I done almost everything i could but no result. I know i mast have the advanced network unchecked but with no result. If i conect the power or air phones all working. Do i need any special Micro usb cable or can i use the reduction from Micro USB to Female USB i got with the phone?? I bought AA USB cable (male to male) so i could connect phone to pc with the micro usb reduction i got with the phone but nothing happend even the standard windows sound when you connect usb device in. When i use micro usb reduction to conect usb key right to the phone is working and i can copy thing from the usb key to storage card it the phone so micro usb in the phone should be ok. So the question is do i need any special AA USB cable or what do i do wrong???? I used couple of rooms now i have the original UK orange so there shouldn't be a problem. anybody can help pleaaas ?????

you wrote so much, but one is important: OS on your PC? Windows 7 or Vista has WindowsMobileCenter other Windows System need ActiveSync Software. If this correct installed, the system load the driver for tg01 and Sync is possible. Not a special USB Cable needed. A-USB to A-micro USB. On tg01 you can switch ActivSync or USB Storage function.

Good Morning
When I want to connect my droid X phone to my laptop, the cable is usb on one end and micro usb on the other end. So can I use that on my Sony S also to connect to the laptop? or are there different wires inside the cable or something so that I cannot use it, different wattage or amperage or whatever??
As always I am technically challenged LOL
Sandy
The Sony Tablet S uses the standard Micro-USB cable so you'll be able to connect to your laptop with no problems.
It will work for both, given the chip( Mini USB) is the same for both. The cable just carries the current. It is the charger portion that puts out the specific voltages. You are good to go as long as the mini USB fits

Really? This works?
Uh oh. I've tried hooking up my tablet to the PC with a standard micro usb cable. And also with the sony converter that makes it a normal sized USB port and a double ended USB cable. Both of these didn't do anything for me. I've just been transferring files to/from it with the sony converter and a jump drive.
Anyways, let me know if everyone else is normally hooking the tablet to a PC or if you guys are just assuming. Thanks

You should only need the one cable.. The cable I use for my HTC Desire HD works on the tablet and the same with the cable for the Galaxy S II as they are the same kind of cable.
Just connect micro USB, from tablet to PC and it works

Same here. I plug it in with a cheap USB <-> Micro-USB cable and it recognises it instantly and I can copy stuff to and from without even having to mount the storage manually.
Weird!! I tried plugging it in with my normal phone's micro usb cable when I first bought it and nothing happened. I tried again last night and nothing happened.
I just read all your posts about how it will work and I tried again, and my computer recognized it this time.
**This post is brought to you by the power of believing, apparently**
lol
The other day I plugged my x10 mini pro, (u20i) into my laptop to transfer some pictures over and the "USB Connected" flashed on and off in the notification bar, since then, the mini usb on the u20i has not worked for anything other than charging, I'm assuming it's a hardware failure but am hoping theres an easy fix for this as I now have no access to flashmode, adb, or data transfer, charging still works fine, I've tried wiping data and doing a factory reset and a complete reinstalltion of the rom but the problem persists, I'm running minicm7 2.2.0 rom using naa 11 kernel, PC companion also doesn't detect it and windows itself says that the usb device has malfunctioned and can't be detected, I'm gonna try accessing the bootloader through terminal emulator and flashing the kernel again incase something somehow got corrupted and will post the results, but I'm guessing it won't get detected anyways.
Anyone who has experienced this, or has any ideas are welcome, as without adb and flashmode I'm kinda stuck, thanks in advance.
Edit: Tried accessing flashmode (bootloader) through the terminal emulator and the phone realizes the usb is in and stays in flashmode (screen off, Green led lit) like it should but the pc still doesn't recognize it. Everything else I plug in to the pc's usb ports work so it's not the pc either.
Also I restored a backup where I know the usb was working and stil get the same results
Tried lots of different cables including the one that came with the phone, still no luck
I had something similar with my X10 Mini Pro. The USB connection would only work if I had the cable in just the right angle.
Unfortunately, it's a common issue with the design of USB ports. Repeated plugging and unplugging can lead to bits being bent. I had a company laptop that eventually only had one of the four USB ports working.
What I ended up doing with the phone was getting a very short cable (about two inches) and hanging the phone from it. I've got a tower PC and this ensured a connection every time.

my mini has a similar issue, holding the cable does the trick
for charging, i need to place the phone at the border of a table, the cable being in the air...
only way left to charge everyday

