[Q] Roms with long volume press track control - HTC Rezound

Are their any other roms besides Ineffabilis v1.3 that have the ability to change the music track via a long press of the volume keys while the screen is off?

I use that feature ALL THE TIME in my system.
I don't know about all the different ROMs, but at least 2or3 I tried it with definitely DIDN'T work.

Wonder how they got it to work in ineffinbilis?

Works with Stock HTC music, Google Music, AND Pandora on Cleanrom gbe 1.7

Try Plug in Music Widget. It doesn't have a long press to change, but a double click to change tracks. It didn't work well until the last release, but now seems to work quite a bit better. He built some options into the double press so it can work more than just for the developer. It also is the cleanest music widget, and works with Google music, stock music, and winamp. Has some other features like auto start when headphones plug in.

Thanks for the info, but I am looking for something to change the music track while I am running. I hate trying to fumble with the lock screen, especially in gloves (for the winter) when I could just press and hold the volume key.

I agree. The zero click ease of holding the volume up to skip to the next track is simply amazing.

You can always use the beats headphones...
Seriously thought I'm looking for another headset with better audio quality, I've grown to like the inline controls.

The widget has an option to change tracks with a double press of the volume keys, screen off or all the time, your choice. It's not quite as smooth or clean feeling as the long press, but it still works.

Lol, the best thing about the long click feature is you don't have to use those POS headphones........
I use that feature 100 times a day at work because I can do it in my pocket without looking at the phone and it works with ALL of my many different headphones.
Almost all 3rd party headphones that have the inline controls are setup to work with iPhones and don't work in android unless you use an app like headset button controller.
Using the long click feature in the ROM I'm using gets around all that and works awesome.

I know, I was just being sarcastic. I do believe these are supposed to work with Android - http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/mc2.html. I have ER-4P's now.
For whatever reason I can't get it to skip on CR 1.7, I figure it out though. I loved having that feature on my D1.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the beats earphones, but I drive roughly 70% of my day, so having my phone inline to my stereo is why I love the volume button skip.

Cool, I use a Motorola T-605 in my car, just hit the skip button on the BT controller. I do need a new mic for it though, it's not working anymore for some reason. Nice hands free kit over all, got it for like $50.

ok, I have a new idea for making money. Just take the bluetooth controls off and use them in your pocket. We could be like the guy that made the pet rock and make a million dollars.

[Q] skip tracks with volume buttons?

Do you think it would be possible to enable it? It's a pain to change track with the touchscreen honestly..
I know that it's possible to do it with Cyanogenmod, so basically we need a ROM ?
I believe PlayerPro and Poweramp can do that, maybe some others. I use Cubed and it doesn't.
Poweramp can't do that
Are there any news on this front?
I'm guessing you want to control playback without looking at the screen.
I have the same need, so I got a Jabra Clipper.

Try Tactile Player from the market, free or paid. I've been using it with the N7 player and it works. Double click buttons to change tracks, that way you still have single click control of volume. Play/pause with power button clicks.
Just select emulate headset controls in the app.

That is GREAT! Thank you even though I have problems. It's a mess with voodoo sound, when I change track with a double press the track does change but the volume keeps rising I use PowerAmp but I suppose it's system-wide

It seems like it keeps rising but I don't think it actually does. After going forward a few tracks you see the volume bar getting higher, but if you hit the volume down to make it quieter the volume actually hasn't moved.
Great app, but it's irritating that if you hold down one of the volume buttons it'll fly through tracks rather than turning the volume up or down substantially.
I'm still gunna use it though, this is exactly what I've been looking for to use while driving. It's such a pain in the ass to unlock the thing, go to the music player and find the right spot on the touchscreen to skip tracks while driving.
the analog volume does rise with voodoo sound at the point you can't stand it, maybe you don't use voodoo sound? and yeah the fact that you can't change the volume without getting crazy is a problem :-(
I thought the player did not support voodoo sound since it does not use the Wolfson chip???

I think the 4.0 players have the Wolfson chip, 5.0's use the Yamaha AFAIK.
yes I have the 4.0 player, what are you using?
I'm on US 5.0 player.
I'm not too concerned since I have Wolfson chip on two other devices. And the Yamaha chip doesn't sound 'bad' just not as good as the Wolfson.
you could always get one of those "shake" to change tracks apps then you don't have to worry about volume changing when skipping tracks.

Change songs with headphones??

Just wondering if there's a way to change songs using the headphones you get with the s3? Or if there's an app that let's you do it?
Thanks!

if you got original headphone, then you'll find that there's 3 button..
volume up, volume down, then the "other button"..
if you press the "other button" once, the music will paused or started..
Just make sure u pressed it twice to change the song..
Check out Jays Headset Control in the Play Store.
Its meant for single button configurations, but it works perfect to with my 2 (or 3) button configuration S3 supplied earphones
(edit) note that stock works too. but the app gives more options like prev track

I wasnt aware of that app, thanks
I couldn't get any of the marketplace apps to override the headset +/- buttons from acting as volume buttons, but have now worked out how to simply remap them to act as track controls, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28752382#post28752382

Thanks for answer me but, is not working, I did everything you say in that post, but I can`t make them work I see the whole Generic.kl from my original stock rom that doesn`t have problems changing to the next track o pause etc., and it is the same Generic.kl, I don`t know what is happening, is a really weird issue.

