[Q] Getting webtop - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So im useing darkside 4.4 and I want to use webtop I've been trying to find a way to add webtop to the rom and from what I can tell its possible to do something called a fruit cake but the only one I could find is for at&t were I have a international ATRIX not sure what fruitcake to use or if their is even a fruitcake that will add webtop for international ATRIX

(I'm assuming you're on gingerbread?)
In the fruitcakes thread, there is a link for 2.3.4 (webtop only) that doesn't specifically say AT&T, so my guess is that it should work for you. I haven't flashed any of these fruitcakes, however. Anyone with more experience care to chime in?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461168
i just flashed the 2.3.6 webtop fruitcake about three days ago and honestly it was pretty simple.
I will post links for you in a few.
However since your on international fo to the fruitcake thread and check there what webtop youre going to need okay u dont want to get the wrong one so read up but the link i left up there is a guide on how to install it.laters

Thank you both for the help will try and see what happens

If yr running darkside yr already running an ATT rom efectively as thats what its based on. It should work fine.
Also flashing webtop 2.3.6 works fine on DS which is based on 2.3.5.

thanks it did work for me I knew that DS is a AT&T but thought the web top might still give problems P.S.if you direct me to the thanks button I will click it lol
Edit: nvm I'm using app lol not use to being able to use app at school so I was able to thank you

[Q] I want ROM for Atrix from Bell

Hi guys
I have Atrix 4g from Bell Canada which rom should I used with it.
Thanks
There isn't one right now available right now unfortunately...
You can factory reset to get back to stock

the problem is that if ANYTHING goes wrong while developing the ROM, causing a soft brick (which can be done by loads of things, and is almost guaranteed to happen during development), there is no easy way (realistically no way at all), to recover from it. we have to wait until a retail .sbf gets leaked or released from bell before any real development using the system files can occur. Anyways, ROMs for the Atrix aren't really ROMs in the true sense of the words, merely heavy edits to the themes and cleaning up some bloatware.
In the meantime i recommend you go here, here, and here for now, those are the main things that can be done for Bell Atrix at the moment. make sure you read those threads thoroughly and understand what you're doing before you do it though.
Thanks guys
Is there any update about rom for Bell devices ?
There is a generic rom u can flash have a search around for it

Root 4.1.83 v2.2.2

Just purchased my 1st Android phone and am getting used to everything. Without sounding like a broken record and having spent some time on the forum, can I please be directed to or have answered how to root an Atrix 4.1.83 v2.2.2 without flashing back?
Does it make sense to wait for Gingerbread to come out or does it make sense to unlock the boot now?
Any input greatly appreciated.

Look for Gingerbreak in dev section to root.
I would unlock and flash Kenneth Penn's 4.5.91. The Moto release in SOAK will stop you flashing back if you want to.

If you wait and get an update from Motorola and you have your artix rooted on 2.2. How should one proceed? Does one just update and then re-root after that?
Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if I HAD to flash back in order to gain root. As much as I don't like the motoblur bloat, a few items are handy. Any ROMs to look at?

When I was running 1.83, I used a method from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138204
Check out the third post in that thread. You'll need ADB to get it done, but if you don't have ADB installed you may as well do that.
ROM-wise, I'm using CherryBlur, which is a modified version of the latest 2.3.4 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160649
And I think it's great. The original HKTW 2.3.4 beta leak had a lot of bugs, many of which have been corrected by community updates and hacks, but Kenneth's 2.3.4 seems to be pretty clean so far. As to whether it's worth waiting for the official release, well... I think it's worth modding your phone just for kicks, and to gain a better understanding of how it works.
Thanks Obscene! Now all I have to do is find the time. In theory; to get bothyour methods done - how long should I expect barring no issues?

Well the root method varies a bit. On the original froyo release, gingerbreak was the way to go. All of the ROMs are pre rooted though. Best thing to do is unlock the bootloader and use the fruit cakes to go back to stock firmwares. I do suggest that you read up on those threads. Most folks use faux123's kernel. He's got it up to 1.45 Ghz at the moment. I personally switch back and forth between CM7 and Aura depending on my mood. Alien's another really good ROM and the theme looks cool. Happy hunting.
How to unlock the bl and what's fruit cakes.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Find the thread by mramirezusa with his automatic bootloader unlock scripts. Make sure that you understand exactly what condition your atrix is currently in (firmware version, etc) before you proceed. If it has ever been over the air updated to gingerbread then you will have to soft brick your phone to unlock it. Like I said don't jump in head first, make sure you understand where your phone is, where you are taking it, and how to get it there. Fruitcakes are the the nickname for the CWM Recovery flashable versions of the stock firmwares for the atrix.
The "Thanks" button is your friend.
Okay so I just traded and I know its ob 4.5.91 or whatever it is and im sure it was ota... okay well thanks man I guess im going to have to read up lol

Unlock with pudding. and for fruitcakes he was saying if you want to go back to stock use them instead of SBF.
EDIT: lol by the time I read the thread and replied the questions were already answered. disregard.

Japanese photon from au

Anyone know if any of the custom roms for the 4g will work on my model? Thx in advance
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
It's a Photon correct?
Edit...
So after thinking about it I would be kinda careful. If it is a Photon, I don't see why it would be an issue, but I remember reading people having issues flashing custom ROM's for the Galaxy S II (The unlocked version) onto their Sprint/AT&T phones and it screwing things up. So that's something to think about. It was mostly radio issues and such, so I think you should be fine, and if not, you can always RSD back to a stock build.
Ok thx
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
As I said though, just be careful.
Also, just for ****s and grins, I'm going to sleep shortly, but check what build you're on, it should be either 154_7 (I think) or 198_6/198_7.
the build number is 4.5.1a-1_kdi-92_le-24
I think that's a different build number
I wonder if we had a full dump from a unlocked photon if that could help with dev
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
That is a different build. So I am not sure how it would play with it.

No Worries Needed...
well, you can be sure that in closed future you'll be able to unlock your bootloader but till that promotion you can simply root your device, install rom manager, flash clockworkmod recovery.
Start rooting your device here:http://www.unlockroot.com/index.htm

Of course there are some suitable & useful links on XDA but most unfortunately, this website is banned in my country and takes me a long time to provide you these links,I'm so sorry about that.
But----> have a look at this,where you should start:http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1223

That sux man, I got my mopho off cowboom last week and it came with 2.3.4. If its ang consolation I tried cm9 but it wasnt polished to my liking as of yet (no chrome or opera browser and multitouch games sucked)
Pretty much only thing an unlocked bootloader will allow you is custom kernels and I personally love the stock 2.3.5 kernel

still i would like it that my phone is capable of doing that stuff although if i dont use it...just makes me happy
you might want to look into using PROMS to get your modding fix until we find a way around the fuse issue. i believe proms are themed roms that run over stock.
