i am getting a question mark on my dell venue instead of battery level indicator...
and if i switch it of... it does not reboot on its own..i have to connect a charger and then press the vol. down+camera+Power button to get it on..
can anyone help mee....plzz..
This means that the phone cannot read the battery state, make sure that there are no bent pins!! if no bent pins battery sounds like its dead....
Sorry for digging up the old thread but I have the same problem. The only way that I can boot the phone up is to connect the phone to computer via cable and use "vol down + power" then release it right before it goes into fastboot mode. Once it boots up everything is fine except for the battery indicator with a question mark. Is there anyway to fix this problem? Is it software or hardware related issue?
Try to flash different rom then if problem persists may be its your hardware fault or your battery is dead. Try to contact nearest dell service then.

I tried everything, stock 319 -> 408 even went to cm7, same problem. Is there anyway I can check for sure that it is not firmware problem

My phone was running z's rom 2.2 for x10 when I took it out of my pocket and the screen was black. The blue lights turned on but not the screen. When I turned off the phone, it wouldn't turn back on.
The computer won't recognize it for flash tool or se fix software or battery won't charge if I hook it up to the charger. what do I do? I have never had this issue before. help would be awesome.
thanks. is it bricked?
Solution sort of: I took my phone in to ATT service center and they said my phone and battery weren't working. So I got a new phone for free. (THANK GOD) Xperia x10 refurbished. So I got to mod it all over again. lol. They couldn't tell me what I did wrong or anything. So I guess I have a solution. So whoever has an issue like me, lets just hope your phone isn't dead like mine The other sad thing was they didn't have a battery for me so they are sending me one through the mail. by tomorrow. one day shipping yess!!!! Thanks for all those who put in helpful ideas. Doing some serious phone pimping pretty soon once I get my battery.
Can you boot into xRecovery?
I have a similar issue here.
I am using the CM6.1.3 custom ROM on my phone (Android 2.2). It ran out of battery(for its first time) this afternoon so I charged it and tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't. It just starts up until the Sony Ericsson logo and just fades out and a white light will turn on at the notification lamp for a while and then reboot again. I tried the Sony Ericsson update service to reinstall the software but I changed the firmware and baseband so it doesn't work and it doesn't seem to be able to boot into xRecovery either. What can I do? Help/advice appreciated!
Problem might be with the faulty offline charging.so your battery's flat.I believe there is a fix for the problem, you might need to borrow a battery, install the fix(check the Rom main page) then you should be good to go :
You could also flash a clean rom using the flashtool version 1.3 I think

can you teach me how to flash a clean rom using the flashtool? i already have the flashtool but i dont really know how to use it
thanks
Look in the development section as there are detailed descriptions on this already, but I can say not to worry as it's impossible to brick this phone, it can always be returned to stock. It's the only good thing about not having a cracked bootloader, we cannot be bricked

Hi
Today I rebooted my Samsung Galaxy S 2 and for some reason it is not working anymore.
No idea why this has happened
I tried everything Recovery Mode - Cant get into
Download Mode I cant get into
Tried removing the battery then putting it back in still nothing at all
On the back I can feel the phone is getting warm but nothing on the screen
It was working fine yesterday and I havent done anything to the phone yesterday
Please help if you know anything?
Thanks
Sounds like a hardware fail. I hate to say it but it sounds like returning it is the option.

Did you have any update fails recently? Update fails were the reason some Galaxy S phones would not turn on.
Hi
Thanks for the reply
No.
It has the latest software so there wasn't a need for update
It was working fine for the first hour this morning and then I rebooted my phone because it froze but now won't turn on at all.
Should of backed up my data!
The device gets warm but nothing on the screen tried everything that is available on this forum.
Do I have to pay for this if it's faulty I only had it about a month now I think?
When plugged in on the usb charger, if you toggle the volume rocker will the display turn on and show the battery level?

I ordered a JIG, however I don't know if it helps in case the bootloader is dead

Hi guys.
I am having some really annoying problems with my SGS II lately.
When the screen is turned off, it suddenly turns on.
When the screen is turned on, it suddenly goes into "car mode", and it often goes into "Speech control". - and sometimes it gives the "I am charging" sound and it also changes battery icon to the "I am charging" icon.
All these things happen without anybody touching the device.
When I plug it into my PC it will not be recognized - the PC states that the USB device was not recognized.
When I plug it into the charger it sometimes does not begin charging.
I am pretty sure that it is a hardware problem, as it started after i have been using the current rom for some days without these problems.
I am using Litening ROM 6.0 with Ninphetamine kernel 2.12
So, I am thinking that it might be a good time to flash a stock rom and return the device to the shop for a repair, bu I don't know how to do this when USB mode is not working ..
I am used to flash with CWM and Odin, but Odin will not work - it does not "see the device"..
So, any of you guys have a suggestion for me ??
TIA, KE.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Try to flash a stock ROM with Odin...
Put your SGS2 into "Download Mode", launch Odin then plug your device to your PC... You'll see if Odin see your device or not...

There is s way of flashing without Odin. You must have cwm , clockworkmod installed though. In the Market get the revolution rom kitchen app and take it from there.

