I don't know what happened. I just installed a new SD card in my rezound. (copied everything from old SD to pc, then installed new SD, and copied everything over to new SD) and now i don't have any mobile data / 3g has an x near the signal bars. I did install CleanROM 1.7 a week ago, but i don't think that has anything to do with it. I don't know whats wrong. I even put the old SD back in and I still have no mobile data / 3g. I don't know what the problem could be. This is the new SD card i got - A-Data USA 32 GB Micro SDHC Class 10 Flash Card with SD Adaptor. If someone could help me that would be great. Thanks

Do you have the battery cover on? That's where all the antennas are. No cover=no data.
cover is on. so idk what else it could be

Check your settings. I used to have my LTE turn itself off when I was on stock. Happened a few times, although I still had 3g, but can't hurt to check through them all. Other than that I don't know.
The preferred network type was switched to WCMA for some reason, I have LTE Switch and i switched it back to CDMA. Mobile data 3g is working again.

Hi all, newbie to android. Got a Galaxy SII and everything worked ok including WIFI, found the wifi instantly and connected to it instantly...until...i insert the sim card.
My modem is Billion 7800N, works great with my computer and the new phone before i insert the sim card.
[Update:] Changed the modem to my old Netgear DG834G. Same thing.
after i insert the sim card, 3G works but my network just became "Not in range". i can still see other networks from my neighbours.
restart, same.
shut down and take the sim card out, start, still Not in range.
Reset and wipe everything, without sim card, it found the network and connected and worked great again.
Insert the sim card again and my network not in range again........
Anyone came across this? my guess would be it's the modem but without the sim card everything is fine. but with the sim card i can only see other people's network but not mine...
Any idea?
Thanks!
No, I can access WiFi very well with SIM card inserted, same router as yours. And I don't think a SIM card has anything to do with WiFi.

change the wireless password setting to WEP2 AES and all good now...
thanks
Glad to hear that, though mine works without security.
Regards.
Hey peeps, i have a problem with an HTC Amaze in here thats not recognizing the sim card. It shows the imei and all that. Radio seems to be fine but then again when it turns on it will not recognize the tmo or any other sim card. Its running 4.0.3 ICS but thats about all i know. It had never been open before i did. Inside everything looks ok. But i know that doesnt mean everything is ok. Could it be the sim card holder? I have already checked the pins that make contact with the sim card and they look fine. Hardware? Software? Any advice?

I only say this because i made the mistake of putting the sim card upside down. All my previous phones were the opposite. lol
Lol! very funny story but this is not the case ha ha... So any other advice will be appreciated. If i find out ill let the forum know what i did...
That happened to my first Amaze. It fixed itself the next day, but another problem popped up. Unfortunately, I had to trade it in and get a new one. Hopefully, everything will work out for you.
Had to use a new sim card when I got the Amaze a couple of weeks ago. It wouldn't recognize the card I been using for for year.

What sim card are you using? Maybe the card is incompatible. Any T mobile store should new able to help you with that.

Okay I got this i717 and could not figure out what's wrong with the sim card slot. I've never posted on a forum before but I'm stuck.
Things I've tried
-went back to gingerbread from ics
- bought a new sim card slot board and put it in and still the same problem(insert sim)
- cleared cache from clockwork and titanium
- flashed different radios and modems
- tried different ROMs
I know longer know what to try, I also would like to note that it has an imei and baseband so its nothing to do with efs. It just won't read sim cards and I know its not the hardware because the micro sim words and its on the same board. Please help me out. I'm using an old slide phone now.

I know you say its not the hardware, but that's sure what it sounds like.
When you say micro sim, have you tried a regular sim in the slot?
I made a typo' "micro sim" was suppose to be "micro SD card", and I know it sounds like the hardware but I was so sure that when I replaced the sim and micro SD board it would work because everything on the phone works fine except for the sim, I've read around and the only solution I'm seeing is to send it in but that's not an option for me. And yea I just have a normal sim card from at&t that supports hspa

The only thing you can try short of replacing the motherboard is to take your work apart and double-clean the contacts between the motherboard and sim/SD cards board.
Did it ever read sim cards or did you buy it this way? Did you use Odin to reinstall the factory Gingerbread ROM?
I'll try what rangercaptain said but yes it did read my sim card when I bought it and then every now and then would randomly say insert sim and normally a reboot would fix it but it finally just cut out completely and that's when I bought the new board but it still said the same thing

So something strange is going on with my G3.
I had it in my back pocket today, slipped on something, and landed right on it. Screen was fine and everything seemed ok. It flashed a "unable to read memory card" error but I didn't pay any attention to it. Left my house a few hours later and I noticed when I disconnected from WiFi that it was only showing 3G. I have strong 4G coverage where I live so it isn't a signal problem. I tried numerous things but I can't get 4G to come up. To test the sim, I put the sim into my old Galaxy S3 and booted it up. LTE comes in just fine on that. Slip it back into the G3 and nothing above 3G.
Anyone had this happen? Is it something internally on the phone? Sim?
FYI.....the SD card is bad. Must have messed it up when I landed on it. I can't get either phone to read it and when I popped it into my computer it says it needs to be formatted but will only give me the option to format a 30 MB card (it's 64 GB).

i would flash stock to verify something in the software didnt get corrupt, but it you hit it hard enough to break the sd card, im betting you damaged the hardware for lte.

Absolutely agree with @bweN diorD.
FYI, concerning the MicroSD card, don't give up on it yet. Try USBit, a free tool. It has a built-in function to try to "reset" a flash device by hard writing a few key spots on the storage. It's only resurrected a previously dead flash device once for me, but worth a try. USBit runs on Windows, by the way.
You can also try the free Recuva to try to recover any files you might want to try to get back.

Tried it. Nothing. There are no visible cracks on it. I put in an RMA request to SanDisk. Maybe I can send it in and they can recover it. Or at least tell me if it's salvageable.

Oh well, sorry to hear that. I doubt if SanDisk would even attempt to recover it unless you pay them a lot of money. Professional file recovery is expensive. They'll probably just ship you a new one to replace the old one.
Hi all, a couple random questions.
I spent the extra $30 on the LTE version on the off chance it would work with my Google Fi data only sim.
question is, i don't seem to have a sim slot, this looks like a micro sd slot to me. (the spot where a sim would go doesnt have a cut-out)
Am i missing something, or did i get the wifi only version?
Part B: If this does happen to be a wifi only version, it is even worth it to me to try to get them to exchange it, would it even have worked with Project Fi?
The LTE version has a different tray for sure - the sim card goes adjacent to the SD card, basically where that extra black area is. No idea about project FI, but my LTE tablet works in Toronto Canada on LTE pretty well.
Only the LTE Version has GPS. So try to use Google Maps
Hi!
Got my LTE version today and it sure looks different. I also had a sticker behind where it shows you, how to put micro sd AND sim-card into it.
Funny thing is, I even got a SIM card from China
