This browser has been out for a few weeks but I figured I would post it here for you guys. I've used just about every mobile browser out there and know the issues with most of them.
Stock - Not many options, slower than others, bugs here and there
Firefox - Poor desktop UA, lacks many of the add-ons that make firefox worth using.
Dolphin - Collects user data, not quite as quick as competition
Maxathon - Bulky and FC's alot
Chrome - BUGGY
Boat - Nice UI, very customisable, but choppy webpages, quick to load but not as stable.
Opera - Quick and loads pages with stable scrolling, but randomly exits alot and has some problems with flash.
Opera Mobile Labs 12 is like Opera without the exits and flash issues and the addition of desktop extensions like ghostery, noscript, etc. For ages I've been asking, why can't Android have a single browser that doesn't suck in one way or another, so far it looks like my prayers have been answered. I'm mostly surprised it's a beta build. Let me know what you think.

Same here. Only one problem I noticed that i forgot about in OP, sometimes saving images will create .webp files instead of .jpg, .png, etc. Just change the extension to whatever and it's fine.

With opera I've noticed the loading bar moves a little slower, but the pages load fully. Compared to boat, the loading bar moves fast, but only the banner displays after the page loads and then there's some lag time waiting for the rest of the page to load.
flash performance is a the best out there!
but scrolling still feels like 15 frps and a lot of the web pages do not fit the screen width... otherwise great improvement!!
This opera isnt smooth - ics browser plus and dolphin hd are much better then opera lab.

Lolwut have you been smoking I know its weed day but still. No, I'm just kidding but I didn't experience any lag with this opera and I'm normally underclocked to around 800 MHz quadcore.

Scrolling in this version is still choppy. In fact its the laggiest browser on TP.
THANK YOU for sharing!! I didn't even know about this. Opera is my default browser on my laptop, and Opera Mobile on my Evo 3D and Prime. Really really excited about trying this on my Prime!!!
Wich one is better and faster?
How about you install the Chrome browser, do a comparison and let us all know :silly:
I already did that. But I don´t know how to measure this. I want to decide which one will be the main browser.
I installed Dolphin HD browser yesterday and from my short time with it Ive decided its heaps better than the stock browser. Faster scrolling and page rendering and better access to bookmarks (swipe in from the side)
Maybe try that as well?

Dolphin HD
I use Dolphin HD and many do that. I think it is the best browser for ICS 2012 now a days.
I tested Chrome Beta vs Stock. Stock renders faster. Chrome crashed quite a bit too.
Chrome doesn't support FLASH so sad but it's faster (for me). Anyone tried Dolphin on flash videos or .swf?
Chrome was considerably slower at scrolling and loading, I went back to stock.

Chrome has a lots of potential but for me it stutters like hell. What do you guys think of the ICS+ browser? For me it's smooth as butter on the S3, so fast and flash loads in a fraction of a second. Only thing is when you double tap to zoom in an area it zooms somewhere else on the page but other than that it's flawless.

Chrome is a better desktop browser (in terms of speed if not plugin support), but the stock ICS browser destroys Chrome mobile right now. I haven't tried the other browsers because I have had no need to. I may have to try out Dolphin HD to compare to stock ICS browser though...
I use opera for fast browsing and stock for flash video etc

got the message to get the update to release of Chrome, now all I get is a "package file is invalid" message when I try to download it. The beta has gone and I have nothing! Any suggestions what to do? Is there an apk file I can download and install on my SG3?
im a fan of google chrome so ide go for google chrome, its faster but theres not flash on it yet
the new firefox seems to work well
Does dolphin browser support flash? anyone tried it yet?
Have to bump this thread - thoughts on this topic now? Stock seems more fluid, still!
So most certainly the aosp browser ioiwillioi includes in senseless is much better than HTC's crap slow browser but still isn't the best browsing experience possible. I've recently been trying several browsers out and so far firefox seems the best but not without issues as for some dumb reason mozilla decided when it went out of beta that it was for phones only. It works and shows up in the market but it's a bit wonky as its not tablet optimized. I've tried various browsers but can't find the right one:
Opera: They update the thing all the time and still ignore the issues it had had for ages such as that annoying splash screen, and no android user agent. Also text input is broke
X scope: Rendered things weird and didn't seem that fast.
Skyfire: slow, I uninstalled fast
Dolphin for tablets : won't even run without force closing
Dolphin hd: its okay, but still slower than stock
Maxthon: slow
So I keep coming back to firefox and the stock which seem to be the best. I've been tweaking the flyer for performance recently and I'm about there if I could just find the right Web browser I'd be good. Any pure gpu accelerated browsers I'm missing?

What about Google Chrome? I know it isn't available to download on the playstore from the tablet itself but maybe if we just try the latest version we can see how well it works?