I have exactly the same problem. There are quite a few reports of weird USB problems with this device. This seems to be related to false "battery overheating" messages while the battery is fine.
It does look like a USB hardware issue, problem is how do we get a stock ROM back on the device to get it repaired under warranty? Is there a way to flash the device back to stock without using USB/Odin?

Wow, it is sad that this fine device should have so serious problems HW wise..
Today it just went from bad to worse for me - the phone stopped reacting to presses on the power button (it was screen-off) - and it was really really hot.
The backside of the phone was really so hot, that I decided to pull out the battery.
So now I am really in the ****. I just might try to hand it in and just hope that they will handle it as a HW error (but I really don't know)

See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16664784&posted=1#post16664784 and the links from that thread.
From my experience, this isn't software / ROM related at all. Purely a hardware thing. Still having this problem on and off.
I have a family member who got this problem on a device with the stock version. I just started getting this problem (I have a custom rom) BUT I just got some third party cables.
I am wondering if those are the ones causing this. Does the SGS2 have a special USB input? Maybe with an extra connector (to eg. enable car mode on official Samsung cradles) which a third party USB cable manages to touch? I'll do some testing tomorrow as I get back to original cables.

Thank you, I would like to hear if it makes any difference.
But unfortunately I am using the original cable.
Update: I manged to get my phone to connect to the computer twice, so I now have it on a original Samsung build.
I hae ordred a Jig, and When I receive that I will return the phone for repair/change.
Have you heard about how returning phones with similar problems worked out ?

First try flashing an 'normal' kernel instead of the ninphetamine kernel. Everytime I install that kernel my pc doesn't recognize my galaxy s2, but when I use the KH3 or another normal rooted kernel I have no problems....

Did you send it in with custom ROM/kernel installed?
If so, did they declare your warranty was voided?
Thanks.

Hello.
When my phone is plugged in into wall charger and I try to shut it down, it does a reboot instead of shutdown, just like if it was plugged in PC.
Another issue I've noticed, if it's shutdown and I plug it in wall charger it does not "boots" into the battery status screen, even if I press power button. Basically I no longer have access to "battery status" screen. (you know, it's when a huge battery with bubbling liquid inside displaying on screen)
Any tips how can I fix this? what is it related to, rom, recover, anything else?
Thank you.
What MOTO firmware are you running or ROM? That could be the issue there.

I'm using rooted stock 1.83. The bootloader is unlocked.
If it's related to rom itself, then it would make sense, besides that problem I'm getting frequent (at least once a day) reboots with no reason. I'd better just reinstall the rom then.
Thank you.

I'd say fresh reinstall and report back. Like wipe everything and then restore the phones apps through titanium backup. No restore through a recovery.

Hi there,
I searched the forums, I tried suggested solutions, I've been at a repair shop, nothing helped so far.
I have a SGS2 GT-I9100 Android 4.0.4, Baseband I9100XXLPX, Kernel 3.0.32-CM-ge9cef6c (Aug 28, 2012), CyanogenMod 9.1.0-galaxys2. This has been working flawlessly for months now -- until I plugged it into an DC-USB adapter in my car. When I plugged it into the car adapter the phone rebooted.
Since then the phonce shows the following symtoms:
a) If I shutdown the phone, it restarts automatically.
b) If I remove the battery and re-insert it, the phone starts automatically.
c) USB connection to PC does not work anymore.
d) Charging the battary is possibly. However, charging is not indicated in the status bar as it used to be.
e) The battery drains much faster than it used to. (Settings menu reports the CPU being at 200 MHz, when idle)
What I did so far:
1) Cleaning the Micro-USB socket. --> Didn't help
2) Going to a repair shop to replace the socket. The guy disassembled the phone, and connected the ribbon cable to another USB socket. Didn't help. He also tired another battery. Didn't help. He suggested to go back to the original software as this may cause the problem. If that didn't help, he said, it is the mainboard.
3) I reset the phone (i.e. wiped the Dalvik cache, etc. and reset battery stats in recovery) and ended up with a "naked" SGS2 with the above specs. Yet, this didn't solve my problems.
What I hope to find here:
i) Someone sharing their solid experience/knowledge as to what causes such behaviour.
ii) Instructions how to reset the phone to its stock software (remember c) above).
iii) Other suggestions how to fix these problems.
What I have at hand:
Windows 7; Ubuntu (preferrred, also used it to flash the phone back then); a PhD in computer science.
What I don't have:
An SD-Card, but willing to buy if needed; knowlegde of all acronyms and "community speak", but willing to learn.
tl;dr: Thanks for reading so far.
Best,
Daniel

Can you connect it to PC in download mode?Or it doesn't work at all?
Also, you can try Mobile Odin to reset your phone. It can take a time,I've never tried it before, but I have seen that it works. Here's a video that can help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLxGzWYGDNw (it's the same for S2,don't worry that it'a an S3).And for the firmware,go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/ and create yourself an account.I recommend you to download the UK/IIreland -XEU firmware, because I know it's an unlocked firmware.Download it right on your mobile, then flash it via Mobile Odin.Let me know that it helped.

I had the exact same problem after using a car charger. I took my phone in for warranty repairs and they changed the USB flex cable and the battery. No more issues since then.

Yup, my phone says charging for some time even after I pull the cable out and I can not shut it down because it restarts itself.
