motorola razr vs samsung galaxy s2 in gps - Motorola Droid RAZR

am gonna buy a new phone and am confused between those two
i tried to search youtube for a gps comparison but i didn't find any
so can anyone tell me which phone is better in gps?

Better is probably subjective but if you mean speed wise for getting a fix you can't go wrong with the razr. Literally takes a few seconds and uses glonas as well. I've never had any problems and use it regularly both in car and for walking. Have used it in the UK, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

I have both the Galaxy S 2 and Droid Razr and LG P970
Nothing between the Galaxy S 2 and Droid Razr apart from Galaxy S 2 had wifi Direct , and the WIFI does seem to get a better signal with the Galaxy S2 , I like the Droid Razr better because of build quality is much better and i find the camera is better also in the Razr, GPS i would say both do the same job for me anyway ,
Saying that the Galaxy S2 feels better in the hand than the Razr although it feels cheap and Samsung nasty
And Droid Razr seems to be getting updates a lot faster and some of the built in apps are quite good like "Smart Action"
But here is a surprise out of the lot I actually prefer my LG P970 for some strange reason , maybe its the slimmness and light feel without the cheap Galaxy S2 feeling and it has Wifi Direct and 720p recording and the 5MP camera is quite good, Icecream sandwich or Cyanogenmod9 will put it to its full potential
its also the most underrated mobile of 2011 the LG P970
a little of topic with the P970 praising but im just being honest

No comparison. The Motorola phones do a much better job than the Samsung phones when it comes to 1. Time to lock signal. 2. Ability to maintain a lock. 3. Low signal performance.
I've compared several Samsung phones and while some are better than others, I have found that other brands works better overall. So in this case the razr wins. Now, if you are taking about sound quality, that's a different story.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

i forgot to mention sound quality on the Razr is awesome compared to the Galaxy S 2
so much clearer and louder in my opinion

I came from a Samsung Charge because of issues with the Gps. Didnt have a problem with my DX2 so Motorola has my vote so far.

what about motorola UI is it better than touchwiz 4?

Touchwiz is slightly better , but blur seems to be getting better by the new release builds , needs a bit of work but then thats when themes and dodexed custom roms come in handy
Also Razr has microHDMI and Galaxy S2 dont
also the Razr is splash proof and the back is kevlar the stuff they make bulletproof vests from

RAZR has GLONASS support, SII does not (Galaxy Note does, though). GLONASS support is a massive advantage in some countries, can see twice as many satellites et cetera.

I guess the camera of S2 is better than RAZR I saw recorded video recording.

I have a Droid Razr Maxx, the GPS is fantastic - fast lock-on, great accuracy and stayed lock-on.
Use it with Endomondo and with Google Nav regularly.
Probably not a ton of comparisons for the GPS modules on the two since both the S II and Razr have GPS modules that lock on quickly and tend to work well.
My buddy has the LG G2X, lock-on on that thing is ridiculous (upwards of 5 minutes, he uses the GPS toolbox though which speeds it up (to about 1 minute on first use then instant after that)).

how does the audio quality compare between the 2? i'm only really interested in audio quality via headphones. i know it is subjective and more to do with quality of headphones used but all opinions here are gladly welcome

never mind

[Q] Atrix 4g Vs Samsung Galaxy SII Vs LG Optimus 2x ???

i was willing to buy the Atrix 4g for its dualcore beast and right now we hav 3 of that kind. Can anybody suggest the best one out of the Three???
SGS 2. 'nuff said.
thread closed.
for $800 it better wipe your a$$.
-i have heard disappointing reviews on the camera, wifi, touchwiz, build quality, samsung updates(though motorola is bad with bell users).
-i wouldnt buy an LG as they have no solid track record and too many complaints to list
-atrix has its fair share of problems primarily the bootloader and camera isnt the greatest.
Anyone else kinda disappointed by this new generation of dual cores as a whole?
Nope i love my sg2 much more than my atrix!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
if i could atleast have it in my hand and it was $150 or more less I would definitely consider it.
Having both devices, what are the benefits of sgs2? Be as unbiased as possible please.
where did u buy the S2?
People harp on about the SG2 being all plasticy, but compared to the atrix it feels much more solid. the case shell on the atrix creaks whenever i hold it, whether that be age 'wear and tear' or what not.
i find the camera to be much better than the atrix
the screen is much better on the SG2 but thats personal choice
i do miss quirky features such as the fingerprint reader and webtop but thats about it. Everything else the SG2 does the same if not better. Even in stock form, no mods comparing the two it becomes much greater. as gingerblur fixed alot of problems (motoblur!)
saying that, the Atrix is still the 2nd best device i had!
my 2 cents

