Thinking of selling my S II for a Galaxy Nexus

Opinions? What I'll miss from S II, is the Super Amoled Plus. :S But Galaxy Nexus has an HD, wich I adore. I watch movies/anime etc. Also, can anyone explain me what pentile is?
ask yourself if 16GB storage will be enough for your movies etc, comparing to 16GB+64GB for the S2
Pentile: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PenTile_matrix_family

to be honest, at a sie by side comparison between my sII and the galaxy nexus, i prefer my sII, it feels more sharp and up to date somehow, and it is more powerful that the Galaxy Nexus, not saying the Nexus isnt nice, its very nice, just doesnt feel or look quite as nice as my sII... the screen is cool, but im not exactly squinting to see on mine, superAMOLED plus on the sII is something to behold, it is the best by far, i would wait and see what the sIII brings to the game if anything, everything the galaxy nexus can do bar NFC (on most models) the sII can do, i wouldnt sell it for anything
EDIT: will add i am running ICS LPB on my SII, and it is fantastic, smooth as butter
i've made the switch to the Nexus. much better screen. feels better too in hand. the development is also at lightning speed on the nexus, youre always getting the purest and latest. i would say that you try it out yourself, do some side by side comparisons, then you can make the decision.
ive never looked back
if you think 16gb isnt enough, you could also consider the 32GB GSM version: http://www.expansys.com/google-galaxy-nexus-32gb-black-224348/
Hitching for a new device? Waite for the GSIII!
IF your ORD is that bad, then go get a nexus. Shoo! *wave*
I´d never switch my SG2 for nexus...
Waiting for SGIII!!!
I actually got a nexus, and after one week sold it and went back to my
galaxy s2.
The things that I liked on the nexus, were the screen, audio quality, call quality, mic quality, overall smoothness of the ui, the feel of the device, and how all drivers are open for all the hardware on the device.
But, the s2 is just faster (even with ics), the blacks are blacker, camera is much better, and live wallpapers don't lag the device. Also, I didn't realize how useful some of the touchwiz features are until I didn't have them. I like having so many options for roms.
After much deliberation, I ended up deciding to keep my s2 and wait for the s3, but you may have different opinion.

You're not going to find many people here who will suggest you switch to a Galaxy Nexus; most people who wanted a Nexus have already jumped ship. For videos, the extra resolution isn't even that big a deal--it's much more relevant for small text. Compared to my brother's CDMA Nexus, I prefer the color reproduction of the GS2 screen, though I do think the Nexus feels nicer in hand with its curved shape.
wait for sgs3, it will have amoled HD + screen and also buttonless design, so more screen space to enjoy movies
wait for the sgs3
its just around the corner
Although it is a matter of personal preference, I would stay stay with your SGS2 for now. There is a difference between the Galaxy Nexus and SGS2, but its not that different and its slightly difficult to say that the Nexus if better than the SGS2 all around. With a lot of new phones announced and new one coming (MWC 2012), best to stick with the SGS2. Within a few months, plenty of phones will have ICS and there will be phones that are much better than the SGS2 and Galaxy Nexus.
Skip Nexus and get the Galaxy Note instead. You'll never look back.
nexus or gs2? easy decision...gs2. as for the note...lol is all i will say ..
The dude abides....
Do some research and you'll find out most people who switched to Nexus say it feels slower than SGS2.
I'm not planning on replacing my s2 yet (pretty happy with it, especially with ics lpb ) but if i would loose it today i will probably buy a galaxy note to replace it. The galaxy nexus is a nice device but IMO both the sgs2 as the note are better

If it's a better screen you're looking for, I'd say it's better to take a look at the Galaxy Note rather than the Galaxy Nexus.. I'm going to sell my wifes Nexus S and buy a Galaxy Note while she will take over my Galaxy S2..

This is Hopeful!

check it out!
This is great news, thanks!
Just read it the press release from Android Central. Looks promising, but wonder WHEN's ICS rolling out for the Note is still much debated & anticipated. But we might get it earlier than what's been expeculated.

I got expeculated at the doctor the other day. Good thing my insurance covers it.
Anyway, I'll believe there's an ICS update out when I see it on my phone.
Regardless, the fact that AT&T is already releasing ICS for one of there phones makes me excited
According to Android Central AT&T gave a list of devices that will be getting ICS.
LG Nitro HD
Motorola ATRIX 2
Motorola ATRIX 4G
Pantech Burst

Best android phone?

