[Q] Proximity Sensor use - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I am using Ace of a year now. And I still cant understand that Samsung guys gave proximity sensor just to make screen go off when you are in a call. As proximity Sensor wont work for other uses (like snoozing alarm or silent an incoming call etc.)
Can those things work for my ace? is there any tweak or something that will make it work?
your help will be appreciated.. ty

its for diming screen

So I guess there might be an app to snooze alarm and to silent an incoming call.. isn't it?

SURE it's an app called TASKER, in tasker you can do anything !!! the problem is you need to know how to use it.... but... search for a tut......mmm basicly the app is:
IF->ACTION
FOR EXAMPLE you can use the sensor for silent a call when you face down the phone (yes, like sense )

M afraid...
They have these crazy, super-cool sounding names for new lock screens which turn out to be just a new version of the ring lock screens..
The Blade lock screen was a disappointment to me...
Let's see, only time will tell...

Jaani i dnt think so it is possible such find of fingerprint lockscreen bcoz it required some kind of sensor to recognise finger print.

It doesn't recogonise fingerprint.
Its like fingerprint lock app for symbian.
Keep your finger on the print (displayed on screen) and remove it after the specified time (set by you in app) and it will unlock. Same is like you keep the finger, beep sound is heard as many times set by you and you remove the finger; unlocked!

Will the Blade have FPLS or Not?
They may well use the timed software method but I think its just for devices with a finger print reading sensor on them like the Motorola in this clip:

Truncated / Cut short SMS Notifications

Hi guys,
I'm having a weird bug with SMS notifications on my S3, when I get a text it will cut short or sometimes not even play the notification sound. I've tried various tones, restarting the phone, changing the settings off - reboot - turn setting back on, but nothing is sorting it... Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it?
Thanks,
J
Same problem here, its totally random.
I've noticed this myself a few times as well.
I had it, I changed to a different notification sound and that fixed it. Not sure if you can go back after? Whistle annoyed me so didn't try.

Do you keep your phone screen down on a table, there's a motion settings to mute ringtones if the phone is placed screen down on a table.

Sure there is such an app. Just enter "proximity screen off" in play store.
PS. Proximity sensor might be not detected on CM based ROM's

Does Turning Auto-Rotation off save battery?

I have been reading in many threads in the Xperia Sola/P/U sub forum that one should turn off auto rotation to save battery if that feature is not being used.
I used to do that. Until yesterday evening while playing Temple Run, when a doubt came to my mind.
Since auto rotation is turned off. But the guy in the TR2 picks up movement from tilting the phone also. Which means the gyroscope (on whatever device that is used to measure angular movements) must be running even after auto rotation is turned off..
So if gyroscope is still on, is there any actual battery saving?

Yes is for Turing it off disable sensors and it saves battery
Sent from my Xperia U using Tapatalk 2
By turing off auto rotation means
Screen will not rotate while in normal apps, gallery, brpwser etc
It doest mean it will completely turn ur senor off...
Games require gyroscope so it will run while playing
Sent from my Xperia U using xda premium
That will turn off sensor for screen rotation but not for games.
But if you arent playing game and you have autorot turned off you are saving battery
Ps sorry for my bad english

If Auto Rotation off disables sensors, how are games still able to sense movement.
If auto rotation off does not disable sensor, how is battery being saved?

It does disable the sensor, but when you install some apps (games in paticular that use the gyroscope and stuff) they have the permission to turn it on, but outside of that app it will be off. Very simple actually

Turning off autorotate will not save your battery.
Also factor in the negligible savings from cpu not polling sensors, or processing animation for rotation.
It will NOT save your battery at all...

To disable it (and you can do this without root) go into settings - general - apps - all and scroll all the way down to the bottom. You will find vutalk there. Press on it and disable it. And yes it will remain disabled even after reboot.

Viber needs only a few KB/s (or MBs for calls) . Other apps need more ( i don't use and don't know about what's up)
It doesn't need an account. (for hangouts you need to have your friends gmail / fb needs ...fb accounts )
And you can do some funny staff. Draw/emoticons/sound clip
