Which phone do you recommand to get ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
I am currently on HTC DHD , Love using it but time has come to put it to rest and get a new phone
Please suggest a new phone that i can get , Any brand is ok will me , What i look for in a phone
1 - Good phone spec
2 - Good design
3 - Phone brand
Any suggestion will be great
Thanks You
< Currently samsung galaxy note is my first choice >

I'd say Galaxy Note should definitely be on your list. Monster specs and it's getting ICS by march, too. Might be a little too big for some but my friend got used to it in a few days.
Galaxy Nexus wins my heart design-wise. The specs are not top notch but it's still a performer as ICS is optimized for it... I really loved it even though I was only able to test it for 30 minutes.
Another option is to wait for Galaxy S III... If you can, that is.

If I looking for design, Xperia Arc is my favorite. But if I looking for phone spec, then galaxy s2 is my fovorite.

Looks like the samsung galaxy family is the first choice for people , Would like some more suggestion

if I am not hurry,
I will wait for Galaxy S III!!

the new Moto Razr is also not bad
cool design
nice display
and really good material
only bad thing is the cam
maybe someone can do a hack to get better pics like on SGS2

HTC Sensation are really nice. Nice specs and nice design. They also come with HTC sense and it will have ICS on march as well.

galaxy note meet your requiredment

Get the Sensation! Excellent dev support and good specs and camera. Nice aluminium body design! And the best part is its HTC!

Best android phone?

I'm planning to buy/upgrade to a new android phone but I don't know what phone to choose. I'm wondering what's the best android phone out right now for Sprint?
I think Samsung I9100 is The best choice
Yup.. Galaxy S 2 all day!
You should wait for the HTC One X at least.. it'll be out soon
What is your budget
Well what are you looking for in a phone, the latest?, the biggest? etc
If you're on a thight budget maybe a older Samsung Galaxy S1 will fill your needs escpecially with a 4.0.3 rom from this forum on it.
I'd go with the samsung galaxy s2 personnally.
Definitely the better well-rounded high-end phone, imho.
I think HTC ONE X is best android phone
Sony xperia S
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
The HTC one X, only annoyance is the lcd screen.
Has to be HTC one X, Samsung Nexus or Galaxy S2 (or S3 when its out).
Or if you dont mind the size, how about the Samung Galaxy Note??
All good phones, plenty of happy users here and plenty of support as well!!!
Galaxy S2
what about samsung galaxy nexus?
I've owned the HTC Inspire, the Motorola Atrix, the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Note, and now the Galaxy Nexus, all of which I've rooted and used for extended periods of time, and I've gotta say that of all the phones I've owned, the Galaxy Nexus is my favorite. Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich is deliciously smooth D) and, though I absolutely loved my Galaxy Note's huge screen and S Pen, the 4.65" screen is still plenty big and offers a great media experience, and it's nice that you can customize the three on-screen softkeys and even add more if the new layout's not your thing. The camera's not quite up to par with the S II and the Note, but it still produces good-looking video and stills. I honestly can't make the Nexus lag no matter how hard I try, which says a lot for a six-month-old phone when compared to the brand new HTC One X that still lags and stutters despite its quad-core processor and all-around superior specs (though that's at the fault of the always increasingly bloated Sense UI, not the hardware). I'm sure that can be remedied on the One X with custom ROMs and better optimization, but if you're looking for flawless performance out of the box, the Nexus is what I'd recommend. Couple that with Sprint's new LTE network and you'll have yourself quite the badass phone. Honestly though, between the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Nexus, and the EVO 4G LTE (One X), you really can't go wrong. None of them are by any means bad phones, so just go to a Sprint store, spend 5 or 10 minutes with each of them, and take your pick, and revel in the fact that if you're not happy with your choice in 30 days it's not too late to swap it out!
I made some suggestions to another fellow who had a similar question

Go for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3

I like both phones, and both have their ups and down.
I like both companies new iterations of their proprietary skins, Sense 4.0 looks great and TouchWiz (5?) has a bunch of new helpful features (and I like old ones such as swipe a name to call/message). The One X definately wins in the looks department but I don't think the SGS III is as ugly as most make it out to be. However I hear the battery life isn't so great on the One X, and a portion of the screen is wasted for an onscreen menu button due to HTC basing it on the layout Google set out (which is stupid I think, there's no reason to have a seperate multitasking button when holding down Home for 1-2 seconds works perfectly fine.)
All in all I think the SGS III offers more benefits to the user, even if HTC does win in certain areas (better looking, better camera, more refined interface). If I were actually buying one of the two I'd like to try them out side by side before making a final decision, but at this stage I'm going to say Galaxy S III.
S3 cuz of us storage mode and lte

I think htc is better software and design wise but the s3 might have better battery life and camera also samsung tends to have phone really lightweight but it just depends what you prefer : sense or touchwiz?

