Is someone know when will htc update the android on the Jetstream?
Almost march and samsung skyrocket, htc vivid will get the new ics from at&t. Jetstream also?
Please share some info if you have.
Thanks

Tried contacting both HTC and ATT for this detail.
HTC no comment. ATT no idea.
I guess HTC is concentrating on getting ICS to its phones 1st. Their support system is as usual quite slow-e.g. the Flyer got Honeycomb very recently when ICS has already been released.
So I guess it will be just a wait for us to know or listen for the good news about our jetstream getting ICS.
From what I've read, HTC is just starting to make statements on what devices will get ICS update and when. Only seen announcements about smartphones.
"HTC wrote a note on its official Facebook page to announce that Ice Cream Sandwich would be available for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE in March 2012, with the Sensation XL getting its ICS "soon there after."
A gaggle of other HTC smartphones were name-checked by HTC in the post as well: Android 4.0 for [Deep breath] the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD "will be coming later this year."
HTC had previously said (in November 2011) that the HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G* and HTC Amaze 4G would be available in early 2012. From HTC's updated schedule, it appears the company will miss that deadline."
Taken from article.

So it looks like it might be a while for HTC to even consider Jetstream ICS update. I would be bold to say between end of Q2 and beginning of Q3.
i wouldnt count on HTC with it...
rumor has it that google will anounce android 5.0 around june, by the time HTC will bring us ICS (if at all), it would be considered old.
task650 said he's trying to implement ICS on the jetstream but he's not active on this forum for a while now...
I dissapointed with this. I have europian version of Sensation and an AT&T Jetstream.
Great android devices but I should buy Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and Tab 10.1 LTE to get ICS sooner?? Samsung support is more frequent?
I asked HTC support yesterday about this or even an update to 3.2, support person had no idea.
Dissapointed to hear that. i hope there will be an update.
Saw some posts on the Flyer section about ICS update coming for them in 2 months. Their source seems to be a French version of HTC Hub. It may mean good news for us as well. Here is to hoping that it happens sooner than predicted..

I am no dev, so I do not know, but -say- for windows it is possible to install the same OS on all sorts of systems with different hardware config's. How different is uncustomized Android? I mean if a plain release of ICS for tablets were to find its way to users, would it be possible to flash it to different tablets or would it have to be custom tailoured to each tablet before it can be flashed?
in my opinion, JetStream will have ICS for sure, but I guess It could be Q4 or later
google the info about the update of HTC Flyer, those people waited and waited for more than half year to get their honeycomb update
and I highly doubt CM9 on JetStream since We have not get S-OFF yet, and the Pen wont work on CM9
i think ICS comes with a native pen abilities, so technically if CM9 would find its way to the jetstream it might work.

Having an official ICS or custom-spinoff ROM would be awesome enough to satisfy me at this point for some time. I agree in believing it will eventually come out, even though HTC isn't announcing it with all the other ICS updates. Also, glad there's mention of CM9 here, as I always end up settling on CM once they weed out all the bugs. It's nice not having your Google written OS passed through profit-fueled manufacturer's and carrier's hands only to strip out and tweak lots of it later. It's like every tweak CM does is in the name of being cool, and I love it.
Though, that being said, the pen feature is legit. It's a feature to tablets that I see only becoming more relevant in the future. I would not be surprised if pen support came to CM9 or some future CM variant eventually. They brought the status-bar brightness control slider feature to CM7 when I had to go for so long without it on nightlies for my Samsung Captivate. I know the comparison is possibly thin on implementation... but pens for tablets? It's a no-brainer to at least attempt very strongly to get working. I believe someone on their team will attempt it and probably succeed.
Now about a CM9-HTC Jetstream specific variant? That's another story entirely. My guess is yes on that as well, esp once the value plummets and everyone can get them cheap... just will have to be super patient.
i was just checking out CM and AOKP sites..it appears the projects have made it to alot of devices so far..the fact that the system is for both phones and tablets is an advantage.
how can we get them to work on the JS?

