The grass is always greener.. - HTC Rezound

So, I've been playing with the nexus4 for a couple months now. Having a device that's officially supported is nice, and there's definitely no shortage of aosp roms. I don't particularly miss sense, but what I do miss is this dev/user community.
The devs that remain here are incredibly patient and ridiculously helpful compared to what I've been dealing with in the n4 section.. The rootbox dev actually closed his thread because people were reporting bugs and asking for support with a flawed release. It was unbelievable to me. Then I found out that it's not uncommon for devs to release a Rom just to have their name on something..
So, from the perspective of "newer and better things", dev support makes a huuuuge difference in the user experience. Thank you to all the devs here for sticking it out and helping this community thrive. All the roms in the world couldn't make up for that. You are all truly invaluable to the android experience, and I hope the users here never take that for granted.
Thanks again,
Dan
P.S- I'm aware that I probably didn't need my own thread for this.. But I just had to pop that cherry .

Helpful information to share, at least I think so. The lack of love the Rez has gotten from Big Red makes me leery about buying a third HTC phone(started with the Incredible). I am considering Nexus for the next purchase, or even seeing if the iPhone is all its cracked up to be! (blasphemy, I know). I do love the Devs that have stuck it out though. And it's good to hear from someone who's gone elsewhere...

Its weird how different the forums are for different devices. Everyone is so chill on the galaxy nexus section but the nexus 4 section is really uptight.

I agreed. Of all of the forums I've been a part of, this one is by far the most chill. Seems like the VZW GSIII forums can be really uptight sometimes, and the thunderbolt forums are just... Awful now. It's like anarchy there.

This forum section is like the droid incredible one.....well considering most people on here came from the incredible its kind of expected. Everyone, for the most part, treats each other with respect and acts like a community
I can accept failure but I can't accept not trying.

+1 to that. Our devs rock

Should I get this phone?

Hey guys, I'm about to trade this phone for an HTC Sensation 4G and I figured I'd ask you guys about this phone before I do it (since you own it). I know the hardware upgrades (RAM, processing power, NFC, and connection speed), but how good is the development? I saw there were a lot of ROMs available, which is good, but what are you guys thoughts? Good? Bad? Worth the change? It seems like a definite upgrade, but as usual users may have different opinions. Thanks in advance for the advice!
*Sighs*, I'll do it before anyone else does since it might not be as nice, WRONG FORUM DUDE, lol.
IMO it's a great upgrade from the sensation, but as I always say, everything is down to personal preference, ROM wise, we have some great devs that produce great roms, I've yet to hear of any complaints that we couldn't resolve or of any bricks (well people panic and call it a brick when it's not), that we couldn't fix.
Development is slower, for the amaze but that aside its a better phone I enjoy the amaze more then I did my sensation, especially the camera and added storage because I have lots of music.

Yeah sorry about the wrong forum, didn't know. But thanks for some of the input!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
No worries if a mod needs to move it they will bottom line if u don't need to flash a new Rom everyday then your good to go with the amaze as long as you enjoy sense, the Roms we have are great and the devs are working for sense 4.0 and CM9
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using Tapatalk 2
As soon as we have the complete source from HTC the ROMS will rapidly expand and currently it's booming, just that it'll be way more easier on devs to get more roms out for us.
Amaze is what sensation should've been from the get-go. I went from sensation to amaze as well. No regrets here. Picked up one s and messed with it for a day, before deciding to re-sell it and stay with amaze
No.

Instead of creating this thread (in the wrong section btw), you could have just checked out the Sensation develolpment thread to check dev support for this device.
15 people could tell you its a great phone, and to get it, but it really comes down to what you like. YouTube is a great resource for answers to questions like this. Lisa, over at MobileTechReview does a great job at revieeing. Its wirth a looky loo.
I'm closing this thread only because there is already tons of information available to you. Soend a little time researching. The information you're looking for is right at your fingertips. Not to mention all question related threads belong in Q&A.
Thread Closed.

Best forum around

I have been using this forum for about 3 months now and I would have to say that the Droid X2 forum is one of the best on xda. Developers on this forum have more patience with everybody than I ever could. Whenever a question is asked you can guarantee it will be answered quickly with an explanation that doesn't try to make you look stupid. I have been messing with my friends phone and the forum for his phone, not going to name, is nowhere near as helpful or friendly as this one. In my opinion the attitude of this forum is what draws individuals to learn and progress.

Absolutely. This is why people who have moved on from the X2 still come back to check this forum. The people I've "met" through this site are genuine, kind, and caring people. Some of the best around.

