Just curious if clockwork recovery mod is even supported for the viewpad 7e?
Can I root the viewpad 7e? Yes, with Gingerbreak 1.2
Can I manually install Google Marketplace? Yes, but some apps refuse to install.
Can I enter into recovery mode? Yes. Hold power and volume up works, timing is needed. But pressing power + volume up + volume down DOES NOT work.
Can I use adb shell? Nope. Device not found, ever.
Now I suspect that in order to get my device to be detected, even though I have 3 gigs of android sdk components downloaded and installed, its just not there. Windows Device Manager lists it in Other Devices as a ViewPad 7e and no known driver that im aware of will resolve this in device manager. Yes I have USB debuging turned on in /Settings/Applications/Development and tried the USB drivers that came with the SDK, but its always listed in Other Devices. Because windows cannot see my tablet, my tablet cannot be seen in ADB Shell.
So im basically left with no choice but to use Root Explorer to copy the flash_image and recovery.img files to the /system/bin folder and manually execute commands. Using Better Terminal Emulator app, I cannot get it to execute the needed commands. Seems to work flawless for most Viewsonic variants, but not for the Viewpad 7e as all I get are errors.
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
error scanning partitions: No such file or directory
Basically im following a guide on Modaco.com, tinyurl.com/7gz7jm3
Can anyone here confirm that the clockwork recovery mod actually works with the Viewpad 7e? Im going in circles here trying to decipher the many different guides that cover most Viewsonic tablet devices, but none really confirm the guide will work for the 7e.

CWM does not work with 7e. We need a custom ROM or the stock ROM properly packaged with CWM. Several of us have been asking for this but no Dev wants to take it on.
Sent from my SPH D700 using XDA App
Cyanogen Mod 9.4, Shadow kernel, EI22. I like my Ice Cream Sandwich!
isn't there a dev-team that will support us little viewpad 7e fraction?
i'm looking forward it. it would be awesome.
thx

Hey guys,
I am pretty new at the whole flashing thing so please be kind.
At the moment I am trying to get CyanogenMod 7.2 onto my X10 but Flasher wont see my phone and keeps spitting out:
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
No matter what I do. I'm running standard Sony 2.3.3 rom atm.
Have baseband version 2.1.71
Kernel Version is "2.6.29-00054-g5f01537"
2nd line of stuff says "[email protected] #1"
I have been following the guides n everything but I'm not sure what I'm looking for to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated!
1. Test, USB debugging and Unknown sources is "On" in ROM settings?
2. Test in Windows Device manager, is your phone is visible as an SEMC HSUSB Device? (That is, whether the driver is properly installed)

I am bout to Tear my hair out in frustration with this now...
Been getting nothing but this if i try and get it to stay in flashmode:
INFO - <- This level is successfully initialized
INFO - Flashtool Version 0.6.5 built on 2012-01-04 19:11:08
INFO - Device connected in flash mode
(then about 2 sec later)
INFO - Device disconnected
INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
What am I doing wrong?
And I still can't get around "For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode" either...

For installation this ROM (CyanogenMod 7.2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360889) it is not necessary to use FlashTool, installation is done by CWM at satisfaction of following requirements:
You need a stock or custom rom with Android 2.3.*
You need ClockWorkMod5 installed
Copy FW on SDcard
Reboot into ClockWorkMod, wipe data/factory reset, format /system in CWM before flashing this rom.
Flash FW`s .zip from recovery
Reboot your phone (first boot will take some time)

I'm stuck same as M2geek. I used superoneclick to get root. Installed rom manager. Went in there to install clockworkmod and there is a long list of phones. Way longer than the list when you do rom manager and cwm on a samsung device.
Not one single Sony phone in the list?
Which one should I pick? HTC? Samsung? Acer? Dell? Google? Huawei? LG? Motorola? ZTE?
Good chance trial and error could soft brick me fast....
Has anyone tried using rom manager on a sony ericsson x10? How are these kids saying "i installed clockworkmod"?
No luck installing recovery with flashtool even after I installed a ton of crap to my PC like software development kit and Java which says it disabled the android debugging bridge....
Steep learning curve and no joy. I just wanna throw it the toilet. Maybe it will bubble. Bubbles are fun.
I am gonna do what it says not to and install recovery twice with flashtool next....
In I got it to boot into blue recovery and it fails to mount SD card. Says it's busy.
Another video tutorial showed using apk manager so I went and got that off the market. His showed xrecovery on youtube, and no such item showed up in the window I had. Only apps from "my apps" list appeared in the apk tool.
I am about to throw a dart at that long list I reviewed in clockworkmod.

