Bricked? - HTC Rezound

So I plugged my rooted stock rezound into charge. It wouldn't turn on to my surprise. The orange led will come on for a few seconds when I plug it in but then shuts off. I can't get into hboot or recovery. Says error device not found in adb. Don't wanna return to verizon like that. I could use some help lol

Is the battery completely dead? And do you have clockworkMOD for recovery? If yes to both, it's CWM's problem. You need to get AmonRA flashed and your battery charged up.
If not.....

Battery was at 70 percent when I plugged it in so I doubt it. But I do have cwm. It won't boot plugged in with no battery either.

If your battery isn't completely dead, try this. Unplug it, pull the battery for a few seconds, put the battery back in (do not plug the phone back in), and attempt to power it on. Once it starts to boot, feel free to plug it back in. I had this happen to me once when I was screwing around with recoveries.

Got it. Turns out the extended battery I swapped in was dead. The regular one in the phone is now a paper weight. I put my girls thunderbolt battery in and it booted so I charged my extended battery

verizon had external chargers for the rezound for 5 bucks a while back, they still might or amazon or ebay have them cheap as well.
I would stay away from CWM since it is causing so many charging problems. Why do people use this recovery on the Rezound when it clearly is buggy.

Bricked

So, I did S-Off yesterday, flashed the SU binary yesterday. Did NAND backup for good measure. All great and all.
Today, I wake up and phone is off. Realized I forgot to charge it. Plugged into charger, and orange light comes on, turns off for about 2 seconds, turns on again. 10 minutes plugged in, Pune won't turn on. Took out and licked the battery terminals. It has juice.
Noticed that now the light doing quick flash of orange quick flash of green. None of buttons do anything.
Any ideas?
Leave it charge for about 1 hour, then try to boot up. If you have a battery dock use that, if not just plug in and let it sit.
edit.....i just seen another thread where the phone doesnt charge while off, what recovery are you using? I have the twrp (TeamWin Recovery) and it is charging while phone is off.

The team win recovery. I did a crude battery test (licking terminals) and it should have sufficient juice to boot up
Unplug it and turn it on, its not bricked. But it wont turn on as long as its plugged in.

Weird, did turn on, but power button was weird. Had to push it few times. Booted up, shows about 50% battery

that would be my thread.
It was suggested on that thread that I use a different recovery (using CWM at the moment), but I see that the person who is having this same problem is using TeamWin recovery and has the same issue, so I'm guessing that it's not the recovery itself but some other reason.

I think it has something to do with turning off fast boot. I checked it back, and it worked like it did before.

It's because HTC won't allow charging with the phone off (trickle charge) due to the fact it kills battery cells fast and HTC doesn't like replacing batteries. Keep fastboot on in power menu and you will be able to charge with "phone off"...because it truly isn't off.....

Everything was working fine...i know the battery is completely dead but like i said when i plug it in the charger the red light comes on for about 5 seconds then it goes off and wont come on again. He was gonna put a ROM on it and root it but i have to get it flashed to the metro network. He put it on mobilego i guess to backup my info but he had it on other programs, told me i needed it flashed first then gave it back to me.its been on the charger for about 2 hrs now and no charge still
Maybe he bricked it?

Did it boot yet? For me, if the battery dies, I have to pull it out, put it back and let it charge for at least 10 minutes before it starts up again.

Pull battery for a few put back in then charge it on a wall charger while its still off for 30mins...Mobilego is sync software so unless he actually went through the process of going into recovery etc etc then chances are its the battery

I would like to know if you can access recovery with the phone without a battery but with the charger on.
To access the boot menu, make sure the phone is off and press pwr + vol down. If you can access the recovery menu then there is still hope.

Sounds like battery issues... The phone thinks the battery is dead... Pull the battery out and leave it for about 20 mins or so, throw it back in, don't power it up and plug it in, let it sit for awhile(red led should stay lit) after like 20 mins turn it on

Had the same issue try plugging it into the charger for a couple mins remove the battery replace the battery plug it back in and repeat 6-7 times then hold power and volume buttons. If not leave the battery out for like an hour then try the first step. I know it sounds stupid but it worked for me. Hope it helps.

