I was wondering if anyone has found a way to improve the audio that is recorded when video recording. It seems like if I am recording live music, or anything too loud (but not incredibly loud) the audio is just really bad and tinny.
Just wondering if there was an app or a mod to fix this and maybe change the recording gain.
Thanks!
PS - I am already rooted and running on SHOStock
Thats just how the quality of the microphone is... The microphone the video recorder uses is the front facing microphone which is next to the headphone jack I believe.

This works for the i777, I have tried it and audio does improve.
Also what you can do is replace the camera.apk from your current rom with a camera.apk from a different rom that has an improved audio quality. Ex: the camera.apk in UnNamed rom has an improved video recording audio quality. So take that camera.apk and replace it with the camera.apk in your current rom. That should do the trick
Shostock already ups the quality to 128kbps and with AAC, anything higher isn't that useful unlike MP3.
And the fix gtg465x tried to implement doesn't work. I tried it.

Alright, thanks for the info!
It's a fundamental limitation of anything with a built-in mic. Especially a phone.
Even my Canon HD camcorder had a crappy mic - couldn't come close to what an external mic or a standalone recorder (like the Zoom H2) could do.

Hello all,
I have a problem with my new SGS2 and could not find anywhere a solution for this. When I record a video there is no sound recorded also, only the image... In the camera application there is no option for enable/disable this feature like in the SGS1. Anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks.
You meant that there is no option to record a Video without Audio right? If it is then I'd also like to know the same.
Regards.
Very strange request that but a valid question nonetheless (not that id be recording a video without sound)
No!!! I don't want to record videos without sound... who would want this? My SGS2 does NOT RECORD VIDEOS WITH SOUND!!! I mention that when I use an application to record only voice it works, so it's not the microphone...
Oh! For me it's exactly the opposite. I sometimes will like to record a Video without Audio. But I just can't find an option to do that. It always records Audio with a video
nobody had this problem?
very faint audio when recording video
I have a Galaxy S2 purchased for Bell, rooted with KG2 kernel, and unlocked for Rogers. When I record video using the stock Camera app, the sound is *very* faint. The mic works fine when making a call or when recording audio with an app like Voice Recorder. I didn't try making a video before rooting, so I don't know if that is related. I tried lgCamera and had the same problem.
Any suggestions for what could be wrong?

Without any unlikely stops!
you can find the player and the codec in the play store
couldn't tell at first until I loaded a song that has a wide range of bass an high notes an there is a improvement. Using my normal ear buds could barely tell the difference got my bigger headphones hooked up an ya the bass is alot clearer an deeper.

Camera tries...
I just try to flash camera libs from other places but it dosenĀ“t work like i guess, anyone of you know a small solve for the camera?
Can't the beats audio included in the rom?
Ask paulxxx for this, he is who should add the libs, but for the continue version, the last version of it, the sound improves greatly.
For the camera we need the adreno200 libs, submit your request for this

I'm on ATT HTC One with latest Cyanogen 10.2 mod. Anyone know why when I'm recording a video the sound recording is soooo low? When I use the phone's sound recorder it's fine so it seems like it's the movie camera app at fault. Any alternative apps? Thanks in advance.
Is there any way to change the microphone gain for recording videos? For example, I find the gain is way too high for recording concerts, all I get is hissing distorted audio. I was an an Aerosmith concert the other day and the audio quality is that bad that all you can hear is noise, no music at all.
I have rooted my phone and have xposed framework installed but I didnt see any apps or anything on there for this to happen.
I used to have a Motorola Atrix a few years ago and it had a recording option for concerts, which lowered the gain and made it excellent quality for videos.
Any ideas would be helpful, cheers!
Flash doom kernel. It will give you the ability to change the gain

I agree, I recorded some video at a concert last weekend and it's all broken up and distorted. Such a shame since the video quality is so great. I would think firmware/software could fix this. I don't want to have to buy the external mic just to get a quality recording.

The answer would seem to be an external STM10 mic.
Funnily enough, at an Aerosmith concert too:

Hi
I really wanted this phone, until I had placed the order and continued with some YouTubing. I started noticing the very poor audio that it records from the camera and cancelled my order. Not only is the bitrate very low, at 96 kbps, it also sounds like it's recording mono, even though AFAICT it has two microphones?
I'm wondering if there's an XDA fix for this issue, and if so, what the results are? (As in, are there any examples out there of this phone recording proper audio with its camera)
TIA,
Daniel
I have the phone and the audio recording from the stock camera is not bad actually.