Sorry. but f**k the Galaxy S II! The Galaxy S I9000 was soooooooo much better. From what ive heard, the Optimus 2X has really good build quality. But yeah they have a terrible track record, usually they make products with crappy quality. The Atrix is sweet but the locked bootloader and the fact that we have to wait for Motorola for updates; that drags it down.
1) Moto Atrix
2) LG Optimus 2X
3) Galaxy S II

So guys....I just want a nice cellphone. I don't care for root and stuff. So, I guess the atrix will be fine for me right?
Do the G2x and S2 have been unlocked yet?
ty vm and sry about my english, Im trying to improve
If you want the best everyday phone I would buy the atrix battery last a day or more!

LOL @ the guy who said the phone creaks in his hand. that is such utter LIES.
In any case, Samsung has a pretty horrible track record with the i9000 quality. Just look up i9000m internal SD on google and have fun sorting through that mess.. A phone that just auto nukes its internal SD whenever it wants.
As for the Atrix it has IMO an amazing screen (which you can use at full brightness) at little penatly on the giant battery.
If you wanna save battery and use juice defender the max I have gotten out of it before dying is 56 hours.... on a single charge.
So yeah.
Thanks for all the suggestion guys.. The Quadrant benchmarks of samsung galaxy sII ended up being something like around 3500 which is the heighest till date...atrix is around 2700 i guess...any comments on this fact??
Things aren't perfect with the SG2 there's the:
1. Heat dissipation issues were people are already returning their phones just for that alone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068663
2. WiFi Issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067473
3. (Much More Than Normal) "Dead Pixel" Screens
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065935
4. Lack of Notification LED - (most knew about this already)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058596
I'm not going to say which phone is better since they All 3 phones have their issues, but it's also interesting to watch people dropping $750-$1000 already thinking the SG2 will be the perfect device. (yes there's no perfect device blah blah blah...)
Anywhoo... For the record, I'm not totally trilled with the Atrix at this moment either. I've also thought about switching to the SG2 already myself, but IMO it's too high of a price tag to give it a chance right now.
The bottom line, there really isn't really a clear cut winner...
hmm i have an atrix 4g, simunlocked from att, i had issues with wifi in my country, now that i managed to fix it and am running gingerblur, im very happy with the phone, however the case really is squeaking (back when i was in the US i had another atrix4g which i went to replace cuz the fingerprint scanner locked up occasionally, that one had perfect build quality, this one just squeaks at the top, and she cover shell is somehow too big for it...) and the locked bootloader is really annoying me, the screen is very good in my opinion. If i would be buying one of the phones now i would go with the LG i think (my main reasons: tegra2, unlocked bootloader, proper support), as to the sgs2 its too big in my opinion (seriously hwo needs a 4.3" phone, even the 4" are too big kind of - id prefer a 3.8"/3.7" like the original htc desire, but noone makes high end phones with that screen size..). Cant say much more about the sgs2, as that it doesnt have tegra2 which i prefer over other dualcore ARM based chips right now. Atrix has way better hardware specs than the LG tho: more ram, more flash, better battery, webtop, fingerprint scanner - love that one lol, the only worser spec is the camera on the atrix. so go figure For stock use the Atrix would be the best ithink

soo, if you want the opinion...ask in xda general not in motorola session....
thats probably a very good idea. I love my atrix so im going to lean towards this phone.
General might be less bias.

