You can't find Car home on the market, so just download the good zip for you @goo-inside.me and then, pull out Car Home.apk and install it as a normal .apk file!

Hi everybody,
Since my first Android phone I liked the looks of the stock GenieWidget from Google. But the black background I didn't like. So I made a version with no background. I also changed the stock icon with a better one. For everybody who also likes the widget (app) can download it here. I've uploaded the stock one (with modified icon) and the one with the transparant background (also with modified icon).
How to install:
1. Make sure your phone is in "USB Debugging" mode and connect it to your PC.
2. Download the version you want and extract the files.
3. The file GenieWidget_BG.rar is the stock one and the file GenieWidget_TS.rar is the modified one.
3. Click on the file called "geniewidget.bat" and it will install the file.
4. You're done
If you want to install it manually copy the file GenieWidget.apk to /system/app with your file manager.
I tried to find the newest version (1.3.04), if you have a newer version of this app please share it with me and I will update mine!

So I installed a Market CM7 theme. I found it on my phone (root/data/app) and pulled it to my computer for modding. But it's a zip file.
I want to mod it and then flash/or install it.
How do I install this zip file? I was expecting it to be an apk file.
Obviously it's not a flashable file since it installed via market initially.
You will get the Market using CM7 when you flash the GAPPS file... and all the other Google APPS.... did you load the GAPPS zip file like the instructions on the CM7 install instructs you to do.

You downloaded it via Market and it was a zip? Weird...I didn't even know that was possible via market. It should be an apk. Both are just compressed and can be opened with 7zip/winzip/winrar but still zip themes usually imply recovery flash to replace apks or at least metamorphs.

Ah, I take that back...I do have one market app that is a zip (or at least that's the extension). I'm guessing you just do whatever you would to an apk edit-wise. For installation, you might just be able to rename it .apk if the same tools were used to create it. Otherwise, extract and make it yourself maybe.
ok looking at the theme "apps" in the market. the instructions are in the app description. it says open theme chooser app in cm7.

Yes, once installed they are visible in theme chooser. He's asking about actually installing one after modifying it.
When I downloaded the cognition rom v1.6 a message comes up that says widget locker at the top. Then gives 3 options to install, install and add or cancel and the message asks if i want to install the theme. Is widget locker geting in the way of the download some how? Also when I browse for the zip on sd card I can't find the name of the file even tho the download said it was complete.

download directly from smartphone sometimes will break (due to wifi / data / server connection intermittent ) especially if you download from direct download provider (multiupload,filesonic,hotfile,etc) not from direct server. please check back the md5 after you download and compare to the original file.
but it's advisable to download from pc and then transfer to your phone.
btw, if you finish download the rom, flash it using cwm .. do not open the zip file (in your case, i dont know why do u want to it ? )
also make sure the rom, for your bell i9100M is compatible or not with the normal i9100. because i found out the i9100G is not compatible.

your zip file is corrupted - unexpected end of archive which probably means it wasnt uploaded fully or there was a packing error
repack and reupload the zip

the zip looks ok
the only way the playstore would force close is if the user had installed another playstore before but changed the name of the playstore apk
for example in your script you have got delete vending apk and replace with com.android.vending-4.5.10.apk (this should be named vending.apk)
so if the user has updated their playstore themselves and have a different name then I spose technically you will now have two playstores installed which maybe the problem but normally if you install and apk it would just replace the old version if the manifest names are the same
I cant really test it as I im on cm7 and I use official gapps
all I can say is in my experience of installing gapps you should either
1 - not have any gapps installed to begin with
2 - or if you are in a stock rom with gapps already installed clear data first to avoid bootloops/any problems