I started it off. I started my way at the top in order to work my way down. 1st, acer liquid gave me an error, then advent vega actually work and installed an older version of clockwork mod.
It won't do anything however when I click Reboot into Recovery it just sits there and doesn't even blink.
Commtiva Z71 actually rebooted but not into recovery. It booted normally as did Dell streak, and Dell streak 7 just now. Elocity had a cool box show up for a moment (I bet I was being prompted) then proceeded to boot normally. Might have to come back to that if all else fails....

Same thing for the galaxy tab at&t. I did not get a very clear picture of it because it doesn't last very long and I can't hold still for such a short time. It's a pretty little present box with an arrow pointing up out of it and I wonder if I should push volume down or what would put this into action.....

Geeksphone ONE booted normal. No joy. Same for geeks phone 0, klicking reboot into recovery does nothing but reboot the phone normally, same for google galaxy nexus cdma, and the next one down for GSM, install, but won't boot into recovery.
Edit:
Google Galaxy Nexus One, S, and S 4G... no joy, install but no recovery.

The first 1 was just rebooted normally it installed but just rebooted normally. Next two down the list? They turned up present boxes again and I mashed buttons, nothing, just a pause and ended up booting normally.

Trying every single 1 was driving me insane so I skipped ahead, I had to, samsung galaxy s 2 and I got a present box again. I selected to boot into recovery repeatedly and tried different button combinations on the present box. No joy. I bet I need to plug into a pc for it to light up.
I am thinking Rom Manager won't give me a clockworkmod on this Ericsson. Not one that will boot into recovery anyway.
Stuck. Holding three buttons just boots normally.
Sigh.

Hi everyone,
Well I'm in that freak out stage.... where I am sure some of you have been.
Heres my issue...
I have a transformer prime that;
I just unrooted using Vipermod
Then did a factory reset
Now I am stuck in CWM recovery
I attempted to do a restore but after it gets done it brings me back into the recovery
I attempted to ADB but the command prompt opens and closes right away ( I assume from not being in USB debugging, which I cant get into without a rom)
I have no rom's currently downloaded into the prime as I just wiped everything in there as well.
Please i'll gladly pay $5 to anyone who can fix this without it breaking more (hard bricking if I havent already done so)
AHHH please guys help, I'm afraid it will run out of battery soon then I'll be royally screwedddd
anyone?
are you on windows 7?
yes windows 7 professional sp 1 32bit . to reiterate I am stuck in Clockwork mod Recovery without root, and with no roms on the internal SD. I have access to one restore that works but after it completes it reboots back in recovery.

Turn on your tablet, let it boot into CWM.
Open cmd, cd to the directory with adb (for example cd C:\android), then copy this line of text below and right click > paste in the command prompt window.
adb shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 count=13

That should get you out of CWM into Android, assuming your restore works fine.
Attempted and got error device not found.
I have uninstalled the transformer drivers and also installed the universal drivers as said in other threads.
I assume to use ADB i need usb debugging on for it to read??
My issue is I cant get into any rom so turning on usb debugging is a no go.
can i fastboot push a rom to the internal sd card or better yet can i install a rom from the external SD card via Clockwork mod recovery?

I cant get ADB to read the transformer prime. When I type adb devices nothing shows up . it starts the daemon successfully but then doesn't show the tfp.
Thank you again for helping. I am honestly going to pay who ever finds the true fix. This stress sucks

Try the instructions here. Try using this only as a last-ditch resort.
it wont shut off either... i tried both of the above mentions and cant get adb to recognize the prime
Attempted both and stuck at recovery loop without root. any more ideas? is it possible to flash rom from external sd? or is there a recovery I could fastboot rhat has this feature?
Attempted both and neither work. I need to somehow get usb debugging enabled while in clockwork mod. Or figure out a way to install a rom via external SD card while in CWM. Any more help is appreciated!

No adb debugging is needed in cwm. Even without any ROM installed. Recovery is different from Android.
Try to long press power (at least ten seconds) to hard reboot, and see if it changes something in device detection.
Did a hard reset and it boots me back into Recovery.
I was able to get a new rom into the internal SD via the emergency/backup.zip method but after it completes and I do a reboot it just boots right back into recovery again.
Any help please is apprecaited.