LOL I wish i could get the razr maxx but its not an option with my carrier..
With those three phones I would choose the Gnex over the Razr because of the screensize and better support. I choose the Maxx because of the battery. The screen isn't as good but it is comparable in many ways and the support for the Razr is improving but will never be as good as the Gnex. I also had a Captivate for 1 1/2 years so I wanted to try something other than Samsung.
Surprisingly, neither the gnex nor the razr sell well in my store. (damn iphone).
Obviously for battery life, the MAXX pwns the rest, but I agree with the support base for the gnex and if you've ran ICS on the razr (even half-baked as it is right now) you know it was worth the wait.
galaxy nexus has a really bad battery..i have razr and in terms of speed the razr is same as gnex...only screen is better on galaxy nexus but razr has even better screen than samsung galaxy s2..!i had galaxy nexus and samsung galaxy s2 and now i am with motorola razr...for me the best and winner is razr,it has nice quality build, waterproof, slim and battery is really good, with normal use i get 2 days without charging the battery..google nexus has for me the worst battery ever,12 hours doing nothing and battery already dead and the most stupid thing is that it needed always 3.5 hours to fully charge same as samsung galaxy s2..of curse the most important for me was the camera...hmm yes galaxy s2 has better camera than razr BUT it always stutter omg same thing i faced on gnex and i said what the hell is wrong with samsung cameras?now with razr even camera is super for me with stabilization without any stuttering like samsungs i had...!
p.s
i am really a gadget geek...
i had 3 different samsung galaxy s2...1 used for a week in black color, gave it for iphone 4s which i hated it much already then again back to S2 in white color used it for 3 weeks and gave it for gnex which i used it a week and again back to S2..all had camera stuttering for me and bad battery so i decided to try Razr..and here i am..Rock you like a hurricane as you see i found happines
best voice quality both incoming and outgoing is RAZR, head and shoulders above. that's why i have one. i have to have professional conversations on my phone and cannot afford to not be understood. Samsung phones are for teenagers and people without real lives.

It is good for the most part. Slightly laggy because hardware acceleration still isn't optimized, but it isn't terrible enough for me to complain. I read that FFC has been fixed, it just hasn't been baked into all ICS roms yet. I was on ICS with my Captivate since the first port in November and I just couldn't take being back on Gingerbread with this phone. It has been really good and it will get better because the support is really great.
The support for the RAZR/RAZR MAXX is more than what people think. Sadly the community is spread across multiple sites, but the RAZR has plenty of ROM's and flashables to optimize speed, looks, and functionality.
I see it the same
RAZR MAXX > gNEX > RAZR > SGS2
gNEX has it beat with custom kernels and open bootloader, and also the screen size. Honestly because those 2 factors, the MAXX has it beat on all other fronts.
Stronger radio, battery, stronger build (gorilla glass, water resistant), and of course battery life. Both phones have nearly identical CPU, GPU, and same RAM -- so performance wise they should be identical.
Anyway.. just my take on it

Ya, I've been doing a lot of thinking about this qlitchy razr xt912. Just stepped into the pressing 6.11.748 update, still hoping for a smoother operation.
So my question is in part, what is all this hype about the ics? Less bloat? I'm considering doing myself a favor and freezing some of all this crap on my current os.
so what's ics really gonna do for any of us? Just more bloat that we'll have to freeze & remove to have an awesome phone? Sounds like a hassle, that I never woulda expected from Android ... windows, yes... but not Android.
The ics roms have zero bloat and it is much better than gingerbread. It is better in every aspect.

My friends have all phones mentioned and I have the razr, and everytime I show my phone off to someone new they fall in love with it.
This phone has quality surrounding it. Sound Quality is exceptional on phone calls and music. The screen is bright, and you can get ICS for all the devices mentioned so really that point is mute.
I would get the razr maxx over all the rest for the great battery life.

RAZR, iPhone4S or Galaxy Nexus?

