Mobile Odin from the market .
Stock firmware from Sammobile.com
i have tried flashing these from external SD card but to no avail since in the recovery mode i am unable to enter the external sd card i have no idea why

Search Sammobile.com for firmware tarballs.
If you cant find a tarball kernel then flash a PDA ROM and reinstall your nandroid backup if you have one(and everyone who flashes ROMs should). It would be another option.

Get Odin from here & your original firmware from here & flash that.
Flash instructions are in the 2nd link & very clear.

also do u know why it doesnt read any of the zip roms on my sdcard?
No, it won't make a massive amount of difference if you flash firmware for another country. What country are you in/what telco do you use ?
No. No idea why CW Recovery can't read any of the roms on your SD card. Sounds like CW Recovery might be broken.
well im from australia with Vodaphone
well i could run the zips just fine before i flashed my phone but after i flashed it, it cant read anyfiles i even tried another sd card same result
I'm with Vodafone as well. Download/flash KJ1.
As I said, something obviously isn't working if it can see any files on the SD card. Flash the stock firmware & we'll go from there.
thankyou, im in the progress of flashing with odin and i put that big file into PDA but were do i put that 5mb kernal in odin? or do i not neet it

Kernal is part of PDA file does not require a separate kernel flash .
jje
um what does that mean, do i ignore it when flashing with odin, i just put the big 500mb file in the PDA section and pressed start i didnt use the 5 mb files
god it didnt work i flashed it with GT-I9100T_VAU_I9100TDUKJ1_I9100TVAUKJ1_I9100TDUKJ1.TAR.md5
and it stuck at the loading S screen then goes to the vodafone screen back and forth??
are you sure your backups are not just on your internal sd and not external?
i managed to install it, but now i cant root, i folowed the rooting guide exactly and succefully flashed the kernal with odin but it says i havent rooted yet
I made a grave mistake today, I wiped everything in my internal sd card. Now it won't boot anymore. It is just booting from the galaxy s2 logo. I followed the guide in the the wiki of cyanogenmod
The part where i made a mistake is in the "Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card." I thought that the root of the sd card is in my external microsd card. So I proceeded and put the update.zip in the microsd card.. Then I did Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe cache partition. After that I tried to find the update.zip but can't find it anywhere.
So I rebooted my galaxy s2, then bang it won't start anymore. It just loops in the galaxy s2 logo part.
So I searched google and found out that I wiped everything in my internal sd card including the stock galaxy s2 software. i made the biggest mistake of the year.
I mistakenly put the cm9 in my external sd card.. The clockwork mod can't read the external sd card. So now i'm stock with a brick galaxy s2
Please help me. I just started this rooting thing and now my galaxy s2 is bricked.
I know the odin application can help me flash a new rom. But i don't know where to proceed. What rom should I download?
If i can install a custom rom using odin i know this can help me fix my problem.
Please guide me. im begging all of you.
Can you still put your phone in download mode? if you can, then you can probably install stock rom.after that you can root your phone again. have you tried intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
Sounds to me like you didn't flash a proper kernel. You'll get stuck at the boot logo if that happens.

yes. i think thats what happened. please help me fix this.
I would advise you use odin to flash a stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 use this to download a stock rom / root it. Then you can flash any rom after that!
I deleted my internal on purpose
You say Clockwork Mod can't recognise your External SD card, so i presume you can get into recovery?. if you're running a custom recovery like Clockwork and you can get in to recovery you'll be ok.
Dl a custom rom (checkrom) or kernel which supports external sd card, (like siyah or something) Connect your phone to your pc, and boot into recovery. Go to storage options in recovery and mount your phone. Your internal memory should be available to view in your pc. Copy across the file(s) you downloaded and Install the zip. The custom rom will bring you back to speed, or the custom kernel will allow you to flash whatever you had on your External SD to begin with. I recommend the rom flash though.
There should be plenty of help regarding Odin in the forums. Let us know how you get on.

If you wiped internal sd card you need to remove and replace battery enter download mode and flash a stock rom via ODIN .As you have wiped the entire OS so phone cannot boot to something that no longer exists .
Any stock rom will recover your phone logic says use one for your location .

i fixed it!!! thank you for your help!! hahaha im so happy. thank you very much kind sir
Happy to help, and good to hear it worked out
This is how you learn about custom roms, i think its good to get a bootloop etc. because it forces you to try troubleshoot and increases your knowledge.
and also if you can get into CWM recovery then thats generally a good sign and things can be recovered from there.
glad everything worked for you.
Hi, I need a stock odin ICS ROM (preferably 4.0.4) for my GS2 so that I can unbrick it. I was using [email protected] and when I installed Resurrection-remix_ics_V1.7_AOKP-Build34_4.0.4 over it all I got was the boot logo and then a black screen. When I start on recovery mode it will only allow me to install from an external source.
thanks in advance
if you are able to get Download mod,
pick the ICS roms from here and flash from ODIN
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
there is no ODIN flashable 4.0.4 official ROM released.
YOu are not bricked, mount your sd card from CWM to pc, download some rom zips , copy it to your card and flash it from cwm.
Many thanks, ZaC!
Hi all
Just wondering if any good developer has come up with
Flashable firware up grades via sd card for GT-S5690 Xcover.
Similar process like flashing a touch pad.
I know the process of rooting works this way no issue there .
Now i don't mean odin or kies or rom manager as these are bricking tools(as i found out the hard way ).
Was on m2extreme but is only for download flash via usb and odin etc .
But flashing a firmware via sd in recovery mode using the update option.
ie. If you could just grab the latested or older versions of firmware put it on your sd ,
boot to recovery, update and job done .
This would be a nice way of upgrading in a very simple format .
please maintain thread on the topic only and try not to move away from the main point of the thread
cheers

First have you tried a factory reset in recovery...If that does not work have you got eternal sd card and reader put rom on there...If you cant flash back to stock with odin if you can get in download mode.