I suppose it is a general rule that low-end/medium-end and non-mainstream phones (phones with problems) generally have more grateful and helpful users and approachable devs and people. I like the Dinc2 forums too...

Best community on XDA here!

Gotta throw some love out to you guys. We don't have alot of developers but we got some good ones, and good members too. A couple weeks ago I was ready to cut my losses with the Flyer, but now I'm pretty content on keeping it. My phone on the other hand, the whole community has gone nuts, and declared mutiny against the mods lol. Nice to see we can all get along here and work to make this device better
nothing better like this, after a trip downhill with DG
i still like my Flyer and community will probably remain, just look at the Folio100 which started from nothing and they got pretty a 100% working ICS without even Toshiba helping, all because of XDA community and the support.
due to the different opinions of the mods, you will see one section where users get banned, another one where mods are promoting their devs, and a third pushing for gpl rules and another where they do not care. mods are just people, they can easily mess up the sections, but as long as its kept in other sections we are happy
im personally quite happy with our mods in this section
This is all for fun, I think sometimes people lose sight of it
Yeah no complaints about our mods. Honestly I dunno what's going on in the vivid section, I don't care to be part of it I know that. Thankfully its a good phone on stock because it's an all out war zone over there and pretty soon I'm certain development will cease as all the developers leave. I didn't make this thread to rat out anybody just saying it really puts our community in perspective
Really its the best xda forum I've been a part of. As nice as all the development on the captivate was it was almost overwhelming. You had probably 4 or 5 varieties of cm7 available, 2 or 3 ics roms in development, and a 100 modified stock roms. So you pretty much had to become a crack flasher to find out what was best for you and forget getting to know anyone.
We have a device that was a flop business wise and we were left for dead on a crappy honeycomb update. We all have our spats from time to time but everyone is pretty cool here and trys to help each other out to get the best flyer experience possible.

Wishing us all great times ahead!
Hard to say considering there are more then 50 forums on xda.
Go take a look at the Tmobile G1 aka HTC Dream. Those of you that know that forum know what Im talking about.
The G1 had ICS before 95% of the phones
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
It's not about the forum with the most roms im talking just great community in general which is what we have. And remember we're working blind with this device. My captivate benefited from sharing identical hardware with the Google flagship, we have the desire hd, one v, and well that's about it, not to mention no tablets that share the hardware so ics almost has to come from scratch. Not to mention my Captivate had entire teams of people working in ics roms. The stuff our few developers have accomplished is nothing short of incredible.

Ordinary people are countless. Special people are very few.
We are those special people.
You know...we have the best tablet out there. I have a Blackbery Playbook with os 2.1 and a viewsonic gtab with ics. And, I hate these tablets. Rarely use them.

ROM development

Hello fellow developers. My question to you guys is why is the development for the incredible so dead. I had the droid bionic for almost 3 years and they were still developing ROMs for a while.

The Inc4G suffered from 6months without any boatloader unlock. Pair that with the general public moving to bigger screens, and there's both a lack of development and user base. When I purchased this phone, I had no intention of (or experience with) development. In a sense the small user base is good for a beginning developer, but I do feel bad that there are relatively few options for users wanting to play around with their phones. This late in the game, we won't see a significant increase in user base, so development will likewise be limited. The one plus you should notice is nearly all developers in this community are responsive to their users.
i second what mdmower said, i had no experience at all too, just was lucky to unlock bootloader, i am getting experience on this, anyone can develop if they want to, when lack of developers users become devs

Seriously thanks for bringing CM though. I've never used it before but I was getting frustrated using sense. Especially after buying my nexus 7 I don't know if I'll ever buy a non-nexus device again. Unless I can expect considerable development. Anyway, thanks.

I was thinking just the other day that this "Goodbye Tour" (and the resulting new threads) is pretty lame, and perhaps should be combined into a single sticky thread (where any future defectors should post). Keep them all together in one place, as each individual new thread just screams "HEY, LOOK AT ME... I'M LEAVING!!" It's just like when you're leaving a great party but nobody would notice, so you've got to try to tell as many people as you can, on your way out the door. :silly:
Not ready to go
Nothing out there that I like for everyday use than the Rezound.
Not many phones will be S-0ff or with as many great custom roms
to choose from as the Zound. Can't beat the screen.
I know I'm not leaving for quite a long time and will be starting Rez ROMs here once my new computer comes in as I'm upgrading from desktop to laptop...I know quite a few others will be sticking around for at least 6 more months
