I have Alcatel OT-910, but i cant find anything about root & rom for this model here on xda-developers forum. I found threads for other Alcatel models (OT-908, OT-980, OT-990) and i was wondering is anyone working on this particular model? Is it possibile to have root access? stock ROM for OT-910? Thanks.

root
i have tried to root my OT-910 with SuperOneClick 2.3.3, but it doesn't work.
Keeps stuck at Step #7 Waiting for Device.
also tried to unplug and replug it at this part, but no chance.
any other ideas how to get root? Some of the installed apps are useless for me and eat up my memory, want to get rid of them
rooting problem
I've got OT910 too, tried several ways to root with steps, provided for other Alcatel android phones - no luck.
Try with different versions os superoneclick. Aso you should install Pdanet on your phone and your computer to and try again with superoneclick.
Sent from my ALCATEL one touch 990
No luck still
I tried all SuperOneClick releases, z4root, GingerBreak - nothing really works. The phone is hardly operable without root - too much garbage preinstalled.
Hey, i have an Alcatel OT-909a (which is the same as Alcatel OT-910 but with a lower px camera) and i also am unable to get root access, i already know that there is a stock busybox, and have seen some files of the internal memory but still not having luck, i also flashed some CWM and RA recoveries but i just got stuck while trying to access recovery, so i have to get back to stock recovery, i think there must be a way to do at least a nandroid backup and try to root the backup and flash again, but i dont know, the CWM recovery just boot the android logo, after there is nothing in the screen, but the QWERTY keys are on like if the phone was in recovery, i had tried Super One Click 1.9.2 and 2.3.3 and got stuck in step #7 too, zergRush and GingerBreak doesnt work also, something extrange for me is that the last time i try CWM, it didnt boot into recovery but into fastboot, as far as i know internal memory is read-only except for the installation of apps and some folders (or somehow i push GingerBreak and zergRush to the internal memory isn't?), i can't push su to the xbin or bin folders, but i already saw what is inside xbin an bin (as i said memory is read-only and there are some folders that requires permissions to access), there must be a way to push su to xbin folder (or at least maybe access su in another location?) but i still seeing how?
PD: sorry for my possible bad english speaking
PD2: yes i'm a noob and i hate myself but please some of you that know of this, help us?
Edit: just curious i just push su to "/data/local/tmp" then i just tipe ./su and it appeared on the phone "shell has been granted superuser permissions"

Here an idea: Custom Rom
hey guys, if some of you (someone, anyone who might wanna help?) are still maybe reading this thread, i wonder, i have played with the phone a little (unluckly i really messed up breaking the cellphone and luckily for me, the motherboard was replaced at service center), and i have been able to pull out most of the system partition, custpack and others, (except for the recovery partition) and i was wondering if maybe there is a way to create a custom rom with those files?, maybe we could create our custom rom and flash it, after seeing around the files, i got that 909a it's using what it's looks like at least the same kernel than ot910, (actually some information is from the ot910, in the manual it refers to ot909a-s ot910 as same cellphone but with different px in camera), so maybe we could create a custom GB rom based on the files from the stock system partition, and as alcatel has relased the kernel sourcecode maybe we could even do a custom kernel?, i was just wondering if someone can try to do a custom rom with those files, as i have tried flashing some GB roms replacing files and the phone doesn't boot up to android, but in recovery you get su access and pull the other files, but when replacing files, there is a moment when the system lose adb shell access, so maybe someone with more knowleadge (as i'm new to both android and linux) can help?
Rooting -- any news?
Has anyone succeeded in rooting the device in the meantime? I had no luck with either psneuter, zergrush, or gingerbreak ...
OT-910 successfully rooted!
Hi,
thank's to the great work of giantpune over at Phandroid, the Alcatel OT-910 has been successfully rooted (see the attached screenshot)!
For instructions, cf. the thread "Optimus Elite root with an apk" at Phandroid's LG Optimus Elite forum. Put in a nutshell, you have to install the following two APK's:
1. the Poot-debug.apk tailor-made for this phone, and
2. Ministro II.apk.
Both files are linked at the end of giantpune's original post at the LG Optimus Elite forum.
Note that Superuser, but not SuperSU, will grant root access on the OT-910.
Have fun!