Ive decided to get a new phone (Well, actually my HTC decided for me by having its touchscreen die) but I'm not entirely sure what to get.
(The part that sucks about this, is all the new quadcore phones and iPhone 5 coming soon/later this year)
The Galaxy Note was just too big, so I've narrowed it down to the Galaxy Nexus, Moto RAZR and iphone4S. How have you found the GN to be? Is there anything I should keep in mind?
The RAZR and the GN have pretty much the same GPU/CPU combo, but the GN has a better screen, right? For those of you who have tried both, is there a major visible difference between the GN screen and the screen on the RAZR?
(Yes, I've heard all about the Pentile display, but it doesn't really bother me on the RAZR. I tried as hard as I can, and I can't tell the difference. Probably because the resolution is so high...)
The thing that's holding me back from the GN is the camera. I've heard that its fast, but not very good (Esp. compared to the iPhones camera) and at 5MP the resolution is pretty small these days.
The RAZR is kinda tempting because of all the accessories (Lapdock etc,) the ultra thin design, 8MP camera (Thou I've heard the quality is so-so) and being expandable up to 48 GB. But how is the camera on the RAZR? I've noticed it shoots pretty fast, but how does it compare quality wise?
I'm trying to keep ICS out of the equation, since the RAZR will have it soon.
And then theres the iPhone. I've heard the camera is awesome on it, it has a GPU that still can't be beat by any Android phone, and Apple is really awesome with providing updates quick, and for a long time after they released a phone. The thing that really holds me back though, is the 3.5 inch screen. Yes, it's an awesome screen, and amazing PPI, but I'm not sure I could get used to a screen that small after having an SGSII and Evo3D for a while with a 4.3 inch screen.
So yeah, is there anything about the RAZR I should know about? What phone would you choose if you haven't chosen what you have? And how do you find the battery life?
Dude it depends on your experience by using Android phones or IOS Phones for me 4s is better cuz it has lots of features when jailbreaked....About Nexus its cool but kinda "slow" IOS Has better speed and performance I mean NO LAGG at 4S
PLEASE GIMME THANKS!
From those 3 phones I would choose the Razr. The thing that is bringing up the thought of returning mine is the bootloader: will it get unlocked or not, if so when? The apple Iphone I would simply never ever consider it because the phone is so locked(no widgets etc) and the Gnex is awesome because there is so many roms+ unlocked BL. But if the RAZR gets the BL unloacked I think it will be a beast. The built quality is one of the best i`ve seen on an Android phone. Beats bith the Gnex and Iphone.
Sorry for spelling mistakes I am writing this on my tab without auto correction.

My advice is the Razr as i have had a Iphone4s and nexus and a Galaxy S2
the razr is best in build quality along with the iphone4S
Iphone 4S is the most overrated hardware in this century so far i kept it for 1 day and sold it
While Samsung phones feel all cheap and nasty but have great features
The Razr is a great phone and its now my main phone , defo the best phone on the market at present
only bad side to Razr is locked bootloader and it doesnt have WIFI direct
great roms Icecream Sandwich roms already out put the phone to near full potential
Cant really fault this phone its the best by far
I came to the Razr Maxx from the Evo 3D. I loved the Evo 4G and Evo 3D. You won't notice anything about the screen that overly zealous people are complaining about on the Razr's screen. The screen is great. But get the Maxx. The battery lasts all day long. You'll really like that feature.
The Apple's screen is just too small. It would be nice if they released a phone with a bigger screen and loosened their control over the device just a bit. With Jobs dead now you would think that might happen but I wouldn't hold my breath. Afterall, why give the public something they might want. Apple knows best.
get an iphone kthxbai
For me decision to buy a razr was quite easy. I had 3gs & 2x iP 4 and I definitely didn't want to come back to this s#*%. I'm talking abt iTunes and othes "advantages" of IOS.
Samsung devices are realy high performance but.. looks and feels like a piece of crappy plastic. But I wanted nice and solid looking device.
Well, that's my story.

thanks whore.
I wouldn't add much to what everyone here has already said. It basically boils down to preference.
iPhone 4s has a really smooth interface and yeah iOS is optimized like ****! But then you're hardware support is gonna run out pretty soon cuz it has no dev community. Also if you're an experiment freak like me, you're gonna feel caged. You'll be stuck with an older version of iOS while all the newer Apple devices will get updated.
With Android that isn't the case, I still have my old 2010 SE Xperia X8 and even it's got an ICS port. So device support (at least unofficially) isn't an issue.
Now coming down to GNex vs. RAZR
RAZR wins out on almost every front. Better build quality, signal/reception, camera, call quality and GPS. A smaller screen and lesser res(it in no way looks pixellated or anything, the display is just beautiful but statistically lesser in res and size) with the same GPU as GNex means you'll get higher frame rates as games start taxing these GPUs. Also its the slimmest in the world(one of a kind) with a revolutionary design so you got bragging rights too!
The RAZR has a TI OMAP 4430, which is a lower model that GNex's TI OMAP 4460, but then their both clocked at 1.2 GHz. Untill we get overclocking support, you won't actually notice any difference at stock speeds.(please correct me if im wrong here)
The RAZR does lose out on the locked bootloader and direct update support. But we've heard from kholk that a bootloader bypass is on the way and also that Motorola is planning to unlock our bootloaders with the ICS update in Q2.
The fact that Gnex has ICS again doesn't matter much. ICS doesn't bring any thing really useful to the table. Its just like a hyper-optimized Gingerbread. No lags, smooth UI and all that ****.
The RAZR is scheduled for the ICS update anyways and I'm pretty sure that it'll see android 5.0 too!
PS: Even if the Gnex was better than the RAZR in every damned specification, I would still buy the RAZR. I just can't stand the plastic on Samsung phones. When the hell are they gonna learn that you don't put something as cheap as plastic on high end phones! :/
BTW tried to keep my thoughts as unbiased as possible. Hope it helped!
EDIT
Sorry forgot somethings!
Battery on the RAZR is awesome! I can easily get 1.5 days of normal usage with some wifi (no data however). Also you can use setCPU to lower processor speeds when the screen is off! Thats a big battery booster!
Battery Life Order:
RAZR>iPhone 4S> GNEX(Battery on the GNEX truly SUCKS!, idk what samsung was thinking)

