My phone was working fine for sometime with DCD 3.1.2, SPL 2.40 and radio 3.39.10. Last week it starting randomly resetting when I would slide open the keyboard. Not always, but quite annoying. The past few days it started getting stuck in the bootloader on initial start. I would reset it, remove the battery, etc. Still it would go to the bootloader. I even tried the exitbl utility and although it sends the data and executes the reset, it still goes back to the bootloader. Screen says:
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
I figured it was a bug with the rom or whatnot, so I (microsd) reflashed it with the latest official Sprint rom. It still goes into the bootloader. If I hit the reset button enough times, it will occasionally boot up. No idea what's goin on here. Don't understand how it could be random either.
Any ideas?
do you have the wire that you plug in for headphones?
it's the headphone/ USB plug?
if so plug it in and just push the soft reset button
it should work
Ok, that worked like a charm, thanks!
Question is it still enters the bootloader when I reset or turn off/on the phone without the adapter. Should I reflash the bootloader?
i have found no info pointing towards what is doing it. i've re-flashed with no luck
Is there a way to flash the bootloader off just the memory card? Can I copy the Hard_MFG_SPL_2.40_RUU_signed.nbh file to a card and rename it?
Figure it's worth a try.
I've got the exact same situation as you guys... Just wanted to chime in on it.

i think i read on another forum that you can not flash off the memory card for a bootloader.. but i do not know
Try a hard-reset and then flash to another pre-built or Kitchen built ROM that uses the 2.40 bootloader.
You must boot into the WinMo OS and get connected with Activesynch to program a bootloader. At least none of us have yet managed to figure another way to do it.

Do NOT, I repeat do NOT attempt to update the SPL with the memory card. The unlockers are developed to first load a temporary bootloader, then flash with an RUU once using the temporary. You will mess up your phone.
Thanks... I was having the same problem that the OP was having until I found this thread. It seems like headphone adapters other than the Sprint one works. Also, if you're stuck in the bootloader, there is no reason to flash any roms because it will have no effect at all.
Also, as an alternative, you can take out the battery for a couple hours.
By the way, I'm running dcd 3.1.2 and radio 3.37
So we know that flashing a new ROM doesn't work, and flashing different radios doesn't work. We also know the headphone adapter will get you to boot up normally, so no stuck buttons or anything. This has to be a bootloader bug or phone defect or bent usb pins or something. Has anyone tried relocking the phone? I can't express how annoying it is to carry around a headphone adapter in case you need to reboot.
Thinking,,,,,
I stopped where you see in my signature as everything works for me, but I wonder if maybe you flash back to stock, relock, put it back exactly as you started if that would straighten it out. If it still fails stock then some nice new defect has been found. If it works then go forward but only as far as I did ans see if it is stable as with mine,,,,,maybe somthing in the new ROMs???????