Yeah,. Chrome doesn't work with Honeycomb or GB, I was running the ICS rom.
Yeah web browsing is what's killing me on this tablet, because lets face it, google did little to improve it till ICS.
I use dolphin mainly for the bookmark sync.
It is a little slow, but it tends to run quicker than the stock browser on my flyer...

fire fox is good for viewing and loading, but u will find trouble at the plug in stuffs, i use to open my fb in it it shows online chat bar and tikr and all nice and easy way to navigate and too i feel for a easy float and like desktop look float browser is good.. it opens like a desktop client and u can move the browser window where ever you want as like our desktop
Opera Next is awesome (Grey Icon) Smoothest / fastest browser iv'e used.
I find that Boat Browser works pretty good also. for sure going to be looking at Opera next and float browser.

Hi I love my nexus 10 and no im not returning it, But after seeing this video im quite upset withthe performance.Didnt want to root to keep this as my standard pure google experience device I may have to now. Also the video is right chrome does suck on it dolphin is a bit better opera is probably best.but still slight performance issues with pinch and zoom.I cant believe how they dropped the ball on this as 90 % of tablet use is web browsing (for most people).
Use Dolphin and their JetPack rendering engine add on. As smooth as smooth can be IMO.
Yes did I have used it since day 1
Still not as smooth as that surface tablet also everything is blown up I put settings at 50%
Its a bit better but still to zoomed in.
I did everything in that review on dolphin Tweaked settings and all.
Still sucks.(in comparison)

Try using Ocean Browser. It's as smooth as the iPad from my use.
Will try it .
Thanks!
so far opera is my winner.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I don't know if they've changed, but opera wasn't built on WebKit, which means a lot of websites designed for android and iOS won't work correctly
I also had tried it in the past.I am not sure if it used webkit but I think not because I've been using it steady on The nexus and my note 2 both have been working well only issue I have is with flash but puffin browser seems to work for those sites.
Looked for ocean doesn't show up.I will continue to use opera as long as it works.

Btw guys an update for chrome was released yesterday and it's much better now. Way faster and hasn't crashed on me yet. I was using ocean browser since I got my n10 but have gone back to chrome.
You can also quick scroll through the tabs by swiping from the edges of the screen left or right. This was there previously but the patch has made things much smoother.

The updated version still cannot wrap text to fit the viewing screen via double tap. This is something Dolphin, Boat, FF, and probably every browser out there ARE capable of.
Try ocean or boat browser. Personally I find ocean browser way better. Very fluid, smooth and has intuitive navigation. It is more like an upgraded Google default browser.

Meh, the interface looks like a hideous combination of iOS and Holo to my eyes. And aside from Chrome, Firefox and Opera, all the other browsers are shells for the native rendering engine so performance should be exactly the same, whether it's Dolphin, Boat, Ocean, etc.

Nope, Dolphin with JetPack uses it's own rendering engine and Ocean seems to use the AOSP rendering engine. That's the reason that both of these browsers feel so much smoother than any of the other ones.
Indeed, dolphin with jetpack does use its own rendering engine, that's why it scores super high on the html5test
Ocean works great but I like how it can be tweaked to give a full desktop experience.
I guess I will alternate between both for now.

I use the stock browser because its faster by far
i use stock browser. doesn't seem slow to me, lol. main reason i use it is because i can stream flash whereas chrome doesn't support it
Stock Browser here. Flash is great, but the main reason for me is text wrapping/formatting. For example, Gamefaqs in Chrome is terrible! When you double tap, the text is still super small. In the Stock Browser, all text is correctly displayed at a size I can read it. Anyone else have this same problem with Chrome? If they fixed it, Chrome would easily be my default browser.
Sent from my Droid DNA using Tapatalk 2!
I have been using dolphin for quite a while. The main reason is for the gesture recognition. I draw a < and it takes me back a page. I can also create my own. I haven't noticed a difference between dolphin and stock as far as speed is concerned. I have chrome on my PC but not on any android devices. I'll have to try it.
I use Chrome Beta for all browsing that doesn't need flash. If I need flash (usually trying to get to menus on restaurant websites) then I will load the page up in the stock browser.
stock. much faster.
even on my N7 i run the stock browser.apk
chrome is choppy, doesn't EVER scroll smoothly, and is just laggy overall. don't understand how google can't even optimize it's own browser app for these phones correctly, while the android team has their browser working amazingly. i never use chrome, especially now that chrome bookmarks sync to all stock browsers (browser on aosp, sense, and touchwiz)

I use Dolphin for regular use but I love Chrome, if it had more options (browser ID etc) and supported flash I would use it as my DD
I've used all of them and for the time being, I'm using stock. The only con is that it'll crash on you from time to time, especially on flash heavy websites (but that's a bit of a given, considering flash is on its way out). But besides that, the fact that it DOES allow flash, and wraps text, and is fast/smooth as hell.. Makes it difficult to give up.
Chrome (beta) is nice and fast but doesn't allow for quick controls and full screen, which pisses me off enough not to want to use it regularly. Having it sync with your computer's browser is the only perk there. If anything, I would say that these are the only two browsers you need (stock and chrome beta). I've tried about 8 other ones and man.. They always leave me disappointed.
This one of the cooler features that I thought Android specific. After using Chrome, I realize it may be a stock Android browser feature that HTC keeps on their Sense version.
Regardless, is one of the main reasons I switched from the iPhone and don't use Chrome specifically for the lack of it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
chrome is definitely the laggier of the two, i tried it out for a couple days and went back to stock