As far as my understanding goes: CM has a team dedicated to it's base AOSP build (device unspecific). It's then either some of the same people or (more likely) entirely new people/teams to work on supporting a specific device. For instance, CM7 for SGS-Captivate was developed by entirely different people than CM7 for DroidX.
That said, we'll probably need some dedicated dev(s) to form a team and start building off the open-source base to get KANG's out to the public. Or the more official route: communicate with CM and set up a repository "Jetstream" branch on their system to commit-to and automatically build nightlies off of for the public. I've seen the process twice now start out as very unstable KANG's, turn to official nightlies, then RC's and Stable builds, then roll-off back into KANG's as people continue to tweak, mod, and merge with the AOSP base as it's updated.
I got an email reply from HTC and they said the last update was released 02/29/2012. They claim that they work hard to get their updates ready and offer them to AT&T and it OS AT&T that decides if or not to accept them. AT&T would obviously not bother replying to me as I am not on their network. Perhaps someone still with AT&T could try.

I hope AT&T or HTC roll out a new update for this tablet cous 3.1 not support natively Qualcomm dual core processors and chipset. I got recently the new Vodafone Smart Tab 7 (ZTE) with honeycomb 3.2 and this tablet is the same hardware like HTC sensation. 1.2ghz dualcore, 1GB ram, 16 or 32GB storage. Work perfectly and run extremely fast with 3.2
I hope in the near future, there will be 3.2 or 4.0 ICS update will available for the Jetstream as well for my ZTE tablet. I love my Jetstream but my ZTE runs perfectly too.
I'm waiting for Jetstream OS update and S-OFF. With this two option, this HTC tablet will be an awesome device with powerhouse hardware.

I guess we all are.
Globatron asked for some screenshots of the back of the Jetstream in the sim card and micro SD card area in the thread of S-OFF asked by me. I have provided the same but have not heard any update or anything. He has been bringing s-off to some htc phones like sensation including xe and others.

So nothing will happen about s-off or os system update??
Jeatstream dead??
What about users whos bought this tablet?
For the moment it looks like it. I log in everyday to see if anything is happening but in vain. Neither a developer nor got any basic knowledge bout developing so can't really do much myself either. I guess we will just have to wait and watch where we land up.

HTC seems to have launched a tegra3 device (indavur (misspelled on purpose)), and since we are many that waited for htc to make their tegra move, so we could get their "frontend", and now its finally happening.
a leak has seen the www some days ago, and it might be coming to a device near you.
anyways they say its 720p, so im assuming 1366x720 and not 1280x800 like we got, so graphics will probably need resizing but i think solutions exists for that.
anyways, lets hope it appears! (i am personally happy with htc sense, so im eager to get it and already got a flyer here as well)
Thanks, Dexter! Loved your work! Looking forward to seeing your magic on the Prime!
I have an HTC Sensation and I do everything I can to strip as much HTC Sense as I can from it.
Can't wait for CM9 for it.
i would love sense on the prime!

Phone Sense on tablets doesn't make any sense.
Even if someone ports it (not too much of a problem actually) it won't be usable.
The Sense UI doesn't scale well and is fitted to one specific resolution and screen size.
Scaling it up just looks awkward.
People shouldn't get their hopes up, it won't be the thing you expect.
Maybe we can port Tablet Sense from the HTC Vertex (aka. HTC Quattro), but that's still far away.
They actually are announcing a Teg3 tablet (the Vertex, formerly Quattro) on 2/27 at an HTC press conference at MWC. It's supposed to be available in March. That ROM would need a lot less tinkering than one from a phone.
Wow awesome. I love sense. As far as the phone goes, it's probably my next phone if it comes out on Sprint. I'm a tegra3 believer now since my Prime.
HTC + tegra3 = awesomeness!

Nope, you missunderstood something there. There won't be an option to disable Sense/TouchWiz etc.
OEMs are only forced to include the stock themes, so 3rd party apps can use those themes and look the same on every rom
This has nothing to do with customizations like the Sense UI.
Awhh that's lame they should have to have that option!

you should get HTC Endeavor then, i might just in 6 months time when its launched in europe.
anyways the rom is tegra3 based , and from my experience with previous tegra roms , the tegra platform offers alot of options for porting between devices just like between the different htc platforms.
m_deejay has alot of experience from the htc platform, and im sure the virtouus team might just jump back on the tegra wagon soon.
about this build,
since we got no custom kernel, my options for changing scripts (init.rc) is limited and i will simply try this out on a tegra2 device first.
the framework require a different bootclasspath which i think a hijack script is needed for to fix it, if no custom kernel can be installed?
little OT,
why are blob's available on transformer(1), but not on "prime"? is it the sbk key that blocks kernel compiles?
Sounds like bloatware to me then if it don't run fast or smooth or good, people will try to blame tegra3 for it....they can keep it. Its a good look for phones and some of their Widgets look cool. If anything ill take the Widgets. They can keep the bloat UI.
Ok guys first let me say that swearing has no place on the forum. Second it is well known that Sense needs to have the HTC framework files so it only runs on HTC devices. This is why it is not ported to alot of other devices other then HTC devices.

