I just installed a widget from the market called MineMessageVibrator.
Code:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/minemessagevibrator/com.mine
It's freeware and is simply a widget that allows you to toggle SMS/MMS Vibrate on and off. It is a bit laggy but works as advertised. I am not affiliated with the author in any way, I just wanted to share what appears to be something rare on the vibrant - a way to quickly turn message vibrate on or off without having to go into message settings.
I have tried Beautiful and SwitchWidget among others, they all have toggles for ringer and notification vibrate but not message vibrate. Am I the only one who doesn't like to leave message vibrate on all the time?
What I would really like is a widget that toggles vibrate for all three (ringer, notification AND message). If such a beast exists please enlighten me. Otherwise I hope you find this useful (I have it pinned next to SwitchWidget ringer/notification vibrate widget).
So I have gone through and set up my alarms using the default "Alarm & Clocks" app.
I give it 10 snoozes of 10 minutes each (or any time interval).
I set the snooze check box.
My alarm goes off at the correct time. I slide the snooze graphic across the screen and then 10 minutes later it goes off again. Good.
If I bump or shift my phone while trying to hit snooze it turns off the snooze, much like if you hit "dismiss" or "cancel". This is a feature?
Now, I do not know about anyone else, but I tend to not have fine motor control at 5 am. This has happened to me so many times since I got this phone. The best part is that it gives you no warning that it does it. You slide over the snooze button and think you are golden. But, in fact, you have turned off your alarm. It is not listed anywhere in the documentation or in the app.
How do I disable this functionality?
Are there better alarm/clock apps?
What the hell is "Smart Alarm?"
I have a question regarding the stock lockscreen (i.e. the default touchwiz lockscreen):
When I receive an email I see no notification on the lockscreen but when I receive a sms message I see a notification on the lockscreen. Can anyone tell my how I can enable it so I can see a email notification on the lockscreen area? And I am not talking about a notification in the notification on the top, which I get. I am using the Samsung email client (i.e the default one).
Thanks
I'm searching for this as well. I didn't even know that new sms notifications would show up on the lock screen until this morning.
It's a really nice built in feature. If it would show emails and missed calls too I wouldn't need an app which would be preferred.
I haven't seen anywhere to edit anything other than the wallpaper of the lockscreen although the manual makes it sound like you can simply long press to edit.
Is this hidden in Samsung Apps or somewhere we wouldn't think to look?
Testing:
Missed calls show too. I guess just Emails don't which is a little odd.
Only missed calls and text messages show on the lock-screen, the only customization allowed on stock lock-screen is clock position and of course the lock-screen wallpaper.
Music widget will also show on lock screen if your using the Samsung music player
Thanks, I didn't know about the music player showing.
Emails would be really nice. A quick link to the camera would be the only other thing.
Good enough for me to not use an app (widgetlocker) though.
I have Google Now on my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus. I enjoy using it mostly because it reminds me when to leave for appointments in my calendar. I just recently tried an App called Popup Plus to try and get the screen to wake up when I have to leave for an appointment instead of just ringing the notification alarm. Problem is that you can select what processes you want to wake up the screen and show a popup message but Google Now does not appear as one of the options. I was just curious if anyone might know of a possible solution to my dilemma.
Pretty much with how often notifications ring from email and everything, it is very easy to miss one about leaving for my next meeting. But the option for the screen to wake up when my tablet is sitting right next to me on my desk would be nice. That way I can dismiss the notification and get ready to leave. Any thoughts?
Hi
every morning I have a notification about the weather of the day. It comes from the standard weather app. But on this app, I cannot disable notifications.
I'm not sure but it might be coming on when the alarm sounded.
I have not enabled google now - so it's not this.
any idea on how to switch this off?
Cheers
UPDATE: It's defenitely connected to the alarm. when I switch of the alarm, I do not get the notification in the morning.

Click to collapse
***HERE'S HOW:***
Go to settings> applications> application manager...swipe over to "all"...scroll down to "weather daemon"> UNCHECK show notifications. DONE.
Thanks. Did that. Strangely it stopped happening even before.. No clue why. But now it's defenitely off
I been unchecked that for a while now but still getting Weather of the day popup everyday.
they are back .... no clue what this is about...
does anyone use the alarm clock and does NOT have the notifications in the morning?
What I did was add the weather widget to your home screen, then launch the app (only way to run the weather app...stupid) . Now click "More" in top right. Then there are 3 toggles to turn notifications on for the edge screen, lock screen & calendar. Turn them off.
I don't have any notification settings there.. it's more like "Show weatherinfo" and then edge screen, lock screen, s planner. But these don't have an effect.
btw. this morning.. no weather notification.. it seems completely random

you still can open Weather setting from Edge screen setting, also the way you show will not work because it different setting from the op ask, he asked about the notification popup everyday, the setting your show it to show the weather ON/OFF of all the time on Edge screen, lock screen or calendar.

Funny, but I am trying to find a way to enable it again.
Does anyone know what exactly makes/triggers morning weather notifications right after alarm sets in? I liked it but it went away for some reason and I am not sure what has changed/what I've have changed in between. I still use samsungs weather widget with manual updates as I did before. Tried setting up alarm with auto refresh but still the daily weather notification won't show up after the alarm is triggered.
Solution?
Has anyone figured this out yet? I like getting the daily weather in the notification drawer but for the last two days it seems to have stopped.
This morning I had set an alarm and cancelled it before it went off, that's the only thing different about today and I don't usually set an alarm. I don't think I set one for yesterday morning but don't believe I got the update then either. No idea what is different.
Will test again tomorrow morning without an alarm set.
Very annoying that there is no obvious setting for this.
New Phone
I have a brand new S6 now and just realised that there have been no weather notifications since I got it. And I'm not using any alarms and the notification options are all selected.
How on earth do I get them back?
The weather notifications work for me if I have an alarm and location services turned on.