Oh joy. This one is a spaghetti western in the making.
Okay. Question first : Does Windows 7 RECOGNISE the device in any way shape or form. To find out if this can be done, you need to power up the device and hold the power and volume down buttons, DO NOT press volume up when it suggests a kernel image. If you get three icons, hit vol down once and up once, then plug the USB cable into the PC and the tablet.
If it sees "Something", you've a chance. Download the naked universal USB driver from the dev forum, install it and have your device pick it up on the windows computer. I'm assuming from your comments that you've GOT a working fastboot and adb so I'm going to skip the instructions on that.
If you do have a something, and it's recognised, hit fastboot -i 0x0b05 reboot, if it reboots of it's own accord at this point, you can confirm you have working ADB and Fastboot access. From there you've a few choices. My personal preference would be to ADB push a rom down -after- doing a rebuild of the recovery image via fastboot (I really recommend TWRP for this bit).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26093546#post26093546 - This post here which I wrote will explain how to flash TWRP from fastboot access, presuming you can get it. Once that step is done, wipe EVERYTHING from TWRP, and I mean the whole nine yards, including /system. Raze the memory down to only things it can't actually nuke. Once that's done, reboot to fastboot protocol, get a ROM pushed via ADB and install from inside TWRP.
That -should- get you back in business. Though judging by the tangle you're in, I make no promises.
ADB wont recognize the device. I have installed and uninstalled the drivers about 5 times.
It wont boot into fastboot - just goes directly into Clockwork Mod recovery. Even while holding power and volume down text comes up that says looking for asus recovery. then says clockwork recovery and boots directly into that.
The only way I can get anything into the internal SD card is with MasterZen88's Emergency script tool that puts any 1 file into the internal SD card as backup.zip
It was unrooted prior to all of this as well.
*cringe*
If ADB isn't working -at all- and it's not using the naked USB drivers to get you any kind of workable access. You're starting to smell very much like a hard brick scenario. I'm honestly not sure if there's a way out of that. A lot of the solutions for unbricking absolutely require that the device is able to talk to the outside world, if it's not and the ADB shell is essentially telling you it's talking to dead air, you're in a world of pain.
It's a long shot but it may be worth speaking to ASUS to see if they are willing to, for a fee, restore your tablet to factory settings. Though I can't imagine that will be cheap or simple. If you are able to get an RMA or a means of getting ASUS to poke it, make sure to take photos. Their techies appear to have the worst case of butterfingers in the world.
Go over Pandaball's suggestion, because that's really the last step I can think of before contacting ASUS
Flashed the Broccoli nightly rom I can no longer boot or get back into CWM. Computer cannot start the device. Can someone please help me? Tried all the tools and methods. It won't work unless I can get the device to start when connected to my computer.
RIght now when I press Vol Up and power, it brings me to cold boot linux. Cannot select anything or do anything. When connected to comp, it says device cannot start Code 10. Don't know what else to do. Help please
Looks like you're having an issue similar to mine. You'll need to setup ADB and push another rom to your Prime.
Can you get into recovery?

This thing is completely frozen no matter what. I can power off and on but that's about it. The device won't start according to windows. I'm praying I won't have to RMA or something.
You shouldn't be getting that screen pressing vol up and power.....that should be vol down and power, then doing nothing.

Hi,
where it says press down to change mode you should be able to highlight the middle icon. If so that is fastboot and you have a chance.
I had a very bricked Prime and it only got that far. Then I followed this post.
You must download the fastboot and adb from the links given. I had some from elsewhere and they didn't work so well.
Also, I am not an Android hacker and I think that the dd command is somehow dangerous. At the end of the day, on my machine, I'm back with AndroWook and latest Motley kernel
Best of luck.

Thanks let me try now. I hope it works. How did you get the computer to recognize the prime? Do I need to enable asus sync?

So when your device turns on its in a recovery loop right? You try to reboot and it goes right back to recovery?
It's ok don't worry, we will get it fixed. If that's what your problem is its referred to brick 1a in the unbrick your prime sticky thread.
We just need to setup ADB if you haven't already, and run one command. PM me if you need some help and ill try my best to get you through it or remotely connect to your computer to help you.
I highly suggest TWRP recovery after you get rebooted.