ORIGINAL SOURCE CAN BE READ HERE : http://www.rethink-wireless.com/2012/03/08/verizon-announces-ice-cream-sandwich-update-12-devices.htm
Any Verizon customers wondering when they can expect to get the update to Android 4.0 on their handset or tablet has a little more to go on as of this week as the carrier has released a list of fourteen devices which will receive Ice Cream Sandwich. While it reveals what will be getting the latest version of Android it doesn't go into the more crucial detail of when.
Handsets set to get the upgrade include; HTC's ThunderBolt, Droid Incredible 2, Rhyme and Rezound, Motorola's Bionic, Razr, Razr Maxx and Droid 4 and LG's Spectrum. Among the tablets getting the upgrade are Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and 10.1 and Motorola's Xoom and Xyboards.
The fact the Droid devices make the list isn't surprising as Motorola had already said so in its own announcement. If it's anything to go by then it means anyone eager to receive the update could face waiting up to Q3 this year to get it on their handset.
In addition to refining the Android UI with common actions made more visible, more intuitive gestures and other features such as Android Beam and Face Unlock the new OS works across both tablets and smartphones. This avoids the divergence of the two branches of the Android that was seen when the tablet-friendly 3.0 was released.
Verizon promises to update the list as more information becomes available "throughout the year". This doesn't exactly suggest that the update is going to be available soon and may encourage Android loving customers to look elsewhere for their Ice Cream Sandwich thrills. If they stick with Verizon this mainly means opting for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which was released in December and comes with the OS pre-installed.

It seems to be overlooked by EVERYONE, but all of the articles i've read say that the Jellybean 5.0 OS will be tablet based ONLY. Not for phones... much like the Honeycomb OS. Correct me if im wrong
That would be absolutely retarded. They just brought them together under ICS and then break them apart again with JB?

Has anyone seen the new HTC One V? Its a low level phone running an S2 Snapdragon at 1GHz and only 512MB RAM and it gets Sense 4.0!
Yet all along HTC was telling people that only their newest top end phones has the horsepower to run Sense 4.0. They've said that Sense 4.0 would only be available on S4 Snapdragons or Tegra3 phones.
I hope some of the devs can get their hands on the ROM from that HTC One V and extract the Sense 4.0 stuff from it. Surely if it runs smoothly on that old hardware it'll run great on our Rezounds.

This has been known for a while, the problem is that the One V doesn't have a 720p screen. The One XL is about the only One series phone with a ROM that can be ported for use on the Rezound.

Powerful hardware has nothing to do with Sense 4.0
They said they were trimming a lot of the fat out of Sense 4.0, which actually makes sense to run 4.0 on a lightweight phone instead of 3.6.
They're only gonna have Sense 4 on their new phones, because they want those to sell more, its a good selling point. Sucks for us, but nice little strategy by HTC, make the best ui they've ever made, and only make it available on brand new phones, meanwhile letting all their old high end phones stick with their "well this is good enough, I guess" software.
Sent from my ICS HTC Rezound
Sense is sense in my book.
Htc never said it will only be released on s4 and tegra devices, they said it will be released on the new one series devices as a selling point which makes sense(no pun intended). The one v also has a dumbed down version of sense 4, not the full version the one s/x get.
Like I've said before and others, Sense 4 is strictly a selling point for the One series.
Of course it'll run fine on our phones but that's not HTC's intention, at least right now.
According to the verge, sense 4 from the one v has been ported to other devices. So I guess the one v has sense 4.

Anyone else feel frustrated as hell that HTC not only drags their feet on OTA upgrades, but never includes the latest Sense version? Like the Rezound for example, we will get upgraded to ICS, but the Sense stays at 3.6, mean while the new One series debuts with Sense 4.0 which the Rezound should easily run.

