Can't get it to read. I read that the newest Olympus ROM coupled with the newest goodman kernel would work but it does nothing. The flash drive doesn't even light up. Tried a powered USB hub and it only lights for a second but the phone won't read it. Both the ROM and kernel list it as a feature and it does nothing. Also tried an ICS build with and without the goodman ROM and no success. Every USB host thread is dead just wondering if anyone had gotten it to work.
i use mine all the time
Awesome what ROM and kernel do you use? Is there anything special you had to do for it work or is it plug and play?
I have bought an MHL adapter, and also a HDMI to HDMI cable.
1) apparently it did not work and my screen on the phone turned green and I had to reboot my phone. Since then, my phone then going into screen off, may observe some grain lines just before the lights on the screen turns off.
2) i had problem with my WIFI tethering.. it just prompts me error, and even with reboots, I can't seem to provide WIFI hotspot. I tried looking for threads but to no avail, hoping for some experts to enlighten me on this two issues.
Thanks in advance..
It may help to mention what rom / kernal combination you have.

May also help to mention;
1. is the MHL adapter you're attempting to use an OEM Samsung MHL adapter, or some knock-off?
2. When attempting to use the MHL adapter, are you plugging in power to the adapter? And if so, are you using the original AC adapter that came with your phone? If not, you should try that.
3. "problem with wi-fi tethering" and "it just prompts me error" doesn't begin to describe your problem.
You need to provide much more detail if you expect anyone to be able to help you.

It only prompted me with the ONLY word error after I mark on hotspot tethering. How do I provide more information for that when the phone error doesn't give me more information?
yes, like you said, it's OEM Samsung MHL adapter with Original AC adapter and everything original..
The only thing that's not original is my ROM & kernel.
I'm on Ultratoxic Rom v8.0.2 with Siyahkernel 2.6.9. still the same fault with Siyahkernel 2.6.11.

I have Siyah kernel 2.6.4 on stock XXKI3 (I know - I'm behind the times), and MHL works fine with Wi-Fi for me.
Sorry, I don't know anything about the Ultratoxic ROM. Looks like it's Samsung based (XWKK5) when I look at the thread I find when I search for it. Have you checked with any other users of this ROM?

The only thing I can suggest is to make a Nandroid backup of your current ROM, flash to a stock ROM, and see if it works with that. If it does, then something you have installed (maybe the ROM, but maybe some other app) is causing the behavior.
i just found this, so therefore it is not my work. but i figured i'd share it to see if it worked for anyone.
thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588979
i dont have an otg cable or i'd try it. let me know how it works. (i believe faux's kernel has OTG support)
Doesn't work with Energy with Stock, Faux or Kozmicks Kernels. I was hoping it did when I tried it a few weeks ago.
I recently flashed AOKP m7t0m 2013-06-30 and gmapps-jb-20130301 and everything is working fine with one exception - my USB OTG cable no longer seems to work.
I've tried using it with a flash drive, a keyboard, etc., and they all work with my older Android phone just as they previously did with my HTC one.
Is there any way to fix this? I would ask in the development thread but I need 10 posts to do so.
I have recently downloaded a program called Divemate USB which is supposed to allow me to sync data from my Suunto Cobra dive computer via the USB data cable with an OTG adapter. I have been unable to transfer data and the app says that no dive computer is connected. I contacted the developer who believes that the DNA may have certain USB devices may be limited by the stock Kernel. I am rooted and S-Off but I have never experimented with Kernel modifications. Does anyone know if any of the the DNA Kernels available here would solve my issue? The developer suggested that disabling the USB_OTG_WHITELIST may solve the problem but I do not know how to do that.
to access the otg feature plug in otg cable and your lil pc and reboot phone into recovery then go to advanced and select otg
now make sure your on the latest twrp or cwm recovery crpalmer kernel will do otg cables beastmode kernel will do otg cable
btw i dont know if otg will work in android i could be wrong and you can maybe try another app
also what rom are you on stock sense or what it has nothing to do with it but if your still stock kernel then try a custom kernel they all have otg support
