exclude apps from the task killer? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I really like the asus task killer, it shows the apps that are running, how much they are using, you can kill one or all at a touch of a button...
HOWEVER
it is slow
i cant find any way to exclude some apps (like ADW launcher)
it constantly changes sizes so when you kill an app you have to wait for it to redraw
does not see all processes
Does anyone know any similar apps? I really like the widget, i know theres lots of task killers out there, im looking for one with comparable widgets.
Also on the topic of killing apps, it seems a lot of apps are running without me wanting them, like music or maps. why do they keep popping up when i dont use em?

I had the same issues. Grabbed es task manager and like it a lot so far

[Q] Memory usage of HTC Sense and custom ROMs

I sometimes find that my Hero struggles for memory and the OS has to close background apps such as the launcher, which is kind of annoying. This leads me to ask two questions:
1) Do third party launchers like LauncherPro generally use less memory than the default HTC Sense launcher? Or does it make things worse, since it seems some parts of HTC Sense are always running in the background anyway?
2) Do vanilla custom ROMS that don't have HTC Sense generally run with more free memory for third party apps, because they aren't running HTC Sense and other HTC-related stuff?
Thanks in advance guys!
The default setup for the Hero shouldn't close your Launcher. That is odd. Are you running any task killers?
Personally I prefer Vanilla builds with Launcher Pro, but i've never bothered testing memory usage as it isn't an issue AFAIK. I never have apps close that I immediately need.
When I was using the regular sense launcher, I did find it got closed reasonably often. It happened mostly after web browsing, I guess because web browsers are very memory-hungry apps. I kind of figured the system should try not to close that app, but when I've checked with task managers, it always seems that the launcher process tends to be at priority 400 which is pretty low - certainly a candidate to be killed at any moment. Since switching to Launcher Pro things seem to have improved, but I am not sure why. I don't use any task killer, as I read that you should leave this stuff up to Android to manage.

[Q] a few questions about some apps

I've got a few ideas for apps i'd love to have, but don't know if they exist, or which ones are best, so hopefully someone can help me out
1. Whenever Titanium Backup does a scheduled backup, it closes all apps and HTC sense in order to do a backup. Before doing this, i got about 120-140 free RAM, but after Titanium Backup does a backup, i'm up to 300-350 free RAM. I guess it frees alot of RAM when it closes all the programs.
My question is, is there any app that does this too? Without doing a backup? Maybe a simply 1-click widget that closes them all (including HTC sense) and then opens up the needed apps again?
2.1. I used to use normal HTC sense as my launcher, but switched to ADWLauncher EX. One of the two things i'm missing is a proper 1x1 widget to disable/enable 3g network. There are lots of apps that can make a shortcut to the settings, but i don't want this. I want one similar to the one in HTC Sense.
Any ideas?
2.2. There was a "Sync" 1x1 widget in HTC Sense, which forced it to sync all the items i had chosen whenever i clicked the widget, is there another 1x1 widget for this in the market?
3. In ADWLauncher EX, i can hide the status bar with a simple swipe, but is there any way to hide the app drawer shortcut (which is at the bottom of my screen, where the HTC sense navigation bar used to be), along with all my icons?
So the screen would be completely clean of everything, and all you could see is the wallpaper.
4. When i had my old HTC Desire, i used to have an app that would allow me to assign 1 wallpaper to each of my 7 homescreens, but i can't for the sake of me remember the name of the app, can anyone help me out?

Can anyone help me?
No one can help me? :S
There is a lot off apps for killing running processes. Autokiller, advanced task killer and many more. If you want more ram, change rom .. Im running cm7 and have aprox 330mb free at all time.

Randomly killing apps/processes is not advisable. Android was built to multi-task. Use Watch Dog Lite if you want too see what uses your RAM and CPU. Free RAM is wasted RAM, to some extent. And if you kill everything, you risk missing important things like texts, widget updates, etc.

