Need a good Synergy replacement! Anyone got any ideas? I banned sense on Synergy so Senseless or ASOP is best IMO. So many ROMs out it's insane. Every time I find one I think might look good, it's out dated. The latest was Warm 2.3 but that's almost 3 months old now and looks dead.
Any suggestions, prefer it all working so CM7/9 is out (need 3g, 4g, camera)?

Yea, I heard it was a decent ROM
I gotta give it to ViperROM just for the support he shows in the Redline thread.
and InfectedROM's Eternity.
I still haven't found a rom that is as smooth and snappy as eternity.
I've looked over ViperROM and InfectedROM and both are Sense based. I prefer using ADW Launcher and I'd hate to have Sense still running in the background when it's not needed.
I just installed freEVO (sense mostly removed) today but it doesn't seem as snappy as Synergy which I've used for so long.

Hi, define snappy? A bunch of things can affect a ROM's 'snappiness.' Maybe it is LauncherPro (default launcher) that's not to your liking. Maybe it is the dual core kernel, or the fact that it's 1.2GHz if you're used to oveclocking. At any rate, I'll be here to answer any questions you have.

Ya know Freeza...snappy can be a bunch of smoke and mirrors with reduced animations and high overclocks... I prefer a good solid rom that I can further customize (like yours).

I used to use LauncherPro exclusively but I uninstalled it on freEVO as soon as I got it. I am using SetCPU and CPU Spy and verified I am still using 1.5 GHz overclock set to On Demand.
I did update the kernel too so maybe that's what's causing the issue. I am using the MSM8X60 KERNEL now (linked below). The file I used was CDMA-SENSE-AnthraX-2.6.38.6-REV_013.zip, maybe it's the wrong one? That is probably where I should look first I think.
I add Leedroid Tweaks too... that rocks btw. Awesome tools.

That's why we've included the viperCONTROL script. It will freeze every bit of bloat and sense with a few inputs from the user

Is that the 'Disable Sense Launcher' setting in leedroid? I assumed that just disabled the launcher and not all of sense. Assuming... not always the best I know.
I am open to all ROMs, just not a Sense fan. I prefer stability too. I'm at work now and haven't had a ton of time to look further into ViperROM. I plan on doing that tonight. The Viper Control script sounds like it's what I want.
Love all the options we have... and the amazing support on XDA. Thanks for all the responses. Gives me a lot of choices.

If it is based off of 2.17 then there are no custom kernels right now capable of working with the camera. If you want full functionality, I would stick with the kernel it comes with which is more than likely stock.

I found that eternity is the smoothest rom i've tried with beats. Im just now testing out the magical unicorn kernel with it and all seems well so far. Even though this is a great rom i still have some complaints with the 3d in general such as the volume output is still crappy. What do you guys have on your phones and how is that working out?
CM7 with stock kernel. No beats necessary, it has DSP manager (which is much better anyways).
Volume + with cm7 is odd.it distorts my bass. I manually set it though.
I use empires cm7/ics rom with stock kernel.

The experience has been golden. Both operate with user requests in mind & in a timely fashion which really makes the experience satisfying. Not to mention it's surprisingly stable.
No errors, reboots or FCs.
To be honest, I haven't had this issue with the 3D ever but I thought I should note that.

I recently purchased an HTC EVO 3D after realizing the HTC EVO 4G just was cutting it - I found the MeanROM and installed. Simply amazing - blazing fast and serious perks for a dual-core smartphone. Definitely appreciate the great work the team committed to making a truly viable ROM for the EVO 3D using the latest OTA.
This will only be the beginning of you flashing roms...make sure and check out InfectedRom Eternity 3.0 and see what beats audio is all about.
v6 rock with leedroids blue theme
I went ahead and installed the blue theme on the MeanROM. It definitely adds a color theme I really like (blue is my color BTW). However, the battery ICON is a little weird looking, but it looks pretty sharp. I think the MeanROM is for me at this time because it is definitely quality work with respect to the 3D phone.

