Hello everyone. I am greatful for all of you great devs and people here on xda.
I see all of the great theams here and roms and was wondering if someone would be kind enough to build a Zelda theme.
A great idea I have for the boot screen would be the triforce intro from link to the past.
Also with all the items in zelda I imagine the notification bar could be sweetly tricked out as well.
I can see a master piece in my head as I type but wish I had the know how to do the work.
Imagine if the andriod boot notification were a image of link holding up the triforce and if you need to charge the battery the notification will show the Zelda II end game screen with gannon laughiing at you.
Any one else willing to collaberate over a zelda theme?
So is any one interested in this at all? Or could one point me to a touch wiz zelda theme?
+1 this sounds awesome lol

Omg if there was a zelda twilight princess theme, I would be SOLD! lol
The sword or the shield should be the battery!
Man xda is whacky today. Would not let me reply on my own post?!? Well that's squared so on to the subject.
I think the Master Sword would rock as the Battery. While charging it could look as it would in link to the past as you hold down attack.
And we could use the game over song from the first zelda as the boot down sound. I can work on making some hi-res back rounds from all zelda games and rar it into a wallpaper pack if people would dig it. I have an insane amount of zelda pics to work with.
This is something I planned on doing over the summer when I have more free time for myself but maybe I could get to it earlier.
Heart container battery icon
Zelda system sounds
Swords signal strength (oot swords) ect

That sounds sweet.
I have done some more planning for it and will have to look at some icons, and Looking at my schedule I will not get to this for another few weeks. However if some people have icon suggestions feel free to post them
Zelda
I would like one too

If you can make a boot animation from the first 12 or 13 seconds of this, well, I will love you long time...
For what it's worth... The original Legend of Zelda was, and always will be, my favorite video game of all time.

Search in the G1 or general Android Theme forums here. I contribited to one a while back that you might be able to re-use some graphics and such from. It was in Metamorph format, so you can see just what was changed. You will need to update it to match the froyo style, but it might be a good start. I thought about porting it a while back, but there didn't seem to be a lot of interest. I'm too busy with other projects to do it right now, but I would like to see a good Zelda theme available.
Now thats what I am talkin bout

basically with all the kernels out there it would basically just be a complete theming work with small edits to add some cool names s, it wouldnt be that hard honestly just takes some time
just so everyone knows I will be making the theme for CM7
Hey guys,
I am posting this link to this sweet boot animation that usmc7356 created. The problem is that he is not able to get it running on the XOOM. Any help is appreciated. Here is the link the XOOM forums:
"My First XOOM Boot Animation"
name it bootanimation.zip and place it in the system/media folder. should run fine
edit: no luck. after extracting the zip, i noticed another the first file is named bootanimation as well. extracted those contents and rezipped them/named it bootanimation.zip. therefore once you open the bootanimation, it goes straight into the desc and the part0 folder. still no luck. ill dig around and see whats going on. no promises as i am no good at coding but we'll figure it out. stock boot ani sucks lol.
brain fart and i deleted the old boot ani. can someone post this please? thanks!

No dice pimp. I even tried just replacing pngs. Your desc file is right on far as I can tell. Idk man, may be the file size. I compressed the images as much as I could w/o shrinking the img size, including the zip itself. No dice there either.

This won't even work w/ the OC kernel. The person who made this has the OC kernel and it is not working on his either. It is weird as the bootanimation file is exactly the same as his. The file google put on there is nothing special.

@bigrushdog. The person who made this also found a file in system/bin that is a bootanimation shell file. I opened it and it is all a garbelled mess. I wonder if this might be what is controlling the boot animation file. Since I don't have root access I couldn't open it in text editor but that probably wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
guys, custom boot animation works just fine. all you had to do was change the root of zip from /bootanimation to /part0 and desc. the content should be in root, not in another folder. Posting link in a sec.
Here ya go, courtesy of bishop72
btw, this bootanimation is wicked!
Awesome!!! Now how do we install this
I just dragged and dropped it into the system/media folder . It does work (renamed old one).
i popped the bad boy into Data/local with root explorer and it works just fine
Any chance someone could upload a video of this in action?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBX2OY2wT_E quick video i did from my DX.
That looks awesome! But does it always take over 30 s to boot??? I haven't played with my Xoom a lot yet so I can't remember
Looks great, but I have a suggestion.
Make the data to the right load slower, and once it gets to the Invidia logo, let it sit (maybe with a "Starting Android" notification flashing somewhere) until the XOOM fully boots. It looks odd as a loop.
Otherwise, it's really well done.
It's only 512 x 256 pixels, very fuzzy. Am I missing something?
very nice man. hmmmm. can the xoom play sound during but up??

hi
im just wondering if anyone does full themes like on most the other phone threads. i can only really see status bar themes? or is someone in the making of a full theme. i didnt think it would be any different to theme the dell streak to any other phone. i personally cant get my head round editting png.9 files and xml hence i cant do it myself but surely someone here knows how to edit them and can start producing themes? or is there another site with a theme collection cause xda in general seems to lack choice in anything dell streak related or maybe i was just spoilt with options on the desire hd and galaxy s lol also the status bar doesnt have toggles for wifi and so on? is there a mod for that?

