1-ice cream sandwich is going to be announced next week correct !
2-isn't it the next android Operating system for phones up from honeycomb
Yes or No !
WiKi Android OS
2.3 Gingerbread
3.0 Honeycomb
3.1 Honeycomb
3.2 Honeycomb
Future releases
(ICS) is short for > 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is said to be a combination of Gingerbread and Honeycomb into a "cohesive whole".[51] In September 2011, Eric Schmidt stated that Ice Cream Sandwich "is being released in October/November."[61] Ice Cream Sandwich will be publicly unveiled on October 19 in Hong Kong.[62]

So what's the problem answering the question ?
why the hell are you yelling?
Yes, ICS is going to be announced next week
Yes, it is the next android version for phones and tablets. honeycomb was only for tablets.
how the hell would we know for sure if we are going to see ICS released from samsung for our phones? you seem to want a definite answer, yet we cant give that to you because im guessing most of us dont work for samsung.
a good guess would be that, yes we will see a touchwiz version of ICS made available for our phones, but not for months from now. we most definitely will not see a version as soon as its released on the nexus devices.

Yeah, it was a joke. My whole point was it's funny how people worry about an OS release that they don't even know anything about, yet they let it influence their buying decision.

google makes new version of android
google releases new version of android (only available on nexus devices at first)
manufacturers begin working on their tainted/bloated/overly UI'd versions of the new google android build
eventually, at close to the time of the next new shiny build of the next android version, we see the manufacturers, (more importantly the carriers) start pushing out the version that is now 3-6 months old, and we see complaints up until the point the next shiny version is put out about how all the manufacturers/carriers are stupid and dont support their devices....
rinse, repeat

If you don't know what the benefit of an OS is, why would it matter if you have it or not? You're acting as blindly as the sheep who bought the new iPhone 4S just because it was marketed as an upgrade.
At least be informed if you're going to ask stupid questions. Nobody minds answering questions from people who google the question first.
The new OS is expected to be unveiled on October 19 and fans all over the world can watch the event live on Google’s YouTube channel, starting 10 AM HK time. Along with the OS, the world is expecting Google and Samsung to release the Nexus Prime / Galaxy Nexus smartphone at the event as well. The Galaxy Nexus has been highly anticipated since it will be the first smartphone to showcase the ICS OS.
So 10:00 PM Tonight it'll be broadcast

rumors that google is speeding up its dev process and is pushing 5.0 around april.
these rumors are all over the net and have been sense the day android 4.0 was released. its rumored that 4.0 was just to integrate honeycomb and gingerbread. wasn't supposed to be as major as everyone sees it. 5.0 has been rumored as strictly tablet and laptop android. they have rumored that 5.0 will take over chrome OS and actually try to get into the desktop competition. also it is rumored that android is trying to work with Microsoft to have android 5.0 and windows 8 dual boot on touch screen laptops and computers right out of the box.

also i cant wait till google makes their own car lineup. a car nearly completely operated my android and to work with your phone. i know apple has an app and is sponsored by some car maker that allows you to start and unlock your car from anywhere in the world. google needs to go a step further. make your cars electronics completely customizable. like changing the theme of your dash board (speed dials, AC, radio, ect.) think about how awesome that would be.
Followed by years of waiting before it's pushed to more than a handful of phones

in that video of the electric cars the dashboard looks a lot like it could be android os. haha.
who knows what will really happen. google bought motorola a while back. I imagine its a matter of time before the next motorola flagship tegra 3 phone comes out. its possible that maybe they would release one with 5.0.
You can forget about this rumor about Android 5.0 coming out in April because it ain't happening.
For one thing the blogs were referencing Google's original Google I/O event dates of April 24-25th which is why the rumors started with an April release. However Google I/O has been rescheduled for June 27-29th. Don't expect Google to release any Android version until it has gone through Google I/O. Honestly with so much fragmentation with ICS, I don't expect Google to release Jelly Bean until the October time frame like last year.
enjoy ICS please !!!
It's definitely not coming out for a while, and although the thought of better, more efficient android updates is exciting, we should all be content with ICS for now, it's almost to the point of being fully worthy of being a daily on the Mopho now.
Isn't this one of those threads that needs to have a "[Rumor]" in the title? I hate looking at a thread thinking, "OH MY GOSH, an official announcement I haven't read yet?" to find out it's rumors...

sorry to get your hopes up. ill put rumor in the topic next time. i think jelly bean is getting pushed more for tablets first, instead of phones anyway.