Multitasking

Just wondering, does anybody use any apps to "enhance" their multitasking? Such as PowerStrip, Smart Taskbar, etc.
Eclipsed from my DX2
Not really, since the stock ICS multitasking is pretty solid.
Don't really switch between apps that much on my phone, most of the time it's just the browser+xda+music player.
I use the shake TaskXP for MultiTasking app on my android phone. It has a task manager and Multitasking switcher.

[Q] What a Taskmanager should I get?

Hello,
Sorry for my bad english.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, and flash'ed the Resurrection Remix 1.7 ROM. BEST!
What I missed is a Taskmanager like the original Samsung ROM Taskmanager.
You can see what is open (okay... I can see this with ICS too), whats in the Background open (this I cant see), and how much RAM it eats /how much RAM is free...
I looked at the Play Store, and there are Apps, they are old (are they still ICS compatible?), or they are ugly or have Ads like "Wanna have better Battery!?! OMG!!! Download my all-can-fix-app here".
I dont want anything, only the funktion, whats in the Background open, and how much RAM it eats... Like in the Samsung ROM with the one widget.
Sorry for my bad english.
Hope you can help me. Becouse I dont find something...
Thanks.
+1 I was wondering about this too.

you dont need a task manager on android
android manages ram differently
if you kill a app with a taskmanager
android will just restart it= wastage of battery life
apps in the back ground are frozen and wont affect performance but u can remove them in the ics multitasking UI

Thanks for the answer.
But when I will watch/show (...my english... ugly!) what is in the background? Or what CPU eats?
Can ICS show me this too? Becouse I doesent find enything. In Stuck ICS from Samsung, I can watch it, and so I can see, for example:
I have installed "Testapp A", and I wonder, why the battery will be so short, I go to Samsung Taskmanager, and it shows me that the App running in the Background, so I go to Play Store, and delete this app. So it dont running more...
With Stuck ICS I wonder, why the battery goes down... I looked. And an App was in Background. A Game... So I have deleted this crap.
Do you know what I mean? Its for me more Diagnostical, I know, when I kill something, it will restart.
Maybie it´s not a Taskmanager, it´s more a Diagnostical app?
Sorry for this english.

what a bunch of bull
background apps are frozen on iOS, not on android, they fully run, hence the term "full multitasking".
also, just services will restart on their own, normal apps, like youtube, games and so on are fully quittable, why would they restart? do you think all your apps run all the time?
the more ram is consumed, the more power the device uses, so exitting background apps saves battery.
i am also still looking for a good task manager like the samsung stock one, because in ics, some apps just don't quit, like skifta, with the dlna server running all day the battery life goes down massively and swiping it away in the recent apps screen just doesn't quit it.

Actually it's not a bunch of bull. You can freeze apps on android using Titanium Backup. Also you can disable some apps that you don't use (not all of them allow it) or don't use frequently with just app manager in system settings. Then you can re-enable them when needed.
You can try apps like Task Killer, etc... (and make sure you kill it too so it's not on all the time), but it's not as good as freezing with TB.
Good luck.
Don't know if this is "ugly", but it's ad-free anyway - Diagnosis.
I like it anyway, and the dev is great, posts on the apps section. His SD Maid app is a godsend.
I use ES Task Manager. Find it useful and you can also mange cache and startup programs.

Stock task killer vs market task killer?!

Guys my mind seems to get stuck because i use advance task killer and i have also task manager the stock app that comes with the GS3 ....the thing is if i open more apps and kill them with advance task killer they are still available to kill with stock task killer and also the other way around...So what does this tell me?! What is the best way to actually close the apps that are still running in the background?!

Don't use advanced task killer.
Let me repeat that for longevity, DO NOT USE ADVANCED TASK KILLER!
That was useful pre froyo, not now.
Let Android do its thing.

Don't use any 3rd party task killer it will only decrease you battery life. Task Manager is pretty good. Just kill the task and use "clear memory"
Like the guys say, you do not need a task killer from the market. Android manages tasks for you. If you have a badly coded app use the samsung one which is under long hold home for convenience. Usually this is force stop in application manager
