So, for summer reason my phone has locked up a few times now. I wake up in the morning at like 10 but my phone says 3am. I try to go to home screen but its frozen. I reboot and when its done rebooting, its still frozen. I can't do anything. I've nandroided back to stock w/root and it works OK. But sometimes it locks or freezes again. It's becoming frustrating.

About the subject line - I'd briefly describe the actual issue, like 'Phone is frozen after hours of standby'.
About the issue - I haven't had the issue you're describing, but almost every morning I have to check if the phone actually boots upon powering up, because sometimes it just stays on either LG logo or Tmobile logo, but does not boot. In case it does not boot, I hold the Down + Power for a few seconds, it reboots and goes fine afterwards. At first I thought it has to do with the battery getting too warm for its liking, but I shut the phone off for the night.
Currently root methods are for the t-mobile model v10. Are you by chance att/version?
No, hence the reason I put TMO in the subject line

Are you wirelessly charging?
I am using a h901HK on tmobile, rooted, so far so good.

I used to have an issue with notifications and led locking up the G4.
We dont have LED, but might it have something to do with notifications?
If you reset your phone and leave it without syncing / restoring anything, see if it still locks up?

Anyone getting several random reboots a day from their Evo3D? I am having that issue including the screen not turning on and then rebooting.
Nope. Turn off Fastboot. Turn off the phone. Hold Volume down + Power. Reset.
When I hold the power and volume down do I do a factory reset from Hboot?
Still getting random reboots after turning off fastboot in settings.

weird, no problems here.
I got a similar problem here except mines happens whenever I try to run a couple applications at the same time.
mine was doing it, it would lock up too and have to pull the battery to reset it
I returned the phone after all the TS'ing failed, and my 2nd one's not doing it
Yep. Mine just did 5 reboots in a row. No joke. All I did was try to go into Skins. That's when it completely froze up, restarted and it won't stop. I just bought the thing not more than 3 hours ago. I can't figure out what the problem is. It sometimes goes past the boot screen but after the HTC Splash screen the screen goes black with nothing but the Hot buttons at the bottom on.

Perform a Factory Reset. That will likely solve the issue. You can search the forum or google the instructions.

Can I get into recovery if I'm not rooted? The phone goes passed the splash screen then goes blank.
Edit. I didn't know hboot had that option. I'm trying it now. Thanks.

This may or may not work, but pull the data off your sd card if you have any, if not, don't worry about it. Pull it from the phone, format it on your computer (just a quick format should work) put it back in your phone then perform another factory reset. See if that helps. My first one reboot randomly several times when I first got it and that seemed to help for a while. If it happens again, call Sprint and tell them what's happening and have them send you another one. I had to do that. I have 35 days before I have to send my old one back, that gives me plenty of time to play with the new one and see if I can recreate the issue. So far...it's working perfectly. This is an awesome phone, but getting new technology when it first comes out, I expect bugs.

I had the same problem with one of my 3Ds. I took it back and they exchanged it no problem.
Took mine to the store and they gave me a brand new one since it was in the 30 Days. This one works perfectly
....i'm on my third one now, sprint told me this was the last time they will replace it...im having the same issue....black screen, low reception, restart, and battery life sucks on this one the other ones were perfect on battery life....hope they fix it.
i have the issues for several days. fixed without hard reset
1) uninstall all 3rd party app killer. ATM, ATK, juicy defender
2) use evo task manager to kill apps when memory below 100m
3) restart the phone, and turn off the phone again.
4) if your phone restart within 20sec, then your phone is in good condition
the reboot can be caused by
1) 3rd party app killer
2) low memory or extreme CPU usuage(3d camera and music play and lot of background app sametime)
3) hot battery
4) bad cache and improper restart. if reboot once, it will continue reboot, the memory seems have bad cache, you need to manualy turn if off safely and restart again.
i cannot be more satisified with the battery. don't use any atm atk or juicy defender, they are battery killer.
decrease display brightness, disable GPS.
i play online stream music for 8hrs on wifi and still have 40% battery left. no other phone can do this.
Happened to me as well, after 5 random reboots within the first 4 hours of having the phone and then not being able to boot it up at all I returned it and got a new one, fine so far only 1 random reboot in 3 days.
My reboots are very different and never when I'm using the phone but rather when I try to use the phone. With my phone obviously being on, I would press the power button but the screen would stay black. I would press it again and still nothing, then immediately after the screen would flash the lockscreen and then go black and immediately after that it reboots to the HTC screen. This happens everyday, sometimes 4-5 times a day. Anybody else seeing this exact behavior?
My friend and I both have Rezounds. I have yet to get the update, he had Scott's ICS ROM on his. The update forced itself onto his phone and bricked it. When he went to the store, the reps told him the update seems to be doing this to alot of people (rep said they saw 10 of them today!). Anyone else have the OTA brick a ROM's phone or even stock?

