[Help Wanted] [Wiki] Creating Archos Wiki Pages - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
just added the Archos 70, 80, 101 devices to the Wiki as those are the mainly discussed devices here.
Atm I think about adding (for the Gen8):
Device Information (like the other devices have)
Development
Chipset Infromation
OSes (the mainly discussed ones here)
UrdukDroid
OpenAOS Bull RC
ICS Gen8
Other OSes
Rooting
Chulri's rw root
Urukdroid
Apps
Working Games
Problems / Solutions
USB Host Problem -> partial solution latest frimware
USB current limitation (for 70 gen8) -> Other kernel
Device wont turn on (the *blink* problem) -> seems to happen ifthe device gets very cold most time -> solution isn't clear to me yet (research)
Disasembly -> extract gathered infromation from Chipset Infromation thread and archosfans.
Tweaking guide
Why do i do this?
Well we got lots of infromation all about this forum - some are stickis some are not... Well imho it's always nice for users to have some gathered information - and I mainly want to inprove the problem/solution corner in the wiki - so we can find those easy.
The work can be done by extracting information or give a short introduction with a link to the related thread (wich is best in most cases)
As my time is very limited due to my finaly exams - feel free to add your favorite content.

I can work on the Archos Gen8 101-page but my English isn't always that good.. So please correct my mistakes
EDIT: Done!

Very nice and useful job!
Maybe I also put my two cents too there (if I find any).

HTC kernel beginner

hello ... i'm a kernel rookie
besides the http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XanaduxDeveloperHome link for the developers on the xda-developers wiki, is there any other link pointing to more specific kernel HTC Oxygen info ?
THANKS !!!
PS: i mean a detailed description on every aspect regarding how the kernel get's loaded on the smartphone , how it interacts with every little piece of hardware on it ,etc...
Read the platform builder help files; I've been enjoying a good read in court for the last month
V
sorry if i'm superficial ... where are thoose help files ? on the [URL="http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Xanadux[/URL] wiki there are no "Oxygen HTC S310 / Dopod 310 / orange spv C100" links towards some other file ...
Are you talking about the ARM processor kernel docs out there ?? like source/linux-2.6.x.x/Documentation or "understanding the linux kernel" , "kernel development" 'n stuff ???
thanks
maybe i joined the wrong forum or what ???
i'm talking about porting the linux op
(i.e. XANADUx distro) on the HTC devices ...
Hi byteflowsoft,
Hare you refering to nk.exe (wince kernel) or porting Linux kernel to htc smartphones? I think VJ pointed you to platform builder because he thougt you where talking about wince kernel, if you're talking about linux kernel then this might be closer to what you're looking for:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Xanadux
http://vivien.chappelier.free.fr/typhoon/index.html
http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HTC_2dPhones
http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HardwareDocumentation
I recommend you going into #htc-linux on freenode, there's where all the development is discussed and there are really interesting conversations daily.

No... you joined the right one
thanks a lot ...
is there a linux bootloader for the HTC Oxygen ? or for a starter like me it's ok to read the bootloader code for HTC Tornado due to the fact HTC tornado is quite similar to oxygen ?! ... i don't quite find specific hardware details about HTC tornado for example , not to talk about Oxygen details which are totally missing ... it's quite hard to go through the bootloader code without being superficial in the begining of the journey ... there is no detailed HTC smartphone architecture description . how did you start up ?
There is nothing Oxygen-specific yet, and as it is a quite new device the hardware is quite unknown until someone disassembles it. The Tornado Linux port should be quite similar to what has to be done for Oxygen... I'm sorry I can't help much with other specific questions as I am not a kernel hacker, go into IRC (#htc-linux) and ask there, cr2 is "the man" you're looking for, he's really good and has done almost all the kernel work for HTC universal, there are other persons that also help a lot in the linux development on HTC devices: lkcl and rob_w did great job on the BlueAngel, now lkcl is working on the Sable. The handhelds.org wiki has a lot of info on different devices, and xda-developers wiki has a lot of info on ASIC3 chips, GPIOs, etc...
appreciate your info ... !