All in what you want. IPhone has kinda a Fisher Price ui IMO. It is fast & smooth. And is missing lee capability. Screen is beautiful, but tiny.
Nexus has a cheap battery door. The camera is small, but fast. And there us no SD slot. Deal killer for me.
I have a couple Razr Maxx's. I love them. They are sturdy, and the battery life is phenomenal. Motorola Blur is coming along nicely. The smart actions are extremely handy, as is Motocast. HDMI has full mirroring, which is also nice. The nano-coating is not only water resistant, its fingerprint resistant. Bootloader is the only negative for this phone, unless you're looking for NFC or a barometer.
If u are a crack flasher, u might want the nexus. Otherwise, for something that just dominated out of the box, Maxx can't be beat yet IMO. Don't waste you're money on a og Razr. U will just end up frustrated with battery life.
Hey I would consider the rezound out of all of them. It has the best screen out with 720p 4.3" display, equal to the galaxy nexus but sharper. 32gb of storage, 8mp camera with 1080p recording. 2mp front face camera. Beats audio, Dual core 1.5ghz snapdragon processor. Dev support is outstanding. Mine is running android 4.0.3 ics and has face lock. Phone is the only one aside from the Thunderbolt that can talk and surf at the sametime on 3g and 4g. The other 4g phones on Verizon can only do it on 4g. It's rooted and has free WiFi tethering. The galaxy nexus is ok but it gets boring from times. Vanilla ics is ok for some. The 5mp camera was not that great and I dislike the fact that there is no external sd card slot. The only thing great to me about the nexus is getting the updates first. I wish HTC was still making the galaxy line up. The razr is ok. It has great signal, battery life is great. Screen is pretty good. I don't know if it's that new pin tile technology on the razor or not but I hate the pin tile. Looks grainy or something when looking at it close. I hate motoblur. The only thing nice about blur widgets were that they were resizable but they suck to me. There like windows phone 7 tiles without the live action. The rezound is a excellent phone in my opinion. HTC sense is just a better UI to me. Sense 4.0 is even better and runs very light on the Rom. Or with the rezound you can also go with the vanilla feel of ics. Screen is incredible. Music sounds amazing, never had a problem with signal. My battery life is great with dev support getting 14hrs out of my rezound with heavy use. Camera is beautiful.

The Sense UI on the HTC rezound actually makes the phone lag! Sorry dude, I hate Sense with a passion! Seen too many HTC phones with my friends. :/
And the 1.5 Ghz dual core processor isn't even a true dual core. Its more on a makeshift arrangement. Thats the reason why HTC Rezound is beaten by the RAZR and other TI OMAP dual core phones in benchmarks. And as far as Beats are concerned, its just a software equalizer, nothing else and its already been ported!
And an LCD display doesn't even come close to a S-AMOLED display when it comes to color contrast and brightness. Besides AMOLEDs eat less battery with dark colors!
Also the Rezound is bulky and HTC is probably gonna kill hardware support for it very soon in light of the new HTC One series release. So I don't think its that good an option.
Dont go the Apple way, I just did but couldnt go back, to many things is just missing.