No, but I am sure if you have a custom recovery on your phone with a custom rom an official update sure isn't going to help ..but I figured it would just error out. How did it brick it ? he was unable to load Hboot anymore ?
It went to the HTC screen and stayed there, when tried to go-to recovery it wouldn't work, eventually screen went black and wouldn't turn on, or even charge!

I suspect the no charging is due to running the battery down all the way. There's a thread or two about that issue. I think the solution was to pull the battery, plug in the charger then put the battery back in while phone is connected to charger. Then you might have to wait up to 30 minutes for the light to turn on and for it to start charging.
And yeah, if you can boot into hboot you should be able to get the phone back with RUU or if the ROM is fine then flash Amon Ra recovery in fastboot.
It didn't allow anything to be done in hboot. It won't even turn on now, i have him my battery to try and still doesn't turn on.

Well read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434532
and see if you can at least get it charged up again. Then go from there.
Both me and my wife have had the OTA for at least a week and we have not had any issues with the OTA.
Also, I must say, this is the first time I have heard of the OTA causing bricking of the unit.
If you can't get it charged, try the writing hack to get it involved. Basically you just take a regular usb cable and snip the connector off. From there you take the ground and the power, and then you put the ground and power to the battery in the respective places. Worked for a bad Atrix flash that killed my battery.

I hadn't heard of it bricking it till I saw it first hand... As far as charging, it's a non issue since I have my friend my fully charged battery to try and wouldn't turn on. (Note that this is happened only after it stayed on the HTC screen for about 30 minutes, so it may have overheated or something during that time?)

If it can get to the HTC screen, it isn't bricked. Put your battery in his phone and see if it can get to HBOOT.

I don't think you can write off the battery/charging issue. It takes some time for people who have let their battery fully drain to get the phone to charge it again although they were able charge on an external charger iirc. Anyway, point is it may be the phone not the battery that needs to "wake up" (for lack of a better term) again.
So definitely go through that dead battery charging thread and try everything in there to get the phone to charge the battery again. Then you'll know the phone is functioning as it should, atm it may not be.
I don't understand how the the OTA forced itself since all of Scotts ROMs are debloated. Everyone that rooted and debloated running stock, said that the update failed in recovery, I know I witnessed it on mine. Being on an ICS build, one would think that the update wouldn't even be downloaded.
yeah it is strange. Even if I force check for update on my Rez the update doesn't come. Are you sure your friend is telling you the whole story?

I am said friend.
Durthquake sits in the cube next to me. He watched the whole event transpire.
Here's what happened and what was tried and the resolution,
Rezound reboots to the HTC screen. Won't show the think brilliantly words. Just stayed on HTC.
So I did a battery pull and rebooted phone and same thing. Just HTC.
Now I reboot to recovery, get hboot and try to do a wipe. It blinks like its going to try to go to recovery then turns off.
Do another battery pull boot maneuver and it does the same thing.
As we are at work I did have to work so I leave it on the stock wall charger for about an hour and try to turn on again. HTC screen so I leave it to see what happens, maybe I didn't wait long enough.
Like 35 minutes later screen goes black.
Now it won't power on, won't go to hboot, basically a brick. So I pull my battery give it to durthquake who gives me his rezound battery. His phone turns on, mine doesn't.
Now I try pulling sim, sdcard, and putting my battery back in. Still nada. Phone be properly bricked.
Bring it home put sim, sdcard, and battery back in and put on HTC wall charger overnight. In the am nothing. Still a pretty beats brick.
Go to vzw and the try charging turning on etc. Nada. They say since the ota they've had about 5 of these in.
The resolution is vzw sending me a new rezound and I buying a new phone so I can give the resound to my gf.

