[Q] How to transfer EVERYTHING to my SD card? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

my 32gb sd card will be here today. I need to put all of my music (in google music), all my contacts, all my apps, and any other data that can be transferred. I want this because on my last android phone i never used my SD card and now i wish i had a backup. Thanks!

As far as the music goes just use a file manager to transfer the files. my personal favorite is root explorer.
And for the contacts and apps it would probably just be easy to sync them to your gmail. then when you get a new android it will download all the apps you had and add to your contacts list.

Would be nice if there was a simple. Way anyone...

Simpler How? doesnt get much simpler than clicking sync to google

was your last phone rooted? If so, did you use Titanium backup...if so back up all user apps with tibu and put your backups on your ext sd. IF your NOte is rooted...put in ext sd from old phone and restore ONLY user apps with tibu. back up and restore contacts using google.
If you were NOT rooted on old phone and NOT on the Note...it will be harder. BUT when you go to market with new phone it will have all your PAID apps in "my apps" and you can d/l again. What i did when i wasn't rooted was write down all my apps so you don't forget what apps you have that aren't PAID. and re d/l/ it honestly has been sooooooooooooo long since i have had an unrooted phone that is the best i can do. I am getting my Note on Monday and until i root it so that i can bing , bang , boom with tibu and restore i am not going to mess with it.
I guess what i am saying is ...someone who wasn't and isn't rooted may be able to help cause it has been forever for me with an unrooted phone.
YOu can xfer files onto your ext sd but ROOT exp requires root..so....you can try the stock file mgr.

Part 2:
How do you force applications to install to the greater 10GB of internal memory & not the measly 2Gb?

From what i'v heard the phone has to be rooted first, which hasn't been done yet.
I may be wrong though.
Surely not much of an issue with the larger space for apps anyway. Needs root, but once that's there, I'm sure A2SD will follow.

you can download apps from the web put them on your sd card and install them to your phone (they stay on sd card) with out root. go to the market download "appsinstaller"
go to Settings>Applications> Check Unknown sources and your ready to go.
you just put .apk files on your sd card and open the app. thats it
Yes you can install .apk files from SD and yes the .apk files stay on your SD card to install them another time,
but the apps are not running from SD card, nor are they installed on your SD card, they install onto your fone, and take up fone memory.
UNLESS you get root and run an Apps 2 SD type application.

This question isalso very important for me before Buying such an expensive phone!
Any good news or still impossible? Because i read everywhere then with a rooted Hero it is still not possible to install on SD cards.
Never impossible!! Its android not apple... > However, I reckon Aps 2 SD will be done on the hero at some point - rooting is already there.
Point of info - The Hero has around 150MB of space left for apps after a factory reset. The Magic has 295MB with the standard ROM - HUGE difference isn't it and I was gobsmacked, so maybe apps2SD is more needed than I thought on Hero....
That said, the hero ROM has a lot of stuff in the ROM that has to be added on Magic - twitter apps and widgets, Weather apps and widgets, sense UI, Loads of other pretty but big widgets built in. I may start to look at anything I can remove using Root Explorer - I never use the built in You Tube App, Footprints looks like it can go (10mb big I think..) and a few others...

Well Hero Has been Rooted Already and i mean its just a matter of time until developers gets started on their work.
Apps2sd has been done for both the G1 and the HTC magic and soon the Hero as it is 100% Possible.
btw. just like Dayzee said the phone already has a good amount of space for apps. or at least i dont see the need for it.

Cleaning up microSD card after restoring apps from TitaniumBackup

Hi guys,
I'd like to restore my apps and data from my current EVO using Titanium Backup (and probably MyBackup for text messages).
I'd like to clean up the card after I have restored what I want. The card has accumulated so much junk that I want to start fresh.
Do you guys have a best practice for doing this? I haven't seen a question/answer that specifically addresses this.
Thanks!
(I promise to make funnies in the future. )
Do you mean you want to get rid of all the backups that you have made with TB? If so just delete the TitaniumBackup folder on your sdcard.

I want to clean the card completely after I backup all the obvious things like pictures and videos. I want to wipe the entire card clean or remove everything that is just garbage. I'm not sure where TB stores the app data.
I can't help you and I expect you to get a satisfactory answer.
once you remove your card from your old evo. delete everything that you dont want. might want to keep Music and DCIM and the TitaniumBackup folder. everything else should be deleted. then restore.
the only excepting that is keeping any external downloads like Gameloft. besides the Evo LTE uses its own internal SD card first before ours, so most of the folders you have will not be used
after you back up your data from the card. Put it in your Evo 4g lte, settings, Storage..unmount the card..then the earse card will be highlighted..select..done

ASTRO deleting files? Or is it the phone?? Help!

