Phone locked but screen turning on - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

For some reason this just started happening like this hour.
My note is rooted but that's it. Was using golocker for a couple days and just turned it off to run stock lock screen. For some reason now when my phone is locked and the screen goes black it keeps waking up like every minute and then going dark again. Over and over again. I will uninstall go lock but it doesn't seem logical to me that this would he the cause since it is disabled. I've checked all of my display and power settings and don't see anything out of the ordinary there.

Found another thread about this. And it seems my problem could be that I have been charging the note via 3rd party USB wire with my work PC. So i will go home soon and try it with the Samsung wall charger and hope that is the reason. Btw. I'm on DaG's stock kernel. Not OC.
Thanks.

[Q] Please help, phone locking up

I have a new (one week old) Vibrant. I haven't done any mods, or rooted or anything like that. My GPS sucks (as most do), so I changed some settings under LBSTestMode. Now my phone is really screwed up. I don't know why, but it randomly turns itself off, locks up when running ANY app, and if I allow the screen to sleep, I can't get it to turn back on. My battery was almost completely dead, so I plugged in, and now I see the "Swipe to Unlock" screen, but I can't swipe it or do anything at all.
I've done a couple of battery pulls but no change. I'm at a complete loss for what to do. I'm sure it's something silly I'm missing, but I'm brand new to Android and freaking out.
Can anyone help a stressed-out noob?
Try odin to stock . Can you get to download mode? Pull battery plug in usb hold volume up and down and put the battery . Should see android with a broom and should be yellow

Can I do all of that with a (basically) dead battery? Or should I charge first? I tried plugging in to charge but it wasn't charging. So I pulled the battery, then plugged in the phone without turning it on to see if it would charge.
Try the method i post but make sure you have the drivers installed on your oc

Screen turning on when charged.

Sorry if this has already been answered having a nightmare with search on Tapatalk.
Is there any way to stop the screen from turning on when phone charged? I often leave phone charging overnight and worry the screen might burn out because of this.
Thanks

Anyone? Or is this just something one should not worry about?
It times out after a couple of minutes or so. I charge my phone most nights but when I wake the screen is always off.
I have the same problem! Bugs the hell out of me when I wake up my phone screen is turned on and on my lockscreeb

Don't have this problem either, my phone's locked again after the notification for full charge...
What kind of rom do you have? (it's written "galaxy S in your sign)
Are you using an app for lockscreen?
Just the standard Sammy one. And it never turns off automatically.
So maybe you could install a lockscreen app from the market and see if it solve your problem.

Bricked?

Anyone else run into this issue? Worst case if it comes down to it, think they will give me a new Photon?
Hey, I ran into this.. https ://supportforums.motorola.com/message/400251[/url]
It is sort of similar to what happened in your case. Sorry I can't be of much help.
I had the same thing happen when I flashed the 198_7 update in RSD. I pulled the battery and let it sit for a minute. Then I restarted in recovery mode (Hold Volume down +Power, press volume down until you see "Boot Android (No BP)" and then press Volume Up. You should see the message "Cold-Booting Linux" and hopefully the phone will restart. Not sure what caused the error or if this was what even fixed it but I've had no issued since. Let us know if this works, I for one would like to know if this is a real fix or mine just coincidentally worked afterwards.
EDIT: I just tried the "Cold-Boot" again and after it restarted I had no CDMA service, don't worry a quick reboot restores connections. So it seems that this option may actually bypass the modem power up which is probably why it worked. I'm still still not sure what the "no BP" stands for though, anyone?
Was using RSD to manually install 198_6 and now the phone won't turn on unless plugged into a wall charger and then it displays "modem will not power up (2)". Anyone able to help save my butt?

Was a no go. Couldn't get into recovery. Took it to sprint and supposedly the battery is dead as well. Biggest concern is them digging for any messing around. Was able to factory reset and lock the bootloader so they shouldn't be able to call shenanigans. My evo shift is now my clock and useful as long as there is wifi lol

I saw that thing once, but it was normally - returned the battery and went to recovery normally.
Sprint said they couldnt do anything, looks like its Asurion time :\
Started messing with the phone while waiting on asurion and i can get it to get into fastboot, etc options. It will wait a while but still goes back to the modem will not power up and battery is too low to flash :/ any suggestions on how to maybe charge the battery i know sprint is saying the battery failed but that seems unlikely

Also seems like the phone knows when it is plugged into an outlet vs my computer. When the phone is connected to my computer it turns the led white, while the outlet turns the led green then the screen turns on. If i could get the screen on while plugged into my computer i could maybe get my phone back in working order

Joker had a little trick but you had to hack up a USB cable to get it to work. You might ask him. But that seemed to charge.
I just went ahead and called asurion, photon should be here tomorrow afternoon. Still cant figure out why the phone bricked. Oh well :/

What were you doing when it happened?
Sent from my Photon via XDA
Rsd back to stock to take my phone in for rebooting and screen of death issues lol
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Did you have it fully charged?
I believe it was lower than normal when i use rsd, that may have been why
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
That is probably true.
Sent from my Photon via XDA
Well despite my user error i am so happy to be back with a photon. This one seems to be bug free as well. The screen if death and reboots definitely must have been hardware related. This one also does not seen to heat up as bad either. This thread can be closed.

Sounds like a bad battery. I have 2 vibrants and 5 batteries 1 of which causes the phones to act just like that.

I replaced the battery with oem still doing it. Thx for the help though

I've been having a similar issue with my Vibrant only it rarely lasts 2 minutes. It sometimes seems software related, but mostly appears to be a hardware issue. I've tried 2 different batteries with no change. It will not even stay on if plugged into a charger unless it is in download mode (luckily it runs fine in download mode and most of the time in recovery mode). I've tried ODINing back to stock and various other tricks (different bootloader, ROMs, etc.) but nothing seems to work. It seems to run best right after an ODIN to stock (lasts maybe 10-15 minutes) but it eventually turns off (doesn't shut down, it just goes instantly black). After it shuts off it usually won't turn back on until I pull the battery for a while. I've basically given up on that Vibrant--but I just bought 2 more used Vibrants for me and the wife.

Anyone else having this issue? TMO w/root

So, for summer reason my phone has locked up a few times now. I wake up in the morning at like 10 but my phone says 3am. I try to go to home screen but its frozen. I reboot and when its done rebooting, its still frozen. I can't do anything. I've nandroided back to stock w/root and it works OK. But sometimes it locks or freezes again. It's becoming frustrating.

About the subject line - I'd briefly describe the actual issue, like 'Phone is frozen after hours of standby'.
About the issue - I haven't had the issue you're describing, but almost every morning I have to check if the phone actually boots upon powering up, because sometimes it just stays on either LG logo or Tmobile logo, but does not boot. In case it does not boot, I hold the Down + Power for a few seconds, it reboots and goes fine afterwards. At first I thought it has to do with the battery getting too warm for its liking, but I shut the phone off for the night.
Currently root methods are for the t-mobile model v10. Are you by chance att/version?
No, hence the reason I put TMO in the subject line

Are you wirelessly charging?
I am using a h901HK on tmobile, rooted, so far so good.

I used to have an issue with notifications and led locking up the G4.
We dont have LED, but might it have something to do with notifications?
If you reset your phone and leave it without syncing / restoring anything, see if it still locks up?