This is what I did while in CWM. Below is a copy of an insert from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24923189#post24923189
Anyhow, so after you have that version installed:
1. Download "ROOTED 9.4.2.21 CWM compatible signed US version"
d - h . s t / r 4 4 -> WITH NO SPACE! (This is from the Primeval: The STOCK stock rom) Thread.
2. EXTRACT IT to the same directory where your ADB is! We only need the BLOBFILE from that zip folder!
3. Once you have the files extracted just run the following on your Command line:
adb push blobfile /sdcard/ ---> Its going to look like its not doing
nothing but dont worry its doing it in the background after 401 or some
seconds the command line will returned to you with a message like this:
1275kb, dadadada...
4. VERY IMPORTANT!: enter:
adb shell
dd if=/sdcard/blobfile of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
(Same as the previews step it will take forever but it will work dude!)
5. DONE! at least this is what worked for me man!
Im so happy now my Asus is freaking Brand NEw again! i was JUST about to through this garbage away but im so happy "dklue" gave me the BLOB concept idea! heheheh i guess i learned something new now..
the thing is the computer is not picking it up i tried diffrent drivers and still nothing i try doing ADB Shell device not found in order to do some commands i have to have it mount and thats the problem what ever i do wont move nothing so basicly is still on CWM only reboot and back again to CWM
Hold power and vol down to boot into CWM. Then you can do the blobfile push. It worked for me

As long as you have the fastboot logo, there should be hope. First, you will need to do whatever you can to get your computer to recognize fastboot mode. In order to do this, click on the fastboot icon on your prime and then plug your usb into your pc. What does windows say? Is the device showing in the windows device manager?

Ive found on my device that it sometimes requests two different drivers. One for adb/fastboot, and one for mtp. I just cancel the one for mtp as they are not in the naked driver set, and windows then detects another different device.

Okay, you're half way home! The reason why nothing shows in adb is because fastboot and adb are two completely different interfaces. When in fastboot, your device will be expecting the fastboot command only.
Now what you will have to do is find a recovery that is in the blob format. Cwm would probably be okay. Twrp would be good, however the new version requires the nvflash version of the bootloader.
Once you find the blob of the recovery you want, place this in the same folder as the file fastboot.exe
It should be in the same place as adb. If not, place the blob somewhere easy to remember.
Then in a command prompt, type
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery blobfilename
If you placed the blob in the same place as fastboot, then the above will be the blob filename, or better would be to include the path as well.

hi guys and girls happy to report that thanks to the community my prime is aliiiive !!! used a utility off here called knives and forks to install adb and then downloaded fast boot and extracted to my users directory then used the fast boot command to push the blob to the prime into recovery then used adb push adb push virtuous_prime_s_9.4.2.21_v1.zip /sdcard/ and installed virtuous to get it running then it all shows up thankyou to everyone so happy took all of five minutes lol. my trip to london for 3 hours will be less boring now !!!:highfive:
I have a rooted Google Nexus 10 tablet with Clockwork Mod and Android 4.4.2. The Google USB driver worked fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I was able to use adb to push files to my tablet. I foolishly let the automatic 4.4.3 OTA download and install. Now, my tablet is stuck in bootloop AND Windows has completely forgotten my Google USB driver and thus adb can't see the tablet, so I can't transfer over the 4.4.3 image or flash in Clockwork Mod via sideload. Yes, Clockwork Mod works great and I can boot into recovery mode. I've seen a thousand postings that all talk about stuff you do from Android like enabling USB debugging, etc, but this is all worthless when you can't boot Android. In retrospect, I wish I had kept a backup image on my SD card. So three questions:
1. How can I get the update image onto my tablet, either by sideload or adb push?
2. Is the factory image (4.4.3 (KTU84L) ) correct or since I'm rooted, am I supposed to use a modified one?
3. Would the manual update method be as simple as copying over the factory OTA to my SD Card ahead of time, booting into recovery mode and flashing?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Well, no response from anybody. I just saw this on another post: "Having USB Debugging ticked WHILE IN ANDROID has absolutely no effect on whether or not your computer can see the device WHILE IN RECOVERY OR FASTBOOT. "
This is very informative. I just wonder if "adb devices" ever shows anything if you're in recovery mode. I wonder also if the Windows 7 driver is supposed to work. I have a feeling this driver is based on communicating with Android itself, so of course it won't work. So maybe fastboot is the way to go? That's what I'll try next.
fastboot
This looks relevant - it has a ton of fastboot commands:
