Photon gsm? - Motorola Photon 4G

So I haven't been on xda for a while because my photon is pretty happy just being rooted... but I've come back and was wondering if they ever got the usa gsm networks thing figured out.
I see the cm9 thread says gsm, but i'm sure it is probably referring to global gsm.
I don't have a lot of computer access so my search capability is limited.
Thanks

[Q] How to unlock the SIM

Dear All,
May I use of foreign SIM card (Taiwan) in HTC Thunderbolt? How to do that?
Thanks in advance.
Black
I'm pretty sure its for lte services only
I may be wrong but we won't have a answer till its out
Besides it doesn't have the necessary radios for a gsm network

No you can not.
So dejected........
Thank you all....^_^
I'd really like it to be true that LTE phones are automatically global and have been searching for the answer. Sadly that's not the case but there is some hope because the rest of the world will eventually use the LTE tech for their 4g as well. It's not yet known which form of multiplexing they'll use(frequency division or time division) but there's a chance that everyone will use the same in the future so don't lose all hope.
In theory. See my other thread I'm about to post.
According to the training only 4g Lte Verizon cards are compatible. If you have a 4g modem with sim you can use that or another 4g phone but other regions/companies are not compatible out of the box.

CDMA or GSM

I'm switching to Sprint soon and picking up the Evo 3D. I was going through the forums and I saw that there is a section for GSM Android Development and CDMA Android Development. What is the difference between the two?

I think the difference is the network. If you're going to Sprint then you should reference the CDMA thread.

Sprint and Verizon use CDMA. Tmo and ATT use GSM.
For the EVO 3D GSM, those are mainly all international carriers in Canada, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia, etc.

Oh okay. Thanks a lot

Another big difference between the two are that the roms have completely rom components and radios. The CDMA version is strapped with WiMax 4g and the GSM version as LTE which is compatible with AT&T an T-Mobile

Evo3d gsm vs CDMA poll which do you have

I was getting bored so why not a poll ?
Wow lol jk I got a sprint version (the original)lol
GSM here. Got mine from an eBay seller who imported it from Taiwan. Works fine on Telstra in Australia.

GSM, It is.
GSM over here also!

Wow where is all the CDMA people at ?
The poll has really shocked me . I thought Cdma would be much much more but apparently not. now may be more devs will come to the gsm android development side .
P.s. based on the poll at the writing of this post
i would go with cdma...gsm companies here are no good..prices suck
CDMA here in the US
GSM here in OZ. I did hear a comercial on the radio saying Telstra is starting 4G roll-out, so maybe soon.
I'm actually kinda surprised at how many have the GSM version. For all that, why not just wait a few extra weeks and get the GNex which just released in Europe.
it seems that no CDMA users here cuz they are bussy rooting and s-off ing and trying new ROMs not like us GSM users we are just jumping around topics looking for something fitting our version and now we lost hope of devlopment section and we are looking for MODS in general section
CDMA here... Sprint
Bump... Bump ....
Cdma here. Sprint service sucks balls

[Q] Can this phone work with WCDMA, how to do this?

I love rezound very much, but you won't get a phone that you can not call and using internet. I'm with Vodafone AU, and the phone works for Verizon with LTE 4G.
Are there anyway to make it work with WCDMA? Any way to unlock or hack it?
Big thanks! Please help me become one of Rezounders in the future!
I want to help you ,but I dont know how to do ...

I'm not an expert or a dev, but I know for sure that we can't do much at all in the way of hacking until s-off is achieved. Furthermore, I could be wrong but I don't think the rezound supports wcdma.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
The Rezound only operates on the CDMA2000 and LTE standards on top of operating only at specific bands.
Despite the similar name, WCDMA is not the same as "CDMA" - it is a GSM variant and is therefore not compatible with the Rezound, as the Rezound does not support nor contain a radio for that standard.
so then what is the diff between;
lte/voice
lte global
lte/cdma(auto)
I'm in a spot where Verizon says isn't the best coverage; although I'm constantly between 2-3 lte bars. is one superior than others

No, this phone can not be used as a world phone. You will be unable to use it on either CDMA or LTE. Not to mention, you have to have a Verizon LTE SIM to program the phone.
Next time, search! The answers to all these simple questions are in the forum.

DNA......Deluxe......same?

I live in Oklahoma where the only game in "town" is a small local cell pro user. They have the worst phone selection in the history of mankind....really..lol. I moved here a while ago and have been with Sprint so far but I roam out here at my house so it is finally time to make the switch. The cell provider is now offering the HTC deluxe which I understand is a DNA without the Verizon moniker. Does anyone know of development for this phone or can I use the dev work for the DNA? Thanx for the help......and right now I'm on meanbean with my EVO 4g LTE so I'm no newbie to the world of rooting and roms.

Basically you have to look into the htc deluxe for Radios/Ril cdma/ lte/gsm, then kernel, and software. Provider must have cdma in order to be porter to from DNA ....look like the HTC Butterfly is the match
Here more Info http://androidforums.com/droid-dna-all-things-root/728576-htc-deluxe-root.html
Yes, the carrier is cdma. They used to be in bed with sprint. Last march they split the sheets and climbed in bed with Verizon. I would go with Verizon but they do not have any native infrastructure here so I cannot even sign up with them....like I said, the only game in...uh.....town. the town I live in has al of 250 people and the closest city is only 50k.....nice to live out in the country but it does have its drawbacks.
And Thankyou for the link.....

Fellow Okie, I'm in OKC. Couldn't you drive into Enid and hook up with a Verizon store? Coverage looks good in your area. In any event, your local pro company is bouncing off of somebody's towers. I'd think that if you can find out who has the best towers in your neck of the woods, you could go into the nearest big city and get on their system.
Just a thought - You're living that dream, so you would know better. Good luck!
I meant to say provider, not pro company....lol. and yes, the only towers out here are owned by Pioneer. Sprint roams on them and Verizon uses them as an extended network. Att and tmo also have some stuff here but the the speeds are so slow. I cant sign up with Verizon because there is no Verizon owned towers here. I can't get Sprint until I'm in Enid, though they have their LTE up and running there....very vast when in town but can't even make a phone call when I'm at my house in Ringwood. So Pioneer is the only game here. Just been waiting for them to have a decent phone to make the switch. I hope the DNA development is compatible with this regional carrier version. I have been rooting and playing with different roms for years, will be unhappy if I will no longer be able to play with my phone.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Also, as of March 2012, Pioneer and Sprint went separate ways. Everything north of I40 and west of I35 is dead to sprint now. Been roaming ever since. Now Verizon uses Pioneers stuff for their extended network. By virtue of my address, I am unable to sign on with any carrier except Pioneer......so much for the American ideal of no monopolies...lol

I have a DLX with SU. The bootloader can be unlocked at htcdev. I tried to fastboot TWRP using the butterfly 920e version of TWRP, which did not work. So i tried the DNA version of TWRP and it worked.. Then i just flashed the su_busybox file and I'm rooted. I'm fairly sure the revone method will get you S OFF,, I haven't done it yet,, because the 4.2 software update is just around the corner. But in my opinon,, HTC DLX users should follow DNA methods, other than getting superCID. Which you don't need to do.
