I'm learning to make Roms and want to start at themeing other peoples Roms. Do you think I should start with this or something else. I currently want to theme Bytecode's openoptimus, what do you think?
Which openiptimus version are you attempting to theme....how much themeing are you planning...first is first,I'd seek permission

if u are interested then you must consider porting of roms to make them run on our o1

Someone is making a thread for tips here and you tell him to port ROMs?
Greets!
I am planning to theme openoptimus build 1.172.1. I am planning to at first change the status bar the icons on the status bar, change up some of the colours and change boot screens at first when I theme the rom. And I did ask permission just didn't get an answer yet but will wait till I do
you dont have to wait, and bytecode doesnt answer my PMs too..
And dont theme with UOT, its useless.
Icon theming is easy.
Greets!
Thanks for the advice!
What do you think I should start with?
I know decent amounts of c++ and am learning java so what do you think i should start with

Well those guides are for apk theming. A keyboard is still an apk even though it may seem more simplistic. Trust me, they still apply
The basic idea is you're going to
1. open it up by unzipping or decompiling
2. edit the .pngs in the drawable-hdpi, drawable, or drawable-hdpi-v4 folders (there's other options too, but most everything you'll want will be in the drawable-hdpi)
3. close it back up by zipping or compiling.
Outside of that, you may need to edit xmls to change things like text color or background. This isn't always the case, it just depends on the apk.
Thanks makes sense now....will have to try it out when I get a chance gotta do sum reading up , thank you

use online kitchen:
http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
transparency can be enabled in various percentage, also other stuf like fonts,bootanimations,windows,popups...etc
Or try this way if using wildpuzzle or dk custom, I couldn't figure out how to use the kitchen but this is another way to get it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912306
This is a theme for wildpuzzle rom which gives you a transparent status bar. I haven't tried the actual aerofire rom but I presume it'll give the same effect as flashing the theme over wildpuzzle.
There's also a theme called glassmod which will work on any sense rom (I think)which gives a transparent bar too.
These themes are only for sense based roms and won't work on cm7 etc.

What's wrong with you? Are you assuming everyone is here at your beck and call? Sorry to say, but no one is.
You were already said what the solution is, and if that doesn't suit you, explain in detail what you want. These 2-3 word "demands" are not going to get you anywhere.

Yes but it's not easy, one of the devs tinkered with it once. It involves decompiling some of the framework.

damn... nvm hehe
Last ROM before i moved... And you guys better stop whining about "finish the f***ing project before moving to another...."
Ok guys, this is a project i created, and yes, its another themed rom but with minimalistic features. What is planned?
Ok i have been talking to ZduneX25 on fb about the stuff what is gonna be cool... So this is what im thinking...
V0.4 alpha (Expectations to finish before 10 Feb)
-CyanogenMod 7.2.0-nightly-0
-CyanogenMod Kernel (Blackscreen fixed! Yay!)
-An unknown themed framework that gives a minimalistic look...
-Camera.apk has changed...
-Minimalstic Gapps (Based by temasek)
-BlackICS Keyboard
-MIUI V4 Icons (And its not easy to change icons in every system apk)
ETA: 18 more days.
Do give me a feedback asap... You can also feedback me through facebook (Fan Page) and Twitter and also G+....

right, phoenix-android have to be hardcoded because every theme used with
theme apps are slowing down the system:
i try to explain why:
Android have a standard builtin "theme" or "style", a different for Froyo, another for Gingerbread and another for ICS.
Every UI element looks for a "theme"-option other than the builtin, if another theme is found, the element have to
load the new theme resources on the fly when creating the element. this triggers a re-draw on the element and slows
the system because it must be done for every element in the activity, so loading gets slow and even when using the
app: all loaded resources arent cached because the themechooser app stays "on the top" on each application and isnt builtin.
@Dax
Why don't you complete your projects before you start new ones?
What happened to GBS,Sonygenmod?
Also, ICCS needs a stable patcher because their are so many features and apps which have colour overlap and also ADW FC's all over.
I appreciate you trying to start new projects which IMO have loads of potential and currently seems like an awesome idea.
However, i think you should consider finishing the older projects before starting new ones.
Don't take this as a personal hate message or something, but this is just some constructive criticism.

So, in my custom ROM (based on cm nightly), I want to set a theme (which is an apk) as the default theme when the ROM boots up. Like, I have ics theme apk in the rom and when i flash rom and boot up for the first time, the default theme should be ics...not cyanbread or system theme.
Thanks for the help!

Kinda nooby to ask... themed rom...
You could try to grab /system/data/themechooser and include in your ZIP, otherwise, spit the forum Chef central > Android.
I'm quite active there, I replied there also.

I prefer people to reply to me and give feedback instead of thanking me!
But thanking me does show if you apreciate my works.

My ROM already has themechooser!...I am asking how to set a theme .apk as default theme?
You have to get themechooser.apk sources and modify the code with the name of the theme you want to be default. Then you compile it and put in your ROM.
