XDA user amarullz brings up AROMA file manager which can be used in recovery mode. Now you have control over your files in recovery mode.

it works with amonra but, you gotta mount system and and data in recovery before using to get full root access in the app, but the app is amazing
This is really great when you are stuck on boot and you have no PC around..but anyone tested on p500?

I already said I did on Amonra... It works great, best solution to using adb
I use Amon Ra, can u show me how to install it?
Just use update.zip I think
I haven't use amonra in a long time so not that sure

It works, but there is an touchscreenbug for me.
Filemanager:
This doesn't create any shortcut in recovery. You need to flash the .ZIP to start the Filemanager.
But it's good, and I hope the toucscreenbug is gone in the ext version.

I don't think you can can you? But I wouldn't worry, it'll come in time. I have a lot of faith, especially with how fast everything else is happening. The phone has only been out 2 weeks today and we have perm-root and recovery both fully working. Now just to get some ROMs going and hopefully full dual-core support.
You should be able to do it through recovery in the form of an update.zip file.

That depends on the rom that's being flashed. Make a custom kernel in the form of a boot.img and I'll try to test it by recovery.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
With the htc unlocked method you might have to flash kernels by booting recovery from fastboot because it has the proper permissions

The kernels I have used have also included system material as well as the boot.img - will that limit what can be done?

Not necessarily. Many developers include a custom kernel with their roms.

you will have cwm recovery installed now...
and also cwm + superuser app in app drawer...
you can download ext4manager to use ext4 filesystem which will make your phone faster than stock one [don't expect WinXP to Win7 transition ]
now about flashing scripts, download them and flash from recovery.. to check whether working get some file explorer from market which enables root access [like root explorer] and navigate to /etc/init.d
this will have all your scripts

Try Rom Manager from Play Store.
You can boot in touch recovery by turning off your phone, then press and hold power button + home button + volume up
Wait until the recovery shows up and release your fingers.
Edit: Or just reflash cwm recovery using cwm apps if you want to use cwm apps for backup/restore

As I suggested earlier, use ROM Manager.
ROM manager is not the way I would suggest as it doesn't support many phones and is known to have caused a few bricks! Best bet Google! Find your recovery flash it thru the one u have if possible, or do it thru bootload USB

There's a chance of it going wrong and bricking your phone, a lot of people will tell you not to use ROM manager to flash anything, downloading stuff with it is fine, but flash through cwm.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Hi.
I'm looking for confirmation.
I downloaded the latest cwm touch recovery from their site. It's a img file.
I'd like to flash it from recovery. Is it safe to replace the img from the zip file from another recovery with the cwm one?
It should work, but is there anything I need to pay attention to?
Thanks!

safer to download a flashable zip version of the recovery

Touch version, in my opionion, is worse than non touch. Roms are for theming and fun, launchers as well.
Clockworkmod and RECOVERY states are for serious stuff, a wrong touch and u can damage your phone. Much better to have to press the buttons...

But yeah try to flash. The worst is you wont be able to flash it or ur clockworkmod will stop working. In that case get to pc and reflash older clockwork mod by following a safe guide....
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Used TWRP or CWM Touch on thousands of flashed never a problem.
Any miss hit is not going to damage your phone and i find with TRWP you are less likely to miss the correct sequence as you always hit the right buttons .

Just to answer to the original question, yes it should be safe. I have done so many times with twrp and it has always worked.

Well, you are posting this in the development section when it should be in the Q&A section.
However, I recommend using 4ext. It's just better.
Try 4 ext and have a moderator move this thread to the appropriate section please.

No, that's not what I meant. 4ext is a recovery.
Basically, just download the 4ext app, or use hasoon2000's toolkit to flash 4ext.
http://4ext.net/
Let it install 4ext on your amaze if you have a ROM and rooted on it.
Once you can boot into 4ext recovery, go to options (or tools, don't quite remember), and turn on SMARTFLASH.
Then you can format your internal SD (BACKUP YOUR DATA ON YOUR PC FIRST!!!).
ROMS should flash now since Smartflash is a workaround for S-ON users who want to flash custom Roms.
If this helps press thanks.