It all depends on what you're looking for the most in using your phone. For me, getting all my calls, texts, and voice mails on time, are number 1 priority. And Motorola is known to make great wireless radios. The internet speeds are awesome on it. I love the Droid Razr. Not a big fan of the screen display technology but it's easy to get use to. Also not a big fan of the TI OMap processor, I think it's kinda slow but it's not a big enough issue to drive me away. It has a nice camera and it's a really nice smartphone. The build quality is fantastic in my opinion. The device just looks beautiful. I read and also have heard in videos that Motorola isn't gonna be seeing ICS updates until 3RD quarter of the year. That's pretty late. If you're thinking about getting the Razr, I would get the Razr Maxx. But the thing that sucks about the Maxx is that right now it only comes in black I believe. The OG Razr comes in black, white, and purple.
If you want the ICS OS right now or you plan to root and flash roms, your best choice is the Galaxy Nexus. Google phones are made for development. I expected something amazing with the Galaxy Nexus but it's ok to me. Only thing it has that I like is ICS. The display is ok. I expected better with 720p HD.
Iphone 4s has a great camera and screen display. It looks to be smooth when I play with it. I never owned one so I don't know. My friend who was an android head for years went to get a iPhone and he loves it. Says it's smooth no lag. Not as many bugs as android. I may have to mess around and get a iPhone in the future lol. But it would absolutely need to have a bigger screen and it would have to be a 4G device. The current screen size with iPhone is too small for my taste but hey some people might not care.

Razr/Maxx The Best Phone of 2011-2012

My friend bought a Iphone4S yesterday showed him my Razr running official ICS 4.04 , hes gonna return his phone for Razr Maxx when its out here in UK now
A lot of people will switch to Razr and Razt Maxx now ICS is here now
Can't wait for the official ics

Razr is not the best, because Razr Maxx is just one inch ahead of Razr.
After owning Razr/GNex/RazrMaxx this is my take.
Currently still owning both GNex and RazrMaxx
Iv had all the best android phones ,and an iphone4S but nothing compares to this phone it has the build quality that is the best iv seen , screen is great quality , even the built in speaker is real good quality sound , would give the Razr 9/10, Razr Maxx 9.5/10 because of ICS makes the big difference , Galaxy S2 7.5/10 , iphone 4S 7.5/10
I've owned just about every phone Verizon offers. Every phone has *something* I don't like. It's all about choosing the lesser of the evils. Apple is just too damn locked down. I will not own a stock Apple device and it really sucks that you have to stay behind in OTA's to keep jailbreak and if you accidentally accept an OTA or have to wipe for any reason you've pretty much lost JB for good. Even jailbroken it's limited, not to mention the small screen, and no free gps, and no 4G. I believe firmly that if the next Iphone doesn't have 4G, gps, and at least a slightly larger screen they're going to start losing business.
I had the Razr and wasn't pleased with it at all. The battery is par but you can't change it so you're constrained to a charger. I don't like Moto's locked bootloaders but it is really thin. So I picked up a Galaxy Nexus. That phone is perfect....except for battery life and no external sd slot. So when the Razr got the ICS leak I picked up a Maxx and updated it...and I haven't put it down since. Literally, this phone could go for days at a time on a full charge, which means I can go pretty much all day using the hell out of it, on constant 4G. At the moment, Razr Maxx is the undisputed champ of Verizon phones.

I had a galaxy S1 & S2 i did like the phones apart from the poor and cheap build quality , in your hand it felt like one of those toy phones you get from the local £1 shop , and speaker was poor compared to sound quality of Razr , only thing Samsung Galaxy S2 had better was the WIFI Direct option , Screen on Galaxy S2 was Super Amoled + , and Razr has Super Amoled Advanced , which has proved to be better in many different ways, The Razr/Maxx will still give the Quad Core phones like Galaxy S3 and HTX 1X a good run as quad is just a fad and not really required , all it does is drain battery even more on already power hungry smartphone devices, Look at Nokia Lumina 800 single core and it still kicks ass
i dont have a windows phone but from what most people in the trade and developers are saying that the next generation of Windows phones might take over top spot from Android in terms of OS user friendless , I hope not as i love Android
Having used many high end phones over many years I'd agree on build quality but that's not to say an issue, doing a screen comparison the razr has better clarity but seemed to loose definition, the power on razr is no where near sgsII even Sensation XE @ 1.5GHz comes no where near, been using razr for nearly week and yeah its a flagship device but on pure power user and being of ORD I'm slightly lost
It does look sexy though