If your last hope is xda... then maybe you will not have that much luck, if you're stuck at TCL logo, maybe you could try using the "OTU Upgrade Tool" (by means "OTU = Alcatel/TCL Flasher") and maybe that will do the trick and then you get your phone back to stock, if not (or if you already did that), then you're a little out of luck, as far as I know, there is no stock recovery around, and also as far as I know, there is no CWM recovery, now, in case you did use OTU Tool, and failed flashing the phone, then is almost sure that your nand is bricked, if you used OTU Tool and that didn't get your phone back, then you should see if you can still flash Android Images (more accurately 2.3.3 (since 2.3.4 did brick my phone twice)), at least with a non-functional 2.3.3 image, maybe you could flash from there with OTU again, or try to modify 2.3.3 system to work with your phone, if nothing of that did result for you, then you're out of luck, because I'm almost sure that would mean that you are in a nand brick, and the only way to solve it, is sending it to Service Repair (at least for now)
now, for using OTU Upgrade Tool, you can download it from TCL/Alcatel website ( www2.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/support/download.html ) in the download section, select your phone model, and from there download the OTU Upgrade Tool, after downloading, install it and follow the instructions for getting the phone in "Download Mode" (in OT910 = (pressing "Q" key with the phone totally off, and after pressing the "Q" key for 30sec. or a minute, then (still pressing the "Q" key) connect it to the pc and follow the onscreen steps (that means, choosing your mobile and getting in to look for the firmware and download it)
I have a kind of "backup" of the system (I mean, every file that is in /system) but sadly, it doesn't have the properly permissions set, and so, it gives also a boot loop (also I bricked my phone once again and for worse, when it was out of warranty), so if you still in warranty maybe you should send it to service :/
that's the sad of life when your mobile is not the one that is being developed by expert developers (not even a beginner one )
Hope you can fix your phone
thanks for help
thanks man you are my captain...
I recheck the upgrade tool it just say that you have latest software.
So if you have 2.3.3 then please give me that i will update it via adb shell as i can still access it as su.

I will, but before, what version of upgrade tool are you using? (mine has a kind of strange bug that the rom is never ever able to get the last update (as always download saying there is a new update (it's a fake but anyway)), that would be kind of a problem since maybe after you flash 2.3.3 the upgrade tool will state that you're still in latest firmware (even through upgrade tool is supposed to be a service tool, funny isn't?), anyway, since you have nothing to lose (since apparently you flashed a custom recovery that didn't work for you), but, there are this two things you should try before, first (and pretty much the must obvious one) if you have warranty (as long as you're in warranty and never tried to see what's inside the phone), and two, there is a little possibility that maybe you can access adb via the recovery you flashed, even, when the tcl logo appears, try to do "adb shell" or "adb devices", so maybe you can recover your phone without the need of flashing android 2.3.3.
now, if nothing of that worked, then there is nothing to loose, if you have the android sdk, from there you can download a 2.3.3 image, that will boot, but display nothing in the screen (still you can do adb shell with su, and try to properly install libraries maybe?), if not, then i'll check if I can do one system image for you, and see what it does
by the way, if somehow you can access adb , try to do "adb pull" and pull the " /system" partition
it's really sad that we can't (at least not me) figure out, how to use the files that the upgrade tool uses ( 570mb of 10 - 520kb files)
Help me... alcatel 909