Do we? We currently have a hack that is pretty unstable and has a long way to go. (no offense to the devs that have put in a lot of great work) It will come eventually (hopefully sooner as I can't wait to put it on my rezound) but there is nothing like a company produced product (especially after tweaking) that comes from a development organization with all of the source code and knowledge in house. (Let's also not forget the system test group that beats it up for months before release)

maybe the newest update, but I ran the previous one and even setting everything up the way he instructed, I had to pull down the status bar to and back to get any click on the screen to register.
I appreciate what he is doing, but its still a frankenstein port of 3 different phones which usually means there will be some bugs.
Not that I care that much about sense 4, we won't get it because they have said its only for the new phones going forward. Its a business decision.
HTC has never updated Sense on there phones to a new version. Meaning if your phone has Sense 1.0 they would go 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc but you wouldn't see 2.0 on that device.
This is how HTC has always worked so not sure why people are still surprised by it.

I have come from Froyo on the Wildfire to the DX with ICS...well i can still do all what i have done in the past, but much better.
What improvements will JB bring to the DX. Can some one explain what we should see.
I have seen some one already explain, but it would be nice to get another point of view.
Some have issues and some dont, it confusing for us noobs:silly:
What is the hype behind it.
The reason why i am concerned is that some guys want to revert back to ICS, and thats not what it should be. JB should be an improvement.
lastly, the few hicups people have with the latest JB, could it be to an app or user related issue.

Same as you I have came from Froyo to Jelly Bean itself first of all the update was great Speed improvements were there (example is scrolling wallpapers in personalize its feels like the HTC One. Second the new software We all know Beats audio got screwed up by the OTA but HTC fixed it with anothe OTA and now bass is back This Update also enables us to test new software and to discover new things with Sense 4+ and also a feel of Jelly Bean, remember not all devices could get an update from their own manufacturers so were lucky enough to get this lol now we just need to deodex the stock JB ROM and custom ROMs would be all over the forum (I could do one now just no time to deodex the JB Stock ROM).
Wow, this is a positive post. Positive info that i expected.

See it this way,
Jelly bean is the LATEST android OS (although 4.2 > 4.1) but still, the CURRENT SUPER PHONE (HTC ONE) which gives Galaxy IV a scare, was also on 4.1.2 and will get 4.2.2 in a few days. So technically, after JB update, we are having one of the most updated devices around for such money.
Think again what happens to similarly priced samsung n sony phones, (believe me, most are stuck at ICS officially forever).
ON-TOPIC:
JB Sense4+ might not be what you expect, BUT the kernel source code, and libs will enable atis112 and others to port FULLY WORKING CM10 ROMS with Project Butter.
We'll soon get kernel 3.4 source which will be a platform for YEARS to come and keep this device alive. believe me.
My cousins with xperia U/sola, galaxy duos, etc will be stuck @ ICS officially.
Regards
Yasir

Yasir, thankyou for your post, it does give me confidence going forward.
Although i dont understand your last sentence, but it does sound good any way.
I said yesterday that Jelly bean is not so cool..i was stupid, its f....n awesome. Its faster than ICS, web browser and downaloading too. Right now my download speed is 2,5mb/s. With ICS it was hardly reach 1mb/s. Google Now is really good, i can search the nearest restaurent with my voice and it supports hungarian so its good for those who dont speak english (like me )

I'd like to say something on this thing since Yasir already mentioned it(sorry op kind of off-topic)
the 3.4 kernel is actually very exciting because currently barring HTC jb devices this is present on only the latest nexus devices(4, 10) only even nexus 7 is on 3.1 and Samsung devices(yes even s3) is on 3.0 .Thus we are currently on the latest version (officially not true android on 3.8 but we are one of the top few and latest currently) . Also this proves that HTC put a lot of effort (yeah was a Samsung Guy so I know what I'm talking about) thus according to me we should get 4.2 also(surity of about 83%) the real question will be if we get 5.0 or not.
PS I like the stripped down sense.
Htc One X JB kernel : 3.1
Wow, Desire X has a newer kernel, awesome.

All of you are talking about newer kernel, but how will it affect the end user experience? I don't talk about developers, i mean people that buy phone and don't even know about custom ROMs, using stock firmware

You can mock people with high end phones just kidding (although it's true) but don't know the real reason for user who's no developer.

I've been using the iPhone since the 3G and am ready for something new. I've been looking at the HTC One and Samsung GS4. During my reviews of the HTC One, I read that HTC was in a financial meltdown. If this is indeed true, how would this affect the support/future updates for the HTC One?
I'm not familiar with Android yet and whether one can just put the latest custom ROM onto the device and have the latest version of Android or if the manufacturer plays any key role in these updates. Please advise. Thanks.