Sent from an EVO 3D of the Afro Samurai running a "Mean Rom"
I agree. I have run CleanROM DE pretty much since it came out, and finally took the plunge on MeanROM today. I'm amazed at the speed. It's as fast as DE was overclocked, maybe a bit more and it's stock speed! Sure there are things I'll miss from DE, but I have more to play with now. I have done some tweaking with MeanROM for my personal taste, and am considering a fork possibly. A ROM for those who want to rock.
Honestly, the first thing I noticed is going from 100% to 99% in 3 1/2 hours. I kid you not - the battery life is extraordinarily solid. In addition, the SpeedTests are displaying 4 down / 4 up on average.
If I had one request - if for more tweak of the signal, battery, and scroll glow... just a thought.
Thanks

Beats is not fully supported yet in any ROM based on the latest OTA because there is no kernel support for it at this time. Soon though
But yes, I 2nd the Eternity 3.0 nomination to try. IMO it is the best Sense based ROM, with MeanROM being a very close second (for the latest OTA ROM's anyway). I like the styling and coloring of Eternity more than Mean. Try downloading r98

Second I assume I install Meanrom v2.8, then the same way I installed meanrom I install the leedroid tweaks.zip file. Right?

Came back from Epic Touch (lost in the mail by the repair site after a brick, the replacement phone they bought for me from ebay has a lost/stolen esn), and I cannot stand little lags here and there.
Has sprint/htc made any improvements at all, like gpu acceleration or sd card optimization since last October? Right now I'm running Chogardjr3D blue rom, and it's night and day compared to the epic touch, where everything is silky smooth and gpu accelerated.
Any recommendations on a smooth rom?

Remember OP, this is a thread asking for opinions and on a smooth ROM. I am going to have to disagree with Joe with how smooth MeanROM is. Your best bet is just to flash different ROMS and see which one you think is the best.
MeanROM has been the smoothest ROM I have used that is sense based with everything working
I have been using CleanROM for the past 6 or so months and it has been great. Always get great battery life and stability with Scott's ROM's.
You will have to play around with things stock builds work well with bloat removed . Oc kernels roms can be fast doesn't help battery life out tho. But its what you prefer and want outta things.

InfectedROM Eternity, nothing else is as fast or smooth. It now comes with the v6 supercharger script so with that on, nothing comes close to speed or smoothness. Even without the script enabled, however, it's still smooth, you'll just have less free RAM without the script

Lol everything is smooth just depends on what the OP has in mind that he wants outta a rom the looks, battery life,stock,stable...
I'm running MikRunny v1.11 right now and I think its pretty smooth.
The first rom I tried was Leedroid which is also very good, but its an optimized and tweaked stock rom.
And I was looking for something newer, an rom which contained atleast Sense 3.5 and had no serious issues.
And well you have many roms and you just can look in the threads that list these roms. Because I came from DHD I already knew what I wanted an stable rom with all phone features working and newer software like sense 3.5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458032
These threads are super subjective.
Any launcher that is not android native will typically be "laggy". This can be fixed by increasing scrolling speed and turning off fancy animations.
I can tell you from years of doing this any rom that is a stock rom will be the same, unless they use a different launcher and or mod the animation speed.
Just use them all, use what you think is best. I have an Epic Touch the hardware acceleration on it doesn't make that big of a difference.
You should sometimes ad somethings yourself. Like the oc deamon and controller and there are scripts that improve the performance.

I love viperROM, MikRunny, InfectedROM Eternity, Warm TwoPointThree, MIUI. That's not every one of my favorites, but those are some.

I am about to do my first root and am looking for a ROM. I have learned that there are MANY different ROMs out there depending on what you want. Is there a known database of ROMs listing each of their attributes?
Thanks
AOSP PB9 from Deck. All working except Camera, 4G nad 3D. HW is about 90%, Wifi, 3G, BT, all is working very good. OC up to 1.94 ghz. Good ROM to try
Sense: inbREDed ROM is smooth and fast, MeanROM is another one. Both have all stuff working without problems. MeanROM is more stock look while inbREDed is a fully themed ROM, ledroid tweaks, 2 MPx in front forced. Also, OP is working on 1080p recording

First quote answers second quote. That's what I'm heading for. I WANT mixed reviews. Different reviews from different people all stating their honest opinion. And because all roms are good thats why I made this topic. To see which one will get recommended the most.