Chapter 1: The Foolishness of the User
Hi, I have the korean version of the optimus one(KU3700). It was on gingerbread(2.3.4) stock. I was trying to root it by downgrading it. I entered "adb reboot recovery" and I'm stuck. I tried to reflash it by going to emergency mode with the button combinations using the KDZ updater with this
"csmg. lgmobile. com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGKU3700/AKTFBK/KU370040_00/KU370040_00.kdz"
and it worked without any errors but when it when it came up it was still on recovery mode. Is there any way I can change the phone mode to the regular mode
Chapter 2: Journey to Salvation
For anyone who has this korean optimus one, after days of searching, I've found a web site that gave me hints to solve the problem. I just needed a different kdz file and I got it here:
h t t p://sirospace.tistory.com/category/Android%E2%97%86
popped it in google translate because I'm Filipino and can't read korean.
Downloaded the froyo kdz and flashed. I hope this can help other people stupid enough to play with their phones by typing random commands without knowing what it does, like me, LOL...so happy, now it's time to root
Chapter 3: False Hope
OK so I have successfully unbricked and rooted my KU3700, now The problem I have is installing a custom recovery on this phone, none of the images I try work.
Recovery images I have tried are as follows:
recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img
recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-2.2.1.img
recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-3.0.6.img
Every time it finishes and reboots, it gets stuck at the LG logo.
Chapter 4: Wisdom Within
Found the problem. The images above are for the P500.Even if the KU3700 hardware is similar to the P500, flashing firmwares made for the other model will result in errors. The same holds true for custom recoveries.
Chapter 5: The Plea to the Gods
I've contacted drellisdee and submitted the files needed for custom recovery creation for the KU3700.
Just waiting for the flash image now. Thank you everyone
Chapter 6: The Forgotten
It seems drellisdee is busy right now. I'm a windows user and knows nothing about programing. So if anybody can help I'm sure the KU3700 community would be greatful. I've attached the files I think are needed to make a custom recovery.
Chapter 7: Quest for the Custom Recovery
I got tired of waiting. So as a windows user with no experience in programming, I did a lot of copying and pasting, I managed to port clockwork mod using virtualbox following this website:
h t t p://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/10/porting-clockwork-recovery-to-new.html
So I have got a bootable and flashable custom recovery but nothing works yet. I still need to configure it according to the device.
I have uploaded the image and the build files. Please help me configure it and tell me what's wrong. I really don't know that I'm doing
PS: you can try flashing the custom recovery by doing "fastboot flash recovery /Path to/recovery.img and you can go to recovery by using android terminal and type "boot recovery". It will boot, but that's that LOL. Take out the battery to boot to normal mode.
Chapter 8: The Holy Grail
LOL, I found the answer again. I was so frustrated that I kept squishing the phone in recovery and found out that it was just a button configuration problem. A bit of research and I found out that I can toggle it by pressing volume up and volume down at the same time. WOOHOO!!! Custom Recovery at last
Chapter 9: Invasion of the ROMS
And here at last, the user is retired. But the adventure is far from over. It is foretold that the creation of the Custom Recovery will begin a new era. The key to open the gate has been found. So our hero will await the invasion of the ROMS<background music...> END

Thank you for the reply but as I said, I can flash fine without errors it's getting back to regular mode I have a problem with. Rebooting and reflashing does not take me out of the recovery screen(it's just a opened box with an orange arrow and the android logo).

This is just a shot in the dark because i didn't understand what you did entirely : have you used the combination to actually recover the stock rom after you flashed with KDZ ? (Home+VolDown+Power)
Yes already did. The computer can see the phone whenever I connect it except that I can't access adb. I may have to take this back to the store

Are you sure you flashed the right rom for your phone? There's an application that downloads the required rom for your phone according to your IMEI/SN, but i don't know if it works with the korean version.
Yes it's the KDZ file, unfortunately it's the only KDZ file out there for ku3700. Shouldn't have settled for this korean version
why you wanna downgrade the latest version?
Dude I have the same Korean edition as you.
Actually why you wanna downgrade the latest version.?
My phone had 2.2.2 and I did upgrade it into 2.3.4 I did it officially and I can tell you How to re-install 2.3.4 if you want.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to downgrade it to root it. And now I'm rooted. My only problem now is installing a custom recovery. I've already tried several custom recoveries:
recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img
recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-2.2.1.img
recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-3.0.6.img
but I get stuck at the LG logo when it reboots. I think it's because it's for the p500. So if you have a custom recovery for the ku3700 please help
I dont get it ,p504,p505,p506 are versions of p500??? And why some of our roms work on those phones?? So by logic this stock work on p500???

