(Help) Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before this my phone was already rooted.
I tried to upgrade to LPM stock rom, so i used odin to flash latest LPM stock rom, after restarted, it stuck at the startup Samsung screen,
then i guess it may also need to flash the cf-root LPM in order for it to fully startup, unfortunately the cf-root LPM has yet available.
After that i flash the LPG stock rom because i have the cf-root LPG. Then followed by flashing the cf-root.
No luck, same happening that my SGS2 also stuck at the startup Samsung screen.
In my download mode::
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9100
CUSTOMER BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (2 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
Really sorry for above mistake, i am really still too noob,
My problem is, i can't go to recovery mode to wipe date or to clear cache and my phone now is dead
Please, anyone can help me, i really really appreciate. :crying:

Flash 4.0.3 through Odin and next time be careful for leaked ROMs.
You can also reset flash counter by using Traingle Away app.

First root then use triangle away to clean costum binery count easy

If you end up in a bootloop after the odin flash, wipe data and it should boot

Did u Flash the leaked russian firmware 4.0.4
and
can u atleast get ur phone in download mode

LPM = Russian 4.0.4
"In my download mode:" = he can enter Download Mode.
Read posts with more attention.

I have an issue similar to this, i rooted my SGS2 i9100T which worked, but it did something to my SD card and i couldn't move apps to it, and some apps wouldn't download unless i unmounted it.
So i unrooted it with that supersu app, and reset my phone to factory default, now it wont even root again, it goes through the process but root checker says it isn't rooted, and the custom binary download keeps going up, at 4 now!

Binary count

Hello all you experts out there i need some help if at all possible,
I have been flashing my galaxy s2 and have clocked up a binary count of 12 and would like to reset to 0.
I used odin and re-flashed to stock I9100XWKE7_I9100XXKE4_I9100XEUKD1
then did a factory re-set.
then plugged in kies and it automaticly updated to latest firmware XWKI4.
Then i turned phone off booted in to download mode and inserted my jig to reset the counter but it didn't work.
what am i doing wrong????
Check this thread out:

Use Ctrl-F in your browser to find the description for GT-I9100_OLD_BOOTLOADER.7z. Download it and flash it using Odin, then use your jig to reset the binary counter.
You should change your bootloader to an old one.. New bootloaders are not reseting counter..
Here is the old one:

Flashing with Mobile ODIN does NOT increase your custom kernel flash counter or make the yellow warning triangle appear. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
Thanks to all for the help
i'll certainly look at mobile odin, but how do i use this ctrl thingy
Put jig in before rebooting normally (not into download mode) the device with jig in will automatically boot into download mode. If you are on old bootloader it will reset.
If not intratech has the old bootloader for download in his official firmware thread. Read down from 1st post till you find it. Instructions are there also.

[Q] Help did i reset the download counter?!

Bascially got my galaxy S2 I9100 a few weeks ago , i am pretty familiar with android and know my way about , so the first thing i did was root stock ROM with Cf Root then the second thing i did was flash the Siyah Kernel via odin then dual booted a few roms such as RR or Paranoid Android. As the Siyah kernel enables dual boot i kept my stock 4.0.3 but replaced the launcher with the touchwhiz ux launcher found on the galaxy s3. Since i have flashed various roms and also removed them ect. I have been seeing on XDA that alot of people sent their galaxy s2 to warranty and it didnt get fixed as the "download counter" showed that custom software had been obtained and flashed within the device & that one way to fix it was by downloading well known developer chainfires "Triangle Away" apk in order to remove the triangle at boot as well as reseting the download counter to 0. i am just confused as this is what i done get.
-Say i send my device for warranty and i have restored stock ics GS2 rom kernel and so on will they be able to tell without me using chainfires
"triangle away app?"
-If somehow i encounter a "softbrick" or "hardbrick" could i just buy a usb jig enter download mode, plug it in, restore counter to 0 then flash stock ics & kernel for GS2 via odin & get it fixed free by warranty?
thank alot

u could just root ur phone, install triangle away, run it, and all set.
uninstall any app that indicates that ur phone is rooted and there. also u could flash an unrooted kernel too.
when i had to live my phone at service i did this:
-used triangle away
-factory resets
-wipe dalvik and cache
-flashed via ODIN stock ICS rom
-give it to service!

He simple said:
When you are on a custom rom or rooted rom, use triangle away to reset the counter.
Then do a factory reset and wipe cache/dalvik cache by using custom recovery mode. (you are still rooted)
Then flash an official stock kernel via odin (it will not increase the counter)
The counter will say no and binary official and you have unrooted new firmware
with no way to know you messed around with it. Warranty reclaimed!!

flash siyah kernel with mobile odin pro and my flash count incresed

Sorry if this sounds noob, but I'm a newbie for android phone system.
I thought if I flash the kernel using mobile odin pro won't increase the flash count, but it did.
I reset the flash count using triangle away, it was a success.
but after a reboot, the flash counter back to 1 and Binary is custom.
Anyone know what happen and help me with a workaround?
However, have to agreed that the Siyah kernel works well and increase phone performance.
Phone: I9300
ROM version: JB 4.1.1 stock ROM
CWM version: CWM Touch 6.0.1.9 (may not related but just provide as much info as possible)
Siyah kernel version: 1.8.4 (File name: Siyah-s3-v1.8.4.tar)
Mobile Odin Pro version: 3.57
Triangle Away version: v2.36
Thanks.

