Did have a search but could not see this anywhere so;
Not so much dual booting as dual personality
I recently gave my number to a friend and looked in about phone/status to get it as I can never remember. Mt friend could not call me and I have just realised that the telephone number the phone thinks it is, is not the correct one. Can this be fixed? How did it happen as I am sure it was the correct one originally.
try to turn off your phone, remove your sim card, re-insert your sim card then reboot.
I have this too, also can't fix it. But I think it is carrier related.

Yes did try this but still the same. Left the sim out for a good ten minutes as well.
Plenty of threads on the subject. Stick SIM in an old dumb phone and change the number there, it'll then show the correct number when put back in your smartphone.

I bought my Vibrant off-plan, then swapped in my SIM from my G1.
This means Android doesn't know my phone number. Does anyone know how to set this? Apps like Nimbuzz complain about the missing number.
What? Are you not able to make calls? I took my SIM card from my G1 to a Vibrant and worked fine. What happens when you try and put your SIM card in your G1? Does the # appear again?

Yup, that's it. I'll try the OTA activation message thing. Thanks!
I had this problem on my MYT3G. TMO support was not able to assist.
I finally found a solution here on XDA. (cant find the link right off hand)
I removed my SIM,
powered up the phone
shutdown the phone
installed SIM and voila.... My number now shows up on the phone.
I had this a couple of years ago with my G1. I called T-mo, let them know... 5 minutes and a reboot and it was showing up, no problem. Just call T-Mo...
Thanks again smerff, that worked and the T2 support lady fixed my friend's missing number on the same support call. Can't argue with that!
Mine had always been like this, in my old G1 and now. Figured it was my sim card, I never looked into it though. Maybe I'll call Tmo and see what they day.

This was like this for me with my old SIM card (had it since the days of the first PocketPC Phone Edition from like 2002). Replaced the SIM for other reasons with a brand new one and now my phone number shows up. Don't know if that was the reason or not.
The tmobile rep told me that they were duplicating old sim data to new sim cards for issues just like that. Don't know how that would affect anything or why. Just an idea.

Hi folks,
I got a branded T-Mobile handset Monday this week. I have unbranded and changed to the newest stock rom / changed CSC to BTU.
Just connected to Kies and another update was performed which updated the modem to LH1 but I have noticed a strange issue.
Under status it is reporting my phone number as all zeros.
Attached a screenshot so you can see what I mean.
Not noticed anything wrong yet, but it does worry me in the sense if the phone is reporting the incorrect phone number then I may have some service / billing issues somewhere along the line.
It is only information menu. It reads phone number from SIM card. If you have any old phone just put your sim there and set 'my number' in settings. New phones didn't have option to programm numer on sim card.
Don't worry about it if you can't change it.

So strange. So how does my phone even function without the sim reporting the correct number? lol
Weird problem.
Re installed the firmware and will do a factory reset, see if it makes any difference

It won't. Like the guy answering your question already said: "the number is on your SIM card" so doing factory reset won't make any difference.
The number you see is called MSISDN-number and it's only being used by a very small group of apps like walkie-talkie apps. I wouldn't worry about it. If it worries you, try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.lytsing.myphonenumber
Didn't work on my phone though, but you can give it a shot. Mine's wrong too. I just don't think the problem is big enough for the hassle of having to fiddle with a microsim to regular SIM adapter, let alone find where it actually is.
Actually, the MSISDN number is the one stored on the SIM card. The last digits of the MSISDN may, or may not be related in any way to your actual phone number. The only entity that translates the MSISDN to your phone number is the carrier. In any case, you have nothing to worry about.
All of sudden, my phone does not detect the SIM card anymore. I inserted another good SIM card, and get the same error. I tried to press the SIM card to ensure good contact, but not working. No problem with other function. I inspected the SIM card slot and it appears perfect. The phone has never been dropped or having liquid damage.
I did the factory reset, but could not get rid of the error. Unfortunately I just travelled to oversea...
AT&T agreed to replace the phone, but I will not have any phone on the road.
I am willing to try anything. Does not seem to be software related, but...
Anyone know how to fix the problem?
Thanks.
Hey. There us a thread about this just search for it... don't think they found a solution
Did this happen while your sim was still in the phone or after a removal and replace?

My 1717D stpped working too when I installed T-Mobile radio
I bought 1717D with Android 4.o.4 on it , Kernel 3.0.8-perf-1717DTLLF4-CL793911 and tryed to install T-Mobile modem to work with Mobilicity.Ufter this update phone doesnt recognize my SIM card any more.I Tryed all 3 modems with the same results, even though I did changed modem on two previous 1717 phones before. They were with 3.3.5. I thing The problem is in Gingrbred rom this pfone has.Where can I get original Yelus factory Rom ?One more thing is strange: it doesn't show any IMEI ,Baseband shows Unknown.
The phone has ics 4.0.4. I inserted a foreign sim card while traveling abroad and found "no sim" error. Then i switched back to the att sim and found with the same error. I shall say i always use the foreign sim while oversea and never had problem with this phone before. And i always power down, remove battery and then replace sim card.
I reflashed the ics radio and still no good. I can see the imei number in setting. But the baseband is unknown. I read almost all related posts and could not find a software fix.

"No SIM" just happened to me. I recently updated to the official JB stock ROM & Note worked great for about ten days... then just quit and displayed the "No SIM" error message. I first tried just shutting down, removing & cleaning SIM, replacing & rebooting. Nada. Then tried different, fully charged battery. Still no go. Still at home tried a factory reset, removing SIM, clean, & reboot. Gave up and went to an AT&T kiosk. Rep set me up with a new SIM and I'm back in business for two days now. Rep was quite philosophical, "it happens sometime." Still don't know why.

M Phone number is showing as 000000000000
any ideas how to change this?
I think it's carrier dependant, can u tell us on what network you are? I'm not 100% sure though
all the s3's I've seen don't show it in Lebanon
I'm on t-mobile uk which is now showing as ee, (everything everywhere)
its a SIM card thing I put my SIM in wife's old iPhone and now on gs3 shows number
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Yes it's written on SIM card, some roms can't write it down on the card, the solution if you absolutely want this is to put your card in an old/another phone.
With my previous phone the number wasn't readable, now I have it.
Thanks for the replies, its not that important, but i may swap the sim over sometime .....
thanks
Hi
I have the same problem, I did put my sim in a different phone and edited the number but it still shows the wrong one in my phone. Any solutions?