this method worked for my working KU3700 when I'm using my 1st KU3700 I also was struck as you and finely I realized there are No custom roms for Optimus one Korean edition (KU3700/SU370) and I had to connect my phone to an Octopus box (lg softwere box) via software box installed the official firmware. if this method not working you have to connect to a software box.
connect to the internet your PC and 1st install Driver and 2nd install the LG update tool. after installation connect your phone to computer and wait a five seconds for comport installation. after install your phone Run LG Update application.
it is connect to the server automatically indicating red line and after search for latest firmware.
if you can Update your phone it is shows Update butten.

Thank you all for the quick answers, but I already have a rooted ku3700. All I need now is a working custom recovery. If someone has the same phone, please tell me which image is compatible
you can appear the emergency mood with android logo.
it means you have an Empty phone. your Os was been erased. You have to connect your phone to Octopus software box and box server has you original Os for your IMEI. this is the only solution. if you will able to solve this problem without a Software box please inform me. we can open a New Thread for Korean edition.
(ku3700/su370)
I already got out of the emergency mode without an octobus box. It's really simple, you just need to use a different kdz file. The hard part was looking for the kdz file. I have 3 kdz files. KU370017(froyo), KU370033(gingerbread-rootable), KU370040(latest one from LG, gingerbread-unable to root). Just flash with the KDZ updater. I'm on the second firmware because I can't root the latest firmware. To root it, I used super one click(latest version, use zerg rush option). Now I'm just waiting for a custom recovery from drellisdee so I can use custom roms. When I get it, I'll ask him if I can post it so we all can have uber phones LOL

If you have flashed a working clockworkmod you can enter into clockworkmod via ROMManager (search in google play aka market). In ROMManager you have "reboot to recovery" option in case you want to go to recovery to flash something. Also you can try to flash from ROMManager a custom recovery (5.0.2.0 for oldBB or 5.0.2.7 for newBB), try to choose to phone model LGP500 oldBB, try and test if it's working. Wish you luck.
Thanks but I already have a working recovery. I just need some ROM makers now

Have you tried CM7.2? if your phone is very similar with Optimus One i doubt it isn't compatible with your phone.
If your phone use 2.6.35.10 or 2.6.35.14 kernel you can give a shot to try CM7.2 on your phone, but before try this make a backup first.
Check this thread Post Your CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC1 Nightly Questions HERE!! for CM7 custom rom.
yep, it doesn't work. Is there a tutorial for building cyanogen for unsupported devices? All I can find are tutorials for supported devices. I've already got the source code from LG. The problem is just incorporating it in the cyanogen mod. I wish this phone had more users LOL
I'm new to this whole Android scene, been an Apple user my whole life. I know the ins and outs of iOS and jailbreaking, but i can't figure out how to root my device for the life of me!
I've looked through Google and found this (bin4ry's recovery), which picks up my device, and I get the screen on my phone saying restore, which I click. Then it comes up with "Starting restore", before coming up with "Restore ended" a few moments later. After that the program just sits there, obviously failing to root the device.
I've also read through this thread but didn't understand any of it, and attempts to follow instructions given were all dead ends
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Have you tried cd (change directory) into the folder where your bin4ry restore is located?
Commonly happens to most phones, there's a video on the site where you download it from.
Also that russian page is for installing CWM (clockworkmod recovery) And you need to be rooted in order to do that.

