How do you transfer ringtones? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just switched back to trigger from ICS and I miss the ringtones that were in ics. is there anyway to transfer the ringtones?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

You could pull them from one and copy then over. Try checking system/media/audio

Try doing a google search for it, ive found most of the ringtones by doing that.
Or, you can search through the .zip of whichever rom. Its probably a generic audio file that you can extract, and copy onto your phone. GL

This. Unzip ICS and pull the ringtones from /system/media/audio/ringtones and throw them on your phone in /sdcard/ringtones. Might have to reboot for the system to see them.

GB and M9 Audio files

I put together a list of Audio files from GingerBread and M9 that I thought people might want to have for whatever ROM they are currently using. These are .ogg files so they need to be either ADB pushed to system/media/audio or by using "ROOT EXPLORER". You can even change the UI audio tones by renaming whatever file you copy into the folder.
Example:
I wanted to use the unlock.ogg audio file as the sound when I press any key on my phone so here is what I did.
I went to system/media/audio/UI found the Lock.ogg file copied it and renamed the new file TW_Touch.ogg. This replaced the default TW_Touch.ogg audio file.
I made sure to rename the original TW_Touch.ogg file to TW_Touch1.0gg just incase I wanted it back or to use it some where else. Not sure if anyone is interested in this but thought I'd throw it out there just incase.
Thanks to Team Whiskey Dev team and EINHERJAR Dev team as I pulled these Audio files from their ROMS's.
Enjoy.

Thanks. The files seem to be missing, though.
Question:
I moved the sgs4g ones over and all it did was create another folder inside the original one. Inside notification folder there were all the original .ogg + another folder named notification, with all the new ones. They still show up when selecting a tone, I just want to do it right way.
What's the best way to replace those 2 folders?
Thanks for posting these, I'm always up for new ones .

Bootanimation????

How do u change the boot and the shutdown animation is there any tutorial on this??????
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I'm pretty much a noob myself, but RootTools app has an option to choose a few diff boot anims. Not sure about shutdowns.
Read read and read. That's how I learned. You need to be rooted, use root explorer (an app) and just push it. Meaning of push, its cut/copy and paste.

Most all of them you flash in clockworkmod.
There is a lot of them in the bible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991267
tru dat! you got 2 options:
- Flash in CwMRecovery
or
- Push bootanimation.zip into /system/media
Like a kernel or modem, bootanimations do not really require a flash at 100% battery or clearing of settings in CwMRecovery if you choose to flash it. Some bootanimations are not flashable and require you to push them into /system/media. Always read the OP will generally explain if it is flashable or not.
***I highly recommend you push it yourself. Its not hard at all and will allow you to be more familiar with your file system***
- just find the "bootanimation.zip" that you want
- move it to ur phone
tip* i've found i like to archive all bootanimations on my PC for future reference do so or skip this next step
- browse to /system/media/bootanimation.zip(this is your original) copy it to archive
- browse to where you put the bootanimation.zip you want and select "move"
- browse to /system/media/ and select paste
- select replace
- reboot phone and voila! now you have ur new bootanimation and you feel more comfortable moving system files around. Aren't you smart ur mom would be proud. Good luck!

check my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019858
its on shutdown animations.
for boot animations.
its the same method
but the bootanimation is just in the "system/media" folder...called "bootanimation.zip"
It can be taken from any ROM from the "system/media" folder and placed in your "system/media" folder on your phone and your done.
This will make more sense after you read my forementioned post.
::thanks?::
i have tried pushing a bootanimation.zip to both my media folder and local folder and i cant get it to work any help please

Not sure which one you are trying to get on your phone.. Some animations need to be flashed through recovery.

Ok guys I tried some from all of these links:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938465
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055605
most were already apk's just rename and push, one was zips just unzip and they were already named mms.apk for me push and done.
Only thing was you gotta remember to rename them Mms.apk then replace your original. Don't forget to make a copy of your original. Once you replace the original mms.apk you should not have to install it. Just back out and open mms app and ur golden. First run will prob lag a little reboot phone should fix it. Good luck!

yea i downloaded those apks and also followed the steps to push them and nothing happened.. again what i did was ZIP FILE-MMS APKS- EXTRACT-EXTRACTED FOLDER-MMS APK- COPY- SYSTEM- APP PASTE and once i select paste it takes me to the SD card folder and the mms apk doesnt replace the original one.. instead it gets pasted on the SD card folder so it kinda mskes me mad because i try and i keep tryin and i even rebooted my phone so many times and it doesnt work at all!!!
Hmmm very odd indeed.
What file explorer are u using? Root explorer? That's what I used.
Are you dling and extracting all on phone? Try fresh dl on pc and unzip extract .apk on pc. Move .apk onto phone and then try to push it into /system
*Edit* The first 2 links are .apk already so I assume you mean the 3rd link. I unzipped the "blue colored" & "blue nolip" werked fine for me. Which ones were you trying?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
The third one..... nd yea what i did was extract the apk from the zip fike nd tryed to push it into the system-app and pressd paste and nothin happens.. i reeboot and it doesnt do anythin... nd yea i used root explorer....

