Siyah 4.1.5. and Neatrom lite works for me.

Speedmod latest GB kernel (I think it's k2-21) + checkrom v6. It's a GB though

Try this one, you'll get the best battery life anyone on here has ever had. I promise.

I use dorimanx kernel 7.11 + slimbean 2.8
In my case the battery lasts longer and it's stable and heavily customizable :good:

Seems all of them are the best. Gonna flash them all together.

The absolute best battery you can get is with Kernels that have MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled.Trust me. It might take you a while to find one but when you do, woah. Be sure to do a few data wipes after you've flashed the said kernel to get the most optimal battery life. I promise you it works, I did that and haven't needed to charge my phone for over a month now.

nice finding mate..
I would love to encourage Samsung to install this lovely kernel to all it's android line-up so we all can get benefit of life time battery life

Hi Guys,
I'm a new member so I cannot post in the Development Thread of the Super Nexus 2.0 ROM for the Galaxy S2 GT - I9100.
Galaxy S2's battery life is horrible as experienced by most people and I am no exception. So I was looking for a Good ROM with best battery life.
My search ended with Super Nexus 2.0 ROM. Its a very good and stable ROM. But its been almost a month since i installed the ROM but the battery life is almost the same as the Stock ROM. Tried some battery saver apps, but not satisfied. I would not like to change the ROM as its brilliant expect the battery life. So thinking of changing the kernel (Never done that before), so what do you guys think which Kernel is the best for Super Nexus 2.0 ROM and Battery Life.
Thanks.

also I heared it could be dangereous to enable that....that confuses me a little bit

[Q] AOSP Vs Samsung ROM. Battery Life

Been thinking about this and cant decide, well wonder if anyone knows.
Do people think that the Samsung ROMS de-bloated and stripped to minimum with a decent Kernel, have better battery life than say a AOSP ROM, with a custom Kernel?
Just a thought!?

For sure, why not matey?
Look at my results
Sent via my s2 monster
Where are your results?
The maximum I ever achieved on a Samsung ROM was just under 7 hours screen time with stock battery. Max I've ever got on AOSP is 5 hours screen time. But I've just flashed a new kernel so I have yet to see if that makes a noticeable difference.

See that was my thought. I remember back in the GB days i always seemed to get more battery out of the Samsung lite ROMs than i did with CM7 etc.
I have a 2000Mah Battery and I'm only really seeing 1 day 14 hours on AOSP with 5 hours screen time.
On GB, i would have around 2 days, maybe a little more with the same screen time.

Your results look interesting. Im tempted to flash a Stock ROM (Wanam Lite) most probably and try that with NEAK Kernel, or Abyss (Never tried Abyss)
Battery 69% with 13h of use. Resurrection v1.5 with stock kernel. Awesome!!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Going to try Wanamlite.
Will strip more crap out of it as 235mb is still alot!
Will most probably add NEAK Kernel with Lulzctive tweaks and see what happens!
I still think stock ROM is better for battery life, for some reason!
At least with Vertumus' new theme its more or less similar looking

You can go ahead sir.
I'm interested in how well you can perform with new neak kernel.

I do believe its true though.
I'd love to see some 'proper' results though. Wonder why Stock Roms perform better battery wise than AOSP.

With N.E.A.K. I was having some SoD. I dont know why... so i decided to use custom kernel of Resurection remix v1.5. With Thoravukk 2.30 and siyah 3.0rc6 the battery life was weak.
Getting excellent battery life with VK ROM and speedmod kernel. Amazing combination.

I was on stock, unrooted. Rarely on wifi since I have a mobile 3g plan. Use email and twitter often. Some surfing (rarely), play bit of games etc. I get 40+ hours out of it.
I just rooted, still stock (for now). Removed all the telco crap and am gonna freeze the useless stuff. Perhaps it will be better.
Only thing is i hate the Stock look, and even with vertumus theme its still not the same!
I hear good things about the LP9 Base.
Not sure whether to try Wanam's LP9 Or Dynamic Slim!

I love SpeedMod kernel. I've been using it with Foxhound ROMs (GB and now ICS) for a while. It just gives great battery life, and I've had no issues with it at all.
i get good batt life an iam on stock 2.3.5 gb but i was neva satisfied wiv custum roms life..but every phone is diff an depends on how u use it,may b custum or stock.....cheeerz
Combination of HYDR0G3NICS + Siyah 3.1rc6 gives me about 6-7 screen on time. Which is quite impressive. GPU + CPU UV. Tweaks. etc.

How to make wifi better

Hey
This last weekend I rooted and installed different roms to try. Most of them still have poor wifi performance, just like stock.
Is there a way to make wifi better? Maybe flashing a new kernel, a new modem or something?
Thanks.
Modems/Radios are meant for Service network provider thingies, like your signal. Whereas, Kernels are for more "internal" things, they affect battery life and WIFI.
so i suggest you flash a custom kernel that best suits you
I hope this helps!
Thanks!
I was thinking of trying siyah kernel. Is it the best one for Wi-Fi performance or is there another one better?

If you're on ICS, Siyah and Franco both worked well for me, if you're on JB, Siyah alpha/beta builds are the only option until the i9300 sources are released.