After using the sensation for about a month I had to get rid of it because of sense. I seriously do not like sense.. It really annoys me for some reason. I know that you'd probably be able to root it and custom rom the One X but to be honest i would much rather just go with the s3.
I would say the S3. I like every spec that it have. Im not going to say that the X One is a bad phone because it isn't, its a great great phone, but i just like Samsung more.

I like how Samsung is focusing on Software, why make a super pocket computer if you dont have good apps to exploit that power?
S-voice is something that should have been present on Android earlier...
The good thing is that is very probable to see all that software ported to other devices
I'm still very happy with my HTC Sensation XL, but if I would buy a new phone now it would definatly be the One X.
I was really looking forward to the Galaxy S III, but the plastic keeps me away again.

+1 my exact same thought. except i would never get caught holding a samsung phone.
Hello guys.
This is something I'm wondering about as I'm planning to buy a new device soon. I love HTC's build quality and the Legend was the best looking phone I've ever owned.
On the other hand, I'm currently using a Galaxy S i9000 which I absolutely hated out of the box but fell in love with once I discovered the great work by developers on this site.
Development for i9000 and Samsung in general is very active here. Could an HTC owner please tell me how it is on the other side of the fence? My decision will eventually come down to the availability of custom ROMS from XDA.

Another S3 vote here.
The only thing the HOX has over the S3 is the screen, and that's debatable depending on whether you prefer LCD or AMOLED and their accompanying traits.
Both great phones, but the S3 wins on processor/GPU grunt and software innovation.
The slight camera advantage that the HOX had has been demolished by Samsung copying it's main features and bettering them (burst mode, best shot, voice activated capture) - and Samsung cameras have always been pretty good hardware-wise anyway.
SD card support, removable battery, probably better battery life (than the Tegra 3 HOX), the list goes on - and that's even before you get into the software side of things which I won't bother with as I assume you have/are capable of looking all that up.

2nd times 10. Samsung phones feel so dang cheap you forget about what a good phone should feel like. I hated my GSII and went to the HTC One S and it is just night and day for me. I get signal in places I didn't before. The slim form factor and the build quality and just so superior. Never say never but I doubt I will be grabbing another Samsung. (Vibrant owner and GSII)
Obviously there is no perfect phone as I am not a fan of where they put the volume buttons and how large they are in contrast to the wake\sleep button but overall outstanding device. My good friend keep on about his One X and I see why. Sense has some really nice things about it. Twiz is the devil. Add to that Samsung's update issue and industry worse no looking back to support devices and that is enough for me. I am not saying they are wrong it just doesn't work for me going forward.
I really like the design & build quality of HTC One X.. Both are polycarbonate plastic but HTC did the right thing! But SGS III beats One X in almost every single category.. So SGS III for me.. I don't care about the design anyway since i will use casing.. lol

[Q] Samsung Galaxy SII vs HTC One S

Greetings,
I'm looking for new phone. I have Galaxy Ace at the moment.
Was looking between SGS2 and HTC One S.
One S is way better on papers but all the about it say "don't go for it"
Chipping, home screen button problems, etc
And SGS2 is now almost 2y old phone.
And what about One S battery? What if my phone freeze? I can't remove battery so what then? That sound stupid.
Now I really don'k know which one to buy?
Many thanks!
S2 is far better in overall and has good android development for it I say go for it or u can try xperia s
Sent from my GT-S5360 using Tapatalk
Is it that better then SGS2?
I don't need 12MP camera or more then 8Gb on my phone. So both looks great to me.
Didn't research much about Xepria S so don't know much about Xperia S flaws.
EDIT:
And i'm not sure about battery life on xperia s
EDIT2:
I'm more into better screen, performance and battery life ;D
As you said the S2 is old by now while the One S is brand new. It has a very snappy dual core processor and nice screen. And the build quality is above the S2. I had the S2 and am now rocking the One X and I have to say the build quality is years away in the HTC. And the one S has the same uni body polycarbonate build as the X has.
Plus you get software Beats audio enhancements and Sense 4 UI which I think it's better looking than Touchwiz.
Your call.

