Hi guys,
New to forum. Please delete this thread if you think this is duplicate. But I can't find any solutions so far. I searched the whole xda forum and googled but of no avail. I looked at the suggestions you give at the time of posting, but no.
Here is my problem.
I followed an excellent thread for rooting the stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432. I got UCKK6 Stock rom working with root and got all the other apps that make use of rooting.(Except I could not find out how to say thank you. Thank you Entropy! ) ). Now I want to install Clockworkmod recovery and I get Signature failed error. I use, the (prohibited) ROMManager.(I cant find an alternative, on SGH i 777 at least.)
Please help me.
Had you spent some time reading through the FAQ and stickies you might have seen the warnings against using ROMManager. Did you try searching for an answer because this is a common pitfall of people who flash a ROM without knowing what they're doing. The stickies in General have your answers.
Yes. I did that. Unfortunately I could not find the alternatives mentioned to for SGH i 777. That's what I am saying in my original post. Please if you can find it, can you post the link?
Thanks
Simple - install a kernel with Clockworkmod.
OK. So flashing a new kernel is the only solution? There is no way I can get around signature issue? Do I have to use Odin, instead of recovery? since obviously recovery is doing signature verification?

Yes, you have yo flash another kernel with CWM embedded in it to have CWM... you need to either use Odin or Kernel Flasher to get that. After you flash a kernel with CWM embedded in it, you will be able to go into CWM recover and flash everything else.
OK. Thanx. And I love the way you guys give quick replies.
(And I get the message read and read. It's just that you won't a get a solution for all the problems from existing threads. The forum is exhaustive but it's not complete is it?)

I came across this thread which hints at rooting in a very simple and in few seconds...My question is that if it is this much easy then why it has been made so complicated in other ways??? Is it really working??? Is there any drawbacks in this type of rooting??? should I go for this way of rooting???

Yes, according to the thread
No
That's up to you
Why you chose to make a new thread (and in the wrong place at that) rather than just posting in the one you linked is beyond me.

First of all thanks a lot for the reply..Sorry for the mistake I made to post it here..I was thinking that it is Q & A forum because I opened several tabs at a time.
The reason I made a separate thread was that I wanted other people also to comment not just those people who replied to that thread...Because I didn't see any expert member to comment on that thread.
Sorry if I am wrong...I am noob to android phone...Before I was using windows phone.
Rooting or flashing is easy as long as you can read, interpret and understand. If you can't, well that is where the "complications" come in.

BTW the only reason for me to root was to get rid of Samsung blotware.
If you are new to this (I'am) don't delete apps ... freeze using Titanium Pro and PLS read this list before you freeze anything:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0Ag43oj7rLQP4dENZcmhGN0ZUa3pHSENVeXlqUm5vV0E&single=true&gid=0&output=html
I don't know if this method is really an exploit or just a consequence of the Android platform being a development platform open to anyone with a PC and an USB cable to install things...
But the problem with real exploits is that they can be fixed on future versions and be device/manufacturer specific. While installing modified kernels is a feature available for most devices at the cost of the warranty (sometimes).

Root is a very very easy process.
If you root your phone AND ALSO flash it with a custom rom, you ll never look back!
Its easy untill u burn your phone

Hi, I was trying to root my device with insecure kernel, and then my device hangs on galaxy i9100 boot screen,
so, I've tried to restore my stock kernel, but it didn't help...
finally I've tried to flash the jpkg2 stock rom from intratec thread, also the same...
i tried this

and my phone stoped at this
and with fully falied odion tests...
now I can enter the download mode.
but recovery mode is not working
Note: there was no Kies when I did this, after that I tried all the things before with kies installed, and with samsung_usb_driver, and still got no success.
Note: Odion recognize my device, download mode is fine.
any help would be apprecciated.
Quite clearly not a "How To", and what was wrong with your other thread?
plz help i9100 dead.
im trying here to make it more clearly
I did't find any help in my last thread, so I tried to be more specific here.
Taken from Intratech's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
........................
3. Start Odin
4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar file that you extracted in step 1
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Anyone ask about .pit file is a moron

First thing I notice when looking at your screenshot is that you have ticked re-partition.
Second thing I notice is that you have tried to flash a PIT file.
Maybe that's where you are going wrong??
I found this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18961761&postcount=9
this man was unable to flash his device " Odion Fail"
so one of the suggestions was to use another computer, and yeh!! it works for him.