How is this different from loading a launcher on your Streak and then installing a theme that was created for the launcher? I would think it is the same, maybe I am pointing in the wrong direction.
Are the themes over at the Galaxy S forum to be used without a launcher?

we talking about volume pop up the menu pop up the shut down pop up the settings menu and all the volume and display pop ups and tick boxes, the calculator the calendar the contacts the dialer the status bar, every part of the phone visually is themed. what i call proper theme full theme
i tried theming before when i had the galaxy s. just couldnt get my head round learning xml and png.9 files. so instead i used to take parts of peoples themes and put them into the framework and install it so it was how i liked. but thats when u have loads of themes to play with, i dont have the ability to produce a theme or port it
see im wondering, would it be possible to copy all the png and png.9 files from a galaxy s framework res and paste it into the streak and it work? aswell as xml?
Unfortunately the streak wasn't advertised by dell that well so the userbase and developers are lacking. The galaxy on the otherhand is everywhere.

yer very true. being a previous user i went on there an made a question post under themes to ask themers to port them to the streak. one dev has already said he will have a look and give it a try. the galaxy s has a great community and the people are very helpful so fingers crossed someone does it for us and just everybody make sure you donate cause we lack the devs so if we can get devs from other phone to sort us out we need to give em a reason to keep coming back
ok people i have a couple of galaxy s themers looking into porting their themes to the dell streak based on the 1.9 rom. so if they pull it off and post them in the theme section for us then be sure to donate to them for their time and effort for a device they dont even own
That would really be cool.
I would donate to them

good work mate. the black android theme from galaxy s is in the process now, its the best one to start off with. its neutral so any wallpapaer and stuff with go with it and it will get rid of any of the nasty grey pop ups from menu and stuff. if the process goes well then donating will be the key for future ports. we may have the black android port by the weekend so ill keep everyone posted. just anyone reading this, please show interest, please donate to the themer. i done the leg work to get this so make it worth while
If galaxy s i a mdpi phone you can open its faramework.apk and extrakt the drawable-mdpi folder and past it in the stresks framework.apk. I have done it with a theme form desire hd, but it is a hdpi phone so it needs to be modifed

You can flash with streakmod, you will have better results with clockworkmod. I have seen many times where streakmod did nothing and clockwork always worked.

is there any reason why we should have one or the other, i mean clockworkmod will flash the themes but is there something streakmod does what clockworkmod dont? also i tried clockworkmod and it didnt work. nothing i pressed in menu worked and my button lights where flashing like hell
lol, for the life of me I cannot recall which on I have loaded. I think it is Streakmod.
I think clockwork will load most of the stuff from the kitchen with out issue. It will backup your device but you are not able to perform a restore.

Finally someone working/pushing the Streak community towards custom themes. Can't wait to see where this goes.
couple questions though...
I am currently using the official Android 2.2 from AT&T.. I've been to scared to use any of the mods or anything whether with DJ Steve or not. (prolly cause I paid 300 for this phone lol)
What would I have to do to get themes on my streak once they start coming out?
Would I have to root it, to flash the theme on it?
I haven't flashed or done anything in a while.... I used to do it with my old phone, back when I used the HTC Fuze... Then I got a Blackberry Bold and left it stock and now am on the Streak so I haven't done anything like custom mods or anything in a long time and don't remember anything about..
I am really interested and if someone could help me that would be great ... email me at [email protected]
How to make a boot animation/boot image? Like replace the LG logo, and the Rom animation. A point to a guide or tut would be appreciated. Thank you
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
To change the lg stuff is going to be pretty tough i link. Thats not part of the rom and might have to be done with like cdma tools or something.
But changing the goot animation is easy, just download the animation you want (make sure the resolution on its not to big) and paste it in the system/media folder on your phone with root explorer or something.
here is a link to the guide cyanogenmod wiki points to.
good luck with your project!

Even easier to place it to /data/local without any root required.
I wonder about this too. The bootanimation.zip is just that, the boot animation and doesn't even require root access to change. however, the manufacturer animation that comes before it I would like to change. I am running CM7 and would like to change the static red LG logo for the 'electron beam' animated one used in virtually every other rom, including the stock firmware. Wonder if anyone could just make a flashable zip to do this. I'm looking at wiki article and while I feel confident I could do it, it looks like a brick waiting to happen!
Thanks guys I got a new boot another and just replaced the obedience. Data /local and it plays just fine:3
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
the ROM animation is easy you can either get a existing animation zip and rename and replace the bootanimation.zip with root explorer depending on where it is stored in your ROM if you want to make your own the animation is not a video it is a series of png files so you can make one yourself im not sure about the order just take a existing bootanimation.zip and unzip it and take a look
