Samsung rom or AOSP rom for better Battery? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will a samsung rom or an aosp rom give me more battery and performance? I was thinking of miui or checkrom revoHd v6. Also which kernel is the best?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

samsung put some bloatware in their rom so generally an AOSP rom should achieve a better battery life
Bettery life also depends on how you are using your phone and many other factors . You can try those ROM and kernel out by your own to determin which suits you best

As said earlier it depends on the usage.. Some good ROMs are CheckRom(use siyah or speedmod kernal) , CM7. 1
If you want ics, try cm9.. I'm getting a great battery backup.. Try cm9 with lpb modem..
Thank me if I helped

There's so many variables between phones "users" that there is no better...
Flash backup try ROM/Modem/kernel combos.

my favorite WAJKIUI ROM .... fast, and better battery
Agree with above plus if you add setcpu you can get amazing battery life.

check rom with siyah kernel 2.3 ,very fast medium battery life...if you want better battery life get sensation rom by crysis with siyah 2.1
I am always on internet due to which the battery life of my Samsung GalaxyS2 is very poor. If i install a custom rom which has a better battery life will be very good.

What is the most time you received from your battery?
Read the development forums and try one until you get something you like.

ics rom

hello. sorry for spaming..but i cant find something interesting..
in want a stable fast and good performancing rom. must be smoother than butter
can you say me a rom which is samsung ics based ?
I use WanamLite, but also liked VK rom. Might also want to take a look at FoxHound. All are Samsung-based ICS roms. My preference is WanamLite though...smooth and food battery life with no bugs.

Just try the ROMs yourself. Asking for best ROM or for ROM suggestions is against the rules because nobody can answer the question for you.

Have a look at my thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26775950
I have tested the stock kernels on the corresponding stock ROMs.
For me ... on my phone with my normal usage (which is "light"), XWLPD has best battery life.
Depending on some settings, which I found here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16973603
The one you test yourself.

Although that is a vague and discouraged question in XDA (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612881), I'll bite.
I'm using the stock XWLPG firmware with Siyah kernel (default settings) and am getting around 5.5h screen-on time with heavy usage. That's considered good to me. My advice is to just go with a stock rom with Siyah/Speedmod kernel.
Just test out different roms and see what you like
Sorry man. You need to decide what's the best for you. Also you should have read this

Siyah 4.1.5. and Neatrom lite works for me.
Speedmod latest GB kernel (I think it's k2-21) + checkrom v6. It's a GB though

Try this one, you'll get the best battery life anyone on here has ever had. I promise.
I use dorimanx kernel 7.11 + slimbean 2.8
In my case the battery lasts longer and it's stable and heavily customizable :good:

Seems all of them are the best. Gonna flash them all together.
The absolute best battery you can get is with Kernels that have MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled.Trust me. It might take you a while to find one but when you do, woah. Be sure to do a few data wipes after you've flashed the said kernel to get the most optimal battery life. I promise you it works, I did that and haven't needed to charge my phone for over a month now.

Hi Guys,
I'm a new member so I cannot post in the Development Thread of the Super Nexus 2.0 ROM for the Galaxy S2 GT - I9100.
Galaxy S2's battery life is horrible as experienced by most people and I am no exception. So I was looking for a Good ROM with best battery life.
My search ended with Super Nexus 2.0 ROM. Its a very good and stable ROM. But its been almost a month since i installed the ROM but the battery life is almost the same as the Stock ROM. Tried some battery saver apps, but not satisfied. I would not like to change the ROM as its brilliant expect the battery life. So thinking of changing the kernel (Never done that before), so what do you guys think which Kernel is the best for Super Nexus 2.0 ROM and Battery Life.
Thanks.

JB battery life?

Hey there guyz, just wondering, does JB consume the most battery life between ICS and GB?Is it because of its performance?Do u recommend people in XDA to choose GB roms for great battery life and JB roms for extreme performance?Pls guyz, give your opinions Thank you
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I think you must try to make your personal opinion my opinion is that i dont care how much it consumes because screen is no 1 in consumption
Send from my SGS2 I9100 with HassanROM and latest DorimanX 8.xx kernel
The rule on the Galaxy S2 forum is that you are not allowed to ask which ROM's are better, which is basically what your thread is asking. This is not allowed as everyone's opinion of a ROM is different, and what performs well for one person may not perform well for you. You must try these ROM's yourself, with different kernels for better performance and battery life to find the optimum setup for you. Sorry but that's the way it is.

Dude. Really?? He is not asking which custom rom is better. He is asking for opinion about GB ICS or JB. Those are not developed by devs here. Being nice is a good habit.

Actually if you ask for consumption. I think ics is way more superior in saving battery than JB. There are so many reasons for that. Check the change log on wikipedia you ll come to know. Screen causes more drain on JB. Im also agree with the person who first answered your question.

Ohh great Which means that GB consumes the least battery life right? In your opinion,do u really look into performance than in battery life

I've personally noticed I can't get as good battery life with JB as with ICS. I use the same settings, and the same apps, but ICS seems better for me.
On the other hand: some people got great battery life with JB, so I also would recommend to try both versions to compare. Performance-wise (and the wonderfull features), JB is the best
Our official jb came with the biggest battery drainer .
Is the media scanner .
On gb or ics we didn't came across this bug cause it could be fixed .

Here's a question:Back in ICS XWLS8,its firmware was 717MB and its battery was superb. But now in most rom in ICS and JB,its 300MB+ and battery is .With a huge amount of 400MB difference, how does the battery resist for long hours?

I'm on JellyBam 7.8.0,Android 4.2.2 JB,and I can get up to 2 days of battery.(My WI-FI is nearly always on,and I use it for games, like Plants vs Zombies. So I could say battery is pretty good, through I think back in October,(when I got my phone,It was on ICS 4.0.3),the battery was a bit better. But still...not bad
Mine sucks with wifi on, I gotta get into that asap.

Yeah,so GB is considered to consume the least battery while JB consume a bit more battery than ICS.I guess sticking to ICS is rather fine for me

And 1-5 day for daily use

But curious though, how can ICS(XWLS8)weigh 717MB consume lesser battery than ICS and JB Rom which weigh 300+MB?Isn't it suppose to be the other way round?

Not necessarily, all stock ROM uses about the same partition space storaged.