Next time flash via CWM.
and just try again. Some phones don't go lower than 1 if you have a custom kernel. Mine does go to 0 even with custom rom and kernel.
you mean i can reflash siyah kernel again using cwm?
anyway, mobile odin pro was recommended by siyah kernel maker, and i brought it from play store just to flash the kernel.
it did do a good job.
Yes you can flash again. Like any other program does, it will overwrite files.

thanks. i'll try it tonight see whether this reset the flash count.

I don't think it will reset flash counter. If you want to reset flash counter then you will have to use TriangleAway. Here is a video tutorial by xda member.

have done it before i created this thread, was success to reset the counter, but after a reboot back to 1 again.
Edit:
I recall that when I use triangle away to reset the flash count, it did not reboot my phone into a special environment to reset the counter.
Is this normal?

If you open TriangleAway and it can detect your current counter status then it will not take you to download mode before flashing counter.
It will only ask for confirmation (in popup). And you are done.
If TriangleAway can not detect your current counter then while flashing it might go to download mode.
I think it's rom specific. in some rom it does that and in some roms it does not.
I just tried resetting my counter, and everything went fine. Now I am on 0.
What is your counter in download mode? Confirm it's correct and same as in TriangleAway.

6. Looks like it is tally, alright, i tab the Reset flash counter to reset now.
7. Tab Continue on the confirmation message.
8. Message appear "Flash counter has been reset!".
9. Go back to Triangle Away again, now the status bar reads

10. Power off my phone
11. Boot to download mode again(volumn down + power + home button)

15. Open Triangle Away again, the Current Status tab shows
Code:
[B]Current Status[/B]
Counter: 1
Binary: Custom
Device: GT-I9300
So, does this means that the siyah kernel was detected when i boot up my phone and thus increase the flash count?
hmmm.. that is strange.
Although I am not using stock rom but I am also on Siyah Kernel 1.8.4 and I could just easily flash my counter without any issue.
This could be device/rom specific issue and also beyond my knowledge.
I hope someone can suggest you a solution and you get everything working.
this is amazing!
with the guide from XDA forumers i have flash an old bootloader to my phone and problem solved!

Use triangle away to reset counter. Newer bootloaders (4.1.2) increase the counter every boot. Either put up with it or search here for downgrading your bootloader

From CM 10.1 to Stock ROM for repair + Questions about TriangleAway (PLS QUICK HELP)

Hi guys,
my home-button of my i9300 is very buggy and loose, so I want to give it in for repair!
At the Moment i use Jelly Bam (AOSP - CM 10.1 based on 4.2.1)
so for my warranty i have to unroot etc. => factory state (Stock rom with software branding)
I read some Tutorials and watch videos, but i always see people using Samsung Stock ROMs and then the start TriangleAway for reseting the counter. (the counter thing is new for me because i came from HTC Desire^^)
so my QUESTION is:
Can i start and reset TriangleAway on my AOSP-ROM-> reset the counter and then flash the STock rom with odin? Or should i flash a Samsung ROM and after that i shoud use TriangleAway ?!
Quote from TriangleAway-Thread
Note#2: on new devices like the SGS3/SGNote2/SGNote10.1, the "system modified" status can only be reset on some firmwares - they must be stock firmwares!

sry but i dont want to hurt my device or brick it
pleeeeeeeeease help me!!!!! thx
You could try it, but I recommend going to a stock rom, then using CF-Root, then immediately boot back up and unroot in SuperSu, And then wipe data and you should be fine.
Thinking of it because AOSP requires a custom kernel and recovery the bootloader will detect those and automatically set your flash counter to 1, you have to be on completely stock, then you can use CF-root, etc.

[Q] SOFT BRICKED - How to reset custom binary?

Hello!
I soft bricked my Samsung Galaxy s3 GT-I9300
I don't know how...
I tried flashing cutom roms, stock roms and kernels...nothing works
ODIN says: NAND write start!! Then it fails everytime.
So i'm looking forward to send it back to the service centre as it is supposedly still on warranty. To benefit from the warranty, the custom binary download should be "No".
My phone can still go into download mode, recovery mode is inaccessible.
In download mode it sayS:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (5 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
Is there any way I can reset the custom binary download to "No" ?
PS: According to some videos on YouTube, USB jigs only get the phone in download mode, it does NOT reset the custom binary download counter.
Please help me, thank you.