Android and WM 6.5 Dual OS smart phone.

such a good idea, a lovely phone.
http://www.articlesbase.com/cell-ph...-windows-mobile-65-tv-wifi-phone-2012484.html
anybody has experience of running HaRET in WM6.5?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396782
because Acer provides the liquid source code, its hardware should be same as S200. it 's possible to change parts in android code, and make a new android kernel (zImage) for S200, then boot kernel by HaRET in S200.
http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...&Step3=Liquid&OS=A01&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27
we need cuisine to test if there is some people to create one rom with dual boot i'm the first tester...
I've been searching for this to. Unfortunately my only skill is flashing Rom's that other people post.
For this to work i read that you must create drivers for the device to run android.
These guys have support for allmost any htc wvga device:
http://www.xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/htc-hd-with-sense-android-2-1/
Unfortunately acer isn't HTC so there isn't much supoprt on this forum for the device. Maybe you can contact rayfitto(owned a acer device and now a android) and the guys over at the tread I just posted to learn what is necessary.
Good luck!

This is possible but someone would have to compile a working kernel with proper driver support, the s100 is similar to the s200 but they have hardware differences, the only hardware thats almost identical its there basic e.g qsd82xx.

[REQ] Mediacom Smartpad dedicated Section?

Is it possible to have a dedicated section for this device [the 810c one, in particular..]?
It is a nice pad, and there is some stuff around the web, so it would be nice to have a thread to share infos, rom, and knowledge... atm the community is trying to compile a working custom kernel...i think that it is very important to have a place that contains all the knowledge we have...
if u need a moderator for this section, here i am.
Thanks
maybe we'll have one also for smartpad 700 3g? nice, cheap & cute
yyyyoooohoooooo
Little up
Some mod/admin could say something about?
still no news?
Hello there
Because there is no dedicated section for this tablet, and i think probably would never be (because there are a bunch of tablets like this tablet, and they are not so main stream like other, i think, developers wouldn't take too much time "developing" for this tablet and cooking roms) but in fact, I want to help, because I myself brought this tablet very chep. I've found that my tablet is called Prestigio Multipad pmp5080b, but there are other companies who made this same tablet but have different name. Try searching forums for this tablet in this names, Prestigio Multipad PMP 5080b, Nextbook 8 PREMIUM (not nextbook7), and like you say, MEDIACOM 810c.
There are links with Rooting and Custom roms for this tablet, that i've found.
Remember, i take no credit for developing this ROMS and uploading it!

My favourite 3.0 ROM for this Tablet (use google translate if you dont understand Italian)

*** LINKS FOR THIS ROM ARE AVAILABLE ON MULTIUPLOAD AND THEN YOU CLICK ON HOTFILE OR FILESERVE.
When you read caerfully how to flash that rom, you will notice that you need Rockchip driver. I've managed somehow to download that driver, but if links are dead, contact me, i will upload RK driver.
Cheers to all developers and all people who have this tablet. It is quite cheap, but quite good tablet!

Hello,
I believe Smartpad 710C is based on the Shenzen M722HC device, which is also used on Spain for the BQ Pascal Lite C.
I am setting up some instructions on how to build the kernel / create custom roms, eventually it works for 810c, google.com, search for "rk2918tools flash" .
I am still trying to assemble the right .config, since BQ did not provide it.

help compiling realtek rtl8188ctv wifi module

Hi, I have a device labelled Superpad VI. everything was okay but when i tried firmware update, its wifi stopped working and started giving "error" when i try to turn it on. Now I have just figured out that the original superpad VI has ralink wifi chipset whereas this device has realtek rtl8188cus chipset. so when i try to install superpad VI firmware, everything else works but wifi doesn't. Now can anyone please guide me how do I need to install the drivers for wifi? I have found the Linux/Android drivers from Realtek website but they need to be compiled. I know nothing about compiling/programming and Linux itself. can anyone please guide me?
The un-compiled drivers can be found here (under rtl8188cus) http://www.realtek.com/downloads/do...274&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums & Read the Forum Rules
Moving to Q&A
sorry. I was confused what section to post this because it was a kind of development related question.
is this really so difficult that no one has even replied????
it is not difficult, people are getting too lazy to compile it. everybody in this forum should know how to do this, especially for the worlds most popular wifi chip... if they don't know, then they are just consumers. and not developers.