Poweramp multitasking

Everytime I use Poweramp and, for instance, start using the browser, eventually it turns off. I've tried playing with the settings but didn't have any luck. Is anyone having this problem or knows a solution for this?
Another niggle I'm having is related to the volume rocker being unable to change music in longpress.
Thanks in advance.
Settings, Audio Engine, Advanced Tweaks - Enable Keep Service and Audio Thread Priority too 2.
Never had that problem before with these settings..
As for volume rocker changing songs.. Volume Rocker only changes the volume afaik
My name is Optimus Prime and I send this message..
Thank you so much, the audio thread priority did the trick for me
As for the volume rocker, I used to be able to change track on my old HTC hero. Very useful when I was driving. Anyway, it's just a minor annoyance.

On the Sammy's they only change volume, though give it a couple of months and someone will have come up with a mod to enable long press to change track (just as they did on the S II).

Unfortunately, I'm also having problems again. Strangely enough, it seemed to work for a certain amount of days, guess I wasn't running that many apps aside from the browser and poweramp, so it didn't trigger this behavior.
Meanwhile I changed from stock rom to Omega 6.0, but it shouldn't it have anything to do with the problem, right?

Inline headset button customization

I have a Galaxy S2 i777 running Cyanogenmod 10. I bought some JVC Marshmallows (HA-FR36-B) with inline controls to play around with. I saw a while back online I can get inline controls to work by replacing a resister inside the control switch. I didn't realize it but these headphones only have one button. To my surprise, it works without any messing with it. The problem is the one button will either play/pause my music, or activate google voice dialing if I hold it (or press 3 times apparently). Is there anyway to customize this fuction (IE: 1 press pause, 2 press forward, 3 press back)

Did you mean JAYS Headset Controller, Headset Button Controller (cost money), or something not on the app store? JAYS is pretty unresponsive. It works but I have to be very slow and deliberate with my button presses which I can see becoming very annoying.
Could it be I have my phone underclocked to 800mhz to preserve battery life?
[edit]Welp, I'm an idiot. Poweramp supports this directly in the app. Still just as unresponsive though :\

Seems very slightly improved but that could just be me being tired. I'll live with PowerAmp's built in function. Don't see this being worth the $3 (why must every little thing cost money on mobile when tools like this have been free on PC forever?).
Thanks bro

Question Is there a quick way to silence P6?

Hi everyone,
I'm a bit more than a week in with the Pixel 6, coming from a phone that has an actual hardware ring/vibrate/silent switch. I miss that switch dearly.
Is there a fast way to silence the Pixel 6? I'm aware you can press the volume key, then choose the "silent" icon, but that takes some time/fiddling, and it DOESN'T SILENCE THE PHONE. Only silences notifications/rings. My old phone when silenced also silenced media, everything except alarms.
Invariably I'm doing something at the table or whatever and an ad comes on at volume. Sure, I can hold the volume down key, but it takes a bit for that to gradually silence the media.
What I want is to be able to double tap the volume control or something similarly fast and have it instantly silence everything (except alarms), similar to how the physical sound off switch worked on my OP6T.
Is there a solution for this? I'm fully stock, not rooted, not planning to root.

There are times I feel I should have grabbed an 8T for $400, but i wanted for once to experience a pure google phone. I knew it was going to be thick and heavy when I bought it but I didn't realize how much I would miss that switch.
That said, I'm enjoying the Pixel otherwise, and am pretty settled in with it. I've made the transition and don't plan to send mine back. This is a pretty nice phone!

Settings > System > Rules. Enable and use the "silence phone" rule. It's location-dependant so there is no toggle like what you are used to.
EDIT: For finer control than what Google provides, Tasker or a similar app should work for you.

Hmm. I'm not sure I understand how this is supposed to work. I don't want the rule to start when I reach a location or connect to a network, I just want to be able to quickly tell the phone to silence all sounds (other than alarms of course) at specific times like if I see an ad loading up. And I would want to be able to undo the silencing quickly too.
I went into the rules and tried enabling, but it's all about doing things when I reach a location/wifi spot.
I did double check my gesture settings, to make sure the Flip to Shhh was on... it is... I Think the shushing just applies to notifications and ringing, not media (ad sounds are controlled via media sound level).

I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief. I set mine so a single tap of the volume down mutes the media volume. Problem solved! And I like the option to disregard button mapper when the volume control is being used manually.
OK now! My biggest beef with this phone now fades into the sunset.
My initial reason to install was torch which I've mapped to volume down. Great app and @flar2 is a member on here so give him a thumbs up