Thanks for the replay!
Now its 1:1 = SGS2 / One S
And Ill be on my way to get new phone in about 2h from now
nevrozel what about HTC when it freeze? Battery is not removable
My sister went from an SGS2 to the One S. Screen is better as higher ppi, despite being a pentile its not that bad, better camera, sense is better than touchwiz, better sound quality via headphones. Its fast and has good battery life too. Looks nice and feels solid in the hand. Both are good but it opt for the One S as its newer and more likely to be supported longer by HTC.

Moving to Q&A
galaxy s2 is 1 year old, not 2.
but go for the one s, it's much faster device, higher resolution (still amoled), and ics on non-s3 devices isn't that great i heard... still the same touchwiz 4 feel (not even widgets in app drawer!).
in terms of touchwiz 4.0 vs sense 4, sense wins.
and im guessing htc has probably implemented some kind of emergency off feature such as the iphone, where it'll turn off the phone no matter what kind of state it's in. ask around on the one forums if there's such a feature.
One s is better than s2 but it has non user replaceble battery and can break if fallen frm a hieght !!!!

I second that, S4 (Krait, SoC in One S) is absolute killer.

Sorry for the long time it took me to reply.
In the end I have bought Galaxy S2.
The price for SGS2 in the end was 200€ and for One S 470€ so no hard choice in the end.
At first both had same price, but 2 days before I went to shop SGS2 got new price. Yay
But had some problems first SGS2 i got was I9100G so took me like 7 days till I got normal version.

[Q] What phone will be best for me ?

Hi, I'm now using iPhone 4 and i looked over android, i cant see now how i used iOS!?
now i looked for the best phone for me, and i chose gNexus, i liked the clear android over Sense and much over touchwiz! , i tried to get one and it didn't worked out (i want to buy my next phone in USA, i live in Israel and in USA its much(!) cheaper!)
so my sis going to NY in the next month, and that is my opportunity to get new phone. but then i realized the nexus has poor hardware, and im not sure is gonna last 2 years as main phone !
I'm considering the S3 which is beast in hardware , but going to be beast so its not going to be unique and that something i really want after iphone 4! another thing is that its not nexus, and the updates will come late! pros are battery , quad core , giant screen , 50g at dropbox)
another phone I'm thinking of is the One X, This phone is awesome!! its beautiful! Sense is beautiful!, its also a beast in hardware! but that's the end,
i heard that the battery is poor, its still heavy because the sense 4, the video frame rate is poor, and i even heard on poor performance on NOVA . so it turned me off..
im sorry for the long thread, but my next phone, and my first android phone is very important for me, its going to be my phone for the next 2 years.
Thank you very much XDA (BTW , i searched allot about every phone, but what i need here is personal experience , something that not always objective).
I would recommend checking out HTC. They have very productive, useful devices.

looks lame !
its look old and weak !
another suggestions?
So right now there's 3 phones you have your eyes on, but still open to suggestions.
I would suggest the Galaxy S III if you are looking for a phone for two years.
Galaxy Nexus is a very wonderful phone. Best selling point would be that its fast to get updates, but hardware is already dated since its been released over half a year ago.
HTC One X is beautiful, but that's all. Its beautiful, but doesn't really have any other features that would put it above the Galaxy S III. I see the One X as a device that's an improvement over the Galaxy Nexus in terms of speed and power, but nothing spectacular.
Galaxy S III on the other hand is comparable to the One X in terms of speed and most likely surpassing it in that field too. Beyond that, there are many other features that are equal to the One X and has quite a few features that the One X does not have.
I vote for the S III mainly because it offers more in terms of hardware and software.
I think Samsung Galaxy SIII or Nexus. Or wait for HTC One XXL.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Varience,
thanks for your helpful comment! you summarized the subject pretty good , i think i choose the SIII over the others, because he is the combination between good hardware and allot of Roms (im sure he will get allot of roms).
to ServeTT the HTC One XXL sound really good on paper !!! (but so do the one x)
when will he come out ?
the phone i really want, is the next nexus, all the benefits of the current awesome nexus plus hardware that last 2 years and not one thats already is old
I am quite against buying HTC devices. They don't support our development community and sense is hideous and slow. The only thing I like is their build quality ..
I would get a Samsung galaxy s3, touchwiz 5 jellybean and ics actually looks pretty good!. There buold quality is better for the s3, Plus Sammy supports our development
But over all I love the galaxy nexus phones the best cause they look so good and are pure . But maybe wait for the new nexus to come out, it will be the best phone in hardware and software. And will get all updates.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
HTC One X - OUT - by reading, its beautiful and thats it, its close, and not as good as others..
S3 or the next Nexus , That is the question!
When the next nexus predicted to be released ?
if more than month (that is almost sure thing),
i think it will be the S3, its the strongest hardware, and its development community have to be great!, thanks you all !