Its the only method that comes up when searching for my phone, but no I'm not sure. If you know any other methods that work that would be wonderful
Maybe just try some of the most popular methods like unlockroot, or superoneclick,
if all else fails, make sure your drivers are installed correctly, and keep trying and searching around. Good luck.
Same problem
-Ran the latest version of Bin4ry on my Alcatel OT-993 running unrooted Android 4.0.4.
-The script seems to run correctly and I'm able to click the Restore button but it wont reboot the the phone.
-When I manually switch of the phone it displays that the script was successful and says its waiting for the device to reappear.
-When the phone is switched on again the script finishes but says im not rooted
Hey everyone, (It's a long story: But I would really appreciate any help...)
[I know the easy solution: Boot into RECOVERY MODE and factory reset the phone and if all goes well...DONE.]
I'm running on Android 4.4.(the latest I think its '2'), Stock Firmware, 4G LTE form MetroPCS, and able to get into a so called 'recovery mode' (you can only factory reset the phone) and download mode. I can't get into safe-mode. and I'm Currently stuck in a bootloop or a 'soft-brick'.
Here's what happened:
I've recently been messing around with the tether_dun_required on my LG in order to get it be able to tether WiFi to my laptop.
The phone was rooted using this method: [GUIDE] New Root Method for LG Devices
[ROOT was successful]
I tried various SQLite3 editing apps to try and change the tether_dun_required record in settings.db in data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases but after looking ant the SuperSU logs I got this error: Cannot [mount or chmod] ... because the filesystem is Read-Only...
So, I decided to use ES-File Explorer to pull the settings.db file to my computer and modified it using SQLite Studio then I copied the files to sdcard and renamed the old settings.db to settings_old.db using ES-File Explorer. (all over WiFi) Then I ran ADB shell and got root using 'su'. I remounted '/' , '/data', and '/system' as RW using "mount -o rw,remount /" and etc... Then, I used the "cp" command to copy the files from "/sdcard/settings.db" to "/data/data/com.providers.settings/databases". I assumed you needed to reboot. So I rebooted the phone. AND....bootloop.
I was going to make a nandroid backup or atleast copy anything important out of the phone but: being a noob... I didn't.
I can't get ADB to run either of the Download or Recovery modes.
I know (have a feeling...) I can fix the phone if I can rename the settings.db to something else and the settings_old.db to settings.db but I don't have access to the filesystem because I can't start ADB.

Thanks you for you reply. I have one question though, I have no idea if my bootloader or my kernal or any of that is 'unlocked' I only rooted my phone. If I try to flash aroma fm and they are locked or something would that actually really brick my phone?
ALSO: I don't have an SDCARD... I don't think it's possible to flash anything then? Because flashing from the Internal Storage might brick the device. right?
ALSO: I don't think the LG Optimus F60 has ARM Neon support... & the "Recovery mode" doesn't have any flashing support. It's all STOCK.

Any Ideas?

well damn, if you have a custom recovery usb-otg you can make a flashable zip that runs some shell commands.
flashing wont brick a device. putting unsigned boot/recovery imgs usually bricks locked devices.
as with all lg devices, there is download mode to load stock firmware/updates. [LOL apparently I can't post outside links yet even, if their a quote...]

That's RIGHT! But, sorry for the noob question: What is a custom recovery usb-otg and how do I make a flashable zip that runs some commands? (For example: maybe one that just runs the commands but doesn't actually change the recovery software or the boot just one that can rename the files?)
Also, I don't think it would work but, would flashing the recovery to stock not delete any data, and have the phone be able to boot?
If it's too much to explain that's okay just show me some related posts that can show me how.
Thanks again for your time.

I'm not sure, because the phone already has the factory boot and I haven't flashed anything into the Boot Partition. It's probably an error that happens when it tries to validate the settings.db or the permissions it has [chmod or that its mounted read write]. [To my understanding] what TWRP boot loop fix does is install fastboot then the custom recovery and the stock boot again. Which should do about the same thing because the phone is already stock. Right?
Would installing a custom recovery then allow me to access adb or the filesystem? (If so any recommendations?) Or how would I run a script from download mode?
Thanks for your time.

you only need to flash the recovery. not the boot img.
installing a custom recovery will either give you adb, or an on device shell.

