[Notice of Leave] [02/18/2012] - Optimus One, P500, V General

3:30am and still on my phone. s:
Hey guys.
Well, it seems an imminently sad ending for me, but I am sorry to say, my LGE P500 may be in its last few weeks use.
It involves a HTC HD2.
Which brings me to my main point.
I may very well be leaving Android Development. Yes, 7Phone is and may very well be my ONLY Android project, and I will continue on ahead with it, for this whole community of amazing people.
I will always be here for assistance with the Optimus One, but I won't be developing anymore.
I may be transitioning to Windows Phone Development, but hey, who knows I may come back once in a while with something for our Optimus Ones.
Peace out for now,
-Carlisle

Why do people complain.

Hello I am here to, ask why people are complaining about cyanogenmod? They are working hard for us right now. This is brand new hardware and Slayher has 5 kids and a wife. There are more important things then a phone. This is more to support him then ask a question. We have plenty of great roms out and people need to chill. I'm all for being excited but don't bother them for it. Who wants a broken rom? And who wants to work on a phone instead of seeing there family.

You are asking people to use common sense on the internet , common sense died when AOL 2.0 came along.
But honestly, yeah, i guess people don't understand what PRE-ALPHA means...
Earleyer then that my friend

Hahahha see i always enjoy humor on forums but when people get all high and mighty it ruins the point of having an open phone and a forum. It's to have fun and help others get to your level of fun. If the rom has pre alpha there's going to be problems and he has no reason to support that rom. He did us a favor. We got a small taste of it to hold us off but you get those greedy people wanting more.

Some people can't just sit back and enjoy the fruits of others' labour without telling them they need to pick their fruit faster. Sad but oh-so-true.
It's just what they do
Everyone needs to complain about something cause life sucks and everyone's misery must be spread to another. Misery loves company.
Welcome to America.

5 kids and a wife? Sounds like free labor to me, lol. I only have a wife and I haven't even had enough time to put a full theme together let alone a full Rom port.
Some people seem to think that they deserve something just because they are them, should just be happy they got what they got. I know I sure am after coming from a locked down droid 2 global with virtually no dev. support.
I hope Cyanogenmod And Slayher understand that there are only a few people who are being idiots about it

Well said. This is my very first post on here even though I've been following up on what's going on. Just wanted to also echo my appreciation to Slayher and the team.

[Q] Android Hacking - Where do I start?

Title really says it all. Everyone has to start somewhere.
I'm interested in digging in and seeing what I can do. I'm not really a programmer, but I can learn. I'm pretty comfortable with linux, having used it for many years (not really much in the last few years, though). I've used and installed Mandrake/Mandriva, Sabayon, and Gentoo; and I'm going to install Mint, Ubuntu, Sabayon, or Arch over VirtualBox sometime in the next few days.
Are there any sites/forums/articles that I can read that would give me a beginners look at Android hacking/development? Are there any other things I should know?
Sent from my BNTV250 using Tapatalk
I would start with doing themes. Then from there, make your way into apps, then rom development.
If your interested, I can give you a link that gives some great ADW turning instructions.
That would be great. I've done some theming back when I had my Droid, mostly just changing things around to suit my desires. Never done any app development, though.
I'm wanting to contribute to the Nook Tablet community, if I can.
Sent from my BNTV250 using Tapatalk
Here is that link, it is long, but will make you understand really good.
http://code.google.com/p/adw-launcher-android/wiki/ADWThemeGuide
As for the nook development, idk about that sorry, may want to ask in that section.
I really appreciate it.
In terms of Nook dev, I figure if I can figure out Android hacking as a whole, I can apply that to the NT.
Alright man, good luck!

Thus far, I've not had the chance to tinker. I've been far too busy lately. I've read over the post a little, but I will follow it more carefully when I have the time to sit down and devote some attention to it.

[Q]Should I continue OpenPhone7?