What was wrong with the replies? You didn't find a magic fix to your problem, which in all honesty, was just you being stupid putting the wrong files into the Odin boxes. If you want a magic fix, send your phone to Samsung and pay for the fix they do.
If you want a normal fix, listen to the replies given in the other thread. Don't start spamming new topics everywhere with the same question just because you don't like the answer. Remember, you killed your phone and others are actually trying to help you fix it....

Are you sure your flashing the right ROM for your device? Bare in mind that you've got an I9100G phone.
I refuse to help on the basis you cant be bothered to use a real topic title.
Sorry about my Thread title as you can see it was my first thread ill do better with my title on my next thread. Anyways if someone has a link to a website/thread where i can download roms for my GT-I9100G i would be forever grateful. Thanks.

Topic titles should be descriptive not silly generic ones like "hlp plz" that dont tell people browsing forum anything about topic.
To grab stock sammy firmwares for your device you can get them via http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/.
Just put the main rom file in PDA section of ODIN and flash it. Then go back into download mode and flash custom kernel, again via ODIN.
Or to get custom ones....

Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100(T) Vodafone
PDA: I9100TDVLSM
PHONE: I9100TDVLS3
Android Version: 4.1.2
Kernel Version: 3.0.301-889696 [email protected]#3
Build Number: JZO54K.I9100TDVLSM
I'm having trouble working out what files I need to root my phone as there are so many variations, I don't plan on installing a custom rom I just want superuser access. There does not seem to be the correct kernel version for my phone in this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671
The closest one I think would be GT-I9100T_DUKF2_insecure is that correct as I don't want to brick my phone if there is a chance using the wrong kernel as I don't have a spare one to use until I get it fixed. I have seen people suggest using I9100 instead and flash the modem but I don't want to do that or is this the only way?. I would have posted this in the kernel topic but I don't have the user permission to do so.
I will be using this guide http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-50004972/
Aside from the rom manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EwMiwiY29tLmtvdXNoaWtkdXR0YS5yb21tYW5hZ2VyIl0. Are there any other recommended apps that need to be installed after the rooting process
I'm only going to say two things :
1. Search for PhilZ kernel.
2. Don't install ROM manager. It's a safe bet to brick an i9100.
Sent from my GT-I9100: Powered by Dorimanx, running RootBox
I've got 2 more.
1) Stick to xda threads.
2) Search in the HUGE australian thread sticked in Q&A.
Sent from...this is not even my S2
I've got another one:-
If you can't work out how to root this phone without making a thread in Q&A given it was released two years ago, I'd question whether you should be messing with your phone in the first place. Read some threads (which people attempt to circumvent by posting threads like this; refer to my sig as to what happens to these people), settle on a method. It's not rocket surgery.
Edit - And another - If you're scared of bricking your phone, just don't go there. The moment you root your phone, kiss goodbye any expectation of warranty service.

I can work it out I just wanted some verification to determine if I was correct about what secure and insecure kernel I needed before I do this that will allow me to root the phone with out having to flash a modem onto it. I have settled on the method this one. This I why I posted under the Q&A section to get help on my understanding not be redirected to a different thread or told that I should not do this.

Hi I have a same phone and "problem".
Did you rooted your phone?
I everyone im new but read a whole lot of hours to be able to come this "far"
Anyone what i did is 1. Root , 2. Unlock bootloader 3. Clockworkmod recovery , 4. Flash Codename Lungo
But i realized it had NO FileManager, Browser or 3rd party market installed
I can't find a proper "guide" or download source where to download Fdroid in a .zip file that i can flash trough CWM or do whatever app i like that way. The most important thing right now is that i can somehow install a FileManager that way i can atleast do more things and install apks how im used to
I tried AROMA but can't understand the terminal
:good:

First of all that kind of language is not tolerated on Xda!! :silly:
boomboomer was like me trying to help you by stopping you posting in the wrong forum because if you do any information or flashing of software from the wrong forum can brick your device. Now if you had done all the research you say you have done then you will know that I9300 international does not have a locked bootloader unless you have a magic phone that nobody else does! You may well have a I9300 but you did not unlock the bootloader! Also keep up the foul language (it will soon get you banned!