[Q] Bricked Amaze Won't turn on

Here's what happened
I rooted, unlocked, and installed Fourth Bar Sense and Faux's Kernel 0.0.8 about a less than a month ago.
Installation is a success, no bugs, glitches, and everything runs smooth.
3 days ago I charged the phone to 100% and reset battery stats since I read a post claiming that it could boost my battery time.
Today the Amaze runs out completely out of battery.
Plug it up, LED turns orange and leave it to charge for 2 hours.
2 hours pass when I notice that the LED isn't on.
Get suspicious. Try to turn it on. Wont. Try to go into recovery mode (
It's volume down, and long hold power button down right?) Nothing.
Would be thankful if anyone could help out.
What recovery do u have installed? Its probably one of two things, either the recovery you have installed is the older one that does not support off charging, therefore since its dead you will have to find another phone to charge it with. Or 2, your battery is fried...

I have C.W.M 5.0.2.6.
I've had problems off charging it before.
That's going to be near impossible. No one I know has an amaze, evo, nor sensation.
Should I take it to Tmobile and see if they can do something? Perhaps exchange it for a new one? I have warranty.
Just try letting it charge longer. I had a similar problem and it took a few hours to charge enough to be able to turn on.

Well, it's been charging for about 8 hours now and still won't turn on.
Something similar happened to me, and after plugging it in, unplugging it, replugging it in, taking battery out, and doing that for a bit my phone eventually booted up. If no luck, go to a TMo store and tell them you need to borrow a battery or phone to charge your battery.

[Q] Help!! Phone will not turn on

Symptoms:
1. Hitting power does nothing
2. Power + down volume does nothing
3. Plugging into AC power = no green light
4. Plugging into USB (computer) power = green light (which stays on after unplugging)
I have:
1. Tried battery and SD card pull while plugged in and not plugged in
2. A friends BH5X battery
3. Leaving the battery out for an hour
4. Leaving it charge via the Motorola AC adapter over night
I am out of ideas. Something else that may help... when the phone died I plugged it in (AC) and it rebooted to the recovery menu. I hit reboot, and since then it will not power on... or charge apparently.

If the battery worked on your coworkers droid X then its not your battery. Which means its hardware or software related. Were you running any roms or anything or were you completely stock?

Yes, it should. Or if you had bootstrap on there (which you should if you flashed stuff) it would boot into that if you turned the phone on when the phone was plugged in. Its really hard to say what it is when your phone simply died of low battery and now wont boot. I'm just as stumped as you right now since you pretty much tried everything I would have.

No, and it will not power on... just green light... which stays on even after disconnecting it from the usb.
I did some more googling and reading. Then came across the Factory style programming cable.
So you flashed your phone and now it thinks the battery is dead (even though it's not) and it won't let you flash it again to fix it? Or, your battery really is dead and you don't have a way to charge it because your phone is soft-bricked and won't charge the battery. What do you do?
With this cable you don't even need a battery in your phone. This is our clone of what is generally referred to as a Motorola "Factory Cable".
Unlike a normal USB cable these cables are wired in a way that compatible Motorola phones recognize as a "factory" programming cable. This allows the phone to power up and be flashed without having a battery in the phone. Depending upon the model of the phone, it may also boot up differently than it does with a normal USB cable.

It won't power on at all... that's why I need the factory cable... it doesn't require a battery.
Well, I finally got that factory programming cable. That didn't power the phone on either... it did power on my fiancee's droid 2 with no battery in it though. I figured the phone was completely hosed (also noticed the battery bulging a bit), so I got a warranty replacement. Since I couldn't even get it to boot with the programming cable I have no doubt VZW will not waste any time trying to repair it... at least I hope that's what they will do.
If a lithium ion battery begins to bulge it can be dangerous if not replaced. This is rare but with these batteries if one were defective it could reach 1.5V per cell during use. This would render the battery unchangeable and its discharge would cause the copper plating to create a short circuit in the cellphone.