That's right, Thank you. I'm going to try flashing one right now. Do you know of any that give you access to adb? (and maybe have low risk of bricking LG phones?)

the one in that thread should work.
fyi, recoveries, roms, and kernels are specialised software usually only compatible with one model. so no mixxy matchy
i guess using those instructions you could try the img from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...8-5-0-touch-recovery-lg-t3049800#post59310323

How would I install the img? I would need to install fastboot, right? Then run fastboot ****.img?
Is fatboot run from adb or from SendCommand.exe?
Thanks again for all your help.
Ophidian_DarkCore said:
yea, just grab a fastboot binary, the lg driver, go into whatever mode in that thread and
Code:
fastboot flash *.img
edit: fastboot is it's own binary. so it's run in a command shell on your pc like adb is.

One last question (Need to make sure...): I have fastboot.exe from the SDK tools, so all I need to do is:
1. Connect the USB
2. Boot into Download Mode
3. Run fastboot flash *.img
4. When finished unplug the USB and take the battery out.
5. Then boot back into Download mode or Recovery Mode to get TWRP?
6. Then try to see if I can get ADB to work?
Also, sorry for all the questions: But If I ever needed to, will a factory reset delete TWRP or will I need to flash it again with the Stock recovery?
Thanks for your time. You are awesome.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Unfortunately there is no device specific forum for your device. I'm going to ask a moderator to move your thread here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
Solved it.
I used an exploit to access the filesystem and fix the corrupt db.

Maybe it's the fact the system was still mounted as Read-Write when I rebooted and the stock firmware just doesn't like that...
I'm new to android but love to code C, C++, and C#. Does anybody know of any API's that might help me access the filesystem in download mode. Because I'm almost certain the root method I used, used that as an exploit to root the phone.
Or can someone at least point me in the right direction as to how to UN-softbrick the phone without 'factory-resetting' it. I would really love to be able to recover my contacts and pictures.

i need to restore my lg f60 (i'm in the us and the carrier it supports is metropcs). i have TWRP recovery on it. can someone link to stock firmware/rom (whatever the terminology is...basically the operating system that the phone came w/), usb drivers, software tool to install the firmware, and everything i need to restore my phone back to how it was when i bought it.
i was curious and tried lollipop (i think i tried both 5.0 something or 5.1 something or just one of them ended up working) but the camera was completely non-functional so now i need to go back to the phone being how it was when i bought it.
the firmware i've installed on the phone right now is MS39510G_00 (i think "MS39510G" is the actual identifier of the firmware, and the 00 is probably not useful for anything; the site i got it from maybe just appends it for some reason). but this firmware doesn't seem like what the phone came with or i'm not using/not doing everything i need to to restore it back to normal.
couple of things that strike me as odd and make me think that i don't have the right firmware or just didn't do something right:
there's a weird white area at the bottom, which i think was transparent and took on the color of the wallpaper on the phone when you just bought it & didn't mess around w/it
some of the icons are just the generic green android icon. a lot of apps have this same icon instead of different icons of their own
the lock screen seems also seems kind of different. it doesn't look like the lock screen of a new lg f60. maybe i was using a custom lock screen (i doubt it, but it's possible) but still it doesn't look like the standard lock screen to me
how do i restore my us metropcs lg f60 phone back to stock?

In the developer options, there is a toggle called OEM unlocking. Try toggling it and try rooting again.
I got my device rooted... it's an algerian clone of your device and you can check by yourself (google "iris next e"
At first, I thought that this device is unrootable as I tried every rooting sofrware out there and no one sorked, then I tried some adb methods and neither worked also, but then I tried the last bullet in my gun and that worked
I repacked a TWRP recovery to be compatible with the device and rooted systemlessly with supersu... now I even have exposed and magisk working
If you can make the recovery yourself then do it, if you don't I can share my repacked TWRP with you and show you step by step what to do
On the technical side, what I discovered was that there is no adbd neither adb bridge in stock recovery mode (I even looked for it in the ramdisk and found out it's not loaded) so the repacked TWRP recovery (I got the source TWRP from a Xiaomi m3 forum, the M3 has the same SoC -mt6755- which made it easy to port), I booted the recovery from fastboot and it worked like a charm
p.s: if you dont know what all I said means, don't try it, you might brick your phone!! and please don't try the m3 recovery without porting it cause it will brick your phone for sure!!
I can confirm they device looks identical, I am not very familiar with repacking TWRP, but would be appreciative if you were happy to share.

