Can the North American i717 Note
use palm gestures like the international version
for screenshots and muting, can't seem to get it to work?

Palm Mute

After trying numerous times
the hand over mute does work but only while my hand is pressing the screen not very useful?
Palm screenshots seem hard to achieve,
tried many times and once it worked but cant duplicate what ever I did.
Anyone find the secret to the palm screenshot ???

Use the edge of your hand instead of your entire palm. Lots of T&T in the Int'l note Forum here. Not all apply to the AT&T note, like the FM radio, but lots of great info in there to pick thru.
The palmshot works every time easily for me. I have no screen protector. Wonder if that hinders it?
Mine works fine with the screen protector.
Sent magically through the air from the mighty Note!
is the palm swipe a feature of Touchwiz only or are there apps on the market that uses this method to take screenshots?

I really love it. I haven't used the stylus much. Nice to have though.
Totally used to the size after 5 days (from a reading and UX perspective). I picked up my wife's iphone yesterday, and it seemed comically small. Don't think I could ever go smaller again. Though physically, its still very large - my thumb tends to cramp when I hold it for an extended period.
My main complaints:
★Still a bunch of permanent Bloatware (no way to root yet without updating the bios counter, right?)
★I use the capacitive buttons on the bottom, but would much prefer there to be onscreen gestures for back, search and properties. (Are there? What do the international note users do without these buttons?)
★The phone is also so big that it's a pain to reach up around the side to power up. I would much prefer to have a physical button on the bottom.
★at&t bastards stripped out the FM radio (!)
1) yes you can

2) You can find apps that allow gestures like that.
3) can't help you there
4) I GUARANTEE this will be added by devs

You can root without triggering the counter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505062
The international note still has the menu and back capacitive buttons. The search feature is usually pretty easy to find in each app without using the capacitive button.

But have the confirmed we even have the hardware? I heard the Galaxy S II had the hardware removed in the US version. So if that is the case, FM radio wouldn't be possible

2) Can you suggest an app?
4) Cannot be done though the capability is there within the chip it has been disabled. This has been confirm by various FM Radio app dev's. They say that its disabled at a hardware level as the SkyRocket was.

wow, can't believe that. Good thing I don't use FM radio on my phone, but that's pretty dumb.
I'll see which apps are the best for gestures.

There are gestures for back, home, and menu when using the S-PEN.
new to android and the S3.
i've seen people unlock their phones be swiping / connecting dots. is this functionality built into the S3?
i'm running AT&T S3 16gb.
Yes
Settings -security- screen lock- pattern.
To unroot and return your galaxy S3 to stock for warranty watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8Tga_yKywc&feature=youtube_gdata_player

yes. settings->security->screen lock->pattern. I also use 'make pattern visible'.
If you value your security, don't use it. In most cases it's sufficient to look at the phone from an angle to see the smear of the unlock pattern.
And since there are 2 directions it's not hard to guess =)
PIN-Codes are a lot harder since you usually have other similar marks on the phone too.
I use it to prevent the phone from accidentally unlocking in my pocket or when idly playing around with the screen.

This was my next question, thank you!
i just got a samsung galaxy proclaim. All i want is an app that can make the 4 soft touch buttons on the bottom of the phone be light up whenever the screen is lit up. The phone is for my dad, who cant see the best, and he can never see the buttons when they are not lit. I am very tech inclined and have rooted my thunderbolt and modded the hell out of it and flashed roms all the time last year. I really can not find anything out there app wise, and there is not other option other than holding your finger over the light sensor on the front of the phone.
I dont think an app like this would be hard, but I dont know how to make apps. I will pay for it as well.
feel free to email me at [email protected] if you want to discuss how much this would cost.
the phone is not rooted, but i could root it if that is necessary. would rather not as i see it presenting new possibilities for problems for a VERY beginner user just learning what texting means.
thank you all

Can you tell me the name of this app, because its no more at the link you provided.
Anybody having problems with the palm motions? all of the other gestures work except the screenshot gesture and the stop and pause music. It is my wife's phone It is rooted with the original stock rom. Not sure if the phone has a defect or if rooting caused it to not work. Any help would be appreciated
Make sure the whole side of your hand is touching the screen and move it from left side across to right. Play with it a little bit and you'll get it. Took me a few tries to figure out what the phone wanted bit it works well
Sent from my rooted Galaxy S4 via tapatalk 2.

Hello!
Does somebody know if the edge notifications (colors) works with Whatsapp or only with SMS and calls? And will the s6 edge still have this dual camera function like the s4?
Thanks!

Dude, if by dual cam you mean clicking pics from both rear and front snappers simultaneously then it has been there from every galaxy since s4, my note 4 has it too. So, it would only be logical to expect that on s6.
And I don't know about the edge notification for whatsapp. That doubt can be cleared after someone gets the phone in their hands

Hi, I am not a dude I am a woman  , I thought the same as you, about the logical step in the s6 but i've seen many videos on youtube of the s6 and s6 edge and I have never seen this dual camera function on those videos, that's why I am asking this. So you don't know about this dual camera function and you don't know if the colors of the s6 edge works with Whatsapp? But my question is: is there somebody who DO know this ? Thanks anyway for your reaction!
P.s. English isn't my first language so maybe my grammar is bad, I am sorry.
I read that the edge is only for missed calls and SMS ,other programs will go to the standard led notification.

Hopefully because the sides are part of the main screen someone will come up with a solution, somewhat like NoLed.

haha i tried answering what i could
exact info can only be known if we get the device somehow.
PS: i take my "dude" back
No idea. Like so many here, I just have lots of questions that can only be answered once I have the phone. Kind of interesting though how it's going to work.
I'm curious how they're going to make screen protectors for the edges.... i don't think they could make glass ones, and dry install screen protectors would just peel at the edges the whole time. It would have to be a wet install, but most of those companies don't carry wet install products.
Ah thanks everyone. I think I have to wait haha! I am so excited, just ordered my s6 edge, the gold one

both these options are the wet/squeegee application, and as you noted, which will likely be the only type of screen protectors that will work well on the Edge.
they come with the liquid solution and squeegee, and only 7 bucks
IQ Shield LiQuidSkin
and
ArmorSuit MilitaryShield

About the camera i don't know.
But whatsapp i think it will get notifications in the edge..... we'll just have to wait for a dev to make an app for it.
WhatsApp Plus in Galaxy S6 Edge
I'm not able to install WhatsApp Plus on S6 edge because original WhatsApp come by default in the phone and cant be deleted only you can disable it , there any one know how to install WhatsApp Plus on S6 Edge ?
The Dual Camera mode is downloadable in the camera app.
About the dual camera... It isn't on the stock rom but it is available as a Samsung add on. In the camera select mode then download to get more camera modes which are not installed.
