[Q] Help with flashing CM10.

Greeting everyone.
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
So I have a Galaxy Note GT-N7000, running rooted 4.0.4 ICS with Franco Kernel.
Now I wanna flash CM10 on my my device and was wondering, if I create a Nandroid backup before flashing, can I restore my apps and data after I flash it? I mean, am l gonna still be able to retain previous messages, whatsapp conversations, game scores etc...
If so please tell me how to do it. (I'm aware that I have to install Gapps first).
Second, is CM10 a stable ROM? Can I use it as a daily driver?
Thanks in advance.

U need to perform a full wipe and flash the ROM. Don't worry about the kernel because each ROM cones packaged with a kernel.

You will lose all your apps and personal settings because you need to do a full wipe. You have to back up your apps with titanium backup and restore them after you install shostock3.

the others have covered the method. just wanted to add that if you restore from Titanium Backup and have issues with the ROM, the restored apps may be why. If you like what it has to offer, try a full wipe and reinstall apps from scratch before giving up.
Nandroid backup first!!
smsbackup + Titanium Backup = win.
Backup your launcher too if you can.

I like to use the old version of GO Backup. It's perfect and handles everything nicely.

[Q] A few questions about rooting and custom roms.

Hi
Im new to rooting phones and have rooted my Samsung galaxy s3 GT-I9300. Im running 4.1.1 on it and rooted it using odin and CF-ROOT-SGS3-v6.tar.
Ive got CWM manager and superuser on it and have backed up my apps using titanium back up and backed up the rom using ROM manager.
What I want to know is can anyone recommend a ROM that is like the stock one but with added features such as multi window and takes away a lot off the added Samsung stuff thats not really needed and also runs smooth without eating up too much battery?
Can I just update my kernel or do I need to install a custom ROM?
Can I install the new ROM using ROM manager?
Do I need to move any backed up apps and current rom off the phones memory to an external SD card before installing a custom rom?
Do I need to take into account the Baseband version (mine is I9300XXELJ2) when looking what roms I can install or does it simply have to be for the S3 I9300?
Sorry if my questions seem a bit daft or if Ive not given enough information. Im new to all this and want a custom rom that will hopefully offer a bit more than the standard one but dont want to brick my phone
Thanks in advanced.

I would recommend sotmax ROM or android revolution ROM which is both close to stock ROM and my favorites. But you have to try for yourself to know.
You can use custom kernel after rooting. But read the op to see if compatible.
ROM manager can install ROMs but only with the premium version if I'm not mistaken. Alternatively just use cwm to flash. Fast and easy.
Backup apps depends on what you using. Titanium backup? Usually backed up apps are safely stored. And can restore in any ROM after flashing.
Baseband usually will be along with custom ROM.
All in all if you read the op in first post of each thread and follow steps. Bricking is usually a non issue. But as always make a full backup before flashing.
Happy flashing

No need to move the backups anywhere unless you're gonna wipe your internal SD.
Baseband doesn't matter, just flash anything for the i9300.
And don't ask for best ROMs, it's against the rules

So does the baseband in the rom have to match the one on my phone or can I install any rom and my baseband will just change and all will be fine?
This is going to seem stupid but what do you mean by op?
To install or flash a rom using CWM do I just click recovery mode in the app and continue from there?
Thanks for the quick response,
first, read the basic guides.
op means the first post
BASICS.

You can't have Samsung features on an AOSP (aka stock Android) based ROM. Its integrated into Samsung ROMs.
For best of both world's you can dual boot two ROMs using Siyah kernel 1.8.9 eg. A Samsung ROM (ex: stock) and an AOSP based one (ex: CM10.1)
Before experimenting copy backups to an external SD card or your PC.
International S III 16GB / Dualboot 4.1.2 Stock & Cyanogenmod 10.1 / Gokhan's SK
Anono ROM gives high performance stability and great battery life
Other than that it is like stock

Hi, I am new here.
I have tried OMEGA ROM v45. It is a great ROM, however I encounter some issues.
1. Wifi direct is no longer working in my case.
2. Somehow my external SD card data is disrupted and asked me to format them, causing me to lost all my data. I am not sure whether this is because of the ROM or others.
3. My Go Weather application has an issue, when I try to reinstall them, it says that insufficient storage but my phone memory still got another 3GB left and that application is less than 70Mb.
4. Somehow my fonts are not working
Please advise whether you encounter this issue and how to solve them.
P.S. : Before installing this, I have already full wipe. in fact, I also try to reformat my storage
Thanks
Wipe phone and flash following the instructions .

as already on the same series, you need not wipe everything. if you have much patiency of installing apps again, you can wipe.

before I do recommend you make a backup (like titanium backup, rom toolbox, go backupt or other)
after the rom installed, recovery your backup apps (remember, that different system apks and/or settings would be different and can bring problems to new rom) - apps like gmail outlook need add the account to sync correctly with the servers. a tip is recover it first ... add the accounts ... test the sync ... and maybe recover just the apks data.
i really prefer a clean installation. full wipe, recover just apps ... to eliminate any doubt or "old garbages" ...
follow the instructions

[Q] Cyanogenmod on Galaxy S4? System apps?

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this, because I'm a newbie so I'm sorry if it's not right...
I wanted to know if there is a way, after flashing the CyanogenMod, I can install some Galaxy S4 TouchWiz apps, like the keyboard, or the camera, that I backed up with Titanium Backup? Im just suggesting because I have Titanium Backup but if there is another way I just want to know how
(By the way, are there a lot of app incompatibilities with cyanogenmod? Is the root included on the rom? Can I backup all my current rom as it is, the stock one?)
Thanks!

you need to ask in the thread (CM for your device). Maybe someone create some mods like this.
Thanks