Android phone for a lady ?

Hi my girlfriend has birthday next month and she was talking latelly thank she'd like to have a smartphone because she'd love to surf internet on the go, listen to music ( she's using some old mp3 player atm ), check e-mail etc.
She's been using a classic candy bar phones for years and I was thinink that as her bday is comming I could get smartphone for her as a gift.
But I'm not really sure which model would suit a total newbie in the smartphone world ? She's never used a touch screen phone, she only played littlebit with mine Nexus 7.
I use HTC HD7 personally and it comes with Windows Phone 7 but i thought Android would be better for her because of more apps, etc.
Is there anything you could recommend ?
Battery life longer than 20h would be great ( mine HD7 last like 26-28h )
Thanks !
White Galaxy s II or III depends on your budget .
the smooth interface and lightweight design make these some of the best performing phones right out of the box to date battery life depends on usage but you can ussually get bout 16+ hours of normal use which is very good for android+ the large display. If it were me definetly the galaxy s III
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
How about something smaller ?
I think 4+ inch will be too big for her hands.
Mine HD7 is sometimes too big for me and my hands are bigger.
Galaxy Ace 2 white, 3.8 inch, 2 cams, ics upgrade coming in, good price and also a good entry phone.

Xperia u or galaxy mini 2 or htc one v..., it really depends on how much you want to spend on it and you should know her better than i do (lol), so if she doesn't like suprises you should ask her to pick one for herself

That Galaxy Ace 2 looks interesting I'll look into it. Thank you.
Any more models you could think of ? I'd like to have a bigger spectrum of choices.
Samsung Captivate (4', a lot of support from community), Motorola Atrix 4G or Atrix 2 (4', Tegra II or OMAP dual core), SE Mini ST15 (3')

I gave mine an HTC One S (blue), after having used the iphone 3gs for 2 year, she's very satisfied with the One S, great battery life too up to 5 days. Sense really is a great addition to android, especially for non-techies but if you get the one S be sure to get the snapdragon 4 variant not the the s3 variant.
From my experience , ladies that are generally not geeky prefer something that fits their hands, like some 3.7-4" htc. And on top of that if its pink... well, lets just say she'll be more than glad
I recently suggested htc wildfire to a friend of mine who never had android before. Shes now a successful convert to our beloved OS
Yup I've decided to go for Samsung Galaxy Mini 2.
Unfortunatelly resolution isn't the greatest but it's is a really nice little device. She had old nokia anyway so for her that resolution is going to be a huge step forward anyway.
Perfect size, nice and round edges and it's really good looking and it wasn's super expensive either. She'll be happy with it I'm sure.
Thank you guys for all sugestions !

My girlfriend has a Galaxy S (the original one) and she loves it. The fact that it's running Android meant she was able to turn the home screen and app drawer into a hideous mess of pink and sparkles...
I'd recommend skipping that for the S2 though. Absolutely AMAZING smartphone, near perfection, and you get ICS on it now so it's faster and more functional. I'd skip the Galaxy 'Ace' range as most people I know who have one struggle with it due to it being a little bit too underpowered for what it's trying to run.

Haha that happened to my girlfriends Iphone after i jailbroke it and taught her how to theme it. The next day she shows me her phone and its all baby blue and pink all over the place. I keep telling her all the theming stuff is easier on android but girls tend to like the iphone because it is more of a fashion accessory and dont tend to care too much about what their phone can do.
Well in some ways iPhone can do more though, there's way more on the app store, you just have less control over the fundamentals.
She bought an Xperia U today. Pink on the inside AND outside, even got the light to go pink, lol
