How to remove a widget? (it won't go away!) - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I'm trying to remove widgets from my phone (using CM7, last version) but when I long press the widget, I receive the feedback (vibration) and the trash icon do not appear, neither I can move the widget.
It will be much better if it's no necessary for me to format the phone and install all the apps again!
Could someone help me?

Which launcher are you using?

just uninstall the program and reinstall the program again. no need to reformat the phone.

if it is adwlauncher, press the menu button (at left) > more > unlock desktop. And then try to delete it. Or check the trash can icon position on adw settings

That's it!
I'm yet a little confused moving from WinMo 6 to Android.
Thank you.

some launchers bring this option, is useful when you lend your phone and don't want to someone modify the desktop

You can try delete the app on Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications

What is your home application? provide more details
i'm sorry i'm new to this, what is a home application? hmmm.. I'm running a unrooted x10 as of right now... if that helps. Thanks!
The button i was talking about is the center bottom button that becomes a trash can when you try to delete applications from your home screen. I was wondering how I can install shortcuts next to the trash can button. I didnt know x10 was capable of doing this until I used the clean-up.bat that came along with jit. However, I have since factory reset the x1o, and I was wondering how I can get the shortcuts functions back without all the other customized functions that clean-up.bat gives you after you run it. Thanks!

Im assuming you have adw, if so do as i have mentioned below:
Long press empty place of the home screen
select Launcher actions
select Open/close app drawer
Then your icon will appear in the scree, simply drag the icon to desired position on the bottom bar, in your case to the center location
Cheers
What is adw? and how can I find out if I have it or not? when I long press the home screen, it gives me 4 options - shortcuts, widgets, folders, and wallpapers. I do not have launcher actions.... how do I get that? Thanks!
Install LauncherPro, long press the icon, and change the icon, or the function.

[Q] LauncherPro - No Apps window options?

Guys,
A quick question on LauncherPro. On most other launchers (ADW, GO , TouchWiz etc) if you open up the apps window and click the bottom left menu button you get a set of options usually for how you want to organise/arrange all your apps. Ive several Launchers which i switch sometimes using Homeswitcher but most of the time i use Launcherpro. On all the rest i get at the very least the option to have them listed as icons or a list view but when i press the bottom left button on Launcherpro nothing happens. Ive been right through all the options on Launcherpro but cant find anything to change the way the apps are displayed. Am i just being incredibly thick (highly probable) or can you not re-arrange/organise any of your apps?
Thanks guys

[Q] Help With Nook Tablet "Go Launcher ex" Please

Hello all,
First off, I would like to thank Albert Wertz on how to root the tablet. Followed the instructions and worked flawlessly. . I chose “Go Launcher ex” as my launcher which was also working great. Now, comes my noob screw up Every time I would hit the nook BN “Home” button, it would let me choose between the BN “Nook Home” and “Go Launcher ex”. Right below the BN (Nook Home) choice was a check box to make the decision permanent. With my fat finger I hit both the check box and BN “Home Button” and I no longer get to choose to go into “Go Launcher” I want my “Go Launcher” back!!! How can I do this?

NT Hidden Settings (in development) -> Application Settings -> Manage Applications -> Go Launcher -> Clear Defaults. You can swipe right to left on the notification bar to go backwards.
Alternatively, installing another launcher will clear the defaults.
Thank you so much for your reply!! I will try as soon as I get off of work. I would like to ask about the "NT Hidden Settings (in development)" Is that something I will have to turn on to see (hidden) or is it available by going to the development folder? Thank you again for your help!!

This is the main Android menu you would normally see on a stock device. You can get to it by either using the tgps launcher that you would use to first enable USB debugging, or you can use an app from the market called AnyCut, which will create a shortcut for you to the main settings menu for the device, or even the sub directories.

Click the "n"
touch "search"
type "tgps_launcher"
touch start
go to "manage apps" (or something like that, don't remember )
touch "all" at the top
scroll down to "home"
touch "home"
find the button that says "clear defaults" and touch it
Now click the "n" button. It will not let you choose which launcher to use again.
If this works for you, click my help button!

It is an app someone created here on XDA. You can find it in a thread in the development section of this forum.
Take a look at this link, working great for me to access hidden settings.
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...et-allows-you-to-well-access-hidden-settings/
Does the nook need to be rooted in order to use Go launcher as the default launcher? I did not have the option to clear defaults for either home or go launcher when I tried this.
No it doesn't have to be rooted to use Go Launcher. I used it without a problem while i was unrooted and sideloading apps. I rooted in order to block OTAs and using Go Launcher is exactly the same in both cases.
How do I do this on an unrooted nook, clearing defaults is not working on mine.
This is what worked for me when I wasn't rooted:
If you can sideload apps, get Go Launcher EX from the Amazon Appstore. Once I installed Go Launcher I also installed Homecatcher (search for it here on these boards) to make my Go Launcher home screen my default home screen and bypass the stock nook home screen entirely (the program asks you during installation if you'd like to make Go launcher your default). Check the thread where you find the Homecatcher app for some tips from the guy who developed the app, but both apps are really easy to install and work really well rooted or unrooted. i don't know if any of this will help--good luck.
Thanks to ALL! I do appreciate all the replies! Everything worked great! Well, I guess I was only somewhat rooted..Nook just updated to 1.4.1.... :-( Now I cant get it to restore back to 1.4.0 via sd update. WOW I am the lucky one

[Q] -SOLVED- Work around twlauncher crash loop w/o wipe?