i have relocked also. i've think i've done everything except rip the phone apart and look at the usb pins
This is not a rom issue, it's a bootloader issue. I've flashed, tested, and used all released roms and non-released (internally tested) roms numerous times on several different titans and have never seen this issue. I'm not doubting the existence of the issue, but the rom will have nothing to do with the device being stuck in the bootloader.
My guess is that something went wrong while unlocking or it's a hardware defect on a certain batch of these phones.
there was some talk over at ppcgeeks about there being something about relocking and flashing and something... however. my phone worked great and then one day it just started and nothing changed on the phone for like 3-4 weeks and then it started going to bootloader
This weekend I replaced the stock bootloader on my VZW XV6800 with SPL-2.40.Olipro; upgraded radio to 3.39.10; installed dcd's Titan 3.1.2. All went well, phone was doing fine for a couple days.
Today the battery died, nothing unusual. I plugged in AC power and turned on the phone and the bootloader displayed. Did a soft reset 2 or 3 times, no change. Disconnected AC, popped out the battery, let it sit while I search and found this thread.
I used a can o' air to blast out the USB/power port on the phone. Put in the battery, powered the phone, and the OS loaded just fine. Soft reset the phone and again could only get to the bootloader. Poppped out the battery again, found my USB/headphone adapter, connected it, returned the battery and powered the phone, and the OS loaded just fine.
This is a long way of saying I'm experiencing the same that's been reported in this thread. Is there a fix for this issue? It seems like an issue with the device to me. Was there any confirmation that there was a "bad batch" of phones and is a hardware issue with the XV6800?
I am also experiencing this same problem.
I flashed to 3.1.2, then to 3.2.0 today...nothing changed. It still loads the bootloader when i do any kind of a reset without the usb or the headphones plugged in.
The only odd thing that i can comment on during my experience is that my USB cable failed on me and I had to replace it. Seems odd, but perhaps that can shed some light on the problem.
Did anyone find a solution to this problem? Is it a hardware issue?
my devices keep restarting
i use it out side USA and not activated
in the stock rom resarting and same thing in the custom rom
every minite restating please help me
if you can, try an RUU for the phone...it will load the system back to it's original factory settings...if you're familiar with ADB make sure your device is recognizable thru there and try flashing the phone manually back to factory settings
i cant flash it my Hboot 1.50.0000
please any help
welcome to the club my friend... spoke with sprint today about this issue after they send me a new replacement phone for this issue and this new phone is doing the same thing still.. keeps rebooting and or shuting off requiring a battery pull to restart it. Sprint says they are aware of the problem and it is not a small issue affecting only a small number , its wide spead. they are awaiting a fit in a patch from HTC but there is no eta . they also suggested i monitor the HTC website for the fix
thanks i thought thats from my device only
please tel me if they fix it
any news? still same issu
Mine's not doing it that frequently, but it seems to be at the most inopportune moments!
My second Shooter (first one had a dead pixel) had the same issue and even though it wasn't often it was ANNOYING. I ended up having to swap it out for a new one and this one hasn't been giving me any sort of rebooting issues (once or twice when OCing; but that's expected). If it is software related flashing the RUU like someone else mentioned may help out; it'll set everything back to default straight from HTC.
If you're unlocked w/ the HTC method you'll have to relock first but then run this on your PC w/ the phone attached and follow the steps:
http://www.multiupload.com/09NOXKCUN0
^That's the latest RUU installer and should work for you.
Report back what happens; I'm curios about this myself since I never did an RUU reflash (was noobish in mind then) with my last device but if it fixes the issue it would make a LOT of people happy.
Peace.

i need to flash rom from recovery mode
have another file for this
i bought a phone off ebay in december. the phone was working well and then i decided to start installing different Roms on my phone. the phone was not s-off when i was installing these roms. about two weeks ago my phone just started to restart. it does not stay on for more than a minute before it restarts and i have no idea why it is happening. i would really appreciate any help in this matter because it is really frustrating. i think it is a software problem because the phone does not restart when it is in recovery mode or if it is in bootloader mode. if there is anything...anything at all you can do to help me it would be greatly appreciated.