Hey guys.
So so sorry about my past in these forums
When I first released OpenPhone, I realised that it would be hard to do while dealing with work and family, so I should have closed the project.
Please no hating, but should I continue making OP7 then make a thread with download once I'm done? I might keep my Optimus One if people want me to continue with project

What do you expect people to say?? Of course we want something unique, like OpenPhone, but it was your never-ending "ETA" that created mistrust for you in us........You shud work for sure work on it, but this time, giving it equal priority alongwith your other works........
It would be good if you work on it for everyone here.......

Ya man we definitely want to see an Openphone project. You can post some pics and post whatever alpha, pre-alpha version you can produce asap. The developers and users will help you immensely to solve the issues in you pre-release version.

Guys, look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25081229
I will continue to keep the phone until a full release of OpenPhone7 is out, then the project will land in some one else's hands. I've lived the community, it is just time I moved up. Don't worry, I'll get another Optimus One in the future

Is possible OpenPhone7 ICS??
Well, I don't know. I have to restart from step one now, so I might make it a different concept. Anyone who has ideas, post here or PM me ;-)
I now have two Windows Phones, so a WP7 theme would be easier now

An Introduction

I am a fairly new member here and I must say that I love this place. This has been the most useful site I have ever come across, concerning things android. Tinkering with electronics and computers has been one of the things that came naturally to me and so getting my first android was pretty exciting as I've never cared for iOS or Blackberry platforms. I have always been interested in Linux, which probably helped in my decision to go with android ( price also played a factor lol ). My first android was an INQ Cloud Touch, which I immediately rooted, installed busy box and ROM toolbox. Nice phone, but sadly it was also my first and only hard brick. lol. A twitchy thumb and system files = a bad thing. Replacement phone was the HTC Status ( chacha ) which I couldn't get the bootloader unlocked ( did eventually thanks to xda, now running CM9 ). So I went looking for another phone and stumbled on the Samsung Galaxy Ace and fell in love with it. Thanks to these forums the Ace was the first phone I rooted and installed a custom rom on. It is also the one that I've gotten brave enough to try a few different scripts on to extend the internal memory.
My sincere thanks for all the developers here, and for the members willing to offer any help. This is the site I have been recommending to anyone I know who have expressed an interest in improving thier android experience. A little knowledge, some curiosity and a willingness to try anything, can be a great thing...unless you brick your phone, then experience is a teacher as well. lol.
Thanx again.
the ace is a nice phone with lots of dev support

The grass is always greener..

So, I've been playing with the nexus4 for a couple months now. Having a device that's officially supported is nice, and there's definitely no shortage of aosp roms. I don't particularly miss sense, but what I do miss is this dev/user community.
The devs that remain here are incredibly patient and ridiculously helpful compared to what I've been dealing with in the n4 section.. The rootbox dev actually closed his thread because people were reporting bugs and asking for support with a flawed release. It was unbelievable to me. Then I found out that it's not uncommon for devs to release a Rom just to have their name on something..
So, from the perspective of "newer and better things", dev support makes a huuuuge difference in the user experience. Thank you to all the devs here for sticking it out and helping this community thrive. All the roms in the world couldn't make up for that. You are all truly invaluable to the android experience, and I hope the users here never take that for granted.
Thanks again,
Dan
P.S- I'm aware that I probably didn't need my own thread for this.. But I just had to pop that cherry .

Helpful information to share, at least I think so. The lack of love the Rez has gotten from Big Red makes me leery about buying a third HTC phone(started with the Incredible). I am considering Nexus for the next purchase, or even seeing if the iPhone is all its cracked up to be! (blasphemy, I know). I do love the Devs that have stuck it out though. And it's good to hear from someone who's gone elsewhere...

Its weird how different the forums are for different devices. Everyone is so chill on the galaxy nexus section but the nexus 4 section is really uptight.

I agreed. Of all of the forums I've been a part of, this one is by far the most chill. Seems like the VZW GSIII forums can be really uptight sometimes, and the thunderbolt forums are just... Awful now. It's like anarchy there.

This forum section is like the droid incredible one.....well considering most people on here came from the incredible its kind of expected. Everyone, for the most part, treats each other with respect and acts like a community
I can accept failure but I can't accept not trying.
+1 to that. Our devs rock
