Hi . i tried to deodex android.policy.odex to edit the globalaction.smali and framework-res.apk. after editing i recompile both file to what they used to be. then flash it with cwm but the screen wont boot.. my question are ,
can i just deodex android.policy.jar , edit and odex it or leave it deodex?
is there any other dependencies for this file ?
pls advise... tqvm

Hello guys , i'm new here .. just got Galaxy S 2 and want to re-enable the CRT-Off animation effect , i went through the tutorial from free your android dot com
did the decompile and changed the value in the XML file to false .. my problem is how to put the Framework-res.apk file in the shape like it was .. tried copy and replace with Rootexplorer twice and end up with bootloop twice also i had a backup so i restored ... i'm using the stock rom jk2 v2.3.5 rooted with the speedmod-s2-k2-16 ... i found the apk manager tool here on XDA it's a handy tool but still don't know to achieve this with the the tool ... so all i need is the CRT off animation back on for a start
thanks in advance guys
After recompiling framework-res.apk you have to copy META-INF and AndroidManifest.xml from the original apk.

please explain more if possible ..
Rebuild apk. For example.
Apktool b c:\framework-res framework-resnew.apk
Then rename framework-res.apk and frameworknew.apk to framework-res.zip and framework-resnew.zip. extract framework-res.zip and put meta-inf and androidmanifest.xml into framework-resnew.zip. delete framework-res.zip and rename framework-resnew.zip to framework-res.apk.
Good luck

Can't find smali folder after decompiling systemui.apk/framework-res.apk
As the titles says, i'm unable to find smali folder either by decompiling using apktool or using 7zip or winrar or anything... I have hidden files/folder view enabled on my laptop/64bit windows 7. My device is xperia s with stoke ics 4.0.4. I posted here to know if its general. Or is there no smali folder in systemui.apk n framework-res.apk.. Or its something specific to sony's ics? Thanx for clarifying me doubt....
There are none in the framework-res.apk, and they reside in the SystemUI.odex on a stock odexed system - you need to first deodex to get to the smali files.

You need deodexed roms for decompiling buddy.... You can't decompile/modify an odexed jars and apks.. Their classes.dex are optimized and removed from them..
There are scripts/programs you can use to deodex an entire rom. use Google or the Search Bar for that :silly:
Alright !
Thanks for clearing my doubt

Single apps can also be deodexed using certain tools