I cant quite tell cause it's a matter of how you set it.. but imo, siyah is the bomb
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I flashed siyah 1.5.3 with CM10 teamasek rom but wifi still doesnt work. I dont options for wifi inside Stweaks.
I will keep trying with other roms.
What I want is the best combo for the best wifi performance. Best combo rom - kernel - whatever. I really need to improve my wifi performance at home.

[Q] [q] which rom to use?

Hi I am 15 years old and i have a samsung galaxy s2 GT-I9100 with stock ics 4.0.3 (exactly I9100XXLPS). It have some issues with (not opening some times) wifi and several battery drain when im playing games ( need for speed, asphalt, etc). I want to play games and surfing but my phone does not keep its battery until night. So I want a rom and a kernel which have no much battery drain, fix wifi issue and if its possible to extend the wifi signal...
Sorry for my poor english.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, i'm also 15 yr old, btw i'm from Serbia(if u know where is it...), if u using cf kernel it has a wifi bug so i suggest u to install siyah or dorimanx kernel... And, i think themes like this(whats best rom, which to use, ...) are forbidden, sorry btw try SuperNexus rom, for me that's best rom for begginers, wish u a luck !
I have to say that ROMs are all about personal preference. Imo you should test out various ROMS to see what's best for you...
That being said, I'm currently using Cm7 on my I777 and it has great battery life (although I suspect it has something to do with turning the second core off and using Siyah GB.)
For Jellybean my preferred ROM is Super Nexus... I got pretty good battery on that one too!
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
I'm using PA 2.54 with Dorimanx 7.17 kernel with moderate UV and battery save settings from STweaks. I deactivate auto-running non-useful apps and location services, use lower brightness, uninstalled some system apps and frozen others, etc. Search forum for more info

Sorry, but i am not a begginer and i know where is serbia... Anyway i am using stock kernel too now. Also i was using latest jelly bean resurection remix with latest siyah a week ago, but latest resurrection remix version had a very big issue with severe battery drain, so i decided to return to stock unbranded 4.0.3 and then try an other rom. Thats why i create this threat, for not trying all s2 roms.....
Thanks to all of you guys who replied.

How many battery cycles did you let the battery settle for? You should give your battery at least 3 cycles before you judge the life of the battery after you flash something. You can also try CPU spy from the play store to see if your device is deep sleeping. Also try better battery stats to see if you have any wakelocks.

I use RR 3.1.2 and I don't think there is a severe battery drain. Use better battery statsto know what caused it, at the first place.

I give the battery 10+ battety cycles in each rom i try before i report... I will try battery stats and set cpu but i think (because i have tried them in rr) they will not give me the exact reason about my problem. I will try again and post here the results.
Anyway, thank you.

In rr 3.0.1 jelly bean (the latest i have tried in rr) i didnt install the fixes which released one day after (was for rom fonts, etc, nothing for battery), because i have updated via update me app, which didnt download the fixes... Yesterday i found these fixes on internet... Do you think that this was a cause of my battery drain problem? But why the problem remained (not like in rr, but ramained) after i installed the official stock 4.0.3?

Hardly when idle and ok while using it. 4 - 5 hrs gaming. That's the max you can get with stock batteries.
Im not 15 and I want a rom and kernel that makes the battery last a week. Will be playing games all day,and making the odd call, and listening to music.
Ive got a ds,a psp and an ipod......but I dont use them now as its my phones responsibility to think its all them........and to make calls etc.
Now why have I got to charge the phone every day ......its totally ridiculous.

Every phone reacts different on a rom. The only way to find out is trying by yourself. Also every custom roms has its pros and cons not only battery life, but looks, functions, speed etc.
Kernel is also very important for good battery life.
No doubt. ..go for neat ROM 4.4 and flash custom kernel.. I would recommend hirox 5.1

I first installed speedmod 5.3 and worked as expected... more than one day with moderate use and data connection enabled just when it was required. Actually I have installed the 5.6 version and the phone always remains awake... with the 5.3 version I was able to notice the time intervals where the phone went into sleep mode... does the developer (hardcore) know about this? Unfortunately I cannot post on dev forums... thanks to all

I have made a huge mistake... and I realize of it after going back to 5.3... of course it failed... then, go back to 5.6 again but for my surprise, the phone started as if it would have been reset to default... and everything was new, and fine, and working as expected... I have applied the 5.7 version and still working flawlessly...

Dorimanx kernel and mobile standby

I use a CM rom and recently switched to dorimanx kernel.
Since then I have seen that mobile standby is using a lot of battery something that had not been happening using CM stock kernel.
Any advice?

Its normal to have battery issues for a day or two after flashing a different kernel. Give it another day and see what happens. :good:
P.S. Next time you flash a kernel, use a kernel cleaning script before flashing. And also mention which versions of CM and Dorimanx you have now. That will help us help u better.
Yeah it happens with me as well. With 8.38,battery life was very good but with 8.39,it drains fast in standby.I'm using it for 4 days but battery life is same.

Let's not turn this into a 'best kernel' type thread.
I will however say that I have great battery (up to 5.5 hour screen time over 14 hours total) with dorimanx + 4.2.2 ROM.