It would nice if you put a title to your thread instead of just [Q].
Anyway, if you suspect its a software problem, why not just flash back to stock and see if it persists? If the problem is still there, then it's most likely a hardware issue. I would replace the battery first.
Sorry about that .. it was the first time i posted something and wasn't really sure what to do. and i replaced the battery and the problem is still there .. i flashed and it still restarted. the weird thing is that if i'm doing something it doesn't restart. like if i'm using the phone as a hotspot it doesn't restart. but as soon as i stop it restarts. or if i'm using the camera it doesn't restart.
Did you wipe/format everything before flashing/flashing back to stock? Are you on CWM or EXT4? Some more details would be helpful.
yes i did that. i used superwipe. i am also 4EX and i S-off the device also. i tried installing the stock rom but it didnt work. it is confusing because once i am in recovery the phone stays on. but as soon as i turn it on it just keeps restarting. the phone boots up and then restarts.
Some of you might have seen my earlier thread, my ReZound is rooted. HTC sent out the ICS update my phone attempted to install it and afterwards it would not advance past the white HTC screen. After many hours of playing around with it (being semi-noobish to all things rooting, but decently knowledable with technology) I realized that on the H-boot screen it was telling me that the Image was missing. I assumed that the HTC update deleted it? After thinking about it, I thought that maybe installing a custom ROM would fix this, so I grabbed Scotts Clean ROM. Sure enough I did and I was finally able to advance past the white HTC screen. It looks as if everything is working fine with the phone now EXCEPT I have no data and no calling connection. Im assuming that my phone is just that messed up from the attempted upgrade this morning that im missing files needed for the connection.
My next thought was to just say heck with it and do a factory reset hoping to get back to a bone stock phone that at least functioned, but when I try the factory reset it doesnt work....
Any ideas of what I should do next? Ive spent 5-6 hrs trying to fix this phone today, I really hope to get something figured out. Thank you everyone for your help!
EDIT: I feel like an idiot... Because of putting the battery in and out for resets I left the back off the phone. I now have service. Main issue now is that when I try to call out, as soon as I type a number on the dialer it freezes up and restarts itself....
The phone still tries to look for the old image on the restart and gives me issues every time on startup still also. Id like to be able to get this back to not needing a ROM....
If it were me, I would download the official RUU for ICS found here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/ IIRC, mirror #3 was the fastest. Then follow the directions from that site:
After downloading the file, rename it to "PH98IMG.zip" (no quotes)
Place the renamed file onto the root of the SD Card
Power down your device
Reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + Power
The flashing process should begin automatically
Let the device reboot, and you should be done.
That will get you up and running. Then you can go about rooting it again if you like.
Hello XDA! This is kind of long winded, but I'm at the end of my tether with this and all I want is a functioning GS2 back in my hands!
I have an international GS2 that i've owned since they appeared in the UK. I rooted it after a month of running stock and then started flashing ROMs pretty soon after that. I have flashed many many ROMs, all with success and no issue whatsoever.
However....
I now have a GS2 that boots into recovery, boots into download and will boot into a ROM. Once booted into a ROM, it will freeze, either instantly or after a period of minutes. The screen becomes non-responsive yet the ROM seems to function, calls come in and continue and it still connects to a PC to browse storage etc.
I've wiped and flashed a multiple of ROMs - CM, RR, PA, multiple official stocks. Followed all the install instructions as per usual. Never took any shortcuts or whatever.
Inbetween all this the power button stopped working. Took this to my local store, they showed me the water damage, they replaced the button and that was rectified, working again.
So....basically no ROM would work properly at all. I assumed that this was a soft brick of some sort and gave up hope of getting this fixed myself. Took it back to the phone shop, explained the issue and he said it should be repairable, good chance it was just a software issue and that if worst came to the worst it would go on the JTAG and be flashed back to stock and I would lose everything but have a working phone.
Obviously the phone was picked up today and it's still the same. Boot into stock ROM and pretty much freezes instantly.
The phone shop dude said he tried a new screen to see if that was issue, it wasn't. They tested all the connections on the board and there where no shorts apparently. They had it on the JTAG multiple times, that didn't fix it.....
Doe's anyone have any idea what could be the cause. Do I just let it RIP or is there a chance someone out there can fix this.....
Thanks in advance and sorry for the rambling post. I thought I better lay out all that's happened with the phone and the work that has been carried out on it.
G
Did they check the battery?
I assume they did.
Nuke scripts can clean all previous ROMs leftovers and format system will get your device all cleaned up.
If those 2 don't work, hardware it is, swap shops and see.
Sent from the little guy
Could be a GPU issue. If it is then you will need a mobo replacement or replace GPU if possible.
Alternatively you should do a complete clean install or rom which means make sure all the old files and partitions are cleaned before installing a rom. First simply try using a rom/kernel cleaning script and the flash custom or stock rom. Another way would be to format internal and external sd cards via CWM and then flash rom.
If you still have issues after doing above then you have a hardware issue and will need new mobo.
