I have rooted my NT some time back and blocked BN updates (and downloads) to it.
Looking at the device, it still says I have 99% of the memory available (of those 15GB BN originally stole from me).
When I plug my NT into my computer, I see a MyNook drive but it only shows the 1GB available. Is there a way to use that other 15GB?
I've had the sam e problem and have not found a solution anywhere.
root NT first.
1,Copy the file into your SDcard.
2,make a new folder in the "data" folder by root explore.
3,copy the file into the new folder by root explore
4,link the new folder into the "mmt" folder.
then the other software can access the file in the NT memory.
but after reboot, you need re link the folder into mmt.

Guys, How are you? I just realized that I no longer external_sd folder appears from the original file browser ICS (ICS I have stock 4.0.3 no root or anything), I connected the phone to the pc and I get that I have one, 6 gb of space, that was my first inkling that something was wrong, so I went to settings, storage, and I get that I have 11GB free data card and 1.6 GB of internal storage, I went from explore the original file and the folder I appeared to usbstorage external_sd or before if I appeared when connected the phone, the weirdest thing is that with the ES Explorer are the two folders.
May be due to this? Format the memory already, but I will not do a full wipe for fear that I brickee the phone, I need serious help: '(
Greetings!
PD: Sorry, my English is not very good
So, just said above, while I was cleaning some folders I removed SDCARD folder (sdcard?? what f*king folder is???) from Android File Transfer and the I see at leat 11 Gb memory (before "cleaning" was 80 mb... 16gb sdcard)
Could be restored something? Im osx user.. sdcard memory is removed from phone fisically.
I got some aknowledges about disk image creation and some software recovery but I recovery only photos and video, but I need some others folders.
From phone I see all apps, but from ES File Manager, i see only few folders empty.. but with Android File Transfer, i see all folders but I cannot recovery anything (item not available at copy/paste).
Anything is appreciated.
Thanks
Hi,
I bought a z2 yesterday. formatted my old 16gb microsdcard to use in my z2. I can see the folders and the phone can read my card. So i tried to download a file directly to my external card but it showed me a error lik "no valdi folder" or something like that. After i tried to create a new folder in my card using a file explorer but it gives me a error "operation stopped". Any idea why and any solution?

On Android KitKat applications aren't allowed to modify the files on the SDcard. They are only allowed to place files in their own folders on the SDcard (/SDCard/Android/data/app_name if I remember correctly).
You can fix this only by gaining root access and modifying build.prop.

Uch, I was wrong about the build.pro. Actually you need to modify "/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml".
Here is some reference:
http://jrummy-apps.com/fix-sdcard-on-kitkat/
Root access is essential.
You can create a folder if you use the file explorer that came pre installed on the z2, all downloads go to internal storage but can be moved to sd card with 'file commander' this is the only app that can create and move folders to the sd card, apps such as astro and es explorer no longer have the permission.
Maybe I misunderstand the problem, but PocketCast can download and save the files to SD card without any problem. So, if this one can...
Yes PocketCast CAN write to the SD card, but only in its own folder, not everywhere. And it could write to a public folder (there are some defined in the Android SDK).
See Jackos post above...
Only software that is installed as system software may modify the files on the SDcard outside their personal folder. For example the build-in file manager.
File Commander (The built in file manager) is able to read and write to external SD. Use it instead of any other third party file manager app.
I found I had over 7GB of junk files on my phone, this is not a nubia issue but an android OS one. There are other threads on this issue but I guess all Nubia users would be affected.
Here's how to check, have a look at how much space these Two directories are using:
Storage/sdcard0/dcim/.thumbnails
Storage/sdcard1/dcim/.thumbnails
(easiest way to do this is connect to pc and mount as storage drive and check through windows explorer)
If you want to reclaim this space then its easy. Must be rooted!
In your root file explorer, go to both directories delete the .thumbnails folders then create a new *file* called .thumbnails in the same directory. Reboot and your done. There is no impact gallery still works perfect!
So I've rooted my wifes old nook tablet(bntv250), and it works great, if a bit slow(cm10-20121108-unofficial-acclaim) and I want to transfer some e-books to the internal storage. I can navigate to the location I want them in on the device from the device, but Windows only sees a .99gb internal storage that is empty. I can send some item using the send to kindle email, but want to know how to move items from an external sd card to the internal memory. The file manager is not intuitive in this respect(not like the one on my Samsung phone, which is not rooted). I've tried searching and can't find the info I need. The files I want to move are to big to use send to kindle email. Other than this one issue, I am really liking this thing now that it is rooted. Wish I had done it 2 years ago... TIA
You should be able to use a file manager app to copy/move content from SD card to internal memory. Which file manager are you using? FWIW, I use ES File Explorer and it works great -- with its "Root Explorer" option enabled you can access any folder/file.
Trying to use the one that came in the ROM, but I see no way of moving the files around. I had to get root access just to find the folder I wanted to put files into. And why can't windows see the internal memory?

The internal storage and the user-media are on two different partitions, standard Windows can access only one partition of a removable drive, in this case it's the user-media (FAT32) partition.
