I think this might help if you want to root the phone.
After that you flash a recovery image (you can do this with the app ROM Manager if i'm not mistaken) and have fun.
How do I do recovery when I did it throw clockwork it was all black and I use root exploer and copy and paste

is it optimus one p500...this forum is meant for lg optimus one and optimus v..first thing you need to do is to root your phone ..after which you can download a recovery and flash any rom via recovery.

The u series are cdma phones so roms from p500 or V will not work I think.

I am afraid there's no mod for that phone. But the cwm recovery might work for u. Can u just discribe your phone like how many buttons, your baseband version,kernel.

that's not true you just need to use miks clockwork its in the forums dude you are always talking s#!t about peoples mods and updates just cause you had a bad experience doesn't mean its a bad mod look at the other forum post first please

this is optimus u , not p500. just in case u forgot to read the title??
P500 + us carrier + some mod = optimus u.
Cwm works on t so might work on u. If the button mapping is same like p500.
But what's the use we don't have a custom rom for it.

you can do this in the ClockWorkMod recovery or the custom recovery...

1. You don't need to be rooted to flash a rom or custom recovery.
2. Look for droidstyle's guide in the general section, it has all (and I mean ALL) the info you need.

not trying to knock your device but you should sell that boat anchor and get samsunged!!!
I would rather have a revolution for the sole fact of 4g...if he got a Samsung fascinate that would be like stepping down in my opinion only because your missing out on a whole nother world without 4g lol

XDA user amarullz brings up AROMA file manager which can be used in recovery mode. Now you have control over your files in recovery mode.

it works with amonra but, you gotta mount system and and data in recovery before using to get full root access in the app, but the app is amazing
This is really great when you are stuck on boot and you have no PC around..but anyone tested on p500?

I already said I did on Amonra... It works great, best solution to using adb
I use Amon Ra, can u show me how to install it?

It works, but there is an touchscreenbug for me.
Filemanager:
This doesn't create any shortcut in recovery. You need to flash the .ZIP to start the Filemanager.
But it's good, and I hope the toucscreenbug is gone in the ext version.

pick any of the stock ROMS in the dev forums.
extract boot.img from the zip
flash it in fastboot.