Was running AOKP milestone 4 when spontaneously there appears on my screen an empty battery icon. This was in spite of the fact that battery was fully charged. The phone was completely unresponsive 2 rebooting or going into recovery. I was able to get my computer to recognize the phone 1 time and I odined back to stock gingerbread. Booted fine and seemed to be okay when it happened again. Now it just sits at an empty battery icon. The computer no longer recognizes it. If I plug it in to charge it briefly displays what appears to be stock recovery. The stock recovery however is not responsive to any key presses. Anyone experienced this or have any ideas how I can rectify it. Fortunately I have a backup fascinate and was able to activate it. I'd like to keep the other as a spare if I can figure out how to get it to respond.

Flash memory does have a limit to the number of times that it can go through the erase/program cycle but it's somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 cycles for NAND flash.
I've had some charging issues after flashing to AKOP, but that may or may not be related to your issue.
Sometimes I can get it to respond in download mode then take it to stock but most of the time it's just a waiting game. Everything seems to run fine on stock. If I go to CM7 or AKOP (or any ICS ROM) I randomly get instant battery drain and an somewhat unresponsive charging port.
I've also noticed some of the Fascinates that come through where I work only take certain batteries. Some take the blue Samsung and others take the black ones.
Howdy,
I'm stuck in a boot loop, searching the forum for a similar problem has yielded no result applicable to my situation.
I'm running CM10 and using TWRP (latest I think) and I'm S-OFF. Ive been running cm10 for about a month and have had no problems. This morning I woke up and checked my emails and texts then put my phone in my pocket. When I took it out about an hour later, the power button wouldn't wake my screen but it would light up the capacitive buttons. To try to fix, I did a hard reset (power button 10+ seconds) and now my phone won't boot or show anything on the screen, it just vibrates over and over.(about 10 seconds between vibrations) I also am unable to do another hard reset (the buttons wont's flash or anything). I've tried to get into bootloader and recovery and I can't get into either.
Also, I plugged it into my computer, and the charging light isn't on. According to om4's thread, I think I might have a corrupt kernel? But i don't know how that would be possible since I haven't flashed anything new for a month or so and I havent had any problems previously.
I'm familiar with adb and fastboot. But since I can't hard reset again, i'm not sure how to get into bootloader. Any ideas?

Wait....
So does the phone turn on to get adb support?
If you have adb you can reboot into the recovery.....adb reboot recovery
If still no see if you can run a ruu.exe for your device....this will restore your device to factory configuration.
If your phone doesnt even boot or anything thats not good really.

It's going through the same steps with the back cover off. Either no vibrating or continuous vibrating and no charge light. Screen is still blank.
EDIT: Does this seem like a problem with the kernel? or is it impossible to say. Is it worth trying to exchange the unit itself at best-buy
I appreciate your speedy replies.
If you don't have anything important on your phone I would definitely take it back to best buy. It's hard to say what it could be but if you were running fine then it all of a sudden happened with no changes I would doubt it would be the kernel

Well its not a stuck button. I removed the back and the button is working great. I did however notice the battery is bulged in the center.... Suggestions?
Just go ahead and get a new battery, bulge= n good.
While you're awaiting delivery:
You could have an app constantly crashing in the background.
If you're rooted... use tibu, if not use helium, back up your apps.
If there's a custom recovery, factory reset within it. (Can't remember if that option is in stock recovery or not)
If it's so doing that after a fresh boot then it's not an app.
Had the same symptoms with my i717R. Battery has failed or is failing. It would show charging in recovery, but whenever it booted, it would go into a loop and then not have any charge. Circuit in the battery is toast.
Ok ordered a new battery and it will be here Friday... Ill post back the results!

I see that you fixed the problem, but here's for people having this exact problem:
I have a Note from Bell (SGH-I717M), and it did the same thing, turns off and vibrates constantly. I figured out the problem, even after factory resetting didn't do the job. Luckily, my phone was slightly rooted with a backup from 6 months prior. I flashed back to that date, and updated to 4.2 (stupid thing was on 4.0.2), works just fine, took 3 days to get the device started in the beginning, however.