--twlauncher crash problem solved, see below. Feel free to answer general question though
Hi all!
Ran into a problem with my Galaxy S that I'd be really greatful if you could help me with.
THE QUESTION:
Is there some way of accessing the phone from my PC via USB and changing settings?
THE THING:
I have been running my system without problem for a while. Haven't made a backup though, stupid #%¤ as I am. When I was using the (stock) Internet browser I tried to add a (mobile) web page to the Start panel (or whatever it is called). Since then I get the error message "The application Start (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly." Gives option to "Force Close". Whenever I do, the error comes back after a few seconds if I am at the default screen and don't quickly go into the phone or sms app. Basically, I can't do anything that my Ericsson T10 couldn't do in 1999...
I think all of my "start screens" were already filled with apps, that there wasn't room for another, and this might be the problem that causes the twlauncher crash loop.
THE QUESTION (again, in context):
So, is there some way of accessing the phone from my PC via USB and changing settings? During my searching I've come to believe that two possible solutions might be to clear twlauncher's settings or to set another launcher as default, but in the current state I can't get to the settings neither from the started phone or from the Darky recovery console.
I know I could just wipe and reinstall everything but that feels like nuking a mosquito...and it's so tedious... If there is some smoother way to get at the problem that would be nice. Also I'm curious if it can be done, and I'm probably not alone.
THE SYSTEM:
Samsung Galaxy S (GT I9000)
Rooted
Android 2.2.1
Darkys' ROM v9.4 Extreme edition
Voodoo
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!
/Fredrik
Ok folks, I am happy again!
It seems things fix themselves for me if I only write a thorough post on some forum...
I went to android market with my PC, logged in with my google account (where I had apparently added my phone before) and downloaded another launcher (ADW) to replace my crashed twlauncher. After that I fiddled some more with the phone - obviously turned off network mode from the power menu (the menu that you get when holding the power button 3 sec). And then I wrote the above post.
Just now I was going to make a phone call (which was about the only thing working, remember?) but the screen had gone all black except from the status bar at the top, which didn't respond when I tried to pull its menu down. Brought up the power menu. At first it didn't respond to my touch but after a while it agreed to turn on network mode for me. Then ADW downloaded and installed itself. I still couldn't pull down the status bar menu to click on the "Download complete" icon and launch ADW that way, but I pressed the Home button and got a menu asking "Complete this task with:" and some choices. I ticked the box "always use this program" and selected ADW. Now, ADW started and I am back on track! No wipe or reinstall needed!
SO, short version solution to twlauncher crash loop: log into your Android market account from a PC, search for "launcher" and install one of your choice, then wait for the phone to download and install it. Then press Home, tick "Always use this program to complete this task" and select your new launcher!
Yeah, that solved my problem with Tw.launcher but if anyone has an answer to the question in the thread - is there a way to log into the phone from a PC to change settings - feel free to share your knowledge!
Addition - resetting twlauncher to be able to use Kies
Ok, after installing another launcher as described above, proceed with the following to prevent twlauncher from crashing in the future. You will need to this do if you want to connect with your computer using Kies, since Kies apparently cannot connect to other launchers (such as GO launcher or ADW).
1. Open Settings | Applications | Manage Applications.
2. Go to the tab "All" and scroll down and tap on twlauncher (or maybe it is called something else, on mine it is "Start" - check the twlauncher crash message to get it, or follow the instructions below under "Another way..." to find it in the Home button menu. You still need to complete the whole procedure to get it running though).
3. Tap the "Clear data" button. This clears your settings, i.e. the app shortcuts that you put on your start screens.
DONE!
In my case I believe the twlauncher crash was due to adding one more shortcut to an already full app drawer, so when I cleared the settings I can use twlauncher again.
USING TWLAUNCHER TO CONNECT WITH KIES
Now you can use the Home Swithcher app to launch twlauncher if you want to use Kies, and when you are done you can use Home Switcher again to switch back if you prefer the other launcher you installed.
Another way to get back to twlauncher if you don't have Home Switcher, is to go to Settings | Applications | Manage Applications, find your current launcher (e.g. GO launcher or ADW) and tap the "Clear default" button. Then (when you have exited back to the start screen) if you press the Home button, you will be asked which launcher you would like to use to complete the task. Select twlauncher (or "Start" whatever it's called). After you're done with Kies you can switch back the same way if you don't want to use twlauncher as default.

Such a great thread and no one else has added anything else to it I'm dealing with this crap atm and it is even worst. Holding power doesn't pop up the power menu. Cant access settings. I can bring the notification bar down and turn on wifi but it doesnt actuallly connect to my wifi so I can't do the remote app installation from the web store. I really don't want to do a factory reset.
as was asked here, is there a way to clear the data of the TWLAUNCHER app by using my pc and usb connection to the phone? I'm able to turn on usb storage and access it. Halp!

[Q] Can't resize widgets?

Is there a way to resize the widgets(i.e. Calender, Google Now, etc)? When ever I long press it only opens up the Themer settings, and double tap just opens up the widget. I don't see a option to resize in the settings for gestures either.
Thanks.

Hi,
If you long press on the homescreen > Advanced > Unlock Widgets, this will enable you to resize/remove the widgets for that screen. Repeat the process in order to lock them in place. If a widget takes up the whole screen and you aren't able to get to some free space, go into Themer's main settings > Advanced > Desktop > Lock Desktop Widgets.
Hope this helps!
*POOF* Worked like magic, tyvm.
