What is the difference in difficulty, if any? Is one harder to compile kernals and ROMs for than the other? Sorry if this is a noob question.
BUMP!!!!!!
impatient much?
Oh god. Come on dude don't start. I asked a question and it fell deep into the General Section. Just a curious question.

does someone have the code for the evo can it be ported over?
I believe the only chance is when the Legend or Wildfire comes out with 2.2 since the hardware is very similar.
Best bet is a Legend port when it comes (if it comes, apparently it's been discontinued on Bell in Canada?), since it has similar hardware and isn't an HDPI device like the Evo 4G or other 840*480 Sense phones.
Also, doesnt the [Q] tag indicate to you that you should post this in... questions and answers? We do have a dedicated subforum for that...

The legend would be easier. The WildFire has a smaller res screen, so porting it over would be a nightmare, as you'd have to redo all of the graphics to fit the Hero.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong !

The problem with posting stuff in other forums is that you never get a very good response there. Many people, especially devs and others with the technical knowledge to answer this question, would not hang out in the other forums. The dev forum is the only place where this question will get the attention it deserves.
This kinda proves that the forums here need a bit of a reorganizing.
Perhaps one subforum for actually posting ROMs themselves, and another for everything else. Splitting it into five subforums per device is pointless and just means that threads in the less busy forums never get noticed.
That question is too frequent...try to use the search tool before posting..
Moved to Q&A as not development.
Which ROM (2.2 android) is better for HTC Hero? - fast & stable .. please help
Wow dude. That was like the worst first post you could ever post here at the development forum.
First of all, this is development. There is a Q&A section for this. And what the "best" rom is......it depends on what you want. Try 'm out and see for your self which suits you best.
Not trying to be a d*ck but nobody can really answer this. Different persons like different roms.

Fair point. I agree that sometimes people get forums wrong (for example if a question is ambiguous as to where it should go). But seriously, this is no way development related.
Its an unanswerable question, unless more specifics are given (what you want the rom for). even then itd be diffucult to recommend one. theyr al good in their own way
Admin: move this thread pleeease
Moved to Q&A as not development, and closed as this is something only you can decide, as per the usual procedure for this type of post.

im a new vibrant owner.. and i heard about those rom.. what are those rom?? why should i flash them on my phone?? what are the benefits of it?? where can I find all the list of rom?? any suggestions of whats the best rom to flash??? what are you guys using?? sorry for many questions but answering any of them would be appreciated. thank you...
Welcome vibrant is a awesome phone.
Just so you know there is no best rom for all people . If there was we wouldnt have so many developers.
As rom is basically your phones operating system .
Why flash one ? I do it because I like to tinker. These guys often skin the roms much better than samsung.
I also like freedom of choice and added speed boost.
Often times our developers update the roms faster than the companies do!
You will have to try these roms for yourself to see which one is best .
I am fascinated and captivated by the vibrant screen on my epic galaxy s.
Hey man sorry if this seems a bit rude but ,why are you posting such lame questions, when you havent even READ all the avalible info concerning your questions first? Instead of being lazy and asking the members here to do it for you? This web site gets eaten up by precious bandwith by frivous redundant questions all the time that can be answered [most likely] with all the stickys including well thought out bibles, and so on! Do your due dilegence first then if all fails then ask a question here! Most of the veterans here bend over backwards here to help, but when you registered it asked you to read and search first, before asking redundant questions that most likely have already been asked!
try all of them
Careful with your questions, there are some mean people in here. But it is true, read up as much as you can before you ask. Here is some useful information on how to go on with your Vibrant, once you get a kick start, you'll be fine.

Enjoy!
Isn't this the q&a forum?? yes, i did read stuffs on the developers area and sorry for being noob that I can't understand them which leads me here on "Vibrant Q&A" forum. Anyways, thanks for those who answered some of my questions.
Welcome to the forum, my few bits of advice would be before trying any rom read the responses people have made in that roms installation guide. You'll see what problems people commonly encounter when rushing into things, and learn how to avoid them. Make sure you read everything carefully and dont follow directions for any phone other than the model you have.
Be warned flashing firmware is dangerous even when done right. Take every precaution, make backups! Read directions twice! That said, welcome once again and good luck.

OK bro well sorry for leaning hard on ya, you see I myself am a noob here, but I read everything I could , but the key to reading here is to understand the definition of terminology first and the bible that has these terms is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
Also here is the addy for the first suggested bible to read first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876779
Also here's some excellent easy to understand tutorials: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938875
Look its not that I don't feel your frustration, but ya gotta do some work at this first!
Then if you've made a gallant effort to educate yourself on what to do, then there are people here who will hold your hand as you proceed, some others aren't as patient or understanding, only because they are prolly burned out from all the noobs such as you and I, who have asked questions not really necessary, when we could've answered them ourselves! So with all that being said, good luck and take a few breaths, I myself am still overwhelmed with info saturation and am currently still confused on some issues! But I keep reading and dissecting the info till it gels together in my head, and then I go step by step, but I always make backups and have the proper programs and apps installed to rescue myself from bricking the phone!
First what's the status of honeycomb coming to the flyer? What's your take on how Sense works? How do the native apps flow with regards to performance and productivity? For the price do you feel this is a solid 7 inch tab or an oversized phone that doesn't make calls? Honestly what's your overall take on the product?
Thanks guys and I'm looking forward to your input.
Peace and keep it up.
George

Completely wrong forum. This is for development and posting of ROMs, kernels, and similar tools. Why did you post this here? This should be in the "General" subforum. Are there are already several threads very similar to this, that will answer your questions.

My question is Ports and Connectors (general Computer hardware)
are they the same? what is the difference etc if they are different?
I am sorry to ask this here but you are the smartest people I know and I could not find the answers on our good friend Google.

Depends on what ports and connectors you're talking about. What are you trying to accomplish?