To that I say bull****, but I agree with the rest. Screen matters too much for me to switch from my rezound to the razr maxx though. :3
rezound is whack and so is your opinion
Mod edit: No swearing on XDA in accordance with rules minors use the site.
I came from the rezound to the maxx. The rezound is a good phone. The screen is gorgeous. It is better than our panel in the maxx BUT I could hardly read my rezound w out cranking the brightness up. And its fat. I had the extended battery and actually liked everything about the rezound except the thickness and couldn't read it so well in bright light unless I cranked it up.
I have the 84 leak on my maxx and it is great! The little things about my maxx are fine. The screen is good bit not amazing. The battery is amazing.
All phones have strong points and weak points. Best? Top 5. There are many good choices.
Only thing missing is ICS to make the RAZR perfect (yes I know there is a leak out there but I dont want any t-mobile branded **** so I'll just wait for the official release)

I used to be obsessed with reading about every new phone being released, but then I got my RAZR Maxx. This thing is ridiculously great, especially with the ICS leak.

Maxx or s iii

I currently have a RAZR maxx and I'm being offered by Verizon to switch to the s iii because of problems with recent replacement phones.
2 questions.
1. Is this a smart move? Newer phone less battery.
2. I have a very old cheap unlimited data plan. I am scared of loosing it. Could that happen? I have lost a text plan this way in the past.
Thanks in advance.

Replacement will not.

I was on a Maxx and loved it. Switched to an S3 and liked it a lot. However I never found the love for the s3 that I had for the Maxx, so I sold it and picked up a cheap Bionic. This has been fun, but later today I am switching back to the Maxx and I'm excited. It is the phone for me.

S III of cause ! ! !
Look the S III is a better phone by far but the fact that you have a Maxx and you've already experienced such good battery life on a smartphone switching to the S III or any smartphone in fact is going to be "poor" battery life in comparison.
If your looking at getting the S III you'll have to sacrifice battery life, but, in return your getting a Quad Core, better screen and camera, official Jellybean and way better development...
hmm
I own both and switch back and forth. If the MAXX was easily ROMable it would be no contest. I miss Jellybean when I use my MAXX and I miss the battery and radio when I use my S3. Both are great phones. One is hindered by a lousy radio and a small battery, the other is locked and un customizable. I tend to use the MAXX more since I live in a bit of a low lying area and get poor signal to begin with.

since you have both, could you do a voice quality test for what you sound like to others, that is, the quality of the microphone and sound compression algorithms on each Phone? This is an easy test, just read a few sentences into voicemail with each phone and then play back to hear which is most intelligible.
The Maxx has a great battery life. I had the Maxx for a good while and now I have the S3. I don't regret my move at all. Battery life isn't an issue for me. I don't live on my phone anymore since I got home internet now. Wireless Radio is the same as I got on my Maxx. I work in a fringed area and was surprised my S3 was working just as good getting all my calls and texts. The Wi-Fi range on the S3 is a lot better than it was on my Maxx. It's more consistent holding the Wi-Fi and is able to find Wi-Fi farther away than my Maxx did. The S3 camera is the best I've ever used. Picture and video quality are soooooooo nice compared to Motorola's camera work. Their crap sucks. Motorola don't make the best cameras. And I love the camera features on the S3. No shutter lag is great. I use my camera like everyday or every other day. The software is pretty easy to use on the S3 and I love it. The display is amazing. I was like stunned coming from the Maxx to an HD Super Amoled. I think the S3 is perfect sized for my hands and the way I use my phone. I do watch movies and youtube on there so that screen is nice for that.
I use to rock the Razr, then switched to Razr Maxx so I won't knock it too much. I don't regret changing to the S3 at all but everything is a personal preference on how you use your phone. The bottom line for me was I needed a better camera and it's nice to be back on a bigger screen and I like the new touchwiz by Samsung. It's nice to have toggles when you pull down the notification bar. The Motorola ICS UI is cool but was too plain for my taste. Keep in mind this is just my experience. I can't say it will be the same for someone else that made the same switch or vise versa.