ok then: what you'll need to download is:
1. adb minimal drivers (you can find it here on xda)
2. supersu latest systemless zip (2.79 I think it's the latest version) after you've downloaded it, put it in the device's internal memory (yeah just right-click the zip file, chose "send-to" then chose your device)
3. the recovery file which is compressed in zip (unzip it and put the img file in the folder where you've installed adb - c:\adb\ )
after that, when you've got everything set, restart your device in fastboot mode: shut down the phone then put it on by hitting the power button and volume up button.. you're gonna have a three-choices menu that you're gonna scroll with the volume up button, when you've got the cursor on "fastboot" press the volume down button... the device will be put on fastboot mode.
Now back to your pc, open a command prompt, then brows to c:\adb. When you have your command prompt on adb, write this (including the quotes):
fastboot boot "TWRP 3.0.2 by Jemmini.img"
Hit enter... wait a little (while the recovery boots) and then... voila!! all you've got to do is to flash the supersu zip through the recovery and reboot: congratulations your device is now rooted
p.s: I suggest you make a full backup for all the partitions from TWRP before you do anything... you'll thank me for that
Thanks for the elaborate explanation, but I am stuck on:

...but after a couple of seconds, it reboots to system.
Any Ideas what is happening?
Long time no see hhhhh
ummm really have no idea since it works flawlessly for me but ummmm tell me: do you care if you lose the stock recovery?
I would like to try to flash it but there is a chance that it would not work , therefore having no recovery. I have unlocked my bootloader though.
Ok so instead of:
fastboot boot "TWRP 3.0.2 by Jemmini.img"
Try:
fastboot flash boot "TWRP 3.0.2 by Jemmini.img"
This is only if you're gonna take the risk... If not, just give me time maybe I'm gonna find something for you
Sorry, but I don't want to take the risk. I think the problem is that I am running Android 7.0 which differs from other versions. I have contacted Kogan to see if I can access the source code, but judging by previous threads on Kogan, it is not going to be easy.
Ah ok then I must be wrong! Because my device runs on Marshmallow 6.0 and ther must be a difference between the two (software-side)
I don't know if you can do it but, can I have a system dump so that I can bring you a fix for rooting the device?
P.S: I can assist you to make one if you want!
I am not quite sure how to dump the system (Is it "adb pull /system <whatever path>"). I have run the command, and it seems that adb can't access the /system/bin folder. Is it required for recovery porting? If not I will upload the system.
Sorry for being late, I have no DSL where I live and my data plan came to an end!! I will look for a method to dump the whole system for you. Stay tuned
Kogan has replied back and the kernel is released to the public.
https://assets.kogan.com/files/support_files/KAPHN4G6PA_Kernel/kernel-3.18.tar.gz
I am not very experienced with compiling from the kernel so some help would be nice.
I'm not really into compiling kernels... I wish I could... Gonna see with some developers in the samsung forums may be they'll be willing to help
P.S: I'm really really sorry for being late to help you with rooting the phone.. my only pc is bricked and I need it to send you the files I used to pull and push recovery to the phone
In case it's not much asking, is there a possibility to have the link for the stock firmware from kogan?
Unfortunately, Kogan did not release the stock firmware, just the kernel. I'll too go to the other forums and see if they can help.
Thank you very much for your help, and I hope that you can un-brick your pc.