Huawei P9 Lite (Android 7) & General questions

Hi! First of all... Sorry for bad English! I am German and was smoking to much in school.
I hope you understand what I mean in this post. So lets begin...
I don`t want to call anything bad here on this forum, or criticize anyone of you. I am very grateful for the many work and time that most of you spend for all of this. But I am a newbie and must write something, that myself and many other newbies are thinking, but not writing, about many threads. As an example,
the Thread "{Android 7 - EMUI 5.0} VNS-L31/L21/L11/L23 C432B329 {FULL/LEAK} [28-11-16]", linked here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...t/android-7-emui-5-0-vns-l31-l21-l23-t3513816
I read about this Android 7 firmware and was very interested to flash it. But as a newbie, I wanted to collect as much information as possible about this firmware (general Informations, How to flash, Problems, what to do if it fails, ...). Because I think that this forum is the best at web, I searched for these informations here and began to read everything I could find about it. But on most threads, like my example thread, I have a problem, because I did not understand, if its up to date or not. And if the problems, other users write about are still there, or if they were fixed allready. There are to many posts, where users write about different problems. So it often makes me confused, because I am not sure if answers are for problem user1 posted or for problem that was posted by another user. If its quoted, ok. But its still very difficult to understand what is up-to-date and if problem would be fixed now or not. Sometimes I read all of these posts and at the end I understand nothing anymore, because everyone is writing about different problems. So it feels like chaos for me. Then it happened that sometimes users say that there are no problems anymore, and at next page someone writes that there is still problem. Some users post links to websites, threads or files and next user posts links to websites and files too. And then I am thinking about, if they are writing about same problem, if I need all of these stuff or not, what I must flash first, if problems exist if I flash linked file from user1 or if it might be fixed at linked file from user2, .... Then I asked myself which one of this is the newest and up-to-date and if this was the one I get shown at started post on first page (I mean If it was updated by thread starter or if someone posted a newer version at example page 23 of all replies)? How I know if these informations on page 1 are still up to date? At moment I did not understand if there are still problems, or not. And which of these files to flash, to fix problems. After many days I was reading now, I am still not sure if I could flash this firmware on my Huawei P9 Lite (VNS-L31 C432 B161) without getting problems, I read about. As an example, problems like these:
-Is camera working
-keyboard working
-display showing all ok
-mobile data working
-and others
And I don`t know if I must download and flash the files, posted on first page, to become most newest / most stable version, or if I might must read all pages of this thread, to find something posted, thats newer than information on first page? All together... my final question is: Are these informations and files that were posted on first page, all I need and up-to-date for flashing this firmware?
My greatest wish would be a general thread, where I could find all informations and files categorized in different threads, so that newbies like me could understand it better. As example, the thread "Huawei P9 Lite Firmware Compilations by ErvinSoliven", that were opened today by ErvinSoliven and linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...huawei-p9-lite-firmware-compilations-t3517124
I opened it and it shows me all the information (hope soon actually ) I was looking for, without reading all of the replys on many pages. This I think is a very good example thread on how to categorize different themes. And I think it would reduce questions, that were allready asked by other users for 5 or 6 times before. So If someone were willing to invest so much time for things like that, I would be very happy and grateful. Who wants to be that hero?
But at first, it would be the most important thing for me, if someone could post an up-to-date information thread about
flashing Android 7 on P9 Lite (VNS-L31 C432), inclusive
-links to needed files (Recoverys, Images, Fixes for camera..., and how to do it)
-informations what is fixed or still not working
-what to do if I get problems during it
It would really really help me, because reading so much posts, in a language that I did not understand very good, is very hard for me and makes me not sure, if I am doing all of this right or if I might did understand something wrong or choose wrong file, ...
I hope you all understand these things, I want to tell you, in this post here. If not, sorry again for this bad English! I tried my best.
At the end of this post, I want to say something again...
"Thanks" to all the people that have so much patience, spending many time and many work, for this great forum and teaching newbies like me! You are the best! Many thanks!!!
Greetings, 77777772
