Binary count - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all you experts out there i need some help if at all possible,
I have been flashing my galaxy s2 and have clocked up a binary count of 12 and would like to reset to 0.
I used odin and re-flashed to stock I9100XWKE7_I9100XXKE4_I9100XEUKD1
then did a factory re-set.
then plugged in kies and it automaticly updated to latest firmware XWKI4.
Then i turned phone off booted in to download mode and inserted my jig to reset the counter but it didn't work.
what am i doing wrong????

Use Ctrl-F in your browser to find the description for GT-I9100_OLD_BOOTLOADER.7z. Download it and flash it using Odin, then use your jig to reset the binary counter.

You should change your bootloader to an old one.. New bootloaders are not reseting counter..
Here is the old one:

Flashing with Mobile ODIN does NOT increase your custom kernel flash counter or make the yellow warning triangle appear. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899

Thanks to all for the help
i'll certainly look at mobile odin, but how do i use this ctrl thingy

Put jig in before rebooting normally (not into download mode) the device with jig in will automatically boot into download mode. If you are on old bootloader it will reset.
If not intratech has the old bootloader for download in his official firmware thread. Read down from 1st post till you find it. Instructions are there also.

Erasing Download information Succeded not showing

Hey
Rooted my phone and loaded up ultratoxic rom and Siyah Kernal via Odin
Put in the jig to go into download mode and the screen does not show the message Download information Succeded not showing
It shows
Factory Mode
Product Name
Custom Binary Download Yes (4 Counts)
Current Binary :Custom
So the triangle does not disappear is there something I am doing wrong or need to do?
Did you install any stock ki based roms before that? Could of swore since ki roms came out samsung basically disabled the counter from being reset in the bootloader and you needed a totally different usb jig to reset it now.
Yeah, the new bootloader doesn't allow the counter to be erased. But you can always flash the old bootloader, there should be a thread somewhere.
Its cos yourve flashed the new modded Sammy bootloader that cant be wiped. You need to flash via Odin the old bootloader in PDA.

Put it in PDA,dont select anything else, just hit START and your done in 3sec.
you can find latest firmwares with the old bootloader pre-installed here for further flashing.

how do i do that
I can't find the thread where I got this link from on here (might wanna search for "old bootloader" or similar), but you can get the old bootloader here. Flash it in the PDA section of Odin and you should be good to go with the jig.
please close this thread

[Q] Help - wont connect to odin

i hope someone can assist.
i am trying to flash back to stock tmobile uk rom for warranty repair but my phone will not connect to pc for storage mount or odin flash.
i was running checkrom v6 with cf root kernel.
phone will charge.
is there any way to change a md5 odin file to a zip for flashing.
Use Mobile Odin ? Then either a jig (if you're running 'old bootloader) or Triangle Away to reset flash counter.

hi
i have tried that, i just boots into recovery and then i get following error.
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
any ideas
Mobile Odin shouldn't take you to CWM recovery, it has its own. Are you sure you used it correctly?
followed instructions found youtube but still getting same error
I'm still not convinced. We're referring to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
phone eventually stopped booting and decided to take it into T-mobile for repair not before using a jig to reset flash count.
the guy in t-mobile checked recovery(which was custom) and went into download mode. it is now away for repair and will hopefully get a new screen as had some status bar screen burn as well.

(Help) Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)

Before this my phone was already rooted.
I tried to upgrade to LPM stock rom, so i used odin to flash latest LPM stock rom, after restarted, it stuck at the startup Samsung screen,
then i guess it may also need to flash the cf-root LPM in order for it to fully startup, unfortunately the cf-root LPM has yet available.
After that i flash the LPG stock rom because i have the cf-root LPG. Then followed by flashing the cf-root.
No luck, same happening that my SGS2 also stuck at the startup Samsung screen.
In my download mode::
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9100
CUSTOMER BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (2 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
Really sorry for above mistake, i am really still too noob,
My problem is, i can't go to recovery mode to wipe date or to clear cache and my phone now is dead
Please, anyone can help me, i really really appreciate. :crying:
Flash 4.0.3 through Odin and next time be careful for leaked ROMs.
You can also reset flash counter by using Traingle Away app.
First root then use triangle away to clean costum binery count easy

Did u Flash the leaked russian firmware 4.0.4
and
can u atleast get ur phone in download mode
LPM = Russian 4.0.4
"In my download mode:" = he can enter Download Mode.
Read posts with more attention.
I have an issue similar to this, i rooted my SGS2 i9100T which worked, but it did something to my SD card and i couldn't move apps to it, and some apps wouldn't download unless i unmounted it.
So i unrooted it with that supersu app, and reset my phone to factory default, now it wont even root again, it goes through the process but root checker says it isn't rooted, and the custom binary download keeps going up, at 4 now!

[Q] Download Mode Recovery Issue

Hello, I wanted to add my previous Issue I had before running into this problem.
I currently need to fix a issue ASAP as I am selling my s3 soon. I tried to unroot my s3 and reset it to factory settings but flashed the Verizon firmware on my phone and not the international version firmware. The flash failed in Odin and now I am stuck at a screen saying the Firmware upgrade encountered an error. Please try again. I tried to go into download and recovery mode multiple times and cannot do so. I assume is bricked or soft bricked? Can I use a usb jig to get into download mode?

After purchasing a USB JIG, I can now get into Download mode, but the issue is every time I try to install a stock firmware, I am stuck in Recovery mode. The binary count on the phone says "18", but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. Please help, thank you. My phone is the I9300.
So the stock ROM installs without errors?
Have you done a factory reset from recovery afterwards?
This should be fixable unless the firmware you flashed also included a bootloader

No, the stock ROM cannot install, every time I try to install the ROM, it gets stuck in Odin says "Recovery". I cannot get into the phone because it will still show the firmware error if I unplug the usb jig from the usb download mode.
Have you tried Kies if you want to return to stock, start Kies and go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Installation
Follow the instructions on the screen, this is supposed to completely reset the phone and install the latest firmware version for that phone