I'm planning to buy/upgrade to a new android phone but I don't know what phone to choose. I'm wondering what's the best android phone out right now for Sprint?
I think Samsung I9100 is The best choice
Yup.. Galaxy S 2 all day!
You should wait for the HTC One X at least.. it'll be out soon
What is your budget
Well what are you looking for in a phone, the latest?, the biggest? etc
If you're on a thight budget maybe a older Samsung Galaxy S1 will fill your needs escpecially with a 4.0.3 rom from this forum on it.
I'd go with the samsung galaxy s2 personnally.
Definitely the better well-rounded high-end phone, imho.
I think HTC ONE X is best android phone
Sony xperia S
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
The HTC one X, only annoyance is the lcd screen.
Has to be HTC one X, Samsung Nexus or Galaxy S2 (or S3 when its out).
Or if you dont mind the size, how about the Samung Galaxy Note??
All good phones, plenty of happy users here and plenty of support as well!!!
Galaxy S2
what about samsung galaxy nexus?
I've owned the HTC Inspire, the Motorola Atrix, the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Note, and now the Galaxy Nexus, all of which I've rooted and used for extended periods of time, and I've gotta say that of all the phones I've owned, the Galaxy Nexus is my favorite. Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich is deliciously smooth D) and, though I absolutely loved my Galaxy Note's huge screen and S Pen, the 4.65" screen is still plenty big and offers a great media experience, and it's nice that you can customize the three on-screen softkeys and even add more if the new layout's not your thing. The camera's not quite up to par with the S II and the Note, but it still produces good-looking video and stills. I honestly can't make the Nexus lag no matter how hard I try, which says a lot for a six-month-old phone when compared to the brand new HTC One X that still lags and stutters despite its quad-core processor and all-around superior specs (though that's at the fault of the always increasingly bloated Sense UI, not the hardware). I'm sure that can be remedied on the One X with custom ROMs and better optimization, but if you're looking for flawless performance out of the box, the Nexus is what I'd recommend. Couple that with Sprint's new LTE network and you'll have yourself quite the badass phone. Honestly though, between the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Nexus, and the EVO 4G LTE (One X), you really can't go wrong. None of them are by any means bad phones, so just go to a Sprint store, spend 5 or 10 minutes with each of them, and take your pick, and revel in the fact that if you're not happy with your choice in 30 days it's not too late to swap it out!
I made some suggestions to another fellow who had a similar question

Galaxy Player 4.2 coming to the USA

http://www.slashgear.com/samsung-galaxy-player-4-2-ready-for-the-usa-11222549/
Galaxy Player 4.2 is coming to USA very soon; May 15th I believe.
In a reveal that comes alongside the just-released Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6, here comes the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 with no monthly data fees, Gingerbread, and connections galore to the other devices you’ve got on hand. This device comes to the USA with a lovely low $199.99 price tag – this compared to the full price of the rest of the Galaxy S devices comparable to this one (complete with mobile data and monthly fees) being downright reasonable. What you’ve got here is Samsung’s baby running an experience relatively close to what we’ve seen on Galaxy S II devices for software, Galaxy S devices for hardware, and more Bluetooth functionality than you’ll be able to handle.

$199.99 sounds like a reasonable pricing.
I wonder what the specs are. Are they going to give it dual core like the new Galaxy Player 70 plus has? I hope they provide more internal memory this time.
Does this also mean we will being seeing a Galaxy Player 5.2 to the USA also since the GP70 Plus is for Korea only.
I'm in the market for a PMP but depending what spec the SGS3 is, I might or might not need to buy a seperate PMP.

I'm satisfied with my 5.0. There's a 3.6, 4.0, now 4.2, and a 5.0?? What next? xD
I'm waiting for this to hit Stateside.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/05/samsung-galaxy-player-70-plus-is-the-worlds-first-dual-core-med/
Yeah, I'm waiting for the much anticipated galaxy player 4.1, but might also get a 4.3 or 4.4 when they are released
Samsung's life goal: have a media player with every screen size varying by a 10th an inch! (Is 4.2 really that much better than a 4.0 inch??)

I agree. The specs are almost no different at all other than the small screen size change. All samsung is doing is screwing up development for these devices. Just when the 5.0 and 4.0 were getting some developing going, samsung comes in with a 3.6 and a 4.2, which give more options to buyers, and less chance for more devs for our devices

Might take a while but you can order the Korean version from here
http://www.exportprive.com/en/samsu...s-yp-gb70d-multimedia-player-32gb-white-.html
I've been doing a lot of research & can't make up my mind if I should get or not. But, I'm starting to lean in getting it. I was hoping to find more people that do own it to give me some feedback before making up my mind.

This is what I don't understand from Samsung. If their #1 enemy is Apple then at least release models that compete against their iPod series.
great it's beautiful

That's one sexy beast, but priced a liitle too high. Maybe $299.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII EPIC 4g Touch with a bite of VeNum on XDA Premium!
I would pay maximum $350 because it's 32gb and dual core.
But the 16gb version is $365.82
such a great product

galaxy player EOL

One of the biggest distributors for samsung told me today that ALL samsung galaxy player models are EOL
At first I thought it was only the 3.6, but now they told me that ALL galaxy players are EOL
Galaxy Player 3.6 or Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 (YP-GS1)
Galaxy Player 4.0 or Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 (YP-G1)
Galaxy Player 4.2 or Galaxy S WiFi 4.2 (YP-GI1)
Galaxy Player 5.0 or Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 (YP-G70)
Galaxy Player 5.8 (YP-GP1)
damn you samsung, damn you!
Don't believe me? Call best buy and ask if they have any of these units anymore.

when they run out of stock they will not be getting more if they buy direct from one of samsung's 10 distributors.
I don't know what EOL means but I assume it is a device that isn't being sold. Anyway in the UK it is sold new and secondhand.
Sent from my ZX Spectrum
Amazon UK still stocks them.
I bought my SGP 4.0 with a warranty from BestBuy. What will happen if it is EOL?
It just means that samsung stopped making them. It does not mean that warranties become invalid or that the existing stock suddenly disappeared. I'm sure plenty of people are selling them, but those people are not Samsung or direct Samsung distributors.
Looks like 'everyone' is getting out of the bespoke portable music device business in favour of using your phone....bit of a shame whilst battery life is so poor if used for music, calls, etc....
I'd hate to think what battery life I'd get if I tried to use my S3 for phone calls, wifi, GPS and music playback.....?
EOL = End Of Life
The more causal term is sun-setted as in 'it's being sun- setted'