looks like your right. check out ics release date from this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501769 its 3rd quarter of 2012
Hi all,
Google unveils gradually Jelly Bean. Apparently, that is an update Ice Cream Sandwich and not a new system in its own right (Am I wrong?).
The SDK is available.
So little questions to our dear developers CyanogenMod :
Is it planned for Folio?
Are you already over?
If so, we allowed was a small picture?
PS: This reminds me a story, there is now a little over 7 months :good:
PS 2: If that is not the case, no regret, your work is already great about ICS.
Just kidding for the photo.
The SDK is for today and I know that if you can and your time permits, you will do, I 've no doubt about it.
My question is above all the possibility of porting the new version?
Of course, I don 't hesitate to give you a few beers for your efforts.
You gotta wait until Google publishes the source code (July?), then the Cyanogen Team must start working over it and finally hope that DerArtem/nopy or another good guy tries to get it working on our Folio 100.
Gotta take some time, by the way.
For July, I think that's the update for Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Xoom which should emerge.
What is reassuring, that is an update, so may be less work for our devs (i think )
I am a little surprised at these few changes (important for some), but it shows that Google wants to improve its Android 4.

Possibility of recovering the data folder for the Jelly Bean Galaxy Nexus here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737824
I have tested a lot of applications and the keyboard is problematic (for the vocals it's good but not for the keyboard), but the new 3.7.11 Play Store is Ok with more choices in applications, I' ve the impression.

The adventure seems to have maintained Folio : https://github.com/nopy
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!
Well, this should not be so terrible for our devs this Jelly Bean, I have seen so many red lines of green on GitHub.:laugh::laugh:
No kidding, that is feasible?
Some devices seem coded and I even saw an other kernel : 2.6.36?
In any case, good luck to you.
This is good news!
Very good news :good: !!! : https://github.com/DerArtem
Good luck DerArtem
Hello,
As I see, there is a possibility of Jeally Bean on our Folio 100 and I suspect that no future updates on ICS won't be. If CM developing JB that means it should be even better than ICS, but its not(My opinion) because if ICS is having those problems that are described in Fix List then JB will have even more. And I think that JB will be little better then ICS, but will see.
Here's a question for all you ICS testers: NFC working?
I think this Q&A section is redundant - seems like general section would be fine for questions. Just my opinion/suggestion.

No, NFC is not working as it the Razr does not have an NFC chip. Which is required for NFC to work.
I read that there is a NFC chip, but the motorola, not handed to google the drivers included in the ICS ...

I think that you're mistaken, here are two different sources claiming the Razr doesn't have an NFC chip.

What are the benefits of upgrading a device to Ice Cream Sandwich?
Ice Cream Sandwich brings an entirely new look and feel to Android. It has a redesigned user interface with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full web browsing experience. With Ice Cream Sandwich, Android has been rethought and redesigned to be simple, beautiful and useful. Ice Cream Sandwich introduces innovations such as Face Unlock to unlock your phone, a Data Manager to control your network data usage, and advanced multimedia and imaging features. Ice Cream Sandwich also provides developers with new APIs, unified U.I for phones and Tablets, and improved performance by enabling developers to leverage hardware graphic acceleration.

*** What is the NFC support?
By NFC support, they mean just on the software end. Android as a platform could not interact with NFC prior to ICS, even if the device had an NFC chip. However, regardless of Android's software support, the Razr twins do not have the hardware to utilize it.
i'm inclined to agree with you, except the whole article is about the razr/max not other moto phones.
i seem to recall another press release saying the same thing.
it's really misleading on motorola's part, if there is no nfc support besides just android o/s with no functionality.
I think it's more just a disconnect between them talking about putting ICS on the Razr and them actually discussing what ICS is, but it is deceiving in a way.

As i know the razr not have the nfc chip. BUT! I use offical 2.3.6 android on my razr. Only rooted, without any mod, or tweak. Only root.
If i want to share something... i can select the nfc tagging option. I dont know why an how. But there is nfc option. (If i select it, its force closeing, so didnt work. But as i write, it is the latest offical rom.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is already out on the Galaxy Nexus, but other phone are still waiting for manufacturers to do the work and update their handsets to the newest version of Android. What’s worse is that some handset will never officially get updated to Jelly Bean.
If you want to change that, you should be on XDA Developers where all the development happens and now the Samsung Galaxy Ace and Gio, some of the most affordable low-end Androids, got the CyanogenMod 10 ports.
CyanogenMod 10 is the Jelly Bean based version of the custom ROM. If you want to flash it, just check out the links below where you’ll find all the detailed information you need.
Interestingly, the Ace and Gio were never included in Samsung’s plans for the update to even ICS as they run on a pretty dated ARMv6 processors. Now, a very important disclaimer is that those ports are not yet final - they are alpha versions that are still not ready for prime time. You can get on and help the developer and also get a taste of what’s to come with them though.
What's the point of this? Posting an ad for XDA forums on XDA forums kinda defeats the purpose, no?
