I looked through all my directories and tried searching using the default search on the phone and also using "MyFiles" and it doesn't bring up anything with /system/ at all. I also searched for SuperUser.apk and it doesn't bring up anything on that either. Am I missing something completely obvious? Because I know it shouldn't be this difficult to find a freaking directory. I am rooted, I know because I have SuperUser app and TiBu works perfectly. Just can't find these stupid files.
You need a 3rd party file explorer, like es file explorer or root explorer
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en
I use Astro so im not too sure how MyFiles works but most defaults are set to open to your "/mnt/sdcard" (internal storage). You need to move Up directories to the parent folder until u reach just "/" which would have your /system. Find a button or at the top there might be a "..." folder you can click on to move to parent folder.

The MyFiles I'm referring to is 3rd party, but it does seem to start at the /sdcard directory.

Yea, it seems to be locked from going back any further than /sdcard.

ES file explorer, root explorer or like nasapunk88 mentioned, astro would allow you to find /system
good luck
EDIT// glad it worked out for you

You're correct about My Files sort of. There is one that comes on the phone called "My Files" and that is the stock app. But there is one in the market called "MyFiles" that is 3rd party, but (no offense to the dev) just as useless as the stock version for me since it is locked down from getting into any directories above /sdcard.
If using ES file explorer, go to settings scroll down and select root.

Hey guys! Just wanna ask if Stagefright should be enabled? I'm not sure if mine is.Anyway to check and then disable/enable it?
Just disable it dud
But how do I disable it?
are you using void rom?
if yes, just check under the void\setting folder
if you find stagefright folder then it's enabled, if don't then it's not
to disabled it, just delete the folder and reboot
But I'm using megatron...
The setting is in the build.prop file. I just don't know what line exactly, but I'm sure it's there
All right I found it.Stagefright was indeed enabled. Now I just have to to find a way disable it! Anyone can help???
False instead of true?

If you have a text editor on your phone remount system partition rw, edit the file and remount it back to read only.
Another way would be pulling the build.prop through adb, edit it, remount the partition rw and push the build.prop back.
After you have modified the build.prop just reboot the phone.
Hope it helps.

Only the media.stagefright.enable-player is true. The others are false.
Make that false too, tht is the trouble.maker

I dunno about root explorer, I dont use it, but if it lets you remount rw and edit text files then I would say yes just press mount R\W and edit
Put media.strangefright.enable - false.
All right,I've done what you all told me.Is this right?

Personally I got all 4 disabled. Play around a bit and see what best suits your needs.
Save it. Reboot. You are done.
Alright! Thanks you guys!
I only have this issue with Trigger roms. It seems as if the system/media/ directory is read only.
How do I change the folder so I can edit/delete the file.?

Clicking the button does nothing. I only have this issue with the last two trigger roms.
I've used it on trigger and it works. Click it once and then you'll be able to write to the directory. If it doesn't then click it again. I assure you it's not the ROM..
Edit: your screenshot even shows R/O in root explorer.

If you need to go to the market and get super manager it will ask you if you want to remove or what ever before you do it. Very user friendly
Try reinstalling root explorer. Happend to me before when i can't toggle that button for the read and write. And that fixed it. Good luck.

Wipe data could do it also. It's an apk issue for sure.

I found very nice app yesterday on Play store, its a FREE file manager with same or maybe even more functions than root explorer plus it has much nicer UI (I think). Its only beta but very nice to try. (it also have permission change etc).
Main features:
1. Two independent panels for browsing
2. Drag and Drop inside and between panels
3. FTP, SFTP and SMB/CIFS clients
4. File sharing via FTP
5. Support for ZIP, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2 and RAR archives
6. Creating ZIP and TAR archives
7. Dropbox and Box support
8. Bookmarks
9. Root access
10. Indexed search, also available from the system (that means that you can search for files from the Google Search widget/app)
11. Detailed file and directory information
You can download it free from Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solid.explorer&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInBsLnNvbGlkLmV4cGxvcmVyIl0.
this app was made by: Krzysztof Głodowski
downloading now, nice app.
Trying to use it but now can you set it to read write..... Every time I have selected a file to copy to system or data it gives error yet with root explorer it works..... Any ideas or help?
Thanks for sharing

Great thx but big menu. How can little menu?
I would download this but I was a sucker and bought root explorer. If only this was available at the time.
I don't see the option for changing permission. where is that?
and it doesn't ask for permission. I think ftp isn't working too.

After long pressing the file you want to change permissions for tap properties you will then see what the permissions are set to off to the right of that you tap change and a small box will pop up and there you can change the permissions.
I hope this helps and please click "THANKS"

I don't use RootExplorer but free ES File Manager app.
There you have to enable root options in app settings, which will unmount system partition (as it is usually mounted read-only) and re-mount it with read/write access.
Only then you will be able to modify something (e.g. add, remove or change a file in /system/...).
Maybe RootExplorer app also has such a root option in its settings menu.
Good luck !
You can delete any file with root explorer if you are rooted.
You just need to mount the partition to r/w.
There is a small button to mount r/w in root explorer at the top but only if you granted root to it when starting it. Only after mounting r/w you will be able to delete the apk.

Yes i am using es explorer, by root explorer i meant "File manager with root acess"
Anyway here is screenshot i have already enabled all options there for root access but i just can't seems to delete it **Sad**
I want to merge some WhatsApp databases. I have followed this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/how-key-whatsapps-crypt-files-message-t3364700
but It didn't work for me (no backup windows was opened, tried on Windows as well on Linux) and then I found that I can decrypt the crypt12 database of WhatsApp by using a key, which is supposed to be located under:
/data/data/com.whatsapp
provided that the phone is rooted, which applies in my case. But when I navigate to this folder there is no key, but only a link: lib -> /data/app/com.whatsapp-2/lib/arm. A folder only with files with a .so extension...
I have searched starting from the root with different file managers but there is no key!
So I don't have one or what is going? Is there any way to merge my databases?

Using the es file explorer,
I can find all the crypt files under whatsapp/databases (non root folder) and the key store file under /data/data/com.whatsapp/shared_prefs/
Not sure of what you are seeking but maybe this is the probable file
Regards,
milkyway3
Thanks for the quick response!
The database folder is there, no problem. Under /data/data/com.whatsapp there is only one linked folder named lib, nothing else. I have now also used ES File Explorer to verify.

EDIT:
I thought that my phone was already verified but apparently it wasn't. As soon as I recovered an older backup from google drive and verified, I could find the key in the files folder. Although that didn't helped me a lot since I couldn't restore an older backup. Seems that the key was changed.

I can't find key file anymore.. /Android/data/com.whatsapp is empty, contains only cache folder.
/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp contains Databases and Backups folders, but no key files.
And backup are created in sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases folder as crypt12, crypt14 files