The thing is that I have a similar (identic) phone but Algerian brand that makes the phone is still on marshmallow!
I've still got the phone, but I don't know if my TWRP would work for you!
Quick questions:
0. Is it your daily driver phone? do you have a backup for your photos/data/important files on internal storage? just to put you in the image: I lost all my internal storage as I was playing with ramdisk modifications, hopefully my photos were cloud backed up. So be warned
1. Is your phone's bootloader unlocked?
2. Are you familiar with flashing or booting recoveries or kernels from fastboot?
after you answer I'll guide you through it
Hey thanks for the reply im thinking of teaching myself to build my own port of trwp.
0. It is my daily driver but i only just got it the other day ie. nothing important on there besides two factor authentication which even that i can reset up fairly easily. or just take the sim card out and use sms for that.
I also like to live on the edge a bit place austinpowers.jpg here(my first smart phone i got for my birthday from my rents: i got into a boot loop through flashing with in a week of receiving it and fixed on the fly at uni using the libary computers without my rents knowing my phone was broken xD)
1. Is the boot loader unlocked not sure how to check it on this phone, I do however have dev options unlocked with usb debuging etc turned on aswell as tickbox for "OEM Unlocking" with the description: allow the bootloader to be unlocked which i just have turned on .
2. Yes i do but im a bit out of practice its been years since ive messed around with root on android. Ive got logcat dumps through adb and have got fast boot working (as far as i can tell with the "fastboot" devices query) Got some help from a FB friend who is also going to try helping me make this happen. My previous experience was a HTC pico (the first smart phone i referenced earlier) and a Sony z2 which recently died dropping it which had a duel boot setup with carbon rom being the daily driver/rom.

Hello, there!
The precious thing is a cheap 7" allwinner a33 tablet. By apps its recognized as Astar y33.
It is a 16Gb Storage Tablet with 1 gb ram. I bought ist for 42€. :cyclops:
Unluckily i only can install apps on a 1 gb internal storage and the 16gb are only for media or movable apps. It should have 1gb ram but Aida64 said it has 512 installed.
I urgently need to give root to it, to make it work -and enjoyable. I allready tried out:
-Kingoroot (also via PC)
-Kingroot
-Iroot
-Towelroot
-SuperOneClick.exe
-and various desktop based one click rooters
and all failed.
I dont know what i can try next.
I have the ADB driver, but not a certain fastboot interface driver, which i could not find in the internet at all. I have a 64 system.
Many people with similar tablets could root them with Kingo root or Iroot, but it worked not for me and my tablet must be somehow different, it also did not had any bloat or malware on it.
Please, please, give me a hint what i could try next. :silly:
These are the specifications of the tablet:

Root method for recovery
Good afternoon!
To apply the patch-and for rooting you device, it is necessary to get into Recovery.
So try to load into recovery by this way: "Settings-> Recovery and reset-> Recovery Mode".
After rebooting, you see some menu where you should select drive(sd card) on which the pre-recorded file "Update.zip"
After finishing, restart your device use first point of menu.
Now you have a root, it is necessary to update the SuperSu by selecting "OK".
P.S.
I didn't test it but find it on some good forums. Send privet massage to me if you have some questions.
Root_patch
Good evening!
I tried it out right now.
It was flashable but the su binary wont let me update. How should i update the su binary? Do i need another flashable zip?
Unluckily the root checker says that root permission is not granted yet.
Update: I flashed a current Supersu update.zip with my stock recovery mode.
It says "installtion abortet".
I dunno. I ll have to use the tablet to cut vegetables. *joke
Wow, seems like suddenly root was granted.
Last thing was: I tried to root it with Iroot via PC.
It installed some adware on the tablet but the root checker still said no.
Then Kinguser detected some malware in the notification are. I fixed this and noticed that i also could remove system apps with Kinguser.
Then i retried apps that recommed root like rashr and to my surprise - root was granted suddenly!!!
Woah! Somehow im not so sure what rooted it now, because i already tried everything five times before already and it didnt work ^^
I think, it could be this:
Kingroot has shown me before, that my device is not supported. I could kinda request compatibility, which i did.
Maybe this magic happend unnoticed and suddenly it was rooted.
Oh ****.
Afterwards i flashed some recovery.img someone told me its for TWRP for the tablet.
Since then, its in a bootloop.
How to fix this? For now, i will just wait until the battery has run empty. (That fixed beeing stuck in fastboot mode before)
THANKS!!!

Hi, I have a Q Plus box too and have managed to root it but I need to bypass google play device check. I have edited build.prop successfully but can't find the global settings database to complete this. Are you able to help... does the Vorkez 7 rom allow for this? Thanks