As a Telephone, MY GS3 works perfect. I can hear my callers well, I receive all my calls, texts, and voicemails in real time and not a day or two late like when I was on Sprint with the Epic 4G Touch (Sprint's S2). I can truly say it's my best cell phone I've owned to date. All the other cool stuff is just a bonus
I was a little skeptical because my S2 had a horrible wireless radio. That made me move to Verizon and get a Motorola (Known for good wireless radios). It was good and all but I see nothing less on my S3. Maybe the state I live in just happens to have great towers? Maybe I just got a S3 that doesn't have radio problems. I've read a lot of people had wireless radio problems with the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, then some had the problem with the S3, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to make the move back to a Samsung phone. But I did it and it's been a great ride so far. I can't wait for the official Jelly Bean update (when ever Verizon gets that to us lol).
I have an S3, and I am dreaming about the Razd Maxx HD, but since I'm irish, I cant get it here. So that leaves me 3 options.
1., I can stay with S3, and live with that
2., I can switch to Note2, and check how that works out for me. Never had such a huge device, I'm afraid it looks silly when I hold it to my ears.
3., I can buy a Razr Maxx, model from last year, because I really want a good battery life.
which one you suggest for me?

I roll with the S3 and I think it kicks the crap out of anything else that's dual core processor. I use to have the Razr Maxx. It doesn't even compare. Only thing better on the Maxx is the battery life. So far the most I've seen out of the S3 battery is a tad over 6 hours of "screen on time" at 13 percent battery left. But that's with 4G off for the most part. My Verizon 3G is fast enough or else I'm connected to Wi-Fi.
The Note 2 looks nice if you don't mind the size. I'm not really a stylus person with my phone so I wouldn't get the Note 2 but it's all a preference.
There's no reason to go to the Maxx. You can get extended batteries for the S3 and most likely the Note 2 since they both have removable backs. The Razr HD is cool. The S3 does have occasional lag on the dual core variants, I can't lie about that but it's nothing compared to the lag I had on my previous Maxx. The lag on that Razr annoyed the crap out of me. I seen some reviews saying it's not much different on the Razr HD. Now if you have the S3 with the quad core processor, I assume it doesn't lag much at all but I can't really say since I've never played with one.
Why are you dreaming for the Razr HD? Besides a step up in battery it seems to be a step down from the GS3 in my opinion. I've read some people rag on the GS3 wireless radio not being good for them but I have no problems with mines. My wireless radio see's nothing less than I did with my Razr Maxx. The Wi-Fi range is better on the S3.

The droid RAZR HD maxx scores much higher than the gs3 in quadrant (I know its kind of inconsistent but its something) and since there will most likely be a custom ROM on the device I doubt there would be much lag. I never see lag on my RAZR maxx and it scores relatively low on quadrant.

I care more about actual day to day performance. Quadrant doesn't mean much to me. Not to knock it or anything I just don't really care much for it. I've had both so I can truly speak on both. There's less lag on the GS3 and the phone is much better overall to me. Obviously you can't compare battery life. Nothing beats the Maxx/Maxx HD stock battery. When it comes to extended batteries there are some bigger ones than 3,300 mAh for the S3.
You've never seen lag on the stock 211 ICS build for the Razr Maxx? That's pretty cool. With the lag issue I'm more referring to the stock builds of each phone. I'm not talking about custom roms or any over/under clocking.
Thanks for your contribution guys!
I am using a lot of tethering on my phone, so I can create a hotspot for my wifi-only tablet. Thats why the battery is a big deal for me. Other than that, I am using the phone for calls, texts, and sometimes for photos, but I can live without the last one. My GS3 is the european version so yea, it has quad core processor and no lag so far, even though WANAM is cool, I've had some troubles with his rom and with every bigger sized roms too if its about lagging. With HyperLight/HyperGalaxy ROM I have no lag at all, so thats my daily driver atm.
Why don't you just get extended batteries for when you do tethering? There's a good amount out there for the S3, at least in the USA there is. You should look up on ordering some if they got'em over there. I

Thanks for telling us how others sound to you. Could you comment on how you sound to others? My experience has been that Motorola phones have always had far superior microphones and compression algorithms so I sound much clearer to the person I'm talking to, whereas Samsung phones have been ****e in comparison.
I sound fine to people I talk to. I never asked them to rank it like 1 - 10 but they say they can hear me good. There's nothing wrong with call quality or wireless radio on my S3. The 4G is actually faster on my S3 when I ran speed test app.