The two ROMs I use:
Mean ROM: everything works. Uses the Ziggy kernel which is stable with great battery life. Very active dev (new release every few days) and very active user community. Has Beats working without the headphone hiss. This ROM looks mainly stock with some addons included or flashable.
Nocturnal Adrenaline: everything works. Uses the Anthrax kernel which is slightly worse on battery, but a little better in performance. Active dev (new releases about once every week or two) and active community of users. Less stock look since Leedroid tweaks are built in and some of the widgets and apps are inverted.
I flashed version a 2.2 ZR3D rom and it is great. Really sped my phone up!

IT does look tempting to flash :/... Btw I heard someone say that you could flash roms quickly with something-boot . You can just switch out roms easily, I forgot the name. I'll tell you if I remember

X2. I am not new to rooting, but just recently finally rooted my Evo3D. Tried several different ROMs. I found that Mean ROM was very stable, very quick and snappy, everything works, and very active dev, as stated before. Many that use Mean are changing to the Anthrax kernel to go even faster, but the Ziggy kernel that comes stock on the ROM works great, and is a huge improvement over stock.
I AM looking forward to an ICS ROM that has everything working. Every time I try a ROM with something as a know issue not working, I think it will be no big deal to do without. Then I find that is the feature I miss the most. So I choose to stay with fully functional ROMs. Just my opinion...

Ok ok, all the recommendations finally made me give it a try. "What could go wrong?" I asked, well after a few hours of using this rom, I just wanted to tell you all, I love you all (No homo) for recommending this rom perfect speed, smooth, battery is good, Runs Modern Combat 3 Like a breeze! Overclocked to Max 1500 and least 1000 MHz. I recommend this rom to everyone!

Wanna use RCMIX OC 2.0ghz kernel ?
One of the last mirrors... Since megaupload isn't working anymore. Here you go , flash at your own risk! Btw I wanna mention this , you will get instability if you go higher than 1800mhz .. sooo just do it whenever you feel like it. Once again here is the link

If you have tried either which do you like. I'm having a hard time choosing between the two
Newts is awesome, the only thing stopping me from running it as my daily driver is HDMI out doesn't work and I use that feature everyday.
What are you currently running
Just out of curiosity, have you tried Scott's CleanROM dev edition? As for this question of yours I am also interested in knowing more about Venesaur, tried to install it and got stuck on the boot img. Got S-OFF today so hopefully that allows it to work.

I tried cleanrom dev edition today but didn't keep it for too long. I really like sense roms. I just got s-off today too and I'm running newts one xxx at the moment
im running newts xxx rls3. i was previously running rls 1, and flashed rls3 to check for battery changes. i havent seen anything yet, however ive only been running it for 12hrs.
i recommend newts roms. RLS roms are almost bug free.

Yea I'm really liking it so far, I usually like to go with roms where the devs are really active which is why I'm also contemplating trying some roms from team bamf
Newts xxx hands down. Newt releases updates constantly fixing issues. I can actually run his Rom and know problems get fixed. No audio problems for me on his Rom.
Can't say the same about another dev...

Tweaks are coming soon to Newt's ROM.
I ran both Venasaur and Newt's XXX and I have had less issues with XXX.
Newt's ROM. Smoother, better on battery life, and no surprising "Piiiiika....CHUUUU" when you turn your phone on.

Well the boot sound can be turned off in their defense. I haven't tried Next XXX but I think I will tonight. I'm getting slightly bored of my ROM and I want to see how Sense 4.0 is like as a daily driver.
i was on newts for a while. but switched back to a sense 3.6 rom. for me, sms would always act like they were read and i would miss them. kinda pisses people off if the think you are ignoring them, and of course they dont know the problems we crack flashers have.
I'm reading about a problem with data drops too? Still not fixed?

I know, lol. I was just poking fun. I liked the ROM, just have more stability with Newt's. It's definitely a daily driver. Just make sure to let the kernel settle. Other than that, I noticed that any hiccups stopped after about a day of use.

Rls3 is awesome. The skip songs with volume button is an amazing feature of XXX as I loved it on GB ineffabilis. Wonder why chingy didn't get it working correctly. As in working with say poweramp.
My battery life on XXX is wicked too.
