Just wondering, I googling any website and there some that says use QSD8255
and other MSM8255... Is this different due to Made in China and so on...?
For Indonesian user, could u inform which chip is your Mini has...?
yur mini should have Qualcomm QSD8255 Snapdragon.
Okay.. Got it.. 1st Gen.. No lucky for me..
Sorry buddy.....
Which is better ?
Xperia Mini
Qualcomm QSD8255 Snapdragon
Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_mini-3947.php
You can find the difference between chipsets here: http://www.qualcomm.co.uk/products/snapdragon
Biggest differences are processor compability, graphics, 3G speed etc.
Click thanks if I helped
Does QSD8255 really exist?
I can't find any info regarding QSD8255
http://www.qualcomm.eu/products/snapdragon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
I can only find some infos about QSD8250 and MSM8255
So, does QSD8255 really exist?
The fact is there is no QSD8255, in other words, QSD8255 doesn't even exist.
Xperia mini uses QSD8250 like x10, then mini pro uses MSM8255, there is no QSD8255...

Wrong, Xperia mini uses MSM8255 (many specs we found in the internet say that it uses QSD8255, but QSD8255 doesn't exist), please see the GPU, it's Adreno 205, no way QSD8250 uses Adreno 205.
Wrong. QSD8250 comes with Adreno 200 and MSM8255 uses Adreno 205 which is what the mini has.

nah its the GTX 480 in SLi..
AMD 430 iirc, which is a distant relative of the xbox chip (but about 100X more feeble). It's standard on old snapdragons, newer ones have a gruntier 460.

Can you think of any reasons we wouldn't? It's designed for smartphones and we have devices using Tegra 1.
It would be nice to get a serious answer...
thanks... It's nice to know...
The GPU is an AMD Z430 (OpenGL ES 2.0), it doesn't use the same drivers as the other HTC devices using snapdragons SOC, it's usually a wee bit faster though it's locked to 30fps.

Wow, a customized platform? I figured they'd be using something based on the reference board (HTC that is).
Thanks for the info, guess you learn something new every day.

The GPU and CPU are the same chip, it is also a lot of other things on the same chip like GPS...
the X10a uses othe chip then X10i
'a' uses QSD8650 processor 'i' uses QSD8250
and the GPU is same for bought and it is Adreno 200... YOu can find other infos on wiki...

You're gonna have to wait for official Gingerbread for P500 . Supposedly it is out by the end of May . It might either be delayed or rushed out sooner
i've started a work for a good adreno 200 gpu driver...but i had meet too much difficult!there is only a good compiled gpu driver for adreno that we can take code from...and this is the driver of nexus one but this is compiled for armv7 processor and not for armv6 processor which is our!!!other qualcomm msm 7227 like xperia x8 etc have the same code!!!we hope for acer liquid mini....maybe acer compiled a good driver!
Don't we have the drivers now on our current builds?

yes we have.....but is a general driver that is given by qualcomm!!but most houses develop their tweaked driver from this general driver!!!i don't understand why they don't develop drivers!adreno gpu 200 is good for gaming!

you mean to say it's decent . it would be good on our device because of lower resolution .
But if you want a really good gpu then Galaxy s's PowerSVGX540 is the way .
Or the best Tegra 2 .
Lupo can't you somehow try to compile it to Armv6 ?

It seems lik the ST microelectronics and Ericsson is breaking up their joint venture and so their mobile chip making plans..
Source : http://www.phonearena.com/news/Chip...-shutdown-as-STMicro-plans-to-quit-JV_id37503
So guyz we will no further see any ST Ericsson Nova Thor SoC chips... Well in my opinion I think nova Thor chips are kick ass.i have used snapdragon before but nova Thor is much snappir for me..what do you think???
Well I just hope they release all their sources for the U8500 before they shut down.....

Nova Thor is just more energy efficient, in every other aspect Qualcomm eats Nova Thor for breakfast man.

Yeah my Qualcomm HP Touchpad can easily play HD files, my U is a stuttery mess, it's an okay chipset, but far from amazing.
They have not broke up completely and they're gonna release the next generation chipset soon

NOVATHOR CHIPSET IS VERY GOOD, BUT QUALCOM IS MORE OPEN SOURCE, NOVATHOR chipset MEET YOUR PROMISES ARE GOOD, COMPARED TO N OF I QUALCOM GHz is the same performance, stability, etc., all is in the processor, TOO MUCH ELSE CUENT ...... BUT NO PITY to separate, I am very happy with them ......

Well I prefer Qualcomm more than ARM actually...
just the previous Snapdragon Scorpion does not provide more processing power than ARMv7 Cortex-A9 so I jump from Xperia mini to Xperia sola, however Adreno 205(ICS driver updated version) is better than single core Mali-400(less graphic glitch and render speed is fast)

Mali-400 is the reason why you guys aren't getting jelly bean. It's more powerful, but consumes more RAM as an expense. The irony.

Not really, although benchmark is better than Adreno 205 but gaming experience is bit worse than Adreno 205, at least Adreno 205 provide stable gaming experience but Mali 400 single core got lot of graphic glitch and sometimes in some games fps even worse than Adreno 205
Hey, I want to ask that whether we can PORT CM10.2 or Android 4.3 to our Sony Xperia P if it is available on another device having almost same specifications? The other device have same resolution, same amount of RAM, a dual core processor but of higher quality, same MP camera, same internal memory which is not expandable. So can we PORT the ROM if we have the permission of the developer and know how to PORT it? Or it would create some problems? The other ROM is stable.
If it's not novathor chipset, no.

Any specific reason behind it? Does it mean NovaThor cannot run 4.3? Or anything else?

And what if, phones running on same chipset and processor but having different resolutions and camera?
The chipset cintains the cpu (STE-U8500) ram(different devices have different ram speeds) and the gpu (mali-400mp) xperia p, u, sola, go use novathor u8500 chipset.

Ya I know that, I am asking whether we can port a ROM from a device having same chipset but different screen resolution and camera? Take for example, can we a port a ROM from Samsung Galaxy S Advance to Sony Xperia P?