Ok so I assume you mean the 3rd .zip in the 3rd link which is the "Blue Mms nolip zip"?? If so thats awesome because its one that I tried and actually the last one I pushed. Here is the .apk from the zip I downloaded try pushing it. Maybe you got a bad download or a corrupt file during the unzip(prob not). Lemme know how it werks. If it doesn't maybe some screenshots of what your /system/app/ looks like in root explorer. Good luck!
Omg!! Thank u so much it looks awesome!!!

Extract an app

Hi there,
Is there any way to extract an app from a stock rom to place it on my phone?
Say, I don't know how I lost my stock Task Manager from GB, the one that closes applications after 2 minutes screen off, so I want to extract it from my friend s phone and install it on mine.
Or does anyone have it?
Thanks!

Download the gingerbread fruitcake. Task manager should be under system/app within the .zip.
I think the "fruitcakes" use .img files.

I know they are flashable zips but inside the zip is .img files which you cannot pull an apk from. You would have to flash it onto your phone and then pull the apk from your phone, whereas, custom roms come in zip folders but they have the system files inside which you can unzip and pull apks from on your computer. That's what I meant.

Oh ok. So, no easy way ofrece extracting the app?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Well, unless someone posts it here for you, you can just download a "Full" Blur rom onto your computer, such as Home Base, Darkside, or Wet Dream (they all have a "Full" version), and just unzip them, copy the apk, put it onto your sd card through your computer and then move into your /system/app folder (if you have a root file manager), set permissions and reboot.

How do you add audio to boot animation (AOPK 7.3)

Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
(do I need to convert the mp3 to an OGG file?)
I'm pretty sure it takes an mp3 file? Just put your mp3 file at /system/media/ and name it "boot_audio.mp3"
The instructions are repeated under Rom Control > General UI (they're greyed out under "disable call volume")
Ahhhhh I made a folder boot_audio.mp3, lol. Now the only system/media folder I have is in the ROM zip itself. Is that the one I put it in and reflash?

or just put the file itself into that folder in the phone. adb, root explorer, or any other root access file explorer.

Well I thought I had it but when I was checking my failed work I noticed that my" boot_audio.mp3" is now a " boot_audio.mp3.ogg". I used Ghost Commander to move the file.
Just to clarify it isn't or is the system/media from the ROMs zip itself?
Thanks again, this battle is now a personal challenge, lol.
Ok, this is what you do.
1. Find an mp3 file you like (MP3 file, not an Ogg Vorbis file)
2. Name it "boot_audio.mp3" (case-sensitive)
3. Copy it into /system/media/ on your actual phone (NOT in the ROM zip unless you want to have to reflash your zip)
4. Change the permissions of the file to rw-r--r--.
5. Go to Settings > ROM Control > General UI and make sure that "Disable Boot Audio" is UNCHECKED
6. Reboot.
Thanks for the total walk through. Got it working this morning!

marked in red is only in AOKP. So unless you know that the user is running AOKP, this is unnecessary
Just an FYI post.
Is there a way to increase the volume of the boot_audio.mp3? Mine is playing ridiculously low for some reason.

I think the boot sound volume fix is already been applyed, the best fix is in the build prop: persist.sys.boot_volume=100. that's the loudest i, think it can get until the AOKPs find a way to increase it some other way. But as far as my understanding of this its a temporary hit and miss kinda deal. I maybe wrong here,if I am I'm sorry for the missleading post and will remove and or edit with correct info...(if needed but I think I'm right...lol..lol )

Not on the phone. You would have to load that mp3 into an audio editing program on a computer and increase the volume of the file itself.
HI, I'm also looking into increasing my boot audio volume I took a look at the build prop. But I can't find this line (persist.sys.boot_volume=100) anywhere do I just edit the file and write it into there? I'm running AOKP 7.3 also. PS I have used sound forge and Increased my Volume 1000% I only here a little Difference. Sorry If this Isn't the right place to ask this.