I just got the new Evo LTE, and I had photos on phone storage/internal storage. Using ASTRO, I tried to move them into my new 16gb SD card (it was clean, fully formatted and everything). However, it stated that the "MOVE FAILED." and then the pictures were just gone! They didn't go back to the original location or anything, it seems as if they were deleted off the phone and SD card completely!
Was it the phone? Or was it ASTRO? Should I have not mingled with the internal storage and the external storage the way I did? Is there any way I can get those photos back (there were about 500 photos)??
Please help, I've grown desperate. I even went to the sprint store but no luck.
no comment on the error (although I've only moved that many photos back and forth between the phone and card while plugged into the computer), but I've used Hexamob Recovery PRO *ROOT* with great success to restore accidentally deleted photos (there's a free version too - I don't know what the difference is). You should also consider automatic photo backup through dropbox if/when you're able to recover them.
I have to root this phone to be able to use that? I wasn't planning on rooting it yet because I just got it.. Is there another way to recover them? I don't even know if it'll be found in the SD card or the internal memory..
I think all of the "undelete" apps (and there are a few of them out there) require root - sorry.

Transfer app data to extsdcard

Hey all
I got my S3 a couple of weeks back.. Used it amazing phone... Rooted it... Flashed slim bean... Flashed official Indian JB 4.1.1
And onto it right now
The thread heading!! With all this flashing the internal memory wipes out. And backing it up every time would be a hassle.
I have come from the galaxy ace where the app data would be stored in the ext sd card so there's no chance of loosing all the data... Like WhatsApp images preferences of apps... I actually lost my entire titanium backup
Had to restore manually
Any way I can transfer app data to extsdcard?
I have root and busybox.

Nope, can't move data from internal memory to extSD on S3 i9300 or i9305. It's a major flaw on Samsung's part imo.
There's an app developed by slig, it's called DirectoryBind that will allow you to move data across to your extSD. Works like a charm for 90% of games e.g. Gameloft where extra data can be over 500MB. I'm using DirectoryBind and it's works well, never had an issue, in fact only found one game out of thirty so far that I couldn't bind.
Note: if you use DirectoryBind you'll need to bind each app/game separately, you can't bind a folder like android/obb or android/data thinking it will automatically move the new installs across, this must be done per install.
If you just wanna move apk's across, then Link2SD will also work, but it won't transfer gama data.
Thanks for the reply
I'll try the directorybind
So now how do you manage flashing without losing data?
It's a big bummer :banghead:

I haven't flashed yet, only rooted. I am considering flashing Pandoriam...
So about not losing data... I use MyBackup Pro and would most likely use it when I flash a new rom on my i9305...
If you move data across to your extSD with DirectoryBind, you can backup your config. in DirectoryBind, flash without losing the extSD data and then re-install your APKs and restore your config. backup in DirectoryBind... then you're back where you left off when you start any of the APKs from your launcher, they'll pull the data from the DirectoryBind (extSD) straight away.
Not sure if this answers your question? Another alternative would be to backup the data you'd like to keep with Titanium Backup.

Make sure you set your backup location in Titanium Backup to the external SD (like "/mnt/extSdCard/Titaniumbackup/").
The same for CWM backup data : do it on external SD. If you create ,ZIP compressed images, you have to transfer this manually to ext SD.
Once in a while (before a ROM-flash) I launch FTP-Server on my SG3 and transfer all data to my PC through WIFI.
Wireless FTP is no hassle, no wires, and the fastest way to transfer lots of data from phone to PC. (I get 8500kB/s transfer rate).
Also, buy a 64 GB SD !
+1 pat 357, that's exactly how I backup my stuff .
Regarding the possibility of transferring the data to the micro sd card this is what I did after having tried apps2sd (doesn't work) & directory bind (imo was quiet unstable and tiresome).
Basically, you're going to make your phone believe that your sdcard is actually your internal & vice versa. Of course, using this tweak will really only make sense if you own either a 32 or higher micro sd card. I run it on the latest jelly bean 4.1.1 (rooted, obviously) samsung official stock rom and works like a charm coupled to a class 10 64GB sd card. I use the initial 16GB (now consiered as external sd for the phone) for music or any kind of media file I feel like having around.
What I did was a fresh install : wipe dalvik cache/factory reset...then flash Rom; Root&install CWM; flash kernel (I used SiyahKernel S3-v1.7 available here) through CWM; flash tweak (ExtSD2internalSD) through CWM. Ticks like a clock ever since then.
Hope this helped, if it did, enjoy and of course, thanks a million to mattiadg for this amazing tweak.

[Q] Insufficient Memory

When i first bought the GN2 I also bought a 64GB SD card so I could put all the apps I wanted on the phone not realizing (until it was too late!) that I can't get apps to load on the SD card. Now, every time I try installing another app (wireless tether or GL to SD so I CAN move some apps) I keep getting an error message "Insufficient Space- please uninstall some apps for more space." I have tried uninstalling everything I am not using on a daily basis. I have used Root Explorer to delete empty folders in internal memory. Now I cannot install anything, not even apps to help. What do I need to uninstall to make this thing work again???
Verizon GN2, SCH-I605, rooted, bootloader unlocked, stock rom.

You can use an SD swap script if you are rooted.
You cannot add apps to the SD. Either use the swap script or use titanium backup, make a backup, and uninstall app.
If you are having issues installing apps when there are memory, readd you google acct/play acct. That fixed it for me when i could install some play store apps.