Thanks for the replies guys, I have the same problem with charging, cable needs to be at the right angle to work, but it won't work with the data connection.
again, thanks for the replies
Typed on my mimmi using naa kernel and rom
Yes, Finally got it working, after hours of fiddling, prodding and poking I finally got the pc to detect it, just had to get the cable in at the right angle, I though I'd shorted something on the main board and could never use it again, cm9 here I come
Hi.
I have an Xperia X10 that I gave to my husband. He's good with computers etc.. and he went ahead and unlocked and rooted this phone. It's working awesome - EXCEPT - when you plug it into the computer via USB the computer will NOT recognize it. It says exactly, " "USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctions, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"".
Here is a bit of background info:
Before my husband rooted the phone etc. the micro usb port on the phone wasn't working properly - it was loose and you would have to really wiggle it, bend it etc.. to make the debug engage. He did get it to flash/root/unlock/install custom rom successfully ( he installed doomkernel 2.6.29-modFXP-DooMKernel-v06) all while the phones usb wasn't working ideally. At this point he was trying out some settings and branded it as a X10i Generic. (This phone WAS a Rogers phone and we are in Canada). He then wanted to change the branding since x10i wasn't working too great. At this point the USB port on the phone wouldn't engage into debug or charge anymore so we took it to a repair place and they soldered the usb port back - they told us this was common (them coming loose). After they soldered it they said it wouldn't go into debug and that it was because (probably) of the firmware my husband put on but didn't really know.
From that day on this phone has never connected to the computer successfully - the computer won't even recognize it as a memory card - as soon as you plug it in it tries to install drivers and then the computer says exactly this::
"USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctions, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"
Our computer is running Windows 7 (64bit) - and the phone use to work fine.
We have tried using SDK tool, installing drivers manually when the phone is plugged in, but the computer will just say that it is already up to date, and it names the phone ' UNKNOWN DEVICE" and has the exclamation box next to it indicating it's malfunctioned. Sony software (PC Comp. etc) also will not detect the phone.
Have been trying to get this working for about 2 months now. 2 months of reading, google searches, more reading, trying idea after idea, and it doesn't work.
Has this happened to anyone else? Can someone help out here? Is this a firmware/software problem (maybe because it's been branded as a x10i)? Or could this all be a matter of the USB port being improperly fixed?
Facing same USB malfunctioned issue
I am facing the same issue since quite long since i have rooted my Samsung Galaxy 2 SGH T-989. My phone gets connected properly but when i try to transfer any of the files from computer to my phone. It gets disconnected automatically after copying the stuff till 5% to 10% and shows ''USB device has malfunctioned".
I am also trying to search and rectify this issue, but till now i have found nothing. Please let me know if you come across of kind of solution for it.
Im sometimes facing the that unrecognized USB but, everthing working.

I faced the exact same problem with my x10 mini. It wouldn't charge properly nor connect to my PC. I would have to wiggle the micro USB port and cable to get it working, which actually got me wondering if the problem was really the USB port. After I've bought a male-male USB to micro USB cable everything worked fine. Same thing happened with a brand new x10. I tried to use the USB cable I bought instead of the original one which came with the phone and you wouldn't guess, everything works fine.
So try to connect it with another USB - micro USB cable.

We have already tried connecting it to all of the (10) usb ports on our computer and we have tried NUMEROUS cables ( between my husband and I we have probably 8 cables, and have tired them all)
Hi,
Having a problem since a few weeks with my s3.
Normally i could connect wiht my phone to any pc,, without any problems. Either it be unix, win, whatever...
Suddnely it stopped working, only thing that happens is charging when i connect it to my pc. Different cables tested, original one, etc..
Connecting it to different pc's resulted in a no go.. so it must be phone related.
No windows pop up, or anything!!
So I figured: Let's install a new rom.
Tried ultima 15 rom, got a different CM rom now (sentinel)... all to no avail.
Is it possible that this has something to do with my radio?
rom info:
android: 4.3
baseband: CEEMG2
Anyone have an idea what to do? Even ADB push ain't working..
See your identical post
I experienced the same problem when m using the Galaxy Nexus S But it was solved by using the app from play store named SD booster... In this app m just set the value of sd card to 1024 give root access and Boom my phone is connected as normal
If this not help then i seriously recommend you to replace the charging port of the mobile through samsung outlet
Go into developer settings, some ROMs may have different ways to get into develop er setting and after you get in make sure USB debugging is enable ^.^
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Usb debugging is not required for phone to pc connection see basic faqs and guides .
But as OP has ruled out drivers and cable that only leaves the phone so its worth trying .
Usual replies are
Drivers
Cable
Dirty USB Ports
Not connected to main-board usb port .
I had same issue with my Galaxy SII and when i took it to service center they said mother board needs to be replaced.
So after that SII was good as new.
Got same problem here.
phone is charging over usb , but no data connection (tried different usb cables, different usb ports, different pc etc) but nothing..
also.. tried in download mode and so (after reading forums..) but without success.
then i decided to dissasemble that phone and look, what's inside that beast
cleaned usb port (inside, with contact cleaner), resoldered all pins and etc..
reassembled it back to one piece again and still, no data connection, but only charging
so, here i am, what to do next ? change the usb port on motherboard ?
(visually, everything looks right, good solder points and etc.)
Thanks, Martin

if anybody interested:
i've got it working again :victory:
basically, the problem was the hard way (crap usb data connections on motherboard)
soldered new ways for data+ and data-, and now it's back alive again...
(pictures of ways in attachment)
Martin
see you fixed it already but a note to others :
try using usb port right on the motherboard instead of the case front panel usb ports.....connecting to the front usb ports didn't work for me on some roms, but the rear one always connected so I just have a long cable running out of the back to connect my phone and it works on all roms I've used so far
Nice work hani93, i unfortunately do not dare to desolder and solder this stuff
I've noticed another thing though which is weird!!
When i tried to charge my phone via the power charger (the ac one?), when i check my battery view it still says that i'm charging via USB.
I don't think this is correct, i thought it should say AC or something and when charging via USB port on pc it should display USB?
I think this might be one of the issues that it's also not popping up on the computer.
Anyone know what is causing this or someone can confirm that when charging via power supply it should say something else then USB?
Just confirming your question when charging by PC it says (USB) and when its charging from the Mains it says (AC).
hmmm... guess it must be a hardware issue then?
Either usb port or mainboard... christ...
open it up and cleaned the contacts a bit of the usb port...
Still not functioning..

try to go into Download mode (volDown+Home+Power) and then connect usb, same situation?(eg, no data connection to pc ?)
if nothing again.. try to clean usb port inside (where you plug usb cable), sometimes there is dust and etc. then it stops working.
also, how did you clean contacts on motherboard ? i suggest to take soldering iron with clean bit, and drag iron along the pins.
