If this is known by everyone i apologize but i thought it would have been discussed more in the forum if it was true
It's been discussed. The hardware is there . . . it just aint working. The phone needs NFC Viagra

I believe, just like the article says, it's software related. So someone will probably fix that with a little tweak. Why would they put the antenna in there anyways?

This. Not yet activated but AT&T is building their NFC phone portfolio until it's released.
Its very simple...when you guys get your Note run the app Elixir....scroll down to NFC
If its there but inactive it will say "disabled"

NFC is so much more than paying for stuff. I don't know why they would disable it. Here's a good article on what it can do for you.

wait a minute. the SGS2 is being sold unlocked already from most places. so if you buy one it will just work on tmobile USA, just pop in your sim and go. however the SGS2 will not support tmobile USA 3G so you will only be stuck on EDGE/2G. nothing can change that.

no that wont work either unless the phone is specifically made for tmobile usa 3g bands. when the USA versions come out, they are already confirmed for ATT, verizon, etc, but no tmobile. none of those versions will work on tmobile.
this has alreayd been covered, and the only choice you have is the samsung Hercules coming in place of the SGS2 to tmobile.

The i777 doesn't have the bands for Simple Mobile's 3g. I'm pretty sure you'll just be stuck with EDGE.

So you think you should be able to trick the network into thinking you have hardware that you don't? For what purpose? I mean you still wouldn't have the physical hardware required.

dude, you are trying to figure out a way to trick the network into seeing something THE PHONE DOESNT HAVE, which is HARDWARE to support the frequencies...
so lets throw some logic in this shall we?
EVEN if you could trick the network into thinking you had the hardware, your HARDWARE wouldnt be able to utilize the network speeds......so what would the purpose be?

What? Simple Mobile is a T Mobile virtual network operator reseller. They are in no way affiliated with AT&T or do they support AT&T frequencies. No wonder you're trying to "trick" the network into thinking its a different phone.

I'm just asking a question if it's possible to get 3G speeds. I'm new to the forums and still learning the aspects of my phone and the network. Too harsh..but thanks anyways.
It wasn't just a question, it was a seriously stupid question. Like asking if there's a pair of glasses you can wear that will make a Prius look like a Corvette. Sorry, but it just isn't possible. You can't spoof the network into thinking your phone has hardware it doesn't. Are you getting that yet?

I thought it did but I just saw a spec sheet and did not see it listed so I am not sure now.
Yes, the antenna for it is in the battery door like how the blackberry9900 is. There are 2 metal contacts on the inside of the battery door.

Yes, it is in the AT&T version. It is not listed as a spec though.
All the new AT&T phones (the high end versions anyway) all come with NFC but none of them have working software stack. Basically they are disabled until AT&T sponsored ISIS takes off. So, consider the NFC as non-functional until AT&T has a change of heart.

Anyone else find it pretty coincidental that as the Galaxy Note comes out that Google Wallet opens up to AT&T Nexus phones on the Android Market. I wouldn't give your hopes up, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
With all the security problems (two ways for other ppl to reset the GWallet pin on your phone, one requires root, one doesn't) recently discovered in GWallet, I will steer clear of that app.

It works anywhere. Those are the only cities pushing the isis app, and the only two cities with the NFC SIM readily available. If you live anywhere else you can request the service and have the SIM shipped to you.
This has all been explained before in other threads. OP didnt add any information that couldnt be found in an easy search.

I simply called customer and requested the NFC sim card that is required to allow mobile wallet to function properly.
I do not live in either of the two test market.
In live in the Washington DC metro area.
The initial setup was successful on the third try
Isis wallet did not work at my local HarrisTeeter.
Isis wallet seemed to work perfectly at my neighborhood VZW location.
Will keep everyone updated as I test out Isis in the DC area

I am selling my Motorola Photon 4G on Craigslist, and I had a guy call and ask something that I did not know how to answer. He was wondering if he could unlock it and use this phone in South Africa. I am running firmware version 2.3.5. The company he would be going through is Vodacom. To get to his specific branch's website, you have to add a .cd to the end of the name instead of com. I honestly don't know if it is possible, and if it is not, then I guess I am open to anyone wanting to buy the phone on here. Thanks for your help.

To clarify, it can do domestic GSM only with the KDDI radio (which isn't hard to flash, but kills Sprint functionality, can be regained). In countries other than the US, this is not an issue, and the photon will be able to use all features of the GSM carrier (other than 4g wimax) with proper APNs.
Photon can work on any network i must say.
